Gary was born June 30, 1955 in Inglewood, CA the son of Milton Keith and Beverly Jane (Rich) Conn.

Survivors include his mother: Beverly Jane Conn, Clinton, IL; children: Joshua (Amy) Conn and Amber Conn both of Yucaipa, CA; 1 grandchild: Gavin Conn, Yucaipa, CA; step-children: Dawn Hamblock, CA and Larry Clingempeel, Bloomington, IL; 3 step-grandchildren; brother: Eldon (Kathy) Conn, Clinton, IL; longtime companion: Suzie Edwards, Clinton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Gary worked as a welder and enjoyed cars and motorcycles.

Funeral services for Vivian Estella Cothern, 95, of Monticello, will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at the First Christian Church, 1699 N. State St., Monticello. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Nixon Township Cemetery, Weldon. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Cothern died peacefully at 5:45 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello. Vivian was born January 31, 1922 in Winchester, IL, the daughter of Ray Elwin and Allie Estella (Simpson) Martin. She married Kenneth Maxwell Cothern on November 9, 1941 in Decatur. He passed away May 3, 2003.

Vivian is survived by her children, Patricia Ann Gregory (Duane) of Lynchburg, VA, Daniel Maxwell Cothern (Sandy) of Champaign, IL, Larry Dean Cothern of Chaska, MN, Nancy Elaine McConnell (Bill) of Okeana, OH; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Orval Martin and Ray Martin, Jr., and sisters Elizabeth Espinoza, Wava Nichols, Vonetta Martin, and Olivia Martin.

Vivian was a housewife and worked in sales/marketing. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello and was active with the Deland-Weldon PTA. Vivian formed the First Christian Church worship service at Tatman Village and she also received the Barnabas award by the First Christian Church for her incredible gift of encouragement.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church or the Piatt County Nursing Home Alzheimer’s Unit.

Jeffrey was born May 21, 1953 in Evanston, IL the son of Alfred and Rose (Trom) Brisard.

Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 22 years, Carol Brisard; brothers: Brad (Connie) Brisard and Doug (Marian) Brisard; step-children: John (Patty) Hannon and Jodi (Jesse) Schmid; step- grandchildren: Ava Hannon, Brody, Royce and Hank Schmid. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, many cousins, dear friends and his beloved little dog, Jake.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Ricky.

Jeff was retired from Laborers’ Local 703 and was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He also was a member of the Clinton Eagles Aerie #593 and VFW Post 4168. Jeff was a music lover and life-long Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

Lois was born August 16, 1922 in Downs, IL. She married Francis Donald “Don” Cray April 26, 1943 in Ft. Myers, FL. He passed away March 14, 2004.

Survivors include her children: Fran (Barry) Barnard, Vero Beach, FL, David (Ellen) Cray, Ottawa, Ontario Canada, Phil (Barb) Cray, Port Byron, IL, Bruce (Maria) Cray, Brookshire, TX, Rene'e (Bill) Zorc, Libertyville, IL, Tom Cray, Morton Grove, IL, Terry Cray, Vernon Hills, IL and Kevin Cray, Clinton, IL; a brood of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother: Earl Campbell, Clinton, WI.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, siblings: Helen Samuels, Hazel Lawyer, Howard Campbell, Carl Campbell, Gene Campbell and Floyd Campbell.

Lois was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She had worked at the John Warner Bank as a bookkeeper.

Janet was born on August 4, 1923 in Connecticut; daughter of Martin Shaw and Mildred Mauldin. She married George A. Sydney on September 15, 1944 in El Paso, TX. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1977.

She is survived by her son: Dana (Anne) Sydney of Lincoln, IL; two granddaughters: Kathryn Sydney and Jennifer (Derin) Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Tina Guzy, and one sister: Ann Shaw.

Charles M. Ott, 85, of Lincoln passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL.

Charles was born on April 20, 1932 in Lincoln, IL the son of Melby and Eugenia (Hurst) Ott. He married Marjory Reigert on October 23, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE. she survives.

Charles is also survived by his children; Terri Lee (Russell) Keith of El Paso, IL, Douglas Ott of Boise, ID, and Cindy (Mike) Buchwald of Manvel, TX; his brothers; Robert Ott of Rock Island, IL, William Ott of Camdenton, MO, and James Ott of Virden, IL. Additionally Charles is survived by his seven grandchildren; Kristoffer, Steffanie, Savannah, Steven, Samuel, Spencer, Sarah; and his two great-grandchildren; Everleigh, and Gabe.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Daniel Charles Ott.

