Dorothy Greenarch

Dorothy Lee Greenarch “Mamo”, 89 of White Heath, IL passed away 3:31 PM August 25, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.


Graveside services will be 11 AM, Monday, August 30, 2021 at Ingram Cemetery, White Heath, IL with Pastor Seth Emerson officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL with arrangements.


Memorials may be directed to The White Heath United Methodist Church or The White Heath Community Center.


Dorothy was born February 7, 1932 in Louisville, KY the daughter of Jack Benny and Johanna (Dolan) Cummings. She married William Clayton Greenarch, Jr. September 10, 1949 in Seymour, IL. He passed away February 20, 2010.


Survivors include her children: Mark Edward (Carla) Greenarch, Ivesdale, IL; Dennis Clayton Greenarch (Roni), Bement, IL; Lisa Rose Greenarch, Cisco, IL; and Lori Renee (Steve) Harper, White Heath, IL; eight grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren; and sister, Teresa Rose Stiles, Louisville, KY; she is also leaving behind the Bell Brothers:  Mike, Larry, and Arthur.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jack Cummings.


Dorothy retired from and was also multiple times the Employee of the Year at Capitol Record Club and Leggs Inc., Champaign, IL.

Corwin Burris

Corwin “Cord” Burris 88 of Clinton, Illinois passed away peacefully at 1:35 AM August 26, 2021 at Liberty Village, Clinton, IL with his family at his side.


Services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr., Mike Cahill, and Allison Hitchings officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Monday, August 30, 2021 at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Corwin was born October 15, 1932 in Wapella, IL the son of Robert Jackson and Ida May (Cox) Burris. Cord’s father passed away when he was only three years old and his mother was left to raise six sons.  He started working at a very young age.  He was The Pantagraph carrier for the Village of Wapella for many years as well as helping farmers in the area.  He always had a job, went to Wapella Schools, played basketball, baseball, and ran track and was good at all of them.  He graduated in 1950 and was drafted into the Army on January 26, 1953 as a PFC and did his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.  This was during the Korean Conflict, but he spent the most of his time in Germany.  He was discharged on January 24, 1955 receiving the National Defense Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.  He served in Company C of the 547th Engineer Battalion in Germany.  For 59 years, he worked for The Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.  Cord married Judy Wickenhauser October 27, 1967 in Wapella, Il.


Survivors include his wife, Judy Burris, Clinton, IL; daughter, Robin (Kim) Lecouris, granddaughters, Miranda (Ryan) Freeman and Melanie Lecouris, grandson, Kyle Lecouris, all of Clinton, IL and three great-grandchildren, Willow and Riley Freeman and Marshall Smith.


Cord was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Leonard, Jack, Thomas, Bob, and Don, and sister, Betty Jean.


Cord was a member of the American Legion Post 103 and Clinton Elks and served many years on the Clinton Police and Fire Commission retiring in December 2011.  Cord loved boating and fishing at Clinton Lake, Lake Lida in Minnesota, and Canada, playing cards, and staying busy.  After retirement he enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at the local restaurants.


Cord loved his family and many friends and will be missed by so many.

Martha Hoffman

 Martha “Ann” Hoffman 81 of Clinton, IL passed away 12:50 A.M. August 23, 2021 at her family residence, Clinton, IL.


Graveside services for Martha and Bob will be at a later date at Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Rev. Mark Cooper and Rev. Jeff DeLaughter officiating. Military honors will follow.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Martha was born July 30, 1940 in Forsyth, GA the daughter of Leonard and Pauline (Moreland) Hamby. She married Donald Robert Hoffman, Sr. December 26, 1957 in Yuma, AZ. He passed away August 25, 2020.


Survivors include her son, Donald (Tammy) Hoffman, Jr., Yellville, AR; granddaughter, Brittney Dalton; 2 great-granddaughters, Gretchen Rhea-Ann Dalton and Emoreigh Layne Dalton; sister, Toni Awtry, Barnesville, GA; brothers, Harry (Faye) Hamby, Barnesville, GA and Pete (Kathy) Hamby, Prescott Valley, AZ.


She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leon Hamby, and sister, Doris Conkle.


Ann was a member of the Woodlawn Church of God and an avid believer in the bible, who loved God and family.

