Marietta Rose Romer, 68, Mount Pulaski, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Sunday (June 30, 2013) at Vonderlieth Living Center, Mount Pulaski.

Service: Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Mount Pulaski, with Father Glenn Fontana officiating.

Burial: Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski. The rosary will be recited at 3:15 p.m.

Jimmie Joe Wood of Argenta

Jimmie Joe Wood, 74, of Decatur, IL , formerly of Metropolis, passed away on Sunday (06-30-2013) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 5, 2013 at New Life Tabernacle Church, Macon, IL. Visitation will be from 5 — 7 PM Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home.

Jimmie was born on July 26, 1938 in Belknap, IL., the son of William Wood and Flora (Thorne) Wood. He married Patricia Ruthann Short on April 10, 1964 in Joppa, IL.

Jimmie was a member of New Life Tabernacle Church, Macon, IL., He served in the U. S. Army. Jimmie worked in housekeeping at Akorn from May 2006 to the present. He enjoyed leather work, computer gaming, and loved music and singing.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Ruthann Wood of Decatur, IL.; Daughter Terina Green (Leon) of Decatur, IL.; Brother Paul Wood of Alabama; Two Sisters Margaret Ragsdale of Sebring, Florida and Sharon Sullivan; Grandchildren Xavier Lewis, Cheyenne Lewis, and Joshua Lewis.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Harold Wood, Hubert Wood, and John William Wood, Jr. And one sister, Morlon Ragsdale.

William R. Dagner of Heyworth

William “Bill” R. Dagner, 54, of Heyworth passed away at 7:10 a.m. Thursday (June 27, 2013) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Tri-Valley Baptist Church, Bloomington. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. also at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Tri-Valley Baptist Church or the NRA.

Bill was born March 13, 1959, in Redwood Falls, Minn. He married Elena D Kuselevuch on April 30, 1998, in Hudson, Wis. She survives.

Also surviving are mother, JoAnn E. (Kenneth) Meierding Kotval; daughter, Karina Dagner, Heyworth; brothers, Bruce (Sheila) Dagner, Dassel, Minn.; Don Dagner, Redwood Falls, Minn.; and Bruce Kotval, Shoreview, Minn.; sisters, Marlys (Curtis) Carpenter, Marshall, Minn., and Tammy Rozell, Marshall, Minn.; and many friends, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Dagner; sister, Stacy Dagner; maternal grandparents, Roland (Esther) Meierding; and paternal grandparents, Charlie (Dagmar) Dagner. He was very close to all who passed before him.

Bill was an avid deer hunter and competitive sport shooting participant who always wanted to be outside and around nature. He farmed for around 20 years. He was a serious NASCAR fan and a competitive racer at the Redwood Falls Raceway in Redwood Falls, Minn. Most of all, Bill was a family man who loved to spend time with his wife and daughter. Bill was a loving husband, father, son, brother and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.

Eugen Earl Maris of Heyworth

Eugene Earl Maris, 77, Wonder Lake, passed away Wednesday (June 26, 2013) at Bridgeway of Bensenville.

He was born Jan. 26, 1936, in Heyworth, son of George and Sarah Gladys Monroe Maris. On July 4, 1959, he married Donna Bryant at Venice Baptist Church in Venice.

Gene was a longtime faithful member of Crystal Lake Christian Church. He served as both treasurer and elder for many decades. He taught for more than 30 years in McHenry School District 15 at McHenry Junior High and Parkland School.

For many of those years, he taught industrial arts then later taught junior high math and science. Gene’s favorite hobbies were woodworking and traveling, and he was very proud to have visited all 50 states.

He always enjoyed and was faithful to attend his grandchildren’s activities. He was best known as an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; his children, Debra (Dan) Sewell, New Lenox; Douglas (Michelle) Maris, Atlanta; and Susan Maris, Hoffman Estates; five grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Sewell; and Michaela, Dylan and Mariah Maris; brother, Ron (Joan) Maris, West LaFayette, Ind.; and sister, Marilyn Maris, Rochelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Maris.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, McHenry, and from 11 a.m. until the noon service Saturday at Crystal Lake Christian Church, Crystal Lake. Interment will be at Crystal Lake Memorial Park. If desired, memorials may be made to the church.