Charles was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club, Central Illinois Tourism Council, Logan Co. Tourism, Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting Association, and the State of Illinois Bee Keeper Association.

Charles was a bee keeper for 60 years, and was bee inspector for the State of Illinois Agriculture Department for 34 years. He was the Abraham Lincoln presenter for the State of Illinois Tourism Department for 34 years; he also portrayed Abraham Lincoln doing trade shows in the United States, Canada, and London, England.

Charles was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Services for Charles will be held at 10:00A.M. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00P.M. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial at Zion Cemetery will follow the service. Paul Edward Doane, Junior, 85 of Monticello, Illinois passed away peacefully July 17, 2017 at his home on the farm he had lived on and loved for nearly 60 years.

Paul is survived by his 3 children: Becky (Bill) Herb, Bruce (Saundra) Doane, and Brian (Denise) Doane; grandchildren: Matthew (Erica) Herb, Joe Doane, Kristen (Will) Holmes, Nichole Doane, Jonathan Doane, Patrick (Tey) Herb, Elizabeth Herb, Dara Ella and Rachel Doane; and great grandchildren: Ashlyn Cafin, Daniel Sullivan and Sydney Herb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Virginia Ann Doane and their son: Brett Paul Doane.

Paul was born September 22, 1931 in Decatur, IL. He worked at Mississippi Valley Steel in Decatur in the early years of his career and finished out his career at Kurland Steel in Urbana, IL. Farming was the joy of his life and he loved a good political debate. He served on the Sangamon Township Board and was a Mason. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and always enjoyed listening to the Boston Pops 4th of July concert celebration. He was also a member of the Centerville Methodist Church.

Paul will be dearly missed his family and his friends.

Surviving are one sister, Amanda M. (Joshua) Casey, LeRoy, Illinois; maternal grandparents, Robert (Katherine) Bagwell, LeRoy, Illinois; paternal grandparents, Duane (Lanet) Pruett, Mahomet, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Carol Pruett and his maternal and paternal great-grandparents.

Tommy was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church, the LeRoy High School Football Team, and the LeRoy High School Wrestling Team.

Elaine was the daughter of Kenneth and Iona D. Burwell. She was born in Bloomington, IL on January 10, 1939. Elaine married James B. Lessen on June 24, 1956 in Waynesville,IL. Elaine later married Phillip R. Butler on September 29, 1984 in Lincoln, IL.

Elaine followed her mother into nursing, graduating from LPN school in 1972. She retired from nursing, having worked as a LPN at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and Lincoln Developmental Center for many years.

Elaine was preceded in death by: her parents, Kenneth and Iona Burwell; her son, Kevin Lessen; and Great-Grandson, Brandon Harris.

Mr. Short was born July 9, 1939 in Bloomington, Illinois to Thelma M. McClintock. He married Judy E. Pray September 9, 1966 in LeRoy, Illinois. She survives in LeRoy, Illinois.

Survived by his sons, Tim L. (Amy) Short of St. Joseph, Illinois and Jason John Short of LeRoy, Illinois; granddaughters, Maureen, Audrey, and Katharine Short all of St. Joseph, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Jackie Burton.

John was a Vietnam Era Army veteran. He worked for the Eureka Company in Bloomington for 40 years and was a custodian at the LeRoy High School for 8 years.

He was active with the Boy Scouts in LeRoy in the late 1970s through the late in1980s.

Michelle Phipps, 51, of Lincoln passed away on July 14, 2017 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Michelle was born on April 14, 1966 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Ronald Phipps and Amy Phipps.

Michelle is survived by her son, Zachary (Jessie Maus) Tremaine; three grandchildren, ZJ, Amelia, and Adeline Tremaine; her mother, Amy Phipps of Chestnut, IL; her father, Ron (Chris) Phipps of Pittsfield, IL; her sister, Teresa (Jon) House of Chestnut, IL; her brother-in-law, Jimmy White of Ohio; and her long time significant other, Robert Nylin. Additionally she is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Michelle was preceded in death by her sister, Robin White of Ohio.

Lynda Sue Ruff, 70, of Lincoln passed away at 10:40 A.M. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Lynda was born July 26, 1946 in Logan County; the daughter of Norman and Mary (Sutton) Hart. She married Lyle Ruff on October 10, 1965 in Lincoln, IL. and he survives.

