James Earl "Jim" Summers

James Earl “Jim” Summers, 85, of Clinton, IL passed away 7:15 A.M. May 28, 2023 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, Clinton, IL, the Vespasian Warner Library Board, or the Clinton American Legion.

 

James was born December 17, 1937 in Clinton, Illinois the son of David Dudley and Alice Louise (Karr) Summers. He married Kay Frances Stivers July 9, 1971 in Clinton, Il. She passed away November 26, 2019.

 

Survivors include his brothers, Kenneth (Kay) Summers, Desert Hot Springs, CA and David Summers, Farmer City, IL.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert Summers; and sisters, Rosalie Summers and Linda Kaye Summers.

 

Jim served his country in the Airforce. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL and the American Legion. Jim retired from Revere Copper and Brass, Inc. in 1988 after 36 years of service.

 

His cousin Jeanie was honored to be his friend and caregiver.

Marilyn L. Kirby

Atlanta – Marilyn L. Kirby, 71, of Atlanta, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at her home.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Waynesville. Candi Evans will officiate. Cremation Rites were accorded.

Marilyn L. Long was born March 21, 1951, in Bloomington, the daughter of Robert “Buck” and Ollie Almeda Rich Long.

She is survived by one sister, Diane (Gary) Peifer; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bill Long, and three sisters: Laura Benedict, Barbara Otto, and Shirley Terrell.

A 1969 graduate of McLean-Waynesville-Armington High School, Marilyn was retired from UPS where she had worked as a delivery driver. She was a member of Eastview Christian Church and the Atlanta Flower Buds. Marilyn was a Master Gardener and an avid fan of Elvis and the Chicago Cubs.

Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Logan County, Atlanta Rescue Squad or St. Jude’s Research Hospitals for Children.

Samuel R. Smith

McLean -- Samuel R. Smith, 87, of McLean, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Services for Sammy will be held on Saturday, June 3, 3023, at the McLean Christian Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services officiated by Mr. Tony Billingsley will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in the McLean Cemetery.

Samuel Robert Smith was born on December 16, 1935, in McLean, the son of Vester Robert and Edith Snow Smith. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Cates on October 10, 1954. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2004.

He is survived by his loving companion of many years: Mary Lou Wilkins, two children: Susie Smith and Bobby (Kelly) Smith; two granddaughters: Sydney (Patrick) Collins and Caroline (Quinn) Collins; and four great-grandchildren: J.W., Reese, Mica, and Tres.  

He was preceded in death by one son: Samuel Allen Smith, two sisters: Mary and Esther Smith, and one brother: Paul Smith. 

Sammy graduated from McLean Community High School in 1953. He farmed his entire life in the McLean area. Sam was the road commissioner for Mt. Hope Township for sixteen years. He was a member of the McLean Christian Church where he served as a Deacon for over forty years. Sam was an avid antique collector and enjoyed building toys.

Sammy was a friend to many and loved to go on car rides with Mary Lou. He religiously attended and fan-supported extended family grandchildren's softball games. Sammy loved parties, adored his Texas granddaughters and great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching them show their horses and race motorbikes. He told stories like no other and always made you laugh! He was kind, funny, talented, and very smart.

Memorials may be made to the McLean Christian Church or the Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Department and Ambulance Service.

Mary Alice McIntosh

Mary Alice McIntosh, from Clinton, IL, who has lived the past few years in Johns Creek, GA, passed away 8:11 A.M. May 28, 2023. She was 97 years of age.

 

Born in Clinton in 1925, she was the oldest child of Clint and Loretta (Thorp) Luker. She married Ben McIntosh in 1949, and together, they had three children. Ben passed away on March 16, 1989.

 

As a young adult, Mary Alice worked as a legal secretary for Bill Smith, Sr. Later she worked for the Illinois Central Railroad out of Clinton, Champaign, and Decatur, IL.

 

She was a collector of Hummel figurines and antiques. And she loved to travel! Though she devoted her life to her family, including her special needs son, Ben Lynn, she was always ready to pack her red, under-the-airline-seat bag and travel to Hawaii, China, France, or Germany with her daughter. That travel included a red-eye to red-eye flight trip to spend an incredible day in San Francisco. She loved bringing back treasures - with no consideration as to if they would fit in her luggage or not!

 

Mary Alice was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ben; and her middle son, Ben Lynn.

