Perry E. "Pete" Troxel

Perry E. ”Pete” Troxel, Jr. 93, of Crest Hill, IL formerly of Decatur, IL passed away 9:02 PM July 27, 2022 at Willow Falls in Crest Hill, IL. He was reunited with Jean to celebrate his heavenly birthday and their anniversary.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. with Jim Kilson officiating. Burial will follow at Lisenby Cemetery, Lane, IL with military honors. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2022 at the funeral home. Per Pete’s wishes everyone is asked to wear your favorite team colors when you come to say your good-byes.

Pete was born July 27, 1929 in Bloomington, IL the son of Perry E. and Marie (Schroeder) Troxel, Sr. He married Martha “Jean” Williams July 29, 1951 in Wayne County, IL the love of his life. She passed away March 17, 2019 after almost 68 years of marriage.
Survivors include his children, Margie (Tom) Corcoran, Joliet, IL; Anne (Mike Brumfield) Troxel, Bowling Green, KY; Becky (Jerry) Buchanan, Decatur, IL; 4 grandchildren, Krystal (Ed) Cicenas, Clinton, IL.; Justin Peel, Joliet, IL.; Jessica (Mario) Jackson, Joliet, IL.; Allie Buchanan, Decatur, IL.; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexis Peel, Zander Cicenas, Dani Jackson and Josie Jackson.
Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents; one son, Danny Troxel; four brothers, Estel, Irvin, Harold, and Donald and one sister, Harriet.
Pete served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Illinois State Lottery. Pete and Jean loved Bingo, spending many a night and weekends hitting the different ones around the Decatur area where they developed many lasting friendships. They continued playing Bingo even after moving to Crest Hill. Pete was an avid bowler. At one time he was bowling in three different leagues and took teams to the A.B.C. Bowling Tournament, the Hoinke Classic in Cincinnati every year, along with various other tournaments. Pete was a softball umpire for the park district and bowling scorer during local tournaments. He was a Chicago Bears Fan and a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, who also collected coins and baseball cards.

Cheyenne A. Lane

Cheyenne A. Lane, 24 of Clinton, IL passed away 8:30 AM July 25, 2022 in rural chestnut from injuries resulting from a two vehicle accident.


Visitation will be 2 – 4 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.  Cremation rites will follow.  A time to celebrate Cheyenne’s life will follow the visitation at Breaker’s, Clinton, IL.

She was born August 20, 1997 in Decatur, IL the daughter of James D. and Elizabeth (Brockel) Lane.


Survivors includer her parents, James D. and Elizabeth Lane, Clinton, IL; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Lane, Clinton, IL; brother, John A. Lane, Fort Worth, TX; sister Katelyn (Robert) Miller, Decatur, IL; four nieces and two nephews.


Cheyenne loved to play pool and never met a stranger. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Patsy "Pat" Eileen Barclay

Patsy “Pat” Eileen Barclay, 78 of Kenney, IL passed away at 5:43 PM July 27, 2022 at her family residence in Kenney, IL.


Graveside services will be 1 PM, Monday, August 1, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL with her son Danny Barclay officiating.  The funeral procession to the cemetery will leave from Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL at 12:30 PM on Monday for any friends that would like to join in.

Pat was born April 17, 1944 in Kenney, IL the daughter of Paul and Mary Doris (Gaultney) Clary.


Survivors include her five children: Jerry (Kim) Turner, Braidwood, IL; Teresa (Curt) Short, Kenney, IL; Karen (Rick) Campbell, Decatur, IL; Danny Barclay, Kenney, IL; and Bobbi (Rod) Morse, Kenney, IL; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters:  Sharon (Melvin) Buggar, Cheryl Robb, and Sue (Harry) Brand.


She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, two sisters, and five brothers.


Pat was a member of Blessed Hope Seventh Day Adventist Church in Clinton.  She worked at Revere Copper & Brass, Inc. and retired from the Clinton School District where she was a Custodian.  Pat enjoyed gardening, riding her bike, watching hummingbirds and helping people.  She loved her dogs, but most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.

John M. Bingiel, Jr.