Lynda is also survived by her son, Doug Ruff; one brother, Terry (Linda) Hart; two grandchildren, Vanessa Ruff and Angie Ruff; one niece, Tani (Troy) Scott and one nephew, Brandon Hart.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents.

Lynda worked for the State of Illinois as an Administrative Assistant for over 25 years. Lynda was an avid Rendezvousor for over 10 years; where she received the Indian name "Summer Storm” through a traditional Indian ceremony. She was a volunteer for years at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. She was also a past President of The Zonta Club of Lincoln.

Services for Lynda will be held at 10:00A.M. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ron Otto officiating. He was an Army Veteran serving his country during the Korean conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star. Lynn was a special Christian man. He loved his family, the church, and farming. Heaven has received a special Angel.

A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2017, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. He was a member of the UAW Local #751. He married Luanne Gaitros on September 18, 1993. Joe attended Dalton City United Methodist Church and had a passion for motorcycles and his pets. He was a die-hard Cubs fan.

Judith Anne Coogan, 78, of Lincoln, passed away at 8:41 a.m. Thursday (July 13, 2017) at her home.

Judith was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Lincoln, the daughter of Paul Sr. and Mildred Blaum Beaver. She married Judge David Coogan on June 12, 1971, in Lincoln; he survives.

Judith is also survived by her brothers, Paul (Sue) Beaver and John (Kathy) Beaver, both of Lincoln; nieces, Ann (Ron Wolpert) Beaver Witting and Amy (John) O’Donnell; nephews, Frederick (Amy) Blanford, Brian (Christine) Beaver and Brad (Michele) Beaver; great-nieces, Hannah Witting; Kyleigh Snavely; Lauren O’Donnell; Caitlin Beaver; and Camille, Abigal and Claudia Blanford; and great-nephews, Ethan Witting, Kevin O’Donnell, Corey Beaver and Brandon Beaver.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister.

Judith retired from Chester-East Lincoln and Northwest schools after teaching there for 35 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, DAR and the Logan/Dewitt Retired Teachers Association. She was truly devoted to all of her nieces and nephews.

Services for Judith will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, with Father Simon Taabu officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her four brothers and one sister.

Agnes was a member of St. Mary's Church, Bloomington, Illinois. She was an employee at State Farm Insurance for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. She lived a very active life enjoying travel; quilting; crafting; puzzles; reading; and most of all spending time with her family and family pets.

(Diana) Sams, Bellevue, NE and Janelle (Brad) Thomas, Clinton, IL; four

grandchildren: Collin Sams, Ramstein AFB, Germany; Ross Thomas; Paige

Thomas (fiancé, Clayton Dunn); and Reid Thomas, all of Clinton, IL;

sister, Brenda (Dale) Rueger, Clinton, IL. Several nieces and nephews

also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ned Harrold.

Norma worked for the Clinton school system for 30 years as a secretary.

She was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church where she served

on several committees. Norma was a member of the Weldon Springs

Foundation, the Clinton Zoning Board of Appeals, and the DeWitt County

Restoration Committee. She was also a member of the Alpha Sigma Masters

Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for 50 years and the Collectors of Illinois

Pottery and Stoneware as well as numerous Bridge clubs. Norma was a six

year cancer survivor.

Mollie was born on May 18th, 1939 in Bondville, Illinois to Robert and Myrtle (Wardlow) Beckett.

She was the 8th of 10 children: James Beckett; Robert Beckett; Mary (Harrison) Rexroad; George “Joe” Beckett; Thomas Beckett; Gene (Phyllis) Beckett; John Beckett; Larry (Inez) Beckett; and Fred Beckett. She married Jimmie C. Evans on July 1, 1966 in Mahomet, Illinois. He passed away February 7, 2005. They had two sons, Keith (Jane) Evans of Farmer City, and Christopher (Merry) Evans of Farmer City. She was a grandmother to 7 grandkids, Joella Evans; Kevin (Tonya) Evans; Adam (Nancy) Evans; Misty Evans; Mandy (Brad) Lewis; Rex Evans and Ali Evans. She was the proud great-grandmother of 8 great-grandchildren, Brianna; Annah; Parker; Evan; Ciara; Sydnee; Brayden; and Clayton. She was also the loving mother of her dog, Max.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and her husband.

