 Joyce Diane Whittington 67 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 11:25 A.M. August 23, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Il.

 

A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will be 10 AM, Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Aron Stine officiating. 

 

Memorials may be directed to the Parkinson’s Foundation, the Diabetes Association, or the American Cancer Society.

 

Joyce was born May 10, 1952 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Orman Ray “Doc” and Genevie (Bray) Dyer.  She married Art C. Whittington February 10, 1979 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Art C. Whittington, Clinton, IL; mother, Genevie Dyer, Clinton, IL; children, Bradley O. (Rachel) Dyer, Waynesville, IL and William R. Whittington-Burba, Clinton, IL; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and brother, Orman (Yvonne) Dyer, Clinton, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her father.

 

Joyce enjoyed farming.  She especially loved spending time with her family.

Bonnie Lewis

 Bonnie Lewis 69 of Clinton, IL passed away 12:54 PM August 23, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.

Bonnie was born October 3, 1949 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Paul Edison and Martha (Palmer) Devenbaugh. She married J. Lynn Lewis May 23, 2000 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, J. Lynn Lewis, Clinton, IL, children, Antonio James (fiancé Rebecca Hood) Eads, Clinton, IL; and Abraham I. (Stephanie) Helfand, Clinton, IL, grandchildren, Taelor Nikol Eads; Morgan Alexis Eads and Hunter James Eads; Alyvia Ann Helfand and Alania Grace Helfand, sister, Martha Jean (Ron L.) Ester, Broken Arrow, OK.

 

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

 

Bonnie worked at Warner Hospital and Health Services for many years.  She also ran ABC Daycare and Preschool. 

Beverly Smith

Beverly Jean Smith 75 of Sullivan, IL passed away 9:00 PM August 21, 2019 at her family residence, Sullivan, IL.

 

Graveside Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the DeLand Cemetery, DeLand, IL with Kenny Bontrager officiating.  Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Beverly was born April 28, 1944 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Everett and Lois (Danner) Zientara.  She married Jim Loney who passed away May 7, 1978.  She later married Claude Donald Smith.

 

Survivors include her son, Don (Lisa) Loney, Sullivan, IL, sister, Linda (Elmer) Clark, Clinton, IL, many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Ruth Curry, Decatur, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ronald Zientara and Mike Zientara.

Beverly enjoyed playing Solitaire on the computer, and she loved her animals; especially her dogs, Chico and B.J.

James Jerome Baker

James Jerome “Jerry” Baker 67 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 8:03 PM August 18, 2019 at the Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton, Il.

Jerry was born March 5, 1952 in Champaign, IL the son of Arthur Donald and Mary Ann (Foulks) Baker. He married Adrian L. Packer June 24, 1995 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Adrian L. Baker, Clinton, Il.; children: Tyler W. (Sondra) Baker, Clinton, IL; Cassie (John Eckley) Baker, Lincoln, IL; Kyle (Lisa) Bourne, Bloomington, IL; Keri Raymer, Clinton, IL; 6 grandchildren:  Alex, Zackary, Kylie, Hannah, Ethan, and Layney;

siblings, Donald Steven (Barbara) Baker, Lake Mills, Wisconsin; Arthur “Artie” Baker, Oklahoma; Barbara (Gary) Twist, Peoria, IL; special family:  Della Cooper, Clinton, IL and her family. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and Thomas F. Cooper.

 

Jerry’s passions were farming and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton, IL and had worked for Clintonia Township for many years.

Ruth Ann Durbin

 Ruth Ann Durbin 79 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 12:25 PM August 18, 2019 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Il.

 

Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to the John Warner Hospital Foundation.

 

Ruth was born October 6, 1939 in Birkbeck, IL the daughter of Earl and Oleta (Henson) Jiles.  She married Gary Duane Durbin in 1958 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include her children,  Richard Durbin, Kenney, IL and Don (Annette) Durbin, Ashland, IL, 1 grandson, Josh Durbin, Clinton, IL, 1 great-granddaughter, Stephanie Durbin,  Clinton, IL,  several step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren, siblings,  Barbara (Gene) Willoughby, Clinton, IL; David Jiles, Florida; and Jim (Robin) Jiles, Sevierville, TN. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings:  Alice Bolin and Robert Jiles; and her ex-husband in 2009.

 

Ruth worked at the Warner Hospital and Health Services for over 30 years.  She enjoyed taking trips and traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Douglas Irwin

Douglas D. Irwin, 48, of Springfield formerly of Beason passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

 

A Celebration of Doug's Life will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lincoln Christian Church with Rev. Brian Mills officiating.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, August 13, 2019  from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  at the Lincoln Christian  Church.

 

Burial will be held at a later date at Harmony Cemetery in rural Beason.

 

Douglas Dale Irwin was born on December 11, 1970 in Lincoln the son of Maurice Evan and Karen Sue McKown Irwin.


They survive.

 

Also surviving are his daughter: Allison (fiancee: Eric Kuhns) Irwin, Two brothers: David (fiancée : Rachel Lessen) Irwin, Tom (Laura) Irwin.

 

Doug graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in 1989, Parkland Community College and the University of Illinois.

 

He will be remembered for his athletic ability having played baseball and basketball at Lincoln Community High School along with baseball at Parkland Community College and the University of Illinois. He had a jovial personality and loved the Chicago Cubs.

 

He worked in the Agriculture Services Industry for many years in central Illinois.

 

Doug grew up on the family farm raising and showing Holstein dairy cows.

Freddonna L. Faulkner, 104, of Forsyth, IL passed away at 1:44 PM, August 8, 2019 at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Rev. Mary Alice Cunningham officiating.  Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL.  Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests friends to wear casual attire.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Maroa United Methodist Church Window Fund.

