Norma J. Rich of Clinton

Norma J. Rich, 85, Clinton, died at 4:30 a.m. Oct. 27, 2012, at The Christian Village, Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Clinton. Jim Rich and Penny Rich will be officiating. Burial  will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville. Norma was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Clinton, the daughter of Theodore Roseman and Eleanor Foster. She married Carl Dean Rich on Dec. 26, 1947, in Clinton. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 2007.

Surviving her are children, Jim (Teri) Rich, Mason City, and Penny (Leonard Dinges) Rich, El Cajon, Calif.; three grandchildren, Josh (Kelly) Rich, Alton; Amanda (Justin) Morgan, Virginia Beach, Va.; and Sita (Emmett) Gleeson, Crete; five great-grandchildren, Katherine and Nathanael Rich, Jack Morgan, and Autumn and E.J. Gleeson; two brothers, Jerry (Betty) Roseman, Decatur, and Ted (Nancy) Roseman, Clinton; and three sisters, Betty Kyle and Mary Burton, both of Clinton; and Sally (Jim) Wellman, Hernando, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Clinton choir and supporter of Little Galilee Christian Assembly. She loved singing, camping, cooking, gardening and playing cards with her grandchildren and friends.

Jeffrey Lee Crang, 57, of Clinton died 3:43 p.m. Oct. 25, 2012, in Manor Court.

Jeffrey was born Sept. 16, 1955, in Decatur, the son of Francis B. and Mary E. Barnett Crang. He worked at Revere Copper & Brass Inc. for 27 years. He was a member of the Eagle Lodge. He enjoyed getting together with friends and doing crossword puzzles in the newspapers.

Surviving are his son, Travis Jeffrey (Laarni P.) Crang of Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii; parents, of Clinton; grandson, Caeden Travis Crang of Hickam Air Force Base; brothers and sisters, Mike (Nan) Crang and Nancy (Chris) Riddle, all of Clinton; Steve (Melissa) Crang of Webster Groves, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Julie A. Koons.

Norman D. Hammerschmidt of Monticello

Norman D. Hammerschmidt, 91, of Monticello, passed away at 10:50 a.m., October 24, 2012 at Carle Hospital, Urbana.

Norman was born on December 21, 1920 in Monticello the son of William and Elizabeth (Carrow) Hammerschmidt. He married Mary Ellen Cox on February 17, 1940 in Crawfordsville, IN. She passed away on May 5, 1992. He then married Joan Hilgendorf Remmers on October 24, 1992 in Monticello.

Norman is survived by his wife; Joan Hammerschmidt of Monticello, sons; Dennis (Carla) Hammerschmidt of Decatur and Larry (Claire) Hammerschmidt of Sunrise Beach, MO., 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, 1 daughter (Norma Kay) and 3 sisters.

Norman was a carpenter and owner of Hammerschmidt Construction. He was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge #58 AF&AM for over 50 years. Norman was an avid Illini and Bears fan and along with enjoying woodworking, he truly enjoyed fishing.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Steve Ingram officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.

James E. Six, 49, of Maroa, IL passed away on Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2012) in his residence. Michael A. O'Malley of Lincoln

Michael A. O’Malley, 71, of Knoxville, formerly of Lincoln, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Oct. 23, 2012, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.

Cremation has been accorded, and a memorial Mass will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Galesburg. The Rev. William T. Miller, IC, will officiate. Burial of ashes will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery following the Mass.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

He was born Jan. 14, 1941, in Galesburg, to Austin J. and Zelma A. Mitchell O’Malley.

Michael is survived by his brother, Phil O’Malley, Rialto, Calif.; and two sisters, Marie Brewer, Longmont, Colo.; and Nancy Larson, Galesburg.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Austin Jr., John, Bill, Jimmy and David; and three sisters, Margaret, Catherine and Helen.

Michael was of the Catholic faith.
