Elizabeth "Betty" Thompson

Elizabeth "Betty" W. Thompson, 86. of Lincoln, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at The Christian Village in Lincoln.

Private family services will be held. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Elizabeth Wicker was born April 5, 1934, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the Rev. Norvell and Marion Bailey Wicker. She was united in marriage with Donald H. Thompson on December 22, 1956. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2005.

Betty in survived by one daughter, Elizabeth (Bob) Twyman of Middletown; four grandchildren: Jason Allen, Stephanie Lonsdale, Peyton Anderson, and Brock Twyman; and four great-grandchildren: Killyian, Madison, Dawn, and Kaitlynn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Donald B. Thompson; and one brother, Novell Wicker, Jr.

Betty was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Ga. She attended the Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln. She was an accomplished floral arranger who showed her skills and talents in world flowers shows in places such as Chelsea, England and South Africa.

Memorials may be made to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.

Helen Strack

Helen Elizabeth Strack, 86 of Clinton, IL passed away 11:50 PM September 24, 2020 at Illini Heritage and Healthcare Center, Champaign, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

Helen was born June 29, 1934 in Chana, IL the daughter of William Allen and Grace (Newman) Lawson.

 

Survivors include her children, Mark L. Miller, Mahomet, IL and Nancy A. Brady, Urbana, IL, 2 grandchildren, siblings, Ronald Lawson, Texas, Laura Bush, Clinton, IL, and Marilyn Cox, Decatur, IL

Thomas Dodd

Thomas E. Dodd, 81 of DeWitt, IL passed away 9:06 AM September 27, 2020 at his home in DeWitt, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Jonathan Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Thursday at the funeral home.

Thomas was born May 12, 1939 in Monticello, IL the son of Ernest and Anna (Vance) Dodd. He married Shirley Dolores Palmer September 14, 1962 in Clinton, IL. She passed away February 21, 2016.

 

Survivors include his children, Richard D. (Darlene) Dodd, Moyock, NC; Ernest E. (Patricia) Dodd, Clinton, IL; Anita (John) LaFond, Cheyenne, WY; Allena (Scott) Malone, Clinton, IL, 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

 

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Bonnie J. Dodd, 1 grandson, Caleb Helfrich, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.

 

Thomas was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He loved fishing and farming. 

Sarajane "Sallie" Marcotte

Sarajane "Sallie" Marcotte, 79, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at the Richard L. Owens Hospice House in Peoria.

 
All services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln. CDC Guidelines regarding social distancing and face coverings will be followed. The Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible officiating. The service will be livestreamed at www.LoganCountyCatholic.org
 
Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln.
 
Sarajane "Sallie" Aten was born on May 18, 1941, in Peoria, the daughter of Francis Burl and Mildred L. Hawkins Aten. She was united in marriage to William E. "Bill" Marcotte on August 30, 1969, in Peoria. He survives.
 
Also surviving are her children: Richard (Jan) Marcotte and Staci Collins; five grandchildren: Chase, Mason, Eli, and Evan Collins, and Tina Marcotte; one sister: Paula Sue Thompson, and one stepbrother: Tony (Beth) Morgenthau.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather: Edwin F. Morgenthau, and two brothers-in-law: John Thompson and Jerry Marcotte.
 
Salie graduated from Peoria Manual High School in Peoria in 1959.
 
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln and the Lincoln Emblem Club. In her younger years, Sallie was a Professional Baton Twirler. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking family dinners during the holidays and spending time with her little black dog "Mr. Gibbs".
 
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Interior Renovation Fund, Humane Society of Logan County, or Richard L. Owens Hospice House in Peoria.

Agnes "Bonny" Davis

Agnes Josephine “Bonny” Davis, 91 of Clinton, IL passed away 3:37 AM September 25, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Bonny was born March 25, 1929 the daughter of Martin and Margaret (McCann) Bullinger of Johnstown, PA. She married Isaac T. “Bud” Davis December 4, 1948 in Clinton, IL. Buddy Banta was the adopted son of Charles and Emily Banta. He passed away July 6, 1999 after 51 years of marriage.

 

Survivors include her children, Patricia (Larry) Cowman; Phillip (Gabriele) Davis, Decatur, IL; Valerie (Stephen) Sronce; Debra (William, deceased) Strohirch  all of Clinton, IL, grandchildren, Bryan Davis, Michele Davis, Randy Cowman, Thomas Davis, Elke (Ashley) Davis, Janie (Derek) Atteberry, Keeley (William) Lampkin, Austin Thacker, and Alex Davis, along with 6 great grandchildren, who she loved and adored, and brother, James Bullinger.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Margaret Bullinger, sister, Patricia Ann Miller, Bel Air, CA, brother, Richard Bullinger, son, Michael Davis, Kenney, IL, and granddaughter, Amber Cowman, Rosamond, CA.

