John Harris

John “Richie” Harris, 59, passed away at 1:16 p.m. on February 27, 2020, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

 

John was born on December 28, 1960, in Clinton, IL; son of George and Dorothy (Underwood) Harris. He married Penny Ball in 1997 in Lincoln, IL. She survives him.

 

Also surviving John is his parents, his stepson: Joshua Dubson, his siblings: Tony (Cherie) Harris, Dennis (Lori) Harris, and Tina (Randy) Turley, and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his grandparents and one granddaughter: Emma.

 

Cremation rites for John will be accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John’s name to Gift of Hope, www.giftofhope.org.

 

Gary L. McConnell

 Gary L. McConnell 81 of Argenta, Illinois passed away 11:17 A.M. February 22, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Il.

 

Services will be 10 AM, Friday, February 28, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with Pastor Carlton Binkley officiating.  Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL with Military Honors.  Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with Masonic Rites at 7 PM. and 9 AM until the service time Friday at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to Tabernacle Baptist Church or The American Lung Association.

 

Gary was born April 9, 1938 in Decatur, IL the son of Orville and Eloise (Bricker) McConnell. He married Gwen Querrey May 27, 1999 in Springfield, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Gwen McConnell, Argenta, IL; Gary McConnell, Decatur, IL; Doug (Tonya) McConnell, Oreana, IL; Susanna (Bryan) Zimmerman, Columbia, MO; Michael K. (Christina) James, Atlanta, GA; and Andree D. James, Los Angeles, CA; 4 grandchildren:  Emma L. McConnell, Elsah L. James, Harrison James, and Eden B. James.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Gary was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur, IL and served in the Air National Guard, Springfield, IL.  He farmed for over 60 years.  Gary was a 50 year plus member of the Masonic Lodge #871 A.F. & A.M.  He loved to fish and travel, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Sandra J. Laffey

 Sandra J. Laffey 69 of Clinton, Il. passed away 7:36 A.M. February 21, 2020 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Il.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Cody Monkman officiating.  Visitation will be 9 – 11 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.

Sandra was born January 25, 1951 in Richmond Heights, MO the daughter of William and Dorothy (Bode) Duncan.

 

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Duncan, Valley Park, MO; daughter, Alison (Ryan) Elsea, Argenta, IL; granddaughter, Lillian Elsea, Argenta, IL; brother, Craig (Marsha) Duncan, Fenton, MO.

 

She was preceded in death by her father.

 

Sandra was a Spanish and French teacher for over 35 in the Clinton School District.  She enjoyed playing Bunco with the “Bunco Babes” and spending time with her family and friends.

Gerard M. Lacroix

 Gerard M. Lacroix 70 of Kenney, Illinois passed away 1:40 A.M. February 18, 2020 at his family residence, Kenney, Il.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, Il. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Friday at the funeral home.

Gerard was born December 28, 1949 in Suresnes, France the son of Edmond and Fernande (Coulevrat) Lacroix. He married Kathleen M. Edmison on January 25, 1975 in Suresnes, France.

 

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Lacroix, Kenney, Il.; Children, Cynthia (Lawrence) Hunt, Clinton, Il.; Stephane (Alyssa Zieman) Lacroix, Clinton, Il.; Jeremie (Ama) Lacroix, Lincoln, Il.; Anthony (Kylie) Lacroix, Clinton, Il.; Teddy (Ashley) Lacroix, Clinton, Il.; 15 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Josiane Damotte, Bram, France; and special companion and best friend, Kipper.

 

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son, William, Sister, Denise.

 

Gerard enjoyed reading, cycling, animals and learning about history. He was quite the handyman and could fix anything.

Ramona Gail Stroh

 Ramona Gail Stroh 80 of Clinton, IL passed away 3:49 A..M. February 19, 2020 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 3 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Julia Abel officiating. Burial will follow at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, IL. Visitation will be 1 – 3 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association.

 

Ramona was born June 20, 1939 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Orin and Leta (Howard) Hartsock. She married Rodney Stroh August 30, 1959 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Rodney Stroh, Clinton, IL, children, Douglas (Donna) Stroh, Clinton, IL; Debra Jordan, Mahomet, IL; Carol (Alan) Priestley, Mahomet, IL; Cheryl (Bryan) Gerber, Mahomet, IL, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Ramona attended Illinois State University and Illinois Commercial College of Champaign. She was a member, Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and Bible School Director of the Weldon United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker all her life, helping on the family farm as well as being the bookkeeper of the farm. Along with being a 4-H Leader in DeWitt County, Ramona was a member of the Martha’s Circle and the Home Extension. She enjoyed reading Western Romance Books and loved to volunteer. Most of all Ramona loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

 

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Harbor Light Hospice, Liberty Village Nursing Home in Clinton, and Carle Hospital in Urbana for the excellent care Ramona received. 

Stacy Marie Schaefer

 Stacy Marie Schaefer 49 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 6:45 A.M. February 15, 2020 at her family residence, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Jeff Delaughter officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Monday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Stacy Marie Schaefer Memorial Fund.

 

Stacy was born October 24, 1970 in Urbana, IL the daughter of James A. and Pamela (Veach) Schaefer.