Mabel Rosine Rich

 Mabel Rosine Rich 96 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 4:35 A.M. August 23, 2021 at Park Pointe Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Morris, Il.


Services will be 2 PM, Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Nick Blacklidge officiating. Burial will follow at Willmore Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 1 – 2 PM, Friday at the funeral home.


Memorials may be directed to The Clinton Assembly of God Church or The DeWitt County Friendship Center.


Mabel was born April 28, 1925 in Birkbeck, IL the daughter of Nathan and Mary Ona (Spencer) Welch. She married Gilbert T. Manigan September 16, 1942 in Rockford, IL. He passed away March 17, 1999. She later married Jim Rich April 9, 2005 in Clinton, IL. He passed away August 14, 2018.


She is survived by her son, Tom (Cindy) Manigan, Minooka, IL; three grandchildren,  seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, and brother, Merle Welch, Clinton, IL.


Mabel was preceded in death by her daughter, Anna Stepp; granddaughter, Chele Spears; three brothers and three sisters.


Mabel and Gilbert owned and operated the Gold-N-Rise Donut Shop in Clinton.

Robert F. Adcock

 Robert F. “Bob” Adcock 87, a lifelong Clintonian who spent his last few years in Pontiac was reunited with his beloved wife Lootie at 3:32 PM on August 18, 2021.  It is reported that Heaven got a whole lot chattier with his arrival, as Bob was never known to have met a stranger.


Bob married Laura Lou “Lootie” Newberry on March 31, 1954, and when she passed on Sept. 20, 2004, a part of his heart left with her.  We are so thankful that his heart is full again.


Bob was born on March 16, 1934 in Clinton, IL, the son of Joseph C. and Etta E. (Craft) Adcock.  He lived an incredibly full life, and had three children Nanette (Jim) Strange, The Villages, FL; Brenda (Jerome) Blattner, Tampa, FL; Bob (Deb) Adcock, Pontiac, IL; six grandchildren Josh (Theresa) Strange; Jamee Strange; Adam Blattner; Alex (Bree) Adcock; Andrew Adcock; and Aaron Adcock; five great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, David, and Caleb Strange; Anna Lou and Emma Adcock.


Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers John and Joe.

Bob was a devoted husband to Lootie, and deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He worked hard and was a loyal and true friend.


Bob grew up on a farm that he loved, served his country as a Seabee in the US Navy in Guam, worked on the railroad and was a proud union plumber and pipefitter, and ran the welding test shop at Clinton Nuclear Power Station.  He was a member of First Christian Church in Clinton and Local #99 in Bloomington, IL as well as the American Legion.


Visitation will be held, Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 1 – 3 PM at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL.  Services will begin immediately thereafter (3 PM) with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, IL with Military Honors.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements. 


Memorials may be directed to Clinton First Christian Church, Little Galilee Christian Assembly, or Southern Illinois Honor Flight.


Michael Wayne Angel 62 of Farmer City, IL passed away 11:49 A.M. August 19, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL


Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday September 2, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL assisted the family with arrangements.

Michael was born May 27, 1959, in Clinton, IL the son of Earl Lee and Betty Lucille (Works) Angel.


Survivors include his partner, Maddie Brady, Farmer City, IL; children, Tracy Renee (Michael) France, Wesley Chapel, FL, Justin Michael Angel, Kingman, AZ; grandchildren, Savannah Angel, Michael France, Jr., Tyson France; stepson, Matt Miller, Bloomington, IL; step grandchildren, McKenna Miller, Anna Miller, E’va Miller all of Champaign, IL; Maddie’s daughter, Christina Huff, Lincoln, IL and her daughter, Alyssa Keator, Lincoln, IL; siblings, Linda Marie (Angel) (Brian) Diskin, Fithian, IL; Ricky Lee (Beverly) Angel, Clinton, IL.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


Mike attended Clinton High School. He worked for Revere Copper & Brass for 22 years then as a meat cutter at IGA in Farmer City. He loved the outdoors, hiking and rodeos. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family.

Betty Johnson

Betty L. Johnson of Clinton, Illinois, formerly of Newman, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday evening, August 18, 2021 at Manor Court of Clinton.


She was born in rural Newman, December 7, 1928, to E. David and L. Jewell (Soards) Wax. She was Valedictorian of the Newman Township High School Class of 1946. She married the love of her life, Keith ???Pete??? Johnson, on September 20, 1947 in Newman. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2001.