 

She is survived by her other two children: her daughter Candy (Bruce) Kasch of Johns Creek, GA and her son Barry (Angela) McIntosh of South Carolina and Tybee Island, GA.

 

A graveside service only, per Mary Alice’s request, will be held 10 AM, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL; with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley D. Kirk

Shirley D. Kirk, 76, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 10:33 P.M. Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, Illinois.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Victory Christian Center in Farmer City, Illinois.

Shirley was born on June 24, 1946, in Danville, Kentucky, a daughter of David and Laura Daugherty Russell. She married Kenneth Kirk on February 22, 1969. He passed away January 7, 2010.

She is survived by her children, Laurie (David) Cwiklowski of Fisher, Illinois, George (Tracy) Kirk of Ballwin, Missouri, Khristie Murphy of Farmer City, Illinois, and Kandice (Gary) Wellman of Bloomington, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Tara) Reddington; Chelsea Ferguson; Dean Kirk; Jessica (William) Harris; Damien Murphy; Kenny Murphy; and Kayelynn (Quentin) McBee; seven great-granddaughters; and brother, Steven (Venus) Russell of Champaign, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; granddaughter, Jordyne Wellman; parents; two brothers, Michael and Floyd Russell; and son-in-law, Loren Murphy.

Shirley was a retired security guard at the Clinton Power Plant.

The family would like to thank Carle Hospice and McLean County Nursing Home for their care.

Michael Dean "Mike" Coleman

Michael Dean “Mike” Coleman, 75, of Weldon, Illinois, formerly of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 8:02 A.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at home.

His graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois, with Pastor Mike Jenkins officiating. Military rites will be accorded.  Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 2, 2023, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in Le Roy, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michelle Castor to be used for Michael’s grandchildren’s education.

Mike was born on March 23, 1948, in Bloomington, Illinois, a son of Wendell and Ruth Baird Coleman. He married Nancy D. Duggins in November of 1971, in Farmer City, Illinois. She passed away October 16, 2018.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Kiel) Castor of Mansfield, Illinois; three grandchildren, Brenden Farris, Teagen Castor and Julien Castor; and two sisters, Carol Pillow of Le Roy, Illinois, and LeAnn Bazzell of Fisher, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy D. Coleman, parents, Wendell and Ruth Coleman and two brothers-in-law, Bill Pillow and Neal Bazzell.

Mike was a retired bridge foreman for the CNN Railroad.

He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and member of the De Land American Legion Post 102.

Margaret "Margie" A. Dey

Margaret “Margie” A. Dey 75 of Peoria, IL passed away 9:18 A.M. May 24, 2023 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Visitation for Margie’s friends and family will be held from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 PM Saturday June 24, 2023 at Monticello Christian Church, Monticello, IL. A Celebration of Margie’s life will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Jerry Dusenberry officiating. Private family burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL at a later date. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

Margaret was born August 27, 1947. She married Frederick E. Dey, Sr. April 8, 1990 at First Baptist church in East Peoria. He passed away January 17, 2018.

 

Survivors include her siblings Wilbur (Stacy) Jones, Clinton, IL, Bonnie (Terry) Bayes- Lubbers, Weldon, IL, and Randy (Cheryl) Jones, Farmer City, IL; 13 nieces and nephews and 20 plus great-nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother Irene Sites and one sister.

 

Margie loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed talking to and meeting new people throughout her life. She had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her.

Bruce D. Bryan

Heyworth – Bruce D. Bryan, 59, of Heyworth, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. No services are scheduled.

Bruce Daniel Bryan was born August 5, 1963, the son of Daniel E. and Letha Ann McConnell Bryan. He was united in marriage to Vickie Barth on May 5, 1984. She survives.

He is also survived by one brother, Jeffrey Bryan; and several nieces and nephews including special nephew, Jesse Barth.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Craig Bryan.

He owned and operated Bryan Well Service for 40 years. He enjoyed all of his well customers that he worked for. Bruce also played competitive pool in the APA and ACS. He loved semi-trucks or trucks in general, farming, visiting with friends, and his dogs.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Nancy H. Arthur

Clinton – Nancy H. Arthur, 77, of Clinton, formerly of Middletown, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Manor Court of Clinton.

