Leland D. Stine

Leland D. Stine 91 of Clinton, Illinois, was reunited with his wife, Edna, of 70 years at 4:18 A.M. January 27, 2020 at the Manor Court, Clinton, IL. They are now together in heaven.

 

A Celebration of Leland’s life will be at a later date. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Leland was born November 24, 1928 in Indiana the son of Oscar and Nellie Margaret (Turner) Stine. He married Edna L. Probus May 3, 1947 in Bloomington, IL. She passed away June 30, 2017.

 

Survivors include her children, Larry (Julie) Stine, Kappa, IL; Sandra (Roger) Griffith, Clinton, IL; and Steven (Gina) Stine, Chicago, IL; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren.

 

Leland was preceded in death by his parents, 1 great grandchild, 4 brothers, and 1 sister.

 

Leland was a member of the Woodlawn Church of God and the Assembly of God Church in Clinton, IL; also, he attended the Church of God, Normal, IL. He enjoyed spending time working on his farm in Kenney.

Russell K. Martens

 Russell K. Martens, 60, of Clinton, IL passed away at 2:05 PM, January 23, 2020 at his family residence, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 10 AM, Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, 201 S. Center St., Clinton, IL with Pastor Chuck Bahn officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Cemetery, Heyworth, IL.  Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the funeral home.

Russell was born July 6, 1959 in Bloomington, IL the son of Roger A. and Reta (Dagley) Martens.  He married Sherrie Hazel November 11, 1989 in Bloomington, IL.

 

Survivors include his parents, Roger A. and Reta Martens, Mack Creek, MO; partner, Susan E. Huffman, Clinton, IL; children: Katherine (Tristan) Easley, Macon, IL; Clayton Martens, Clinton, IL; Andrew J. (Shaye) Huffman, Wapella, IL; and Ashley Huffman, Clinton, IL; grandchildren, Wylien James Easley and Westyn Kent Easley; Avery and Adlyn Smith; and Talon and Karsyn Huffman; sister, Roxanne (Martens) Schmid, Heyworth, IL; brothers, Ryan (Sherri) Martens, Bloomington, IL and Reed Martens, Bloomington, IL; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Russell worked at Wallace Press for 30 years and was currently employed at PTC Alliance, Fairbury, IL.  He was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomington, IL.  Russel was a die-hard Cardinal Fan.  He enjoyed watching the “Andy Griffith Show”.

Nellie May Reeder

 Nellie May Reeder 91 of DeWitt, Illinois passed away 5:50 PM January 20, 2020 at Manor Court, Clinton, Il.

 

Graveside Services will be 11 AM, Friday, January 24, 2020 at the DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, Il. with  Scott Marsh officiating. There will be no visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to DeWitt County Animal Shelter.

 

Nellie was born October 3, 1928 in Lexington, IL the daughter of Bert and Elizabeth (Rosenberger) Janes. She married Carl B. Reeder August 19, 1950 in Bloomington, Il. He passed away May 14, 1993.

 

Survivors include her sons, Galen Lee Reeder, Nashville, TN and Albert Lee Reeder, DeWitt, IL; Sister-in-Law Mary Kate “Katie” Fraley, Taylorville, IL; and 3 grandchildren.

 

Nellie was preceded in death by her Parents, and 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

 

Nellie retired from State Farm Insurance, Bloomington, IL.

Henry Elon Zang

Henry Elon Zang, 83 of Wapella, IL passed away 5:59 AM January 18, 2020 at his family home in Wapella, IL.

 

Private family services will be at a later date. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

 

Memorials may be directed to Henry Elon Zang.

 

Henry was born April 4, 1936 in Kewanee, IL the son of Henry Nicholas and Elizabeth (Steer) Zang. On August 26, 1961, he married Stephanie Kane in Bloomington, IL. She passed away August 21, 2004. 