 

Bonny graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Los Angeles, CA and attended Mount St. Mary’s College in Brentwood, CA.

 

She traveled and lived in many countries, including the Philippines, Turkey, and Greece with her children and husband, he was in the Air Force for 26 years.

 

Bonny volunteered and ran the gift shop at the John Warner Hospital for 15 years.

 

She loved her family, people, traveling, oil painting, playing cards, and BINGO.

Darvin Volker

Darvin Volker, 85 of Clinton, IL passed away 12:15 AM September 25, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM Wednesday September 30, 2020 at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating.. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with military honors. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. The family requests all guests to write down a memory they have of Darvin on a card provided at the funeral home. Masks are requested at the at the funeral home and the church.

Darvin was born December 31, 1934 in Marshall County, IL the son of Herbert and Evelyn (Crone) Volker. He married Elsie Feigert June 1, 1957 in Wenona, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Volker, Clinton, IL, children, Barbara (David Buckalew)Volker, Russellville, AR; Rob (Fiancé Paula Mason) Volker, Clinton, IL; Kevin (Dianne) Volker, Chatham, IL; Kent (Jo) Volker, Chatham, IL; Keith (Sara) Volker, Clinton, IL; Karyn Henson, Clinton, IL, 23 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren with 1 on the way, 8 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Darlene Ioerger, Wenona, IL and Donna (Richard) Oncker, Minonk, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dale Volker, grandsons, Shawn Micheal Volker and Kyle Doyle Volker, and 4 brothers.

 

Darvin was a barber for 59 years and owned his own shop, Darvin’s Barber Shop, for over 50 years. He was a veteran of the U..S. Marines, who was involved with many veteran organizations and was a passenger on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. for recognition for his service to his country. He was also a member of the Clinton Eagles Lodge and Clinton Elks Lodge. Most of all Darvin loved his family dearly.

Christian Reynolds

Christian Alexander Reynolds, 19 of Clinton, IL, passed away 5:05 PM September 19, 2020 at AMG Specialty Hospital, Greenfield, IN..

 

Services will be 11 AM Monday September 28, 2020 at the Frist Baptist Church, Clinton, IL with Pastor John Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, IL.

Visitation will be 2 – 5 PM Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Christian was born April 24, 2001 in Decatur, IL the son of Phillip and Amy (Bateson) Reynolds.

 

Survivors include his parents, Phillip and Amy Reynolds, Clinton, IL, brothers, Koby (Paige Roberts) Reynolds, Clinton, IL; Isaih Reynolds, Clinton, IL; Jonathon Reynolds, Clinton, IL, niece, Keilana Reynolds, paternal grandmother, Lindsay (Noel) McCoy, Farmer City, IL, maternal grandmother, Rhonda Alvarenga, Clinton, IL, maternal grandfather, Francisco Jacinto, Decatur, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Barbara Bateson and grandfather, Dennis Reynolds.

 

Christian loved wrestling, football, coaching, and helping others. Most of all he loved his family and had a smile that could light up the world. With the scholarship he received, Christian was planning to attend Milliken University in Decatur this fall.

 

Even in death, Christian gave life by donating his organs, saving five lives.

Richard Parks

Richard H. Parks 86 of Weldon, IL formerly of Joliet, IL passed away September 22, 2020 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, IL.

 

Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Joliet, IL. There will be no visitation. The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

Richard was born January 11, 1934 in Joliet, IL the son of Joseph and Helen (Clark) Parks.  He married June H. Babbe on June 15, 1954 in Joliet, IL.  She passed away August 29, 2014.

 

Survivors include his children, Cindy Parks, Joliet, IL; Cherie (Steve) Brittin, Weldon, IL; Randy (Susan) Parks, Coal City, IL; Tracy Parks, Sycamore, IL, grandchildren, Suzy; Pam; Dan; Braden; Kevin; Samantha and Harrison; numerous great-grandchildren; former son-in-law, Daniel Oakley, Morris, IL; and siblings, Jean and Don.

 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, 1 infant daughter and infant twin boys; and brothers Charles and Joseph, Jr., and sister, Bonnie.