Graveside Services for Nancy will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Mr. Maurice Stribling officiating. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Nancy Helen Mitchell was born January 2, 1946, in Clinton, the daughter of Welby and Nancy Alice Vinson Mitchell.

She is survived by four children: Rosetta (Andy) Smith, Ruby (William) Scott, Bobby (Ava) Arthur, and Mervin Arthur, Jr.; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Enola) Mitchell; and two sisters: Angela Mitchell and Catherine Mitchell.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Nancy had worked as a CNA at DeWitt County Nursing Home and Crestview Nursing Home. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles.

Harold E. Dellinger

Clinton – Harold E. Dellinger, 80, of Clinton, passed away at Carle Hospital – Urbana on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

A Celebration of Harold’s Life will be held at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Military Rites will be accorded at 12:00 p.m.

Harold Eldon Dellinger was born May 9, 1943, in Fairbury, the son of Virgil and Hazel Dodson Dellinger. He was united in marriage to Janice Michaels on December 20, 1969. She survives.

Harold is also survived by three children: Kerri (Bob) Berndt, Neil (Jennifer) Dellinger, and Thressa (Evan) Johnson; four grandchildren: Laine Berndt, Tyler Berndt, Logan Dellinger and Grayson Dellinger; and two brothers: Myron Dellinger and Richard (Liz) Dellinger.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ken Dellinger.

Harold was a 1961 graduate of Fairbury Cropsey High School. He served in the United States Army. Harold retired from Country Companies in 2002 where he had worked in IT. He enjoyed visiting National Parks in the West and riding steam locomotives. He especially loved visiting Manitou Springs, Colorado.

Kim Albert Glidden

Kim Albert Glidden, 58 of passed away 5:05 PM May 21, 2023 at Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care, Bloomington, IL.

Celebration Of Life will be 2 PM Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 14170 Ponderosa Court, Clinton, IL. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Kim was born August 11, 1964 in Sacramento, CA the son of Albert G. and Shelia L. (Talbott) Glidden.

Survivors include his sons, Troy (Jessica) Glidden, TN, and Christopher (Rachel) Benjamin, WA, siblings, Cathy Robinson, Clinton; Rene’ (Rick) Ricks, Clinton; Michael Glidden, Clinton; Kevin (Alberta) Glidden, Clinton; Mark Glidden Clinton; and Toni Glidden, Clinton, 5 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Glidden.

Kim had worked for Farmer City Bayer and was a former over the road truck driver. He enjoyed woodworking and building things with his hands, along with traveling.

Mary Evelyn Hale

Mary Evelyn Hale, 99, of Clinton, IL passed away May 21, 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Restmor Nursing Home in Morton, IL.

 

Mary was born July 27, 1923 in Bloomington to Edward and Katherine (Slavin) Murray.  She married William C. Hale June 16, 1945 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington. “Ben” passed away April 2, 2023.

 

Mary is survived by son, Stephen “Steve”, Maroa, IL: daughter, Susan (Benito) Camacho, Morton, IL; grandchildren, Stephanie Hale, Clinton; Greg (Laura) Hale, Wapella, IL; Benjamin (Angie) Camacho and Timothy Camacho, Morton; Becca Camacho (Nate Haines) and Katie (Kyle) Cannon of Minneapolis, MN.  Mary was SuperGrandma to Mason and Morgan Mandrell, Stone Stith, Ian and Melissa Hale, Zachary and Alex Camacho, William “Billy” and Ryan Haines, and Paige Evelyn Cannon.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Hale; brothers, Maurice, Edward, and William, and sisters, Eleanor and Edna.

 

Mary graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School class of 1941.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Bloomington Tobacco Company post graduation until she married Ben.  Mary was Ben’s greatest love and asset in their farming operation, learning to cook meals from dawn to dark, keeping all the books, running for machine parts, and any other tasks necessary to partner in the livelihood of farming. In later years, Mary worked as bookkeeper at The Dixie Truck Stop in McLean, IL, which she enjoyed immensely.  She loved people and turned strangers into acquaintances and friends with ease.

 

The staff at Apostolic Christian Restmor deserves special thanks for the tender care given to Mary and Ben. They and our family appreciated those who went above and beyond to make their stay comfortable and enriched.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Wapella, IL with Father Geoff Horton Celebrant.  Visitation will be at the church from 9:30-11:00, Mass will begin at 11:00.  Burial will follow at Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia A. Johnson

Atlanta -- Patricia A. Johnson, 76, of Atlanta, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services for Pat will be on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Eminence Christian Church with Mr. Henry Johnson and Dr. LC Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Christian Church.