Doris F. Manuel of Monticello

Doris F. Manuel, 94, of Monticello, passed away at 4:10 a.m., June 26, 2013 at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.

Doris was born on November 29, 1918 in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Fannie (Quail) Burnett. She married Jesse O. Manuel on May 6, 1939 in Covington, IN. They were happily married for 74 years.

Survivors include her husband; Jesse O. Manuel of Monticello, a son Jesse L. Manuel and Beth of Monticello, and a daughter Charlotte J. Manuel Chumbley and Junior of Charleston. She was also blessed with 6 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 11 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son (Danny A. Manuel), 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Doris was a homemaker and a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to bowl, camp, and fish among many other things. She was still actively bowling in a league as of the last season; she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon Monroe officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Douglas L. Hamilton of Oreana

Douglas L. Hamilton, 65, of Oreana, passed away at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in his home with his family by his side.

He was born April 14, 1948 in Mattoon, the son of Mary Hamilton. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was previously employed with Caterpillar retiring with over thirty-five years of service. He was a member of the VFW and UAW Local #751. He loved construction and building, gardening, working with his hands, and learning something new every day. He married Sharon Daniels December 24, 1966. They shared over forty-six years together.

He leaves behind his wife Sharon, children Dawn Johnson and husband Randy of Oreana, Robin Biggs and husband Kyle of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, and Bobby Hamilton and wife Michelle of Champaign, grandchildren Katie, Danielle, Jennifer, Breanna, Molly, Connor, Evan, and Ethan, great-grandson Caiden, brother Warren Farrier and wife Donna of Mattoon, and sisters Sue Ann Sandlin of Florida and Rita Erxleben and husband Rick of Arizona.

He was reunited in Heaven with his grandmother Mary Alice Hamilton, mother Mary Hamilton, and brother Michael Farrier.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Fulbright, Dr. Esparaz, Dr. Collins, and the nurses and staff with DMH Hospice and the VA Outpatient Clinic for all of their loving care.

Celebration of Doug’s life will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Joseph Thomas Seggelke of Lincoln

Joseph Thomas Seggelke, 87, Lincoln, went to be with his Lord Tuesday (June 25, 2013) at The Christian Village in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lincoln Christian Church with Ryan Edgecombe and Dr. Paul Boatman officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery, near Riverton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home,  Lincoln.

Joe was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Hamilton, the son of George H. and Nellie Marie Hawkins Seggelke. He married Maxine Amberg on April 7, 1945, in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Bonnie Jo (Bud) Klockenga, Dix; three sons, Thomas Derald (Rita) Seggelke, Edwin Dean (Linda) Seggelke and Mark Allen (Barb) Seggelke, all of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren, John Klockenga, Wendy Wittl, Jennifer Albrecht, Ryan Seggelke, Trent Seggelke, Amy Taylor, Erin Taylor, Kelly Dye, Lillie Seggelke, Jason Seggelke and Jeffrey Seggelke; 22 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Peggy Seggelke, Springfield; and brother-in-law, Buck Amberg, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Florence Smith; and his brother, Harold Seggelke.

Joe was a graduate of Lincoln Community High School in 1943 and Lincoln Christian University in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician’s mate on the USS Cowpens aircraft carrier during World War II.

He served as a minister at Blooming Grove Christian Church in Palmyra, and also did supply preaching for Lincoln Christian College for a number of years before leaving for South Korea for 3½ years where his family served as missionaries.

He was a printer for the college for 27 years and then worked alongside his son at Key Printing for 13 years.

He was a faithful member of Lincoln Christian Church where he served as elder for several years, was a member of Jolly Seniors, taught Sunday school in the Christian Corner Sunday School Class for 40 years and was on the missions team at church. Joe was instrumental in starting the Inner City Mission in Springfield and served on the board for many years.

Memorial donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Lincoln Christian Church, The Christian Village, Lincoln Christian University or the Inner City Mission and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Also surviving are his mother, Bernadine Lord, Clinton, IL; brothers and sisters, Ronald (Louann) Lord, Clinton, Il, Alan (Lisa) Lord, Charleston, IL, Mary Alice (Gordon) Hurst, Mattoon, IL, Linda (Rick) Wooldridge, Clinton, IL and Rick (Elizabeth) Lord, Clinton, IL. He was preceded in death by his Father; Son, Stephen Lord; Niece, Katie; and Nephew, Shawn.

