Richard Allen Stanley, 67, of Latham, Illinois passed away at 3:05 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Illinois. 

Funeral services will be held at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur Illinois, at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 2, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, Illinois.

Richard was born in Monticello, IL, on January 29, 1952 to Lloyd Gene and Dorothy May (Stone) Stanley. He married Wilma Mae Marshall on November 10, 1973; she preceded him in death on May 4, 2012. He worked at ADM for over 35 years and was a member of the American Federation of Grain Millers Union, Local 103. 

He is survived by daughters, Leslie Stanley of Latham, IL and Angela Stanley of Decatur, IL; brothers, Lloyd Gene Stanley Jr. and Gary (Brenda) Stanley, both of Springfield, IL; sisters, Donna (Mark) Wade of Sherman, IL and Tina (Michael) Evans of Hidalgo, IL; grandchildren Jacob and Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son Richard Allen Stanley, Jr.

Sharon Kay Purviance, 76, of Lincoln passed away on Sunday,, January 27, 2019, at Copper Creek Cottages in Lincoln, IL. 

Sharon was born on June 22, 1942, in Mt. Pulaski, IL the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Harnish) Stengel. She married Robert "Bob” Purviance on September 4, 1960, in Lincoln, IL. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2016.

Sharon is survived by her children; Greg Purviance of Terre Haute, IN, Kim (Kenneth) Nevius of Bull Shoals, AR, Chris Purviance of Lincoln, and Nicole Hoagland also of Lincoln; her half-brother, Tony Campbell of Grapevine, TX; and six grandchildren.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Sharon was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was a secretary for The Department of Corrections for many years. Sharon enjoyed decorating and crafting; she was a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She loved her pets and watching animals in nature. Above all else, Sharon loved her family.

Services for Sharon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service (9:00-11:00 a.m.) also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Old Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Sandra Russell, 76, formerly of Lincoln, passed away at 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Sandra was born on January 7, 1943, in Chicago, IL; daughter of Bob and Maxine (Johnson) Zbinden. She married John Russell on December 26, 1981, in Lincoln, IL. He survives her.

Also, surviving Sandra are her children: Dianne Whitman of Franklin, N.C. and Doug Meier of New Castle, IN; her sister: Myrna Bair of Pennsylvania; her brother: Ray Zbinden of Illinois; three grandchildren: Emma, Grace, and Corinne Meier. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sandra attended Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was a member of the Elks Emblem Club and assisted with Elks Crippled Children’s Trust, and was a member of the Red Hats.

Services for Sandra will be 12:00 Noon Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL with Rev. Mark Peters officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service (10:00-12:00). Shirley Mae Brannan, 83, of Clinton, IL passed away at 10:11 AM January 26, 2019 at her family residence.

Phyllis was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton, Il. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as the Worthy Matron and Treasurer. Earl M. Scaggs, 77, of LeRoy, Illinois passed away January 21, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Earl was born October 29, 1941 in Ironton, Missouri to Edith Talley Scaggs and Johnnie C. Scaggs.

A celebration of life is planned for spring.

He married Fern Wilkerson on November 4, 1960 in LeRoy, Illinois. He is survived by his wife and their three children, Angela Andrews of Shawnee, Kansas, Steven E. (Cynthia) Scaggs, McMinnville, Tennessee, and Amy (Dwayne) Oyer, Bloomington, Illinois. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers, Ed Scaggs and Guy (Debi) Scaggs and five sisters, Louise Williams, Velma (Gary) Morris, Donna (Joe) Berner, Vickie (Dan) Crews, and Brenda (Ron) Smith. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Kevin, brother John Scaggs, sisters Mary Nalley, Beulah Fox, Daisy Roberts, and Nadine Danner. 

Earl never met a stranger and you couldn't mistake his infectious laugh. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always a hard worker and his knowledge, experience, and expertise will be greatly missed.

Mary Sprague, 79, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019, at Copper Creek Cottages, Lincoln, IL.

Mary was born on April 12, 1939, in Olney, IL; the daughter of Virgil and Ester (Reinhart) King. She married Ronald Sprague Sr. on August 9, 1957, in Shawneetown, IL. He preceded her in death on, May 12, 2017.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Beth (Russell) Wright of Lincoln, IL; her son, Ronald Sprague Jr. of Lincoln, IL; her grandchildren, Kassie Henrichsmeyer of Clay City, IL, Colt (Haley) Wright of Sunset, TX, Chase Wright of Lincoln, IL; and eight great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her grandson, Joshua Sprague.

Mary was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies including the crafting of all sorts and painting. Mary loved driving down to Missouri with her husband in their little red Miata; where they would visit and tour different wineries.

Services for Mary will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019, at St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln. Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Burial will follow the services at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln. Robert Stephen “Bob” Chamberlain, 71 of Warrensburg died at 8:32 am. Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.