Patricia A. Booher was born on August 10, 1946, in Litchfield, the daughter of Charles W. and Rachel Fraley Booher, Sr. She was united in marriage to Robert Johnson on May 7, 1966. He survives.

Also surviving are her children: Robbie Johnson, Tammy (Chad) Huskins, and Tad Johnson; one sister: Linda Evans; one brother: Charles W. "Buddy" Booher, Jr.; five grandchildren: Jacob (Megan) Huskins, Lindsey Huskins, Paige Johnson, Kasey Huskins, and Anna Johnson; and one great-grandson: Owen Huskins.

Pat graduated from Atlanta Community High School in 1964. She retired from Atlanta Grade School/Olympia South Elementary School after 20 years of service as a teacher's aide.

She was a member of the Eminence Christian Church and the Eminence Christian Church Ladies Aide. Pat knew no stranger and was cherished by everyone who knew her. Her children and grandchildren were her treasures.

Frank Elmer Glenn

Frank Elmer Glenn, 81, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at home.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois, with Pastor Dave Ashby officiating. Burial will follow at Goose Creek Township Cemetery, De Land, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Frank was born on June 19, 1941, in Clinton, Illinois, a son of Lester L. and Mae Vernice Bland Glenn. He married Marilyn E. Kidd on December 24, 1964, in De Land, Illinois. She passed away April 9, 2018.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas (Laraine) Glenn of Newman, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Glenn and his parents.

Frank was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the Illinois and Indiana Antique Gas Engine Tractor Club. Frank was a past President of the DeWitt County Tax Payers Association.

Richard Eugene Spencer

Richard Eugene Spencer, son of George Spencer and Jean Shaffer Henry, died peacefully with his wife Bonnie at his side on May 13, 2023, at the age 76. He was greatly loved and will be forever missed. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alva Bonnie Spencer, his daughter Monica Lea Thomas and his two grandsons, Ryan Connor Thomas and Spencer Charles Thomas. His son, Richard Eugene Jr. predeceased his father in death February 16, 2016.

 

Richard was born April 14, 1947 in Clinton, IL but spent a large part of his life living in Tucson, Arizona. Richard met his wife, Bonnie, in Tucson, where he was a general contractor and owner of a property management company.

 

Also surviving are four siblings, Kaye (Bob) Wahoff, Christina Knoles, Karen (Bob) Pogue all of whom reside in North Carolina, James Michael Spencer of Potosi, MO. Richard is also survived by his Aunt Tootie (Spencer) Vogeler of Rochelle, Uncles Gary (Pim), Dave, and Ron Shaffer of Illinois, and many special cousins.

 

Special thanks to his best friend Rob Sengpiel.

 

Richard was avid Harley rider, camper and animal lover.

Anne Shifflet

Chico, CA -- Anne Shifflet, wife of Atlanta native Tom Shifflet, died October 28, 2022, in Chico, California. A celebration of her life was held November 4, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Chico. She was 77.

Anne was born in Mineral Wells, Texas, the daughter of Major C.L. (“Buster”) and Evelyn Thomas. She grew up on Army bases in Japan and Italy and graduated from Baker High School and St. Francis College of Nursing in Columbus, Georgia.

Anne was a Registered Nurse. She served on the staff of three hospitals and in doctors’ offices in Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, and Ohio. She married Tom Shifflet on August 28, 1966, at Central Christian Church in Columbus, Georgia.

Anne had been a Cub Scout den mother, a teacher of pre-natal classes for expectant parents, a Stephen Minister, and a member of the General Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Anne was a strong, supportive wife to Tom for 56 years, a loving mother of a son Mark and a daughter Michelle, and a joyous grandmother of Ben and Jacob.

She was a “cousin-in-law” of Jon and Connie Harris, rural Waynesville residents.

A brief graveside committal will be held at Atlanta Cemetery on Wednesday, May 17, at 11:00 a.m. A lunch will follow at the Atlanta Christian Church.