She lived in Mansfield for 51 years. She was a member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church and was blessed with many caring neighbors and friends: Sue Hopkins; John and Carolyn Houser; Mike and Carolyn Pace; and Jo Kirby. Mollie loved her family, her dog, and Elvis Presley.

She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

Betty was born February 16, 1924 in Downs, Illinois, a daughter of James "Andy" Adam and Jewell Marie Clark Waybright. She married Millard Elmo "Smitty" Williamson on June 8, 1947 in Downs, Illinois. He preceded her in death, March 15, 2006.

She is survived by one brother-in-law, Ivan "Tide" Williamson, sister-in-law, Viola Williamson and many nieces and nephews.

Betty graduated from Downs Community High School in 1943. She was a member of the Downs United Methodist Church. When she was younger she worked for the elders of Downs and her Aunt and Uncle's restaurant. She then went to work for State Farm where she worked for 42 and a half years retiring on February 16, 1986. She started at State Farm as a skater who delivered the mail on her floor and to Mr. G. J. Mecherle.

Betty was a loving wife, aunt, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.

Margaret McCarty Hoffman, 96, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 10:50 A.M., Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Farmer City Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Farmer City, Illinois.

Mrs. Hoffman was born July 21, 1920 in Rutledge Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, a daughter of Rolland R. and Louise Walden McCarty. She married E. Eugene Hoffman in Farmer City, Illinois on October 27, 1946. He survives in Farmer City, Illinois.

Survived by her daughter, Ellen (James) Zellmer of Blue Springs, Missouri; two sons, John (Kathy) Hoffman of Lake Tapawingo, Missouri and William (Catherine) Hoffman of Farmer City, Illinois; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Jean McCarty of Eureka, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, James and her brother, John McCarty.

Margaret was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in journalism and worked on newspapers in Chicago and the Champaign News-Gazette before her marriage. She later worked for the Farmer City Journal.

She was a member of the Farmer City United Methodist Church; the Farmer City Genealogical and Historical Society; Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, and Theta Sigma Phi Professional Journalism Sorority. She was a member of the Farmer City Public Library Board where she served as president for 24 years. She was a member of the Woodlawn Country Club where she was an avid golfer. Her hobbies were reading, golf, genealogy, and bridge.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois. There will be no visitation.

Stephen W. Shehorn, 66, of Chestnut, IL suffered from Type 2 Diabetes and heart failure at Presence Covenant Medical Center surrounded by his family on July 7, 2017.

Stephen was born on May 29, 1951 in Lincoln, IL; son of Robert and Zella (Ayers) Shehorn.

Surviving Stephen is his wife: Charlotte of 12 years of marriage, daughters: Kayla (David) Turner and Angela (Bradley) Westner, his mother: Zella, and many loving grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

Stephen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. Stephen loved hard work and worked as a heavy machine operator for 30+ years until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, drag racing, and watching horse racing. He also enjoyed fishing and camping. He was always there to help friends with any type of project they needed him for.

Martha Cleo Prince, 89, passed away at 10:40 a.m. on July 8, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Martha was born on December 22, 1927 in Monette, AR; daughter of Manuel T. Duncan and Virgie Garrett Lay. She married Morris Prince on March 11, 1944 in Paragould, AR. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2015.

Surviving Martha are her two daughters: Sandy (Larry) Bailey of Lincoln; Phyllis (Reynold) Goff of Chestnut; one grandson: Scott Luckhart of Riverton; three granddaughters: Pamela (John) Mays of Wentzville, MO; Laura (Keith) Brewer of Wentzville, MO; and Stephany (Chad) Kutz of Lincoln; one step granddaughter: Amy (Shawn) Lawrence of Beason; great grandchildren: Brady, Garrett, and Wyatt Luckhart of Mt. Pulaski; Delaney Mays of Wentzville, MO and two great step grandchildren: Jacob and Jayden Lawrence of Beason. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: James Duncan.

Martha was a member of Lincoln Southern Baptist Church. She retired from Lincoln Developmental Center on March 28, 1990 where she worked as a Dietary Supervisor. She enjoyed fishing, puzzles, and her family.

Services for Martha will be 12:00 Noon Wednesday July 12, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL with Rev. James Williford officiating. Dwain Cecil Marten, 93, passed away at 2:53 p.m. on July 4, 2017 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski, IL.

Dwain was born on December 17, 1923 in Mt. Pulaski, IL; son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marten. He married Mildred Seefeldt on December 27, 1949, she preceded him in death on July 29, 1979. He married Leatha Faye Paul in 1980, she preceded him in death on December 6, 2012.