John M. Bingiel, Jr., 68, of Clinton, IL passed away at 2:03 PM, July 24, 2022 at Carle BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, IL.


A Celebration of John’s Life will be at a later date.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL assisted the family with cremation rites.


Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.


John was born January 6, 1954 in Weirton, WV the son of John M. and Audrea Jane (Brown) Bingiel, Sr.  He married Marianne Kohring on March 17, 1984 at Funks Grove, McLean, Co., IL.


Survivors include his wife, Marianne Bingiel, Clinton, IL; son, Jonathan S. Bingiel, Clinton, IL and daughter, Chelsea L. (Josh Gordon) Bingiel, Madison, WI; and two sisters and two brothers.  One niece and several nephews also survive.


John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.


John was retired.  He enjoyed watching football and baseball – especially the Pittsburgh Stealers and the Chicago Cubs.  One of John’s favorite pastimes was listening to NPR in the garage.

Terrence A. Zieman

Terrance A. Zieman, 69, of Normal, IL passed away 2:48 PM July 19, 2022 at his family home in Normal, IL.


Services to be held at a later date. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.


Terrance was born April 5, 1953 in Cicero, IL the son of Alvin and Agnes (Popelka) Zieman.


Survivors include his daughters, Angie (Martin) Thacker, Clinton, IL. and Alyssa (Stephane LaCroix) Zieman, Clinton, IL; grandchildren, Noah Benson, Trayse and Paislyn LaCroix, and Saylah Zieman; along with several siblings.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


Terrance enjoyed collecting military memorabilia, antiques, and building model cars and trains.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Becky Jane (Sturgeon) Grant

Becky Jane (Sturgeon) Grant, 69 of Clinton, IL passed away 10:15 AM July 15, 2022 at her home in Clinton, IL.

Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL with Rev. Mark Cooper officiating. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Becky was born August 3, 1952 in DeWitt County the daughter of Thomas W. “Shorty” and Norma J. (Patterson) Sturgeon. She married David A. Grant April 6, 1991 in Decatur, IL. He passed away April 19, 2016.

Survivors include her son, Donald W. Sturgeon, Decatur, IL, grandchildren, Zachary Cooley, Ashley Biggs, Tylar Biggs, Danielle Baumgartner, Bobby Sturgeon, and Billy Sturgeon, along with many great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents, and daughter, Donna Jean Biggs.

Becky loved riding horses, camping, and raising dogs.

Margaret L. Elliott

Margaret L. Elliott, 92, of Argenta, IL passed away 7:51 A.M. July 13, 2022 in her residence surrounded by family.


Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL with Pastor Jonathan Scott officiating. Visitation will be 12 – 1 PM Saturday at Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL.


Margaret was born July 16, 1929 in Springfield, MO the daughter of Lonnie and Wilma (Walton) Alexander. She married Gerald E. Elliott December 10, 1949 in Taylorville, IL. He passed away January 22, 1982.


Survivors include her son, Kenneth G. (Sandi) Elliott, Fisher, IL and daughter, Dianne L. Kostner, Argenta, IL.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Wanda Ford, and two brothers, Don Barbee and Leonard Barbee.


Margaret graduated from Woodruff High School, Peoria, IL and attended Bradley University.  She joined the Argenta Presbyterian Church on January 29, 1956 and served as church school superintendent, choir member, deacon, elder, chair and secretary of PW (women’s group).  She was a member of DMH Lodestar and the Prairie River Historical Society.  Margaret worked at Decatur Memorial Hospital for 23 years as a computer operator and procedure writer.

Nancy Ann Kleinman

Nancy Ann Kleinman, 64, of Clinton, IL, formerly of Lincoln, IL, passed away at 7:14 PM July 7, 2022 at Warner Hospital and Health Services Clinton, IL.


Memorial Services will be 4 PM, Friday, July 15, 2022 at The Clinton Assembly of God Church, 801 S. Mulberry St., Clinton, IL with Pastor Nick Blacklidge officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Nancy was born July 15, 1957 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of Robert and Maria “Nan” (Quiñones) Thomas.  She married John Kleinman in September 1982 in Lincoln, IL.


Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Zachary) Griffin, Clinton, IL and son, Andrew (Danielle) Kleinman, Springfield, IL; three grandchildren, Olivia Diamond, Hunter Diamond, and Jackson Griffin all of Clinton, IL; brothers, William (Tammy) Thomas, Oklahoma City, OK and Steven (Martha) Thomas, Farmington, NM.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.


She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Thomas.


Nancy attended the Clinton Assembly of God Church.  She worked for the State of Illinois for over 20 years in the Department on Aging.  Nancy never met a stranger.  She especially loved spending time with her family.

Rodney L. Rogers

Rodney L. Rogers was welcomed into Heaven on July 7, 2022 at 7:50 a.m. at his home.


Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr., Rich Turney, and Kevin Peterson officiating. Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.


Rodney was born on November 7, 1956 to George and Betty Rogers in Decatur, Illinois.  Rodney attended the Clinton school system where he ultimately met and married his high school sweetheart, Pam, on November 1, 1974.  They were blessed with 5 children:  Derek, Alex, Kirsten, Mattie and Kate.


Rodney was the owner and operator of Rogers’ Tree Expert Co. and Rogers’ Complete Concrete Co., which he started in 1978.  In 1989, Rodney opened Rogers’ Clinton Readi-Mix.  Rodney officially retired after closing the Readi-Mix plant on December 31, 2021.


Always community minded, Rodney served on many boards including The DeWitt County Board and CUSD #15 School Board.  Once accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in 1981, Rodney and Pam joined First Christian Church of Clinton where Rodney served as a deacon and was on the building and grounds committee for many years.


Rodney possessed a special ability to provide a warm welcome to every person he met.  His favorite pastime was cutting firewood and he dearly missed doing that over the last two years.


Survivors include his wife, Pam; children:  Derek Rogers; Alex (Jenny) Rogers; Kirsten (Josh) Arellano; Mattie Rogers; Kate Rogers; grandchildren:  Tristan and Mia Rogers, Parker and Olivia Rogers, Liam and Luca Arellano; sister, Rhonda (Dave) Roberts.


He was preceded in death by both parents and one grandson, Dylan Rogers.


The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for the diligent care they provided for Rodney over the last 5 months.

Dixie Lee (Cooley) LeRoy

Dixie Lee (Cooley) LeRoy was born April 13, 1931 in Clinton, IL and left this life on July 6, 2022 in Shreveport, LA, at the age of 91.

Dixie was a homemaker and after her husband retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad they moved from Park Forest, IL to Biloxi, MS. Due to her failing health and death of her husband, Dixie moved to Shreveport, LA to be closer to family. She resided at the Glen Retirement Home until her death. Dixie loved to make people laugh with her unusual sense of humor.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Ada and George Cooley; husband, Harry Daniel LeRoy; and son, Daniel LeRoy. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Steele (Tom) of Mokena, IL; son, Stephen LeRoy (Kay) of Shreveport, LA; four grandchildren, Rachel Steele, Emily Duracka (Brian) of Illinois, Kathryn Hoffman (Brad) and Daniel LeRoy of Louisiana; five great grandchildren (her “GG’s”), Allison, Brian, and Eric Duracka, Elizabeth “Ella” and Brock Hoffman.

The family is grateful to those who spent time with her in her declining years.

Dixie Lee Cooley LeRoy will be buried between her husband and son in Clinton, IL at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Scott Matthew Seppi

Scott Matthew Seppi, 46, of Clinton, IL passed away at 11:53 PM July 5, 2022 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.


Private family services will be held at Calvert Funeral Home Clinton, IL.

Scott was born November 17, 1975 in Joliet, IL the son of Rudolph and Judith A. “Judy” (Tallman) Seppi.


Survivors include his father, Rudy Seppi, Kenney, IL; siblings, Jamie (Herman) Jolly, Plainfield, IL, Danny (Mariya) Seppi, Symerton, IL, and Mark Seppi, Kenney, IL; two nieces Elizabeth (Donny) Furbee, Newark, IL, and Donna Dobson, Clinton, IL; two nephews Stephen Michael Jolly, Plainfield, IL, and Daniel Rudolph Seppi, Peotone, IL; and one great-niece Finleigh Judith Rose Furbee, Newark, IL.