 

Richard was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a business owner for many years in Joliet, IL.  He could create something out of nothing and was always willing to help anyone.  Richard loved animals, always made people laugh, and enjoyed drinking a beer with friends and family.  Most of all, Richard’s greatest passion in life was his family.  He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

Robert L. O’Dea, Sr.. 90 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 8:59 A.M. September 22, 2020 at Generations of Lincoln, Lincoln, Il.

Robert was born January 14, 1930 in Clinton, IL the son of Dennis and Ila (Riddle) O’Dea. He married Charlotte Pendleton on September 12, 1954 in Heyworth, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife; Charlotte O’Dea, Clinton, IL; son, Robert L. O’Dea, Jr., Clinton, IL; grandsons, Robert Kyle O’Dea, Clinton, IL and Mark Bradley Moore, Simpsonville, S.C.; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace Moore and Rylan Ozias Moore, Simpsonville, S.C.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Robert retired from Illinois Central Railroad as a Brakeman after 26 years of service.  He also farmed in Wapella and Hallsville.

Margaret "Maggie" Schmid

Margaret A. “Maggie” Schmid 60 of Waynesville, IL passed away 9:44 A.M. September 20, 2020 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

Burial will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery, Waynesville, IL.  Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM, Friday, September 25, 2020 at the church.  Face masks will be required at the church. Maggie was born September 18, 1960 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of Philip J. and Nancy A. (Schwoerer) Kohler, Jr.  She married Philip C. Schmid on June 12, 1996 in Waynesville, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Philip C. Schmid, Waynesville, IL; children: Catarino A. “Alex” Villanueva, Decatur, IL; Dustin N. Norby, Normal, IL; Bryanna L. Schmid, Monticello, IL; and Andrew C. (Kaylee) Schmid, Bloomington, IL; mother, Nancy A. Kohler, Bloomington, IL; 6 grandchildren; and siblings:  Emily, Kathy, Barbie, Philip “Tony”, and Amy.

 

Maggie was preceded in death by her father.

 

Maggie worked at ISU for over 30 years as a Building Service Worker.  She loved 4-H, baking, and sewing.  She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Donna Benz

Donna L. Benz 86 of Argenta, IL passed away 12:17 A.M. September 20, 2020 at her daughter’s home in DeWitt, IL.

 

Graveside Services will be 12:30 PM, Friday, September 25, 2020 at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL with Pastor T. J. Hahn officiating. Visitation will be 10 AM – 12:00 Noon at Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL.

Donna was born December 21, 1933 in Argenta, IL the daughter of Fred H. and Mary Etta (Fullerton) Walker, Sr.  She married Robert L. “Spike” Benz February 19, 1953 in Piggott, AR. He passed away April 15, 1994.

 

Survivors include her children, David (Deana) Benz, Oreana, IL; Mary (Rick) Schenck, DeWitt, IL; 4 Grandchildren; 3 Great-Grandchildren; sisters:  Jean Kendall, Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Ruth Pierson, Tallahassee, FL; 6 nieces and 1 nephew also survive; as well as her special friends Roland and Donna Malone, Judy Smith, and Edwin and Kay Wallace. 

 

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Robert Alan Benz and Randy L. Benz; and 1 brother, Fred H. Walker, Jr.

 

Donna worked at the Argenta Post Office – first as a clerk and then served as Postmaster.  She enjoyed “long” lunches with her friends.  Donna was a Tom Selleck fan and enjoyed listening to Country Music – especially Merle Haggard – as well as cooking and family get togethers.  Donna loved the town of Argenta and referred to it as “God’s Country”.

Daeven Jackson

Daeven Alexander Jackson 37 of Clinton, Il. passed away 8:00 PM September 15, 2020 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Daeven was born August 27, 1983 in Normal, Il. the son of Rodney Dean and Becky Sue (Hopkins-Inman) Jackson.

 

Survivors include his father, Rodney (Emily) Jackson, Mesa, AZ;  step-father, Tom Inman, Clinton, IL; uncle, Scott “Hop” Hopkins, Clinton, IL; step-brothers, Travis Logan, Phoenix, AZ and Tyler Logan, Phoenix, AZ; step-grandmother, Ann Huber Hopkins, Springfield, IL; and many great aunts, uncles, and cousins

 

Daeven was preceded in death by his mother, Becky Sue Inman and maternal and paternal grandparents.

 

Daeven graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Meteorology.  He was awarded Outstanding Research Student of the Year in Atmospheric Sciences in 2012.  Daeven enjoyed photography and chasing tornadoes.