 

Survivors include his daughter, Kim Zang, Wapella, IL, son, Mark Henry (Amy) Zang, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, grandchildren, Madison and Morgan Zang, brother, Rev. Richard Zang, sister-in-law: Denise Kane, brother-in-law, James Kane.

 

Henry was a 1958 graduate of Notre Dame College.

Niceene Kay Connolly

Niceene Kay Connolly, 70 of Wapella, IL passed away 10:58 AM January 22, 2020 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

 

Services will be 7 PM, Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Kim Litwiller officiating. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to the DeWitt County 4-H Foundation or the Illinois Appaloosa Association.

 

Niceene was born September 1, 1949 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Louis G.H. and Verla Maxine (Stone) Busch. She married Gary Dean Connolly August 1, 1969 in Havana, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Gary Dean Connolly, Wapella, IL; son, Paul (Ann) Connolly, Clinton, IL; daughter, Amber (Greg) Willis, Clinton, IL; grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Lauren, and Wyatt; great-grandson, Colt; step-granddaughter, Alyssa; and step-great-grandson, Landon.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Niceene worked at Farm and Fleet in Bloomington, IL and retired after 17 years of service.  She was in the horse industry for 70 years and served for over 30 years on the Board of the Illinois Appaloosa Association.  Niceene was also at DeWitt County 4-H Leader for many years.  She enjoyed spending weekends with her children and grandchildren at horse shows.

Rhea Ida Peterson

 Rhea Ida (Nelson) Peterson, 90, of Clinton, passed peacefully away the morning of Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Liberty Village of Clinton.

 

Services will be at a later time. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

 

Memorials may be directed the Rhea Ida Peterson Memorial Fund.

 

Rhea was born on June 1, 1929 in rural Wapella, IL, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Ida Minerva (Kesecker) Nelson. She married Paul "Bearpaw" Peterson February 13, 1948 in Monticello, IL. Paul passed away July 1992.

 

Survivors include her son, Patrick Peterson, Clinton, IL; daughter, Kelly Garcia, Jourdanton, TX; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and 4 step great grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Michael "Butch" Peterson, an infant daughter, and grandson, William Shane Peterson; 3 sisters, Bonnie Breeze, Aretta Thoms, and Iona Thoms; 5 brothers, Sammy Nelson, Lyle Nelson, Gerald Nelson, Wayne Nelson, and Milford Nelson. 

 

She also had an extended family through the Pow Wows she attended with Bearpaw and was called Mom and Grandma by many who loved her.

 

She attended The First Christian Church, Clinton, IL. She worked and retired from Charles Todd Uniform. Rhea continued to work part time at Modern Cleaners after retirement. 

 

Rhea enjoyed camping and the outdoors, traveling to pow wows with her family, and loved listening to country music -- her favorite being Alan Jackson.  Preparing meals for her family and friends was one of her greatest joys and she was particularly famous for her homemade noodles. Rhea "The Navigator" led a life of many adventures, always ready and willing to pursue the next one! Her greatest adventure has just begun in the reuniting with those gone on before her.

Thomas L. Bundy

 Thomas L. Bundy 83 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 11:19 A.M. January 11, 2020 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorial services will be 11 AM, Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Lane Christian Church, Lane, Il. with Jim Kilson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, Il. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Thursday at the church. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas was born February 26, 1936 in Lane, Illinois the son of Thomas Oren and Coyla Juanita (Parker) Bundy. He married Evelyn Mae (Dubson) Miller September 15, 1972 in Clinton, Il. She passed away August 15, 2002.

 

Survivors include his children, Denise (Amo) Lapitan, Clinton, Il.; and Lynette Falcon, South Bend, IN; 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren; siblings:  Deward (Shirley) Bundy, Clinton, IL; Peggy (Lloyd) Disney, Clinton, Il.; Danny (Connie) Bundy, Clinton, Il.; Nancy (Mike) Casey, Mexico; and Melanie Cheatham, Clinton, Il.

 

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Brother, and 2 Sisters.