 

Freddonna was born June 8, 1915 in Maroa, IL the daughter of Walter and Naomi (Parker) Brenning.  She married Melbourne Lazell July 4, 1933.  He passed away 1972.  She later married Bill Faulkner November 15, 1975.

 

Survivors include her children, Melbourne Lazell, Jr., Apache Junction, AZ; and Richard (Mary Jo) Lazell, Maroa, IL, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.

 

The family wants to give a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hickory Point Christian Village and Safe Haven Hospice.

Frances Belle Nichols

 Frances Belle Nichols, 72, of Clinton, IL passed away peacefully at 4:32 A.M. August 4, 2019 at Manor Court, Clinton, Il.

 

A celebration of Frances’ life will be 11 AM Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Woodlawn Church of God, Clinton, IL. Friends may visit from 10 – 11 AM Friday at the church. A private family graveside will be held at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, IL. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Frances was born September 18, 1946 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Eldon Monroe and Nona Faye (Summers) Nichols.

 

Frances leaves behind her brothers, Edward Nichols, Charleston, IL; Cletus (Louise) Nichols, Clinton, IL; Merle Nichols, Mt. Zion, IL; twin brother Fred (Linda) Nichols, Eva, AL, sisters, Gerry Griffith, Clinton, IL; and Peggy (Richard) Deffenbaugh, Monticello, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nelda Birch.

Judy Sexton

udith “Judy” Lynn Sexton, 77 of Clinton, IL, passed away at 1:13 PM August 4, 2019 at the Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Crum Cemetery, Wapella, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home.

Judy was born June 14, 1942 in Freeport, IL the daughter of Gayle Edward and Evelyn Lucile (Espe) Hutmacher. She married Timothy James Sexton January 27, 1973 in Streator, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Tim James Sexton, Clinton, IL, children, Matt (Heather) Sexton, Wapella, IL; Chad Sexton, Wapella, IL, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister, Karen (Jack) Price, Freeport, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Judy worked at the Warner Hospital and Health Services for 35 years as a dietician. She loved horticulture. 

Roger L. Frantz

Roger L. Frantz, 86, of McLean, passed away at 8:51 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019, at his home.

 

Funeral services for Roger will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Mr. Tony Billingsley will officiate. Burial will follow at McLean Cemetery in rural McLean.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. 

 

Roger L. Frantz was born April 4, 1933, in Atlanta, the son of Merlin Dean and Elizabeth Anne Shaw Frantz.  He married Lucille F. Leesman in Atlanta on December 22, 1951.  She preceded Roger in death on December 30, 2018.


Roger is survived by their three children: Janet Frantz, Gary (Julie) Frantz, and Greg (Karen) Frantz; two grandsons: Jason (Maddie) Frantz and Alex Frantz; and one sister: Ruth Werschey of Decatur.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Phyllis Young and Betty Cox.

 

Roger attended Atlanta High School and was a member of McLean Christian Church. He owned Frantz Well Service from 1962 until his retirement in 2000. Roger was an avid musician who sang and played fiddle and mandolin with numerous bands throughout central Illinois over the years.

 

He was a loving Dad and Grandpa.

 

Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.

Sherry Lee Griffin

 Sherry Lee Griffin 72 of Clinton, IL passed away 5:30 PM July 31, 2019 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

 

A celebration of Sherry’s life will be 2 – 3 PM, Friday, August 9, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Sherry Griffin Memorial Fund.

 

Sherry was born June 10, 1947 in Flint, MI the daughter of James and Lou Jean (Cox) Weaver.  She married James Griffin in 1988.  He passed away 2015.

 

Survivors include her son, Brian (Desiree) Peavler, Clinton, IL; daughter: Korrinne (Griffin) Edwards, IL, 9 grandchildren; and sister, Julie Weaver, St. Louis, MO.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 granddaughter, Daphne Jean Peavler.

 

Sherry worked at Revere Copper & Brass for over 30 years.  She then worked at the DeWitt Co.. Friendship Center.

Norma Blaase

Norma Jean Blaase, 92, of Springfield, IL formerly of Argenta, IL, passed away 5:45 PM August 2, 2019 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village, Springfield, IL.

 

Norma was born September 18, 1926 in Newburg, Macon County, IL to James Pearl and Alice Grace (Miller) Edwards. She married Raymond L. Blaase on June 15, 1946 in Argenta, IL. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2007.

 

Norma is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Wheeler (Gene) of Chatham, IL and Jane Wills (David) of Williamsburg, VA, as well as four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Burl Edwards, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, John, George, and James, and five sisters, Thelma, Dorothy, Lorraine, Maxine, and Elma.

 

Norma attended the Argenta United Methodist Church. She had owned and operated her own beauty shop in Argenta. She enjoyed being a homemaker, and following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren through their formative years. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

 

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at The Bridge Church Fellowship, Argenta, IL with Pastor Bob Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Tuesday at the church. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL with arrangements.

Dottie was born April 13, 1918 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Edward M. and Carrie M. (Weaver) Stone. She married Gerald A. Freeman August 11, 1935 in Clinton, Il. He passed away September 23, 2002.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Winterland, Fairbury, IL; 10 Grandchildren; 24 Great-Grandchildren; and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kay Freeman, Rockford, IL; and son-in-law, Garry Hayes, California.

 

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard, daughter, Barbara Hayes, and son-in-law, Lowell Winderland.

 

Dottie had a strong Christian faith.  She loved spending time with her friends and especially her family.

Ruth Ann was born May 1, 1942 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Lloyd and Mary (Welch) Polen. She married Ronald D. Monkman August 31, 1959 in Clinton, IL. He passed away December 8, 2010.

Ruth Ann faithfully attended the Assembly of God Church in Clinton for many years. She loved spending time with her family.