Bob was born December 21, 1947 in Effingham, Illinois son of John C. and Mary M. (Klepzig) Chamberlain. He attended schools in Shumway and Beecher City, Illinois and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural from SIU, Carbondale, Illinois. Bob worked for the Cooperative Extension Service before becoming a Seed Corn District Manager for many years. Bob was a member of the Corn Items Collectors Association, former Secretary-Treasurer and Co-editor of the Bang Board newsletter. Bob was Austin Township Supervisor for 30 years. He married Carolyn S. Devore on June 15, 1969 in Shumway.

Surviving is his wife of nearly fifty years, Carolyn S. Chamberlain of Warrensburg, sons, David R. (Deann Drake) Chamberlain of Decatur, Timothy J. (Lindsay) Chamberlain of Austin, Texas, brother, Richard J. Chamberlain of Effingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jay was born February 22, 1942 in Wapella, IL the son of Jesse and Aretta (Nelson) Thoms.

Jay was preceded in death by his Siblings, Joan Lewis, Ray Thoms and Ida Gentry.

Jay retired in 1997 from RR Donnelley (formerly Wallace Computer Services) where he was Corporate Transportation Manager.

Jay served on the boards of the Clinton YMCA, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, and the Clinton Country Club, taking a turn as president at both the YMCA and the Chamber. He also served on the city Police and Fire Commission and volunteered for the United Way. A lifelong fitness and recreation enthusiast, he enjoyed running, biking, basketball, golf, fishing, hunting, boating and camping. He coached, co-founded and participated in local sports programs and events for all ages.

The family would like to thank Sugar Creek for their care and kindness.

Jay enjoyed his retirement years traveling with Barb in their RV. Above all, Jay was a family man and a good provider. He touched the lives of many and will be missed.

Betty was born December 9, 1933 in Johnston City, IL the daughter of Thomas Edward and Juanita (Anderson) Bray. She married Earl Fenton. She later married Dale McLemore in 1981 in Alcoa, TN and he preceded her in death.

Betty was a life long homemaker and nanny to many children. She enjoyed cooking, get-togethers, stopping quickly for yard sales, and her knick-knacks. She attended the First Nazarene Church in Clinton. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, who she truly loved and held dear to her heart.

James “Jim” W. Cale, 70, of Lincoln passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Jim was born on July 19, 1948 in Macomb, IL the son of Clarence W. and Pauline (Ford) Cale. He married Colleen Kuhlmeier on September 14, 1973, she preceded him in death on September 18, 2003. He later married Suzanne R. Adams on August 2, 2008. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2016.

Jim is survived by his children; Chad (Lisa) Cale, Jeremy (Cindy) Cale, Brian (Kelly) Cale, Amy (Scott) Kuhlman; and his brother, Perry Cale. Additionally, he is survived by six grandchildren, Sean Cale, Gage Cale, Logan Cale, Josh Cale, Gabby Kuhlman, and Ethan Kuhlman.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his spouses; two sisters; and his grandson, Nick Cale.

Jim was the Meat Manager at Eagle’s Grocery Store in Lincoln for many years; he also worked at Eaton Corp in Lincoln.

Thomas R. Geason, 60, of Lincoln suddenly passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln. 

Tom was born on September 22, 1958 in Peoria, IL the son of Richard C. and Loretta (Laney) Geason. He married Terri Wheeler on May 18, 2017 in Lincoln, IL she survives.

Tom is also survived by his step-children; Trish (Justin) Armburst and Charles Samuel Cox; his siblings, Kathleen (Mike) Spanier, Daniel (Deb) Geason, and Peggy (Kip) Switzer; his brothers-in-law, Donnie E. Wheeler and Randy S. Wheeler. Additionally, Tom is survived by his granddaughter, Mackenzie Cobb.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother-in-law, John M. Humbert.

Tom was a “homebody” he loved spending time at home with his family, cooking, and enjoying a cold beverage. Tom’s passion was found in helping people; even in death Tom found a way to help others by donating tissue to Gift of Hope which will give the gift of life to 26 people in need.

William L. "Bill” Follis, 92, of Mt. Pulaski passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski, IL.

Bill was born on July 7, 1926, in Mt. Pulaski, IL the son of William A. and Mabel J (Johnston) Follis. He married Delores Anna Seidel on September 11, 1946, in Decatur, IL. She survives in Mt. Pulaski.

Bill is also survived by his four daughters, Carolyn Sue Follis of Kenney, IL, Shirley (Jack) Knutson of Mesa, CO, Mary (Gary) Sherrer of Denver, CO, and Julie (Danny) Lobb of Kenney, IL; his four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Allen; three sisters; and one brother.

