Shirley Ann Folz 82 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:45 A.M. January 30, 2026 at Goldwater Care, Clinton, Il.
Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with Pastor Jonathan Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, Il. Visitation will be 10-11 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Special Olympics.
Shirley was born March 25, 1943 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William and Karoline (Postmann) Hampe. She married John Folz. He passed away in 2002. Shirley was the loving mother of Tracy Ann Flannery.
Survivors include her daughter, Tracy Ann Flannery, Clinton, IL; brother, William (Frieda Kay) Hampe, Aurora, IL; sister-in-law, Phyllis Hampe, Merrillville, IN; her two nieces, several nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Hampe.
Shirley attended Chicago Vocational High School followed by Westcott Vocational School of Beauty Culture in Chicago. She worked at various beauty parlors until she opened her own salon in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago, IL. She later worked as a cashier for over 23 years at Walgreens locations in Chicago, Florida, and Bloomington, IL.
Shirley was an avid reader of the Pantagraph and wrote many opinion pieces which were published in the paper, and were in articles about her endeavors.
While going through cancer, she devised a pad to help alleviate the pain of clothing touching the surgical area and had sewn these pads and donated them to OSF Hospital in Bloomington. She worked with several local sewing groups who volunteered to make more pads available when the supply was running out. Her efforts will be remembered and appreciated.
Shirley was very much loved by her family and all of the O’Brien family. A special thank you to all the kind and caring staff at OSF Hospital in Bloomington, Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Warner Hospital and Health Services in Clinton, and Goldwater Care facilities in Bloomington and Clinton, Illinois.