Betty graduated from Champaign Beauty School in 1947. She had a salon in Hume for four years before her and Pete moved to rural Chrisman to farm. From then on, she was a farmer. She operated everything on the farm at one time or another, except the planter. Her main job was tillage. In addition, she had beautiful flower beds, a large garden, and enjoyed mowing. She canned many fruits and vegetables. She was an excellent seamstress and loved for her home to be decorated with countless Christmas lights.

She is survived by two daughters, Leigh (Randy) Snyder of Metcalf, Illinois, and Jo (Steve) Miller of Clinton, Illinois, former daughter-in-law, Bonnie Johnson (Charles Smith) of Alvin, Illinois, and a son, Marc. She will be dearly missed by her six grandchildren, Klynt (Sheila) Johnson of Ridge Farm, Jaree Johnson (Rick Smith) of Madison, Alabama, Shaye (Andrew) Huffman of Wapella, Jaye (Pat) Sanstrom of Newman, Sydne (Matt Turner) Miller of Clinton, and Trey (Chelsea) Miller of Clinton. She leaves behind her seven precious great-grandchildren, Talon and Karsyn Huffman, Layke and Anchor Sanstrom, Samuel and Kaden Johnson, and Mackenna Miller.


Visitation will be Sunday, August 22, from 4-6pm at the Joines Funeral Home in Newman, Illinois with a Celebration of Life on Monday, August 23 at 10:30am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery, north of Newman. Donations to the family will be used to establish a scholarship for women in agriculture.

Wilma M. Buraglio

 Wilma M. Buraglio, 95, of Clinton, IL passed away at 4:10 PM, August 13, 2021, at The Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton, IL.


Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clinton, IL with Rev. Fr. James Henning, celebrant.  Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 9:30 – 11 AM, Saturday at the church.

Wilma was born May 20, 1926, in Clinton, IL the daughter of Henry and Nina (Linderman) Matthews.  She married Sero Felix “Sonny” Buraglio on May 20, 1943, in Rantoul, IL.  He passed away April 11, 1997.


Survivors include her children:  Victor (Bonnie) Buraglio, Champaign, IL; Dennis (Jean) Buraglio, Clinton, IL; and Susie Alexander, Clinton, IL; seven grandsons:  Mark Buraglio; Jeff (Kim) Buraglio; Nick (Rebecca) Buraglio; Tony (Nicole) Buraglio; Michael (Ela) Buraglio; Brian Alexander; and Justin (Tori) Alexander; five great-grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.


She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Buraglio; two brothers and eight sisters; and grandson, Christopher A. Buraglio.


Wilma worked at Sud’s Center Laundromat in Clinton, IL.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.


Philip Charles Schmid

 Philip Charles Schmid, 58 of Waynesville, IL passed away 3:20 PM August 13, 2021 at his family home, Waynesville, IL.


Services will be 10 AM, Friday, August 20, 2021 at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL with Cassandra Benton officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery, Waynesville, IL. Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM, Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Philip was born June 28, 1963 in Bloomington, IL the son of Edward Charles and Joyce Elaine (Wakefield) Schmid, Jr. He married Roxanne Martens.  He later married Margaret Kohler on June 12, 1996 in Waynesville, IL. She passed away September 20, 2020.


Survivors include his children, Bryanna Schmid, Monticello, IL and Andy (Kaylee) Schmid, Bloomington, IL; step-sons, Alex Villanueva, Decatur, IL and Dusty Norby, Normal, IL;  grandchildren:  Fynlee Schmid and Ajaye Reetz, both of Bloomington, IL; Mia Grace, Sonny, Bella, Dominic, and Letty Villanueva, all of Clinton, IL;  siblings, Judy Mowery, Heyworth, IL; Larry (Kathy) Schmid, Waynesville, IL; Marti (Rene Stidham) Schmid, Macks Creek, MO; Christine (Fritz) Robinson, Kenney, IL; Bonnie Schmid, Clinton, IL; Paul (Laurie Burk) Schmid, Waynesville, IL; and Kevin (Debby) Schmid, McLean, IL.


He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Steve.


Philip attended Wapella Schools and graduated in 1982.  He worked for Wallace Press, Clinton, IL and currently was working for Starcrest Cleaners-Hermes Management, Bloomington, IL.  Philip was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL.  He loved horses and he especially loved his dog, Angus.