Paul K. Ryerson

 Paul K. Ryerson 66 of Clinton, IL passed away 8:18 PM January 6, 2020 at OSF St. Francis HealthCare, Peoria, IL.

 

Memorial services will be 3 PM, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating.  Visitation will be 2 – 3 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Paul K. Ryerson Memorial Fund.

 

Paul was born September 10, 1953 in Pontiac, IL the son of Paul and Mable (Whalen) Ryerson. He married Julie A. Slown March 8, 1980 in Pontiac, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Julie A. Ryerson, Clinton, IL; children, Jeremy Ryerson, Morgantown, WV and Eric Ryerson, St. Joseph, IL; granddaughter, Callie Ryerson, St. Joseph, IL; sister, Janet Johnson, Bloomington, IL; and nephew, Doug (fiancée, Bridget Langdon) Johnson, Bloomington, IL..

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 son, Cory Michael Ryerson.

 

Paul was a member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, and Pheasants Forever as well as an Eagle Scout.  He was a referee and was involved in youth sports.  Paul was the Service Manager at Wilson Chrysler in Clinton, IL for 30 years and worked at Applied Consultants the last 4 years.  He loved to build chairs and to help people.

Phyllis A. Jakoby

 Phyllis A. Jakoby, 86 of Clinton, IL passed away 1:39 PM January 10, 2020 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Crum Cemetery, Wapella, IL with Rev. Fr. James Henning officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Phyllis A. Jakoby Memorial Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

 

Phyllis was born December 31, 1933 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of Alfred and Pauline (Franklin) Stone. She married Marcel Jakoby November 4, 1972 in Sugar Grove, IL. He passed away May 5, 2019.

 

Survivors include her children, Allen (Josette), Clinton, IL, and Eric (Karen), Decatur, IL, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Terry (Nancy), Riverton, WY; and sister, Rita Sue (Gordon), Las Vegas, NV.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, and husband, Marcel.

 

Phyllis worked at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley, IL.  She loved to paint, make crafts, and listening to music.

Randy L. Benz

 Randy L. Benz 65 of Argenta, Illinois passed away 12:40 PM January 11, 2020 at Fair Havens Senior Living Center, Decatur, IL after a courageous battle with ALS.

 

Graveside services will be 11 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL with Pastor T. J. Hahn officiating. Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the ALS Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.

 

Randy was born April 8, 1954 in Decatur, IL the son of Robert L. and Donna L. (Walker) Benz.  He married Frances M. Jones December 17, 1983 in Decatur, IL.  She passed away February 3, 2017.

 

Survivors include his mother, Donna L. Benz, Argenta, Il.; siblings, David (Deana) Benz, Oreana, Il.; and Mary (Rick) Schenck, DeWitt, IL; 1 grandson; 1 nephew, and several nieces.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Spike” Benz, and brother, Robert Alan Benz.

 

Randy worked at Revere Copper and Brass, Inc. until its closure in 1999.  He was a rural postal carrier until his retirement in early 2019.  Randy was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan.  He enjoyed watching Westerns and Army movies.

 

The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to Fair Havens; especially Marche and Jackie, the nursing staff, and his roommate Chad Hale who helped support him during his stay. The family also thanks Ashley and Lori at Elara Caring Hospice.

Rozanne Karr

 Rozanne Karr 96 of Wapella, IL passed away 3:51 A.M. January 6, 2020 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Wapella, IL with Fr. Geoff Horton Celebrant. Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, IL. Visitation will be 3 – 7 PM Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rosary at 7 PM.

Rozanne was born December 17, 1923 in Des Moines, IA the daughter of Edwin Lloyd and Margaret (Roan) Tenny. She married John Mayo Karr April 7, 1942 in Pine Lawn, MO. He passed away February 23, 1998.