Services for Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mt. Pulaski, IL. Shelton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Paula Marie Witt; granddaughter, Michelle Sears; and sister, Patty Wickenhauser.

Vernadine worked for Eureka Williams in Bloomington, IL as an inspector supervisor for 33 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL and member of the Ladies Eagles Lodge Auxiliary. She was a proud supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Veteran’s Association. She enjoyed traveling, animals, gardening with her son-in-law, Jim Inman, and most of all spending time with her family.

M. Jeremy Reynolds, 57, of Farmer City passed away at 2:15 A.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at his residence.

Jeremy was born December 6, 1961, in Bloomington, Illinois, a son of Jimmy L. and Mary Jean Smith Reynolds. He married Marie Winstead on April 27, 1991, in rural Farmer City. 

Jeremy is survived by his wife, Marie of Farmer City; parents, Jimmy and Mary Jean Reynolds of Farmer City; two stepsons, Jesse Winstead of Farmer City and Moe Winstead Jr. of Farmer City; goddaughter, Anna Marie Smith of Farmer City; five step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; siblings, Jona (Lonnie) Franklin of Farmer City, Jon (Judy) Reynolds of Farmer City and Janene (Brian) Woodard of Kingsport, TN; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. 

Jeremy worked twenty-nine years for Evergreen FS, as a petroleum specialist. He was a thirty-nine-year active volunteer for the Farmer City Fire Department. He loved working at the Farmer City Race Track for several years. He enjoyed camping and playing with his many, many friends.

Marguerite Gibson-Thompson, 92, of Monticello, IL passed away 7:53 PM, January 7, 2019 at the Piatt Co. Nursing Home, Monticello, IL.

Marguerite was born September 16, 1926 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Wilbur and Emily J. (Thain) Helmick. She married John R. Gibson April 1, 1945 in Clinton, IL. He passed away August 22, 1985. She later married Halsey Lee Thompson October 26, 1997 in DeLand, IL. He passed away February 4, 2015.

Survivors include her children, Richard Gibson, Wellington, IL, Barbara (Frank) Schwarz, Clinton, IL, David Gibson, Bloomington, IL; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, 1 Son, William Gibson and Sister, Wilma Harris-Wasson.

Marguerite was a member of the DeLand Christian Church and a member of the Home Bureau, Monticello, IL. She volunteered at the Kirby Hospital gift shop and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

At the age of 83, Myrna Johnson, of Lake Worth Florida, passed away quietly with her children by her side at Wellington Regional Medical Center, Wellington Florida, where she lived with her daughter Thresa Newkirk since 2015.  Prior to Florida, she lived in Danville, Georgetown and Warrensburg, Illinois.  She was raised outside Clinton, Illinois.

Born to Ina and Lester Cunningham, she was the youngest of four children, all who pre-deceased her, Leota, Carl, and Jean.  Myrna graduated from Kenney High School in 1953, and was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Johnson. 

She is survived by three children, Paul Johnson of Sedona, AZ, Thresa Newkirk of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Rhonda Powell of Danville, Illinois.  Myrna had four grandchildren, Emily Carter, Tristan Johnson, Matthew Turner, and Alexis Newkirk.  She also has four great-grandchildren, Noah, Evan, and Abigail Carter, and Eli Johnson.

Myrna will be missed by her loving family, a legacy she cherished.

Jeff A. Landis, 59, of Decatur, IL passed away 7:19 A.M. January 7, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Steve was born June 24, 1944 in Clinton, IL the son of George and Freda (Perkins) Davenport. He married Carol Emery June 26, 1966 in Herrin, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Latham.

Steve was a retired high school teacher and farmer, who was very involved in the community. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton Country Club, past Clinton School Board member, and past member of the Drainage District. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, and play cards.

Joseph M. Ambrose, 61, of Mahomet, Illinois, formerly of Le Roy, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Illinois.

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois, with Deacon Gary Koerner officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Le Roy, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the funeral home.

Joe was born July 28, 1957, in Peoria, Illinois, to Joseph J. and Charlotte M. Mittendorf Ambrose. He married Julianne Epperson on June 21, 1980, in Le Roy, Illinois. 

He is survived by his loving wife in Mahomet and four children. Three sons, Joseph Jacob (Danielle) Ambrose of Champaign, Illinois, Benjamin Matthew Ambrose of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bradley Conard (Sarah) Ambrose of Boulder, Colorado; one daughter, Megan Leta (David) Jones of Washington, D.C.; eight grandchildren; one brother, James (Kathryn) Ambrose of Springfield, Illinois; and three sisters, Julie Ambrose of St. Charles, Illinois, Mary Ambrose of New York, New York, and Margaret Ambrose of Peoria, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gregory R. Ambrose.