Janet Ann Ruyle

 Janet Ann Ruyle, 80 of Kenney, IL, passed away 1:30 PM August 16, 2021 at her family home in Kenney, IL.


Services will be 2 PM, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Mike Cahill officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Friday, August 20, 2021 at the funeral home.

Janet was born September 12, 1940 in Sandoval, IL the daughter of Monroe and Wilma (Foltz) Pfeffer. She married Joseph Wardell Ruyle October 21, 1983 in Heyworth, IL. He passed away March 7, 2012.


Survivors include her children, Denise (Rick) Johnson, Kenney, IL; Bryan (Robyn) Schanafelt, Scottsdale, AZ; Sheila (Steve) Taylor, Mississippi; stepchildren, Jeffrey W. Ruyle, Clinton, IL; Kimberly Jo (Brian) Vinson, Camdenton, MO; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Hintz, Sandoval, IL; and special brother, Roger Jones, Naples, FL.


She was preceded in death by her parents.


Janet and her husband Joe owned and operated The Depot in Kenney for over 20 years.  She enjoyed crocheting, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Alvin A. Ayers

Ayers, Alvin A. (Al), 86, passed away peacefully in St. Petersburg, Florida, on August 2, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vicki; his children, Mark (Susan), Christy Daum (Doug), Andrew aka Butch (Leisa), and Allen (Sunny); several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces. Al was born on May 19, 1935, in Clinton, Illinois, and grew up in Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father Elray Walter Ayers (Demaris) of Waterloo, Iowa, mother Wava Sprague of Clinton, Illinois, and brothers Richard {MIA Vietnam) and Lenard Ayers. A private service will be held by the family.


Victor "Vic" Ranney

A long-time Clinton businessperson has died. Victor “Vic” Ranney, who owned Border Control Pest Control for over 20 years, died on July 28th.


Visitation for Ranney will be held this Friday afternoon from 2 til 4, at First Christian Church, 3350 N. MacArthur Road in Decatur. A Celebration of Life service will start directly after the visitation at 4 p.m.


Mildred Coppage Schutte Frese

 Mildred Coppage Schutte Frese, 99 of Clinton, IL formerly of Quincy, IL passed away 10:28 AM August 1, 2021, at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.


Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton, IL with Rev. Fr. James Henning celebrant. Visitation will be 10:30 – 11:30 AM Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 5, 2021, at Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, IL. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements..

Mildred Ellen Coppage Schutte Frese was born July 12, 1922, in Macon, MO the daughter of Cecil E. and Iva Mae (Wood) Coppage. She married Leo H. Shutte, her husband of 46 years, on April 18, 1942; Leo passed away July 13, 1988, in Quincy, IL. Later, she married Albert E. Frese September 22, 1990, enjoying 20 years with Al until his passing on January 12, 2011, in Quincy, IL.


Mildred and Leo were blessed with three children, John L. Schutte; he passed May 12, 1988, Sandy Peters, she passed December 15, 2014, and Kathy (Michael) Rakers of Clinton, IL. Her marriage to Al included three stepchildren, Jack (Sybil) Frese of FL, Julie (Michael) Reiter of Quincy, IL and Rod (Jan) Frese of Quincy; he passed June 28, 2020.


Also surviving, Millie, are four grandchildren, Michelle Peters, Jonathan (Rose) Rakers, Jason (Colleen) Rakers, and Melissa White, five step grandchildren, Gina (Brad) Dietrich, Jen (Dustan) Kern, Kimberly Sammartino, Philip Frese, and Ryan Frese; eight great grandchildren, Carlie Schroeder, Ashley, and AJ Rakers, Sydney, Katelyn, and Michael Rakers, and Jaxson and Briggs White along with three great step grandchildren, Taylor Dietrich and Jacob and Michael Kern.


She was preceded in death by her parents.


Mildred worked at various jobs throughout her adult life being most proud of being a CNA at St. Mary’s Hospital in Quincy and later for Adams County Health Department.


Her favorite saying was, “It’s a great life, if you don’t weaken.” She was a survivor; she lost two husbands and two children. She survived breast cancer and at the age of 98 survived COVID. Millie was devoted to her family and friends. She loved life. At times she could be ornery but that is what made her special.