Dwain is survived by his son: Randy and his wife Bobbi Marten of Dallas, TX; stepchildren: Larry Tallent of McLean, IL, and Ann Winchell of Bushnell, IL; one grandchild; seven step-grandchildren.

Dwain was a WWII Marine veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was a lifelong farmer and electrician. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut, American Legion, Chestnut Fire Department, Logan County Sheriffs Auxiliary, and he was an avid model train enthusiast.

Services for Dwain will be 11:00 a.m. Friday July 7, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut, IL with Rev. David Dunlop officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service (10:00-11:00 a.m.) Burial at Laenna Cemetery will follow the service, where full military rites will be accorded. Gerald Frederick Litterly was born December 8, 1936 in rural Lake Fork, Illinois, to Jesse Earl and Rosie Mae Litterly. He passed away, July 3, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He married Barbara Carol Cyrulik, December 24, 1958. They had three sons, Steven, Jeffery, and James. She preceded him in death.

He married Connie Fisher, February 2, 1994. She preceded him in death.

Gerald farmed in the Mt. Pulaski area until his death, for over 60 years. He also lived on the Centennial Family Farm. He was a member of the Lake Fork Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge #87 A.F.&M. Mt. Pulaski, Illinois.

He leaves behind three sons, Steven, Jeffrey (Susan), and James (Jan). Five grandchildren, Carly Winkelmann (Rob), Mitchell, Tyler, Jacob, and Luke Litterly; two great-grandchildren, Camden and Macyn Winkelmann.

Gerald loved life and loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dog Jazzie.

Gerald was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Forrest Litterly.

Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or The Mt. Pulaski Future Farmers of America. The family plans a Celebration of Life at a later date. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Catherine Viola Kwasny, 99, of Forsyth, Illinois passed away at 6:21 pm. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service to celebrate Catherine’s life will be at 1:00 pm. Monday July 10, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Decatur, Illinois, with Rev. Russell Weise officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, Illinois. Memorials in Catherine’s name may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Catherine was born December 26, 1917, in Warrensburg, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Clara Binkley. She had eight brothers and sisters. Catherine attended school in Warrensburg and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1931. She worked at Hi Flyer Kite Factory, Oaks Products Company and during World War II, at Wagner Casting Company. She loved to spend time in the garden and yard. She enjoyed the outdoors whether camping, hunting, or fishing. She bowled for many years in two leagues and continued her love for bowling as an avid Wii bowler on the Hickory Point Christian Village team. She enjoyed being with her family and rarely missed a family gathering. Catherine married Robert William Kwasny on May 16, 1935. Robert preceded her in death after seventy-two years of marriage.

Surviving are her three children- Nancy Miller, Sandra (David) Shinn, of Findlay, Illinois, Ronald (Jacqueline) Kwasny of Bloomington, Illinois, five grandchildren-Jodi (Donald) Doyle, Brian (June) Miller, Lance (Lisa) Kwasny, Curtis (Myka) Shinn, Matthew Shinn, fourteen great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, husband, son-in-law, Wilbur Miller, and one great grandchild.

The family would like to thank Hickory Point Christian Village and staff, Haven Hospice and DMH Hospice for their care and support to our mother and our family.

Catherine has been a faithful and active lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Her confirmation verse is Revelation 2:10 “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life”. These words are certainly true. Catherine has gone to be at peace in the arms of her Lord and Maker where she awaits to once again be reunited with all who believe.

Christine M. Stewart, 65, formerly of Kenney, IL, died on July 3, 2017, following a long illness. She was the youngest child of Robert Roy Hunter, Jr., and Eleanor P. (Dorr) Hunter. Christine was born in 1951 in Framingham, Mass, and spent her childhood and young adulthood in nearby Westborough, Mass. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Gary H. Stewart, of Gardner, Mass., and by numerous nieces and nephews. She had been a dispatcher for an industrial gas company and later worked in retail. She was an avid seamstress and became quite adept at scrapbooking. She belonged to the First Baptist Church of Westborough and worshiped at other congregations after she left her home town. She will be interred in the family plot in Westborough. Darrick was born January 1, 1974 to Dennis and Judy Andresen Rieck in Clinton, Iowa.

His mother, Judy, preceded him in death.

Darrick loved spending time with family and friends. Most of all, Darrick loved his kids. He would talk about them to everyone. He was a loving father, brother and son.