He worked as a Millwright at Kelly Construction in Decatur, IL. He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Marie Aldridge, 104 passed away at 2:28 AM Saturday June 22, 2013 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 28, 2013 at Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren with visitation from 9:00 am until service time at the church.

Marie was a member of Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren and was a cashier at the grocery store in Cerro Gordo.

 

Surviving son, Jerry Aldridge and wife Charlotte of Decatur, Illinois, grandchildren Doug Wainscott and wife Debbie, Mark Aldridge and wife Beth, Melanie Rogan and husband Chris, Mindy Nichols and husband Tony; great-grandchildren, Shannon, Alana, Amanda, Lindsay, Nicole, Paige, Morgan, Sydney, and Lauren.

 

Preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Sharon Wainscott, one son Charles Aldridge, two brothers and three sisters.

Gertrude Johanna Alberts Johnson of Emden

Gertrude Johanna Alberts Johnson, 99, passed away at 9:08 a.m. Friday (June 21, 2013) at the Christian Village, Lincoln.

She was born Dec. 9, 1913, east of Emden, to Harry and Anna Cross Alberts. She married Urban Johnson on May 9, 1932, by the Rev. Theodore Albert at the home of her grandmother, Johanna Cross, and he passed away Nov. 10, 1986. Their marriage was blessed by one son, the Rev. Don Johnson.

Surviving are one son, Don (Mary), Davenport, Fla.; three grandchildren, Ann (Tom) Monson, LaCrosse, Wis.; Lois (Jerry) Massa, Avon, Conn.; and John (Lucina) Johnson, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren, Major Amoy Manley, Adana, Turkey, and her husband, Marlin Manley, McLean, Va.; Michelle Monson, Edina, Minn.; Laura (Tony) Vanden Heuvel, Edina, Minn.; Josh (Mindi) Johnson, Ellington, Conn.; and Candace Johnson, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; three great-great-grandsons, Kai and Kolton Johnson, Ellington, Conn.; and Titus Manley, Adana, Turkey; and five nieces and nine nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Nelson, Charles, Roland, Alan and an infant brother.

Urban and Gertrude farmed and lived on the “home place” east of Emden until 1973 when they retired.

Gertrude was received into the Christian faith through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on Jan. 18, 1914, and the rite of Confirmation on April 1, 1928. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and was a member of the Ladies Aid since she was 20 years old. She was also a member of the Cross and Crown Circle.

She was a charter member of Logan County Home Extension and was a foster grandparent for 19 1/2 years at the Lincoln Development Center.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Emden. The Rev. John Schurter will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday, both at the church. Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg. Davis Mortuary, Delavan, is handling the arrangements.

Ruth Walker Peverly of Clinton

Ruth Walker Peverly, 90, Clinton, died April 18, 2013.

Carla Franklin of Maroa

Carla Franklin, 57, of Maroa, IL, passed away at 1:19 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. James P. Bode of Lincoln

James P. “Bode” Bode, 48, Lincoln, passed away at 6:23 p.m. Friday evening (June 14, 2013) at his home. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Atlanta, with the Rev. Glenn Fontana officiating. A luncheon will follow the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will be at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery at Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. The family requests casual attire for the service.

Surviving are his parents; one sister, Margaret Ann (Jamie Queer) Rubenacker; and two nephews, Cory Rubenacker and Eric Rubenacker, all of Lincoln.

Jim was the person who placed the flag of the United States of America on the overhead over Interstate I-55 at Lawndale on Sept. 11, 2001.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.

David R. Drake of Mt. Pulaski

David R. Drake, 68, of Mt. Pulaski, passed away at 5:22 P.M. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

David was born in Decatur, IL on August 29, 1944, son of Carlton Everett and Doris Elwanda Hoaglin Drake. He was united in marriage to Mary Maxvill on September 29, 1989 in Flagstaff, Az. She survives in Mt. Pulaski. Other survivors include: one daughter; Renay (Steve) Anderson of Elkhart,IL; one sister: Debbie Ciotti of Springfield,IL; one uncle: Bob (Chloe) Hoaglin of Latham,IL; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, two aunts, and two uncles.