Richard "Dick" E. Logan

O’Fallon, MO – Richard “Dick” E. Logan, 78, of O’Fallon, MO, formerly of Lincoln, IL, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family and love, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, due to complications from COVID. He was resilient and had a strong will to live. After surviving devastating illnesses over the past 13 years, and losing his ability to move and communicate, he is now walking hand in hand with loved ones waiting for his arrival and has regained the use of his voice in Heaven to sing praises for a life well lived.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln. Rev. Joseph Dondanville will officiate.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln at a later date.

Richard Eugene Logan was born November 6, 1945, in Lincoln, IL, the son of Leo and Loretta O’Neill Logan. 

He is survived by four of his children, whom he loved deeply, including one son, Darren Logan (Boulder, UT); and three daughters, Diana (Derek) Schemansky (O’Fallon, MO), Sara Logan (Denver, CO), and Elizabeth Logan (Los Angeles, CA). He also loved his four grandchildren; Mariah, Olivia, Megan, and Nicholas Schemansky; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Schemansky. He is also survived by two sisters, Jane Perry and Ruth (Ed) Hurley; one brother, Leo (Roberta) Logan; one stepsister, Dorothy Starling; his former wife Marsha Logan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dick was preceded in death by his beloved son Daniel, sister Loretta Yeates, stepbrother Robert “Bob” Smith, his parents, and stepmother Josephine “Jody” Smith Logan.

Dick graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1963. He joined the United States Navy, serving as a petty officer aboard the USS Litchfield County, a landing ship instrumental in transporting supplies to ground forces in Vietnam. He also served as the ship’s disbursing clerk, was appointed as the Catholic Lay Leader of his command and received a Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon.

Upon returning to Lincoln, Dick found great joy in providing service to his community and took pride in helping the city and county flourish. He owned and operated Dick Logan’s Auto Care, for nearly 40 years, and served on the Logan County Board from 1994 - 2008, including as Chairman from 2006–2008. 

Dick was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, serving as cantor and singing in the choir for many years. He was also a 4th Degree Knight with the Lincoln Knights of Columbus, Council #1250, and a member of the American Legion and VFW.

In addition to the passions he held for his family, business, leading local politics, and singing, Dick loved bowling. He was a member of the Logan Lanes bowling league and sponsored numerous teams over several decades. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching the games with his son-in-law and primary caregiver, Derek Schemansky, during the time he lived with his daughter Diana’s family. 

Dick missed Lincoln greatly and felt a fondness for and loyalty to everyone he knew. While he will be dearly missed, he is now at peace with our Lord and rejoined with all his loved ones who have gone before him.

Robert "Bob" Maxwell

Robert ?Bob” Maxwell, 71, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, Illinois.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 12 noon – 6 p.m. with a rain date of June 11th at Jason Maxwell’s house, 9469 Liberty Road, Farmer City, Illinois.  Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home of Farmer City, Illinois, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bob was born on June 19, 1951, in Charleston, Illinois, a son of Wayne E. and Betty J. (Johnson) Maxwell.  He married Sandie L. Mahin on July 8, 1972, in Mahomet, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, Sandie L. Maxwell of Farmer City, Illinois; three children, Darcy (Billy) Douthitt of Le Roy, Illinois, Jason (Megan) Maxwell of Farmer City, Illinois, and Bobbi (Eric) Rowe of Farmer City, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Megan Douthitt; Kendra Douthitt; Sawyer Maxwell; Cam Maxwell; Reid Maxwell; Kinnley Rowe; and Jackson Rowe; nine siblings, Gary (Sheila) Maxwell; Nancy (Rick) Mansfield; Rebecca Seawell; Marlene Hedrick; Christine Welch; Chuck (Colleen) Maxwell; Morris (Cheryl) Maxwell; Sara Short; and Margaret (John) Cooke; and eighteen nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne E. and Betty J. Maxwell.

Bob worked as a professional in the autobody repair industry.  He enjoyed music and classic cars, but most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bob loved his family dearly.  He was a loving husband; father; grandfather; brother; uncle; and friend who will be greatly missed by all who shared in his life.

Goldie was born January 25, 1934 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Joseph and Ruby (Cahill) Bell.  She married Andy Hedrick May 31, 1952 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Andy Hedrick, Wapella, IL; sons, Steve Hedrick, Wapella, IL and David (Jan) Hedrick, Clinton, IL; five grandchildren: Mike (Tanya) Hedrick, Kris (Cassie) Hedrick, Brooklyn (Jason) Bauer, Brandy (Tony) Roberts, and Joshua (Annie) Hedrick,; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Rex (Mary Ann) Bell, Clinton, IL; and sister-in-law, Mary Bell, Lerna, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Bell; and one sister, Connie Bell.