Earl D. Woollen

Earl D. Woollen 88 of Clinton, Il. passed away 3:27 PM September 12, 2020 at his family residence, Clinton, Il.

 

Services will be 2:30 PM, Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with Pastor Joshua Gorrie and Georgia Allison officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, Il. Visitation will be 1 – 2:30 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.

Earl was born November 14, 1931 in Clinton, Il. the son of Otis and Merna (Armstrong) Woollen. He married Norma J. Zimmerman May 18, 1952 in DeWitt, Il.

 

Survivors include his wife, Norma J. Woollen, Clinton, Il.; children, Beverly Lynn (Clyde, III) Leggett, Wapella, Il.; Bobbi LouAnn (Thomas) Frost, Lincoln, IL; 7 grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren and 1 on the way, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Ann (Sherman) Wilkerson, Normal, IL.

 

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Gibson; 1 grandchild; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Tom Woollen.

 

Earl served his country in the Army and worked for the State of Illinois. He was a Golden Member of the Eagles Lodge and a member the Elks Club and the Farmer City American Legion.  Earl served as the Mayor of Wapella for 8 years as well as a Wapella Volunteer Firefighter for 14 years.

Stephen Richard Bowling

Stephen Richard Bowling, 73, of DeWitt, IL passed away on August 15, 2020 at Warner Hospital in Clinton, IL.

Steve was born June 30, 1947 at the John Warner Hospital in Clinton, the son of Elwyn and Nodene Mae (Brittin) Bowling. Survivors include one son Jeff Bowling of Clinton, one daughter Suzanne (Capt. Wesley Bannister- US Navy) Bannister; four grandchildren: Danielle, Camden, and Ava Bannister all of London, England and Tyler Bannister of Bethlehem, PA; his sister Carolynn Gawthorp of Princeville, IL and his identical twin brother David (Diane) Bowling of Decatur, IL. Steve was preceded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Yvonne M. Bowling, his parents Elwyn and Nodene Bowling, and 1 sister Joann Fosnaugh.

Steve was Postmaster of Clinton, IL for 30 years (1978-2008), during his 42 ½ years in the Postal Service. He also worked in 45 states as well as Washington D.C.

Steve was currently a member of the DeWitt Township Board. He had also been a member of the Clinton Athletic Booster Club, the Band Boosters, Kiwanis Club, 708 Board in Clinton, and the DeWitt Fair. He was also instrumental in the 911 addressing in DeWitt County. He coached and ran the Clinton YBA league as well as Clinton Church Softball League for 8 years in the 1980s.

Steve’s favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting and water sports. He was a loyal supporter of Clinton’s high school sports programs, University of Illinois athletics as well as the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. He was well known for his ping-pong skills that later transitioned into Pickleball.

Steve will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was known for his sharp wisdom, quick wit, his passion to help others and his infamous wealth of knowledge.

Graveside services for Steve will be 3 PM Sunday September 13, 2020 at DeWitt Cemetery in DeWitt, IL with Rev. Michael Taylor and Ernie Harvey Jr. officiating. Memorials may be made to the Stephen Bowling Memorial Fund for the perpetual care of Jeff Bowling. A luncheon will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene around noon, and after the graveside services, family and friends are welcome to come to the Boondocks for a time of fellowship.

Sandra Ellen Knapp

Sandra Ellen Knapp, 67, of Bloomington, IL passed away at 2:16 PM, September 3, 2020 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Rev. John McInthosh officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Sandra was born August 3, 1953 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of James and Frances (McIntosh) Carsel.

 

Survivors include her children:  Sheri Cox-Nestler and Brian Knapp; 2 grandchildren, Ally Cox and Conor Nestler; niece, Aleyna Carsel; and nephew, Tim Carsel.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Sandra was a great caregiver, and she loved helping people.

Richard L. “Dick” Hitchens, 82, of Oreana, IL passed away 1:21 AM, September 8, 2020 at his residence, Oreana, IL.

Dick was born August 9, 1938 in Clinton, IL the son of L. George and Ruth E. (Hoff) Hitchens, Jr. 

 

Survivors include his partner, Karole Johnson, Oreana, IL; sons, Doug Hitchens (Debbie Mullins), Argenta, IL and Barry (Kris) Hitchens, Decatur, IL; 2 grandchildren, Cooper Hitchens and Carly Hitchens; sisters, Cheryl Lehman, Mt. Zion, IL and Charlene (Ron) Letterly, Leesburg, FL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother in infancy.