 

Rozanne is survived by her children Jo Ann, John “Danny” (Sue), Dwayne (Debbie), Dwight, Durwood “Woody” (Shirley), Alyce, Rita (John) Spencer, Dale (Carla), Dottie (Mike) Anderson, Loretta (Ed) Van Houten, Millie Humes, Peggy Tippett, Dean, Darrell (Brenda), Doyle (Tamara), Elizabeth Cunningham, David, and Amy (Rick) Rueff.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; son Richard “Dick” Karr; and three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

 

Also forty-six grandchildren include; Frank, Tina Benedetto, Richard, Sheri Spencer, Karen Brock, Ned, Sean Spencer, Woody, Leslie Maunsbach, Phillip Anderson, Kurtis, Rusty, Staci Clark, Lisa, Sarah Saner, Steven Woodrum, Wesley, Kimberly, Susan Moreau, Dennis Anderson, Andrew, Kathy Moran, Bryan Humes, Darrell “Joe”, Josh, Adam, Erin Humphries, Joel, Rachelle, Derek, Traci Droke, Mitchell, Tony Girardi, Laura, Jason McCurdy, Jimmy Girardi, Amanda Mock, Dillon Cunningham, Will, Ethan Cunningham, Caleb Cunningham, Anna, and Hannah Cunningham. Preceded in death are grandchildren Brian Anderson, Jennifer Karr and Holly Karr.

Rozanne was an active member of St. Patrick’s church in Wapella for most of her life where she served as the Religious Education Coordinator for more than forty years. She also served on the alter and rosary society and created banners for the church. She was a longtime member and leader of the Home and Community Education Association and served as an election judge in Wilson Township for many years. As the mother of nineteen children she was very active in parent teacher organizations and volunteered in many community groups. She loved butterflies, reading, sewing, and visiting with friends and family.

Karen Sue Barnett

 Karen Sue Barnett 78 of Clinton, IL passed away 11:33 A.M. January 5, 2020 at her family residence, Clinton, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 1 PM Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

Karen was born September 4, 1941 in Kenney, IL the daughter of John Henry and Reva D. (Henderson) Brelsfoard.

 

Survivors include her son, Dale Barnett, Kenney, IL, sister, Beverly (Howard) Hartsock, Clinton, IL, 1 niece, and 3 nephews.

 

Karen had worked at State Farm for 35 years.

Guyneith Snoke

Guyneith L. Snoke 90 of Clinton, IL formerly of Argenta, IL passed away 4:37 A.M. January 3, 2020, at Manor Court, Clinton, IL

 

Services will be 12 Noon, Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Mike Sullins officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL. Visitation will be 10 AM – 12 Noon, Wednesday at the funeral home.

Guyneith was born December 21, 1929, in Argenta, IL the daughter of John and Lula (Evans) Davis. She married C. Dean Snoke on October 29, 1961, in Farmington, IL. He passed away on January 31, 2011.

 

Survivors include her children: Belinda (Jim) High, Kenney, IL; Cherri (Bernie) Mennemeyer, Springfield, IL; Jan (Ben) Cannini, Gahanna, OH, 14 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, along with a good friend of over 70 years, Margaret Bennett, Decatur, IL

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dedee Ferris; son, William David Snoke; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

 

Guyneith retired after 32 years of service with Eldorado Apparel in Decatur, IL. She was also a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of OSF and Manor Court for the wonderful care they gave Guyneith and give a special Thank You to Dr. Gandhi.

Robert Warrick

Robert J. Warrick, 83, of Atlanta, passed away at 9:02 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019, at his home.

 

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

 

Robert J. Warrick was born May 6, 1936, in Atlanta, the son of Merlin and Nadine Heft Warrick.

Bob is survived by one niece, Amy McCallister; one great-nephew, Cody (Brittany) Aughton; one great-niece, Paige Aughton; two great-great-nieces: Oaklyn Gaston and Landry Aughton; and friend, Ann Marquis.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Jack and Larry.

 

Bob graduated from Atlanta High School in 1954. He then served in the U.S. Army. Bob retired from Douglas Dodge Ram in Clinton. He was a member of the Hereford Cattle Association.

 

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