Goldie was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL and was active in the church including preparing and serving funeral dinners. She also volunteered at the Lincoln Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln, IL. Goldie enjoyed being a 4-H leader, square dancing, and bowling. Most of all, Goldie loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Wendy graduated from Clinton High School in 1987.  She was very proud of her alma mater and attended as many high school sporting events as she could.  Wendy was an active member of the community.  She was involved with the Clinton Farmer’s Market and attended many community events including May Days, Apple ‘n Pork, and every parade.

 

Wendy loved her friends and family dearly and loved being a wife, mother, and grandma.

Juanita (Palmer) Eeten

Juanita (Palmer) Eeten peacefully passed away at home in Clinton, IL on May 2, 2023 at the age of 84. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, James Eeten. loving children Kathy Parkinson, Kelly Wilson (Troy), and Doug Eeten (Maria), five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Juanita was born in San Jose, IL on September 22, 1938.

Edwin Allen Trimble

Edwin Allen Trimble, 73, of DeLand, passed away on April 30, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana, surrounded by his family.

Services will be held at the Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in Farmer City on Monday, May 8 with visitation from 1-3 pm, followed by the service. Interment will be at Goose Creek Township Cemetery, DeLand, with military rites. 

He was born on November 19, 1949, in Bloomington, Illinois, the son of the late Willie and Betty Trimble. He was the middle of his two siblings. 

Ed graduated from DeLand-Weldon High School in 1967. He then served in the U.S. Army National Guard Reserves during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he married Judy Turner, who survives, on February 2, 1969. He then worked for Standard Oil in DeLand, followed by Weldon Fertilizer. Ed also enjoyed a long career trucking.  After his father’s passing in 1975, he continued the farming operation, planting his last crop this spring with his son, Derek. Being able to farm with his son was one of his greatest joys. 

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Paige of DeLand and their children, Lauren (Sam) Duggins, Elizabeth, Abigail, and special family member, Roberta Spanu of Milan, Italy. His daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Steve Hancock of LeRoy and their children, Mitchell, Brett, and Morgan. Ed was very proud of his first great-grandson, Turner Duggins. 

Also surviving are his sister, Cindy Weaver, of Peoria and a niece and nephew.

Ed was preceded in his death by his parents, brother Jeffery, and brother-in-law, Mike Weaver. 

He enjoyed camping, watching NASCAR, grilling, and spending time with his family and friends.

Randy E. Good, 65 of Clinton, IL passed away 7:59 AM May 1, 2023 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

Rita M. Faith

Latham -- Rita M. Faith, 84, of Latham, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the H & J Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.

A Mass of Christian Burial Service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquina Catholic Church in Mt. Pulaski with Rev. Joseph Dondanville officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the church.

Burial will be in Lake Bank Cemetery in rural Mt. Pulaski. 

Rita Marie Benner was born on January 15, 1939, in Decatur, the daughter of Lyle and Theresa Seman Benner. She was united in marriage to Carl D. Faith on May 31, 1958. He survives.

Also surviving are their sons: David (Sarah) Faith, Scott (Kelly) Faith, and Eric Faith; one grandson: Calvin Faith; two granddaughters: Brittney (Cole) Sharp and Chelsea (Jeremy) Sheetinger; and great-grandchildren: Henry, Brooks, Cooper and Charlee; one brother: Tony Benner; and two sisters: Ann Melhorn and Kay Tapia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers. 

She was a member St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She was a home maker and was dedicated to her husband and family. She loved her small community, and therefore dedicated a lot of time assisting her husband in helping with activities for the Latham Fire Department and other community activities. 

Upon her husband’s retirement she loved their camping trips, attending old churches, old community activities and the learning history along the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. Rita loved and was very proud of her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sports and school events. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Latham Rescue Squad.

Douglas E. Reynolds

Douglas E. Reynolds, 61, of Clinton, IL passed away at 4:38 PM, April 29, 2023 at Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Doug worked for Action Technology for 14 years. He loved to watch Westerns, St. Louis Cardinals and the Illini.