 

Dick retired from Borg Warner Corporation/Zexel, Decatur, IL.  He enjoyed classic Oliver Tractors and antique cars and was a member of The Heartland Oliver Collectors Club.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Marty J. Underwood 58 of Pilot Point, TX formerly of Clinton, IL passed away 2:09 PM, August 24, 2020 at Medical City Denton, Denton, TX.

 

Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Marty was born February 14, 1962 in Clinton, IL the son of Joseph W. and Martha M. (Neal) Underwood.

Marty worked for Garland Power Plant in Denton, TX for 28 years. He loved taking family vacations to the Ozarks, along with selling items on eBay.

James R. "Jim" Morrow

James R. “Jim” Morrow, 59, of Wapella, IL passed away at 2:57 PM, September 3, 2020 at his family residence, Wapella, IL.

 

Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. Graveside services will follow at 11:15 AM at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, IL.

James was born January 19, 1961 in Moline, IL the son of Melvin and Lena (Hood) Morrow.  He married Robin Carter, June 18, 1988 in Palos Park, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Robin Morrow, children, Bradley Morrow, Tyler Morrow, granddaughter, Elly, stepmother, Marilyn Morrow, siblings, Kevin (Olivia) Morrow; and Deborah Wadkins. Also surviving are several nieces, and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

 

Jim was a member of the Clinton Eagles Lodge. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, along with enjoying fishing and golf.

Michael Lee Harden

Michael Lee Harden, 72 of Maroa, IL passed away 6:28 PM Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at his home in Maroa, IL.

Michael was born February 11, 1948 in Pawnee, IL the son of Melvin T. and Betty (Monroe) Harden. He married Cheryl Branham June 3, 1967 in Chatham, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Harden, Maroa, IL, children, Troy Harden; Shelia Ryals; Bret Harden; Jennifer Meador; Monica Harmon, sister, Mildred Squires, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth Ann "Ruthie" Musick

Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Musick (nee’ Miner), 76, of Lincoln, IL, passed away 3:21 PM August 30, 2020 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 1:30 PM Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL with Allison Hitchings officiating. There will be no visitation.  The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

 

Memorials in her name may be directed to the Humane Society of Logan County.

 

Ruthie was born October 31, 1943 in Alton, IL the daughter of Wallace Kenneth and Juanita Rose (Sympson) Miner.

 

Survivors include her children:  Lara Ann (Mark) Merriman, Donald Kenneth (Jeanne) Chapman, and Wesley Ronald Musick, all of Clinton, IL; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her loving friend and constant companion of many years, Wayne Carter, and her special furry Yorky friend, Susie.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Kenneth Lee Miner, and her son Anthony James Chapman.

 

Ruthie graduated from Clinton High School in 1961, and afterwards she worked for GTE as a telephone operator and Cutler-Hammer in various positions.  She then worked as a bartender and bar manager for the Bachelor’s Three, Holiday Inn, and Lincoln Elks #914 in the ballroom, dining room, and 19th Hole.  Ruthie was instrumental in the establishment and success of the 19th Hole, which was the pride and joy of her employment; she put her energy into decorating and redecorating the inside and providing hospitality for many years.  All of her working life she served her customers with pride and professionalism.  Through her work, she touched many lives; she will be missed by all.

 

Ruthie’s passions were taking care of her family and pets, whom she loved dearly, and photography, which she shared with her 19th Hole family through the many pictures she posted on the board in the bar.

Sue Rogers

Sue Rogers 83 of Maroa, Illinois passed away 11:08 PM August 23, 2020 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 11 AM, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL with Pastor Joshua Smith officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Sue was born July 31, 1937 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Creed and Euleta (Creek) Jackson. She married John R. Rogers April 15, 1956 in Maroa, Il. He passed away May 30, 2004..

 

Survivors include her children, Leesa (Bob) Hagen, Belleville, IL; Tom (Becky) Rogers, Clinton, Il.; Suzie Rogers, Bloomington, IL; 2 Grandchildren, Andrew Hagen, Sugar Hill, GA and Hollee Hagen, Denver, CO; 2 siblings, Judi (Michael) Payne, The Villages, FL and Steve (Kathy) Jackson, Warrensburg, IL; and brother-in-law, Jerry Hoffman, Blue Mound, IL; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Shirley Hagar and Charlotte Hoffman.

 

Sue was a farm wife, a bank teller in Maroa, a 4-H leader and judge, and a realtor with Lyle Campbell and Sons.  She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and volunteered at Richland Community College Horticulture Department.  Sue moved to The Villages, Florida, for the weather and company, but her heart was back home with her kids, and at the family farmstead.