 

He worked at the Lincoln Developmental Center as a Mental Health Tech for 33 years. He also was a member of the bands, Tinkers Dam, Greater Decatur Rhythm and Blues Review, Shady Lady and the Moon Cats, and he was an avid bowler. .

 

Services for David will be 11 A.M. Wednesday June 19, 2013 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt Pulaski with Rachel Stockle officiating. A visitation will be two hours prior to service. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.

Dorothy Mae Ping of Oreana

Dorothy Mae Ping, 61, of Oreana, died at 3:15 p.m., Friday (June 14, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, with Deacon Steve Tamburini officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with 7 p.m. rosary. Mrs. Ping was born March 31, 1952, in Galesburg, the daughter of Benjamin Simpson and Ruth Cecil. She was raised in the Catholic faith. Dorothy worked as a Mental Health Tech at McFarlin in Springfield. She got her Associates degree in nursing. Dorothy enjoyed photography, gardening, crocheting, sewing, food, going to the movies and watching TV. She married Nathan T. Ping on July 1, 1989, in Decatur.

 

Surviving are her husband; children, Jennifer Douglas and husband Marc; Kristopher Ping, all of Decatur; Sarah Young and husband Kyle of Blue Mound; sisters, Linda Ward of Galesburg; Jane Mahnesmith of Wataga; Joyce Castro of Tulare, Calif.; grandchildren, Gabriel Thompson, Reed Young and Chase Young.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Lorelei Susan Semenow of Cerro Gordo

Lorelei Susan Semenow, 56, of Cerro Gordo, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Heartland Health Care Center.

Lorelei was born March 14, 1957 in Palos Heights, IL, the daughter of John and Betty (Linne’) Carter. She married Victor S. Semenow in Palos Heights on September 2, 1989. Lorelei was a bookkeeper for Acme-Decatur in Decatur, IL. She was also a member of Palos Bible Church, Palos Heights, IL.

 

She is survived by her husband Victor of Cerro Gordo; daughter Britt L. Semenow of Cerro Gordo; sister Cynthia (Ed) Howell of Cerro Gordo; brother Dr. Richard Carter (Mindy) of Waunakee, WI; seven nephews and their spouses and nine nieces and their spouses; mother-in-law Judy Semenow of Oak Lawn, IL.

 

Lorelei was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jack Carter, and father-in-law, Zachar Semenow.

Lena O. Perkins of Sullivan

Lena O. Perkins, 91, Sullivan, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday (June 12, 2013) at Aspen Creek, Sullivan.

Her graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, with the Rev. Don Ferrill officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to Aspen Creek, 411 N. West St., Sullivan, IL 61951.

Lena was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Clinton, the daughter of Claude and Mary Ruth Diss Hoge. She married John Perkins Jr. on Feb. 6, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death March 3, 2011.

Lena is survived by her sons, John F. (Carol) Perkins, Springfield; Mike (Carolyn) Perkins, Clinton; Jim (Paula) Perkins, Sullivan; and Jeff (Pam) Perkins, Flanagan; daughters, Marcia (Howard) Owens and Connie (Cliff) Dobbs, both of Sullivan; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one stepgrandchild; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Margaret McCool; and one grandson, Spencer Perkins.

Karen L. Hawthorne of Farmer City

Karen L. Hawthorne, 63, Farmer City, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Sunday (June 9, 2013) at Heartland Healthcare, Champaign, peacefully, following pancreatic cancer.

She was born June 29, 1949, daughter of Francis and Lucile Grimes Hawthorne, and lived most of her life in her childhood home outside of Farmer City.

She worked in the Champaign-Urbana area as a secretary, bookkeeper, office manager and administrative assistant. She also worked part time as a catering server, bookkeeper and farm manager.

As a second career she worked as a musician, playing acoustic and digital piano, pump, electric and pipe organs for church services, weddings, funerals and private parties, in restaurants, and most recently, independent and assisted living centers.

Karen volunteered in the community playing music at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center. She also volunteered and served on committees at the University of Illinois Extension, advancing from the county level to State Council.

She also volunteered at Illinois State University’s WGLT radio station, Piatt County Farm Bureau, Piatt County Soil & Water Conservation Service and Farmer City Garden Club.