 

Survivors include her father, James A. Schaefer, Monticello, IL; fiancé, Alvin Smith, Clinton, IL; children:  Elizabeth (Sabrina) Ingram, Granville, IL; Brittney Cox, Decatur, IL; Davey Cox, Clinton, IL; Ashley Cox, Clinton, IL; Skylar (Nicole) Schaefer, Clinton, IL; and Kelsey (Reinaldo) Baez, Tennessee Ridge, TN; 5 step-children; 22 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Matthew Schaefer, Decatur, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pamela Veach-Kinder, granddaughter, Destiny Cox, and niece, Danielle Schaefer.

 

Stacy enjoyed reading, music, and watching the Golden Girls and Frazier.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Judith Ann Holt

Judith Ann Holt, 70, of Waynesville, Illinois, went to be with her Lord on Thursday February 13, 2020.

 

Born August 10, 1949 in Clinton, Illinois, she was the daughter of Joel and Delores June Edwards [Owens]. She married Kent Holt on May 25, 1968.

 

She worked at Illinois State University in the Office of Residential Life where she retired after 15 years of service. She enjoyed golf, gardening, mornings with her coffee group and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church praise & worship team where her passion for singing could be realized.

 

She is survived by her son Jamison Holt and wife Meggan of Gallatin, TN and Lisa Schillinger and husband Michael Schillinger of Palatine, IL; six grandchildren Alexander (20), Ethan (17), Mason (17), Grant (16), Katherine (13) and Zachary (9). 

 

Visitation services will be conducted from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, February 21, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home 201 S Center St, Clinton, IL. A memorial service will be conducted at 9:00 AM Saturday at Calvert Funeral Home with Maurice Stribling officiating.

 

Judith suffered from a rare and deadly form of brain cancer, glioblastoma. The team of doctors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL worked tirelessly to give her every opportunity of survival.

Wanda Faye Martin

Wanda Faye Martin, 77, of Forsyth, IL formerly of New Mexico and Washington, passed
away at 3:41 PM, February 11, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

No services are planned at this time.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL assisted
the family with cremation rites.

 

Faye was born August 15, 1942 in Maryville, TN the daughter of John L. and Clyda
(Nichols) Bradley.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Kimberlee (Michael Dausey, Jr.) Lambert, Republic,
WA; son, Timothy Hardesty; and sister, Linda Blazeck, Forsyth, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters:  Barbara Cross and Debbie
Bauer.

 

Faye was a nurse for over 20 years and a very hard-working woman.  She loved to Line
Dance and spending time outdoors.

Joshua E. Byrd

 Joshua E. Byrd, 41 of Clinton, IL passed away 3:05 PM February 7, 2020 in Wapella, IL.

 

Celebration of Joshua’s life will be 2 – 5 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at The Abagail, Clinton, IL. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Joshua was born December 30, 1978 in Bloomington, IL the son of George David Byrd and Joyce Alexander.

 

Survivors include his mother and father, Joyce and Larry Graham, Clinton, IL, sister, Tammy (Ginnie) Lee-Viol, East Peoria, IL, 2 daughters, he loved like his own, Jayden Moss and Haven Lieneham, 1 nephew, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Viola Alexander and father, George Byrd.

 

Joshua worked for the Village of Wapella for 2 years. He loved fishing and riding.

 

The family would like everyone to know how proud they are the he was baptized and received into God.

Sandra L. Zeigler

 Sandra “Sandy” L.  Zeigler, 79, of Clinton, IL passed away at 2:55 PM, Friday, February 7, 2020 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Gravesides serves will be 11 AM, Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Sandra was born August 12, 1940 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Raymond and Evelyn (Cockerham) Comer.

 

Survivors include her son, Erik Zeigler (Mendy Wheeler), Clinton, IL; step-daughter, Tere (Mike) Tedrick, Clinton, IL; step-son, John (Kay) Werts, Clinton, IL; grandson, Kyle Zeigler, Clinton, IL; siblings:  Thomas (Linda) Comer, Mattoon, IL; Carol Sue Colbert, Clinton, IL; Nancy (Ted) Roseman, Clinton, IL; and Pamela Lane, Clinton, IL; many nieces and nephews also survive.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick; sister, Patricia Maxwell; and brother, Donald Comer.

ARTHUR  JOSEPH  ROUSSEAU,  JR.


Arthur Joseph Rousseau, Jr. 91 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:10 PM February 3,
2020 at his family residence, Clinton, Il.

Clinton, Il. with cremation rites.

 

Arthur was born November 22, 1928 in Tarentum, PA the son of Arthur and Germaine
(Dercqu) Rousseau. He married Antoinette "Toni" DonGilli on April 21, 1950 in
Tarentum, PA. She passed away April 14, 2018.

 

Survivors include his children, Geri Rousseau, Clinton, Il.; Michael (Teri)
Rousseau, Clinton, Il. and Jonni (Michael Goad) Rousseau, Flower Mound, TX; 6
Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren; and sister, Joanne (Anthony) Sieminski,
Tarentum, PA.

 

Arthur was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Son, Arthur Rousseau; and 3 sisters.

Arthur worked for Wallace Press and retired in 1988.  He was a Pittsburgh Sports
fanatic.

Laura was born January 4, 1946 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Coalman and Nettie
(Miller) Arthur. She married Donald Morgan, Sr. in 1963 in Joliet, IL.. He passed
away.

Survivors include her children, Donald (LaDonna) Morgan, Jr., Channahon, IL; Nettie
Montgomery, Villa Grove, IL; Howard Morgan, Joliet, IL; and Daniel Morgan, Clinton,
IL. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles Leo Morgan, Sr.

She was a living "Coal Miner's Daughter", thank you Loretta Lynn.