Scott was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, David Joseph Seppi.



Scott was an animal lover who adored his two cats Isis and Picasso. He enjoyed watching a variety of animal shows on TV. Scott was loved by his family and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Randie Meade

On June 23, 2022 our Lord and Savior welcomed Randie L Meade into the gates of Heaven. 


Randie was born in Maroa, Illinois to Ronald and Virginia Garfoot.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Ronda & Rita, her ex-husband & friend Sam Meade, her close friends Georgia and Yvetta and her cherished furr baby Callie. 


She is survived by her sister Rae Ann Sperry (Clinton, Il.), her children Sandy Meade (Cicero, In.), Steve Meade (Clinton, Il), Sharon Ceniceros Meade (Clinton, Il) and one grandson, Damian Ceniceros Meade (San Diego, Ca).


Randie loved to laugh, do puzzles, and listen to her favorite band Home Free.  Her most cherished time was just spending time with her family, going out to lunch, and playing cards (yes, she cheated but in a way that made you always smile). The minute you came into her life you became family and she would tell everyone to call her mom.


She worked for the United State Postal Service in Springfield for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of the Rebecca Oddfellows Lodge.


Arrangements will be handled by Calvert Funeral Homes of Clinton, IL.  The family will be having a private service.

Harold “Harry” Daniels, Jr. 72 of Clinton, IL passed away 8:17 A.M. June 29, 2022 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.


Services will be 10 AM Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. David Dunlop officiating. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Friday, July 1, 2022 at the funeral home.

Harry was born November 11, 1949 in Clinton, IL the son of Jesse Harold and Jacquetta J. “Jackie” (Davis) Daniels. He married Emma Lee “Emmy” Cundiff April 14, 1973 in Clinton, IL.


Survivors include his wife, Emmy Daniels, Clinton, IL, children, William Joseph (Lisa) Daniels, Clinton, IL; Jessica Lee (Russ) Foehr, Clinton, IL, three grandchildren, Preston Lee Daniels; Leah Marie Foehr; Parker David Daniels, sister, Juanita (Jim) Morris, Clinton, IL.


Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Joseph T. “Joe” Daniels, Sr.


Harry had worked at Baum Chevrolet Buick, Clinton, IL as their Shop Foreman and Service Manager, retiring after 46 years of service. He enjoyed working on cars, especially hot rods.


Earl P. Maynard

Earl P. Maynard, 92, of Gifford, IL, formerly of Clinton, IL passed away at 11:06 AM, July 4, 2022 at Country Healthcare and Rehab, Gifford, IL.


Services will be 12:00 PM, Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Jim Kilson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 11 AM – 12 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.


Memorials may be directed to the Lane Christian Church.


Earl was born January 7, 1930 in Gallatin County, Shawneetown, IL the son of William Everett and Elizabeth Faye (Pritchard) Maynard. He married Anita Jane Smith September 6, 1958 in Norris City, IL. She passed away August 26, 2002.


Survivors include his daughter, Sandra (Wes) Hardt, Sharon, WI; stepchildren, Roger Kilzer, Charleston, IL; and Vicky (Larry) Wurl, Rantoul, IL; sister, Vanda (Dwight) Turner, Norris City, IL; sisters-in-law, Joanne Maynard and Glenda Maynard; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews also survive.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers:  Bill, David, Max, Clyde, Herbert Eugene, Bob, Donnie, and Larry Maynard; and sisters, Kathleen, and Eileen Koberlein.


Earl received his education in Shawneetown.  He was a very hard worker and he took pleasure in every job he did.  He especially loved being a welder.  Earl loved his family and he was a mild and generous man.  He attended Lane Christian Church in Lane, IL and he resided in Clinton, IL until his final days in Gifford, IL at Country Health Care Center for the last 3 years.  Earl loved fishing and taking care of tomatoes in his garden.  He loved going to the Friendship Center and eating lunch where he met and enjoyed other Seniors.