Evelyn Ann Anderson, 87, of Mansfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully the afternoon of Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Carle Hospital with family and friends by her side. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Mansfield, Illinois. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 P.M. in Blue Ridge Township Cemetery, Mansfield, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to Carle Hospice.

Evelyn was born on February 4, 1930 in Dana, Illinois. She attended and graduated from Minonk Dana Rutland School District. Shortly after graduation, moved to Bloomington, Illinois where she held various office jobs. While in Bloomington and enjoying a night of dancing at O’Neals Dance Hall, she met her future husband Paul K. Anderson. They were married on August 19, 1951. Evelyn and P.K. spent the next 47 years dancing through life together until he passed away on July 23, 1998. Together they raised two sons, Craig (Della) of Champaign and Brian of Mansfield. Evelyn greatly enjoyed the time she spent with her grandsons, Aaron and Brian W. from their childhood visits to Dewey’s until their most recent pizza parties at Monicals.

To know Evelyn was to know a committed lady. For almost three decades she worked side by side with P.K. cultivating the fields in the spring and harvesting the crop in the fall. Amazingly, she was the first one to rise and the last one to rest while she maintained a busy household between the hours she was working beside Paul Keith. Without a whisper of complaint, Evelyn assured that all of those around her, family, friends, shelling crews, equipment mechanics, and hired hands came before herself. Evelyn was often reminded of, and complimented on the fantastic meals, desserts, and snacks she would provide to those working at the farm.

At a time when many would consider starting to slow down, Evelyn began a 25 year career with Carle Clinic and Hospital. She enjoyed many of those years in the Eye Department where she began countless friendships with doctors, staff, and patients that lasted long after her retirement at the age of 75.

One of Evelyn’s greatest wishes was that she never had to leave the farm. She spent the last years of her life shuttling and feeding “the boys”, her own and those that worked with them, while they continued the farming operation. Always willing to help, many in the neighborhood will remember the petite lady bundled up from head to toe mowing the roadsides on her John Deere until only a year ago. Always a mother, as she began to slow down, she would keep a watchful eye on the comings and goings of trucks and machinery. Numerous times a day she would check in with Craig and Brian to keep informed of where they were working, how they were getting along, who was helping, and of course, to remind everyone not to work all night.

Regardless of the subject, whether it was her family, friends, the farm, her work, or volunteering, Evelyn was committed to giving her all too every task and person.

Wesley was an avid outdoorsman with a beautiful vegetable and flower garden.. He enjoyed long walks, hiking, camping and small game hunting of squirrels, rabbits, raccoons and opossum. Along with working part time at a bookstore in Bloomington, he was a welder of big or small jobs. Also,

Wesley attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Heyworth.

Wesley spent much of his time and energy as a caregiver to his mom until she passed away at the age of 82.

George Orville Hiser, 87 of Mt. Zion, formerly of rural Hammond, passed away at 9:38 PM Sunday July 2, 2017 in Fair Havens Christian Home, surrounded by his family.

Services to celebrate George’s life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday July 5, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor David Brown. George was born on January 28, 1930 in rural Oakley, IL the son of Orville O. and Hattie (Lanter) Hiser. He was a lifetime farmer. He married Harriet Catlin on November 22, 1951 in Boiling Springs Church of God in Decatur. George was a member of the Cerro Gordo Lions Club, former Board Member of the Cerro Gordo Grain Association, former board member of the Cerro Gordo Ambulance Service, member of the former Oakley United Methodist Church, and a former Cub Scout Master. George enjoyed gardening, tinkering in the shed fixing things and going to coffee at the elevator.

Surviving are his wife Harriet of over 65 years of Mt. Zion, children- Lynn and his wife Diana of Oakley, Marcia and her husband Larry Gaitros of Oakley, Darryl and his wife Vickie of Argenta, Tami and her husband Tim Newell of Oakley and Daniel and his wife Soraya of Cerro Gordo, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Martha L. Donnelly, 84, of Lincoln, IL formerly of Lombard, IL passed away at 10:36 A.M, Wednesday June 28, 2017 at her home.

Martha was born on July 26, 1932, the daughter of James P. and Dorcie Smith Donnelly.

Martha was a social studies teacher at Glenbard East High School in Lombard, IL for 25 years, and for many of those years, she also headed the Social Studies Department. Before her tenure at Glenbard East, she taught social studies In Los Angeles, CA, Waukegan, IL, Crete, IL, and for the United States Armed Services in Japan.