She was passionate about life and loved music. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and socializing. To the last days of her life she maintained her spirit and sense of humor. She truly treasured her friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 1969 and her father in 1999.

A celebration of life service will be at 11:08 a.m. Saturday at Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy, with the Rev. Rich Tomlinson officiating. Friends may gather following the service to remember highlights of their lives with Karen and to listen to some of her favorite songs.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City.

Leora Jean Clifton of Cisco

Leora Jean (Benjamin) Clifton, 87, of Norridge, IL (originally Cisco) died at 4:00 PM, Saturday (Jun 8, 2013) in Resurrection Medical Center, Chicago. Services will at 10:00 AM Friday at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, with Dr. Jack C. Clifton II officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Thursday in Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Burial will be in Monticello Cemetery.

Mrs. Clifton was born January 23, 1926, in Oakley, the daughter of Fred (Hip) and Lena (Himmelbauer) Benjamin. She was a charter member of the Craig-Reed Legion Post 1181 Women’s Auxiliary, First Baptist Church in Monticello, Kirby Hospital Auxiliary, CAED board in Cisco, Daubers Art Club and Central Baptist Village Charmers Choir. Leora was a beautician for 35 plus years out of her home shop. Leora married Jack C. Clifton on October 14, 1945, in Cisco.

Surviving are her daughter, Diana Lyn (Richard) Hoffman of Monticello; son, Dr. Jack (Dr. Fran) Clifton II of Chicago; sisters, Roberta Sheets of LaPlace and Rosemary Williams of Murphysborough; grandsons, Sean and Ryan Hoffman of Monticello; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Fred (Long Island, NY), Roy (Decatur) and Jack (Indianola, IA).

Irene M. Royse of Monticello

Irene M. Royse, 93, of Monticello, passed away at 11:20 a.m., June 3, 2013 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

Irene was born on June 25, 1919 in Nancy, KY, the daughter of Carl and Zula (Norfleet) Richardson. She married Lynn Piatt Royse on December 28, 1946 in Monticello, IL. He passed away May 16, 2007.

Survivors include her sons; Steve (Connie) Royse and Rick Royse both of Monticello, daughter; Susan Royse of Paragould, AR, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother; Urmel (Marilyn) Richardson of Monticello, sisters; Barbara Ellis of Monticello and Helen Smith of Mahomet, and sister-in-law; Marjorie Richardson of Pine Village, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother (Herschel Richardson) and 2 sisters (Jeanice Elliot and Leva Wileaver).

Irene was a saleswoman at the Kaiser’s Department Store in Monticello. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello and active in the local Democrat Party.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Ingram officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.

Diane Lucille Wentworth-Jensen of Maroa

Diane Lucille Wentworth-Jensen, 65, most recently of Maroa, passed away Monday June 3, 2013 at home. She was born June 7, 1947 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, daughter of Fred and Evelyn Wentworth of Warrensburg. Diane was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother.

Diane graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in Nursing and earned her Masters Degree in 1972 from Ball State University. She worked in her chosen profession, starting as a staff nurse on a surgical unit and retiring from the position of Vice President of Decatur Memorial Hospital. Her career also included being an instructor of nursing classes at Richland Community College where she was instrumental in establishing their Nursing Program. During her many years, she actively encouraged others to pursue careers in nursing and medical professions.

Diane had a variety of other interests. As a diehard Cub fan, she always anticipated spring training and the beginning of the baseball season. Working with and training her West Highland White Terriers became her passion after retirement. She not only trained her own dogs, she taught dog sport classes. The many new and close friends she made during these activities added much to her life.

Diane was the winner of the 1st Annual Women of Excellence Award in her field. She additionally served the greater Decatur community on many boards, including the United Way of Macon County, and as President of the Decatur Civic Center Board of Directors.

Diane is survived by, husband, Paul, her parents Fred and Evelyn Wentworth of Warrensburg, Brothers Norman (Linda) Wentworth, Decatur; Dennis (Cathy) Wentworth, Downs; Sister Sharon (John) Dew, Kirkwood. Sons Jeffrey (Rebekah) Jensen, San Jose, CA and Michael (Erin) Jensen of Normal; grandchildren McKenna, Alexander, and Samuel; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation and funeral service will be at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home. Visitation on Wednesday June 5 5:30-8:00 PM with funeral services on Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL.