After graduating from Lincoln High School, Martha attended the University of Illinois in Champaign where she earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. During her years of teaching, she also completed extensive academic work beyond a master's degree. She received one Fulbright Scholarship to India and a second one to Israel.

Martha traveled extensively taking trips to numerous destinations, such as, England, Ireland, China, Southeast Asia, and Australia. When she lived in the Chicago area, she enjoyed the theater and had subscriptions to the Steppenwolf, Court, and Goodman theaters. She loved to read, and at one time would set aside whole days to read.

Martha expressed much gratitude for the kindness and generosity of her many Lincoln friends who helped her through illnesses during the past few years.

Services for Martha will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 6, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL, with Rev. Brad Curtis officiating. Elizabeth Jane Hamm, 95, formally of Peoria, passed from this life on June 29, 2017 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.

Jane was born in Lewiston, IL on March 30, 1922 to Whitnah and Irma Campbell. She graduated from Lewiston High School. Jane married Kenneth Hamm on December 14, 1941. Together they had a daughter, Barbara (Bob) Walter of Appleton, WI, and son, Richard (Betty) Hamm of Hudson, IL. Since the 1950’s, Jane was a member of Timber Lake Country Club where she enjoyed golfing, swimming, camping and many friends. She was a proud member of the DAR, Lewiston chapter. Theatre was a passion and Jane was a longtime supporter of Peoria Players and Cornstock Theatre. Jane was member of University United Methodist Church and was actively involved in volunteering at the Corner Closet. She was blessed to travel worldwide with her husband and loved vacationing on Sanibel Island, FL.

Jane is survived by her son, Rick (Betty) Hamm; four grandchildren: Robert (Sarah) Walter, Kelly (Scott) Smith, Stacey Hamm and Adam (Heather) Hamm, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and daughter Barb. Jane was beloved and will be greatly missed. The family would like to say a special thank you to the nursing staff and aides at the Meadows Memory Unit who always made sure Jane had what she needed and was well cared for.

Services for Jane will be held at 11:00A.M. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with Brandon Boyd officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services (10:00-11:00A.M.) also at the funeral home. Trooper Ryan Albin #5718

Illinois State Police (ISP) officials continue to grieve the loss of their fallen brother, Trooper Ryan Albin, who was killed in the line of duty on June 28, 2017. Trooper Albin was traveling on I-74 westbound near Farmer City when his vehicle collided with a box truck as both vehicles entered a construction zone. Trooper Albin joined the ISP in 2006 and was currently assigned to District 6 in Pontiac as a canine officer.

As a member of the ISP, Trooper Ablin was an extraordinary Trooper who was tremendously dedicated to his unit and the Department. Trooper Albin was well known for his significant drug, weapon, and illegal cigarette seizures. Trooper Albin served as a juvenile officer and a Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) trustee. Trooper Albin was a member of the National Criminal Enforcement Association and dedicated his career to criminal interdiction work. Trooper Albin received the following awards within the Illinois State Police and other agencies:

2015 District 6 Nominee for Officer of the Year

2015 Department Commendation for Illinois MEG Directors and Task Force Commanders Association

2010 Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists Award (101 DUI arrests in a year)

2009 District 6 Centurion Award for DUI Arrests (Over 100 DUI arrests in a year)

“Trooper Ryan Albin was universally loved by his peers. He was a big man who spoke softly, yet had a booming laugh that instantly let everyone in the building know he was there,” said ISP District 6 Commander Steven Riesenberg. “Ryan was a true professional and a very effective crime fighter. He will be sorely missed. The men and women of the Illinois State Police count themselves fortunate to have served with him and pray for his family,” Captain Riesenberg added.

“Although no words may heal the pain, I can offer this promise…. We will never forget,” said ISP Director Leo P. Schmitz. “We will never forget Ryan’s sacrifice, his courage, or commitment to service. We will never forget his family, and we will honor his legacy,” he added.

Trooper Albin grew up in Bellflower, IL. He attended Bellflower Grade School, Blue Ridge Junior High, and Blue Ridge High School. Trooper Albin obtained a bachelor’s degree from Eureka College in Eureka, IL. Trooper Albin was an inspiration to his fellow officers who often consulted with him for guidance. He will be remembered for his work ethic and dedication to selfless service.

Trooper Ryan Albin is survived by his parents, two sisters, six year old daughter and two year old son.