Joe moved to Le Roy with his family in 1967, where he met his future wife, Julie, both graduated from Le Roy High School in 1975. He received a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Illinois in 1979, a law degree from Indiana University in 1982, and a master’s in business administration from Northwestern University in 2001.

Joe first worked as a lawyer with Bane, Allison, & Saint in 1982, and later Saint & Ambrose, Hinshaw & Culbertson, and Costigan & Wollrab. He joined Horizon Hobby in 2006, and became C.E.O. in 2008.

Joe and Julie traveled frequently visiting 20 countries, Disney World, and their grandchildren. Joe loved motorcycles, readings, and spending time with friends and family.

He was a member of St. Mary Church in Downs, the Champaign Country Club, and the Board of Directors for First Busey Corporation.

John E. Scott, 96, of Bellflower and Fisher, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Gibson City Annex.

John was born September 19, 1922 near Ellsworth, the second son of C. Emil and Maude Stinde Scott. He married his beloved wife, Mary Ellyn Sloan, on February 14, 1948. She died in May 2015. 

Surviving are two daughters, Marcia (Ralph) Turpin, Farmer City and Peggy Scott, Normal, and a son, John W. (Penny) Scott, Fisher; three grandchildren, Crystal (Ian) Martin, Rantoul; Jonathan (Jordan) Scott, Fisher, IL; and Tyler Scott, Paxton; and three great-grandchildren, Corley and Cowan Martin and Joanna Scott. Also, surviving is one sister, Joyce Beals, Beloit, WI and three sisters-in-law, Millie Scott and Nancy Scott, both of Bloomington and Lois Hedrick, Gibson City. Preceding him in death were four brothers, Charles, Ivan, George and Larry Scott, and two sisters, Betty Scott Woliung and Clarice Scott Miller as well as his parents.

Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in Farmer City with Masonic rites accorded at 7:45 P.M. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 also at Calvert –Belangee Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Scott and Pastor Seth Schutte officiating. Burial will be at Willowbrook Cemetery in Fisher with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Fisher United Methodist Church, the Mahomet Masonic Lodge #220 Scholarship Fund or the Gibson City Annex Scholarship Fund for caregivers.

John and Mary Ellyn farmed near Bellflower from 1949 to 1986 before retiring in Fisher where he was active in the United Methodist Church, Lion’s Club and delivering Peace Meals. He was a 70+ year member of the Masons as well as a Past Master and lifetime member and past Commander of the Bellflower American Legion. John served in the Merchant Marines during World War II traveling through the Panama Canal, to South America and the west coast of the U.S., and crossing the Pacific to Enewetak in the Marshall Islands.

He enjoyed anything to do with farming, his family and traveling—having visited all fifty states. He never wanted to miss a family reunion or the chance to visit with extended family. John loved a good joke or story and enjoyed those who told them. He was a good neighbor who was willing to help at any time and was a role model of a good work ethic. He was a devoted chess player as long as his vision allowed, always looking for a game and teaching his children, son-in-law, grandsons and many ministers the basics of the game. He also had collections of chess sets and antiques.

John has said that his family was the highlight of his life. In recent years, he delighted in playing with his great-grandsons during their visits. The family would like to thank the Gibson City Annex for their care and becoming part of John’s extended family during his last years, and a special heartfelt blessing to Mick Kingsley of Elliot, for his faithful friendship and visits to John at the Annex. John will be deeply missed by family and friends.

 Dr. Stephen B. Widenhofer, 67, went to his eternal home with Jesus on January 1, 2019. 

Born October 25, 1951 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late Norman and Esther Widenhofer and brother to the late David B. Widenhofer. Known to many in the Millikin University School of Music as “Doc,” he was a beloved teacher, administrator, friend, and mentor.

He was a dedicated and loving husband and father to his wife Debra (Bouman) and three children, Brittany (Michael) Atwood of Monticello, IL, Dr. Marc Widenhofer of Nashville, TN, and Jacob (Emily) Widenhofer of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by grandchildren, William, Joshua, and Andrew Atwood; brother Gerald (Ronelle) Widenhofer of Ft. Wayne, IN; parents-in-law David and Lorene Bouman of Ft. Wayne, IN; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Above all else he loved Jesus and he loved people. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday January 5, 2019, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1 Bachrach Ct. Decatur, IL, followed by burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Mae was born June 20, 1923 in Hamel, Illinois the daughter of William Robert and Mabel (Florence) Brewer. She married Harold Dean Fitzgerald February 1945 in Peoria, Il. He passed away January 1, 2014.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Major Rodney H. Fitzgerald on April 30, 1980.

Mae was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL.  Mae and her husband owned and operated Fitzgerald Jewelers, Clinton, Il. which opened April 1, 1957. They then opened a second store in 1978 at the Hickory Point Mall, Forsyth, IL.  Harold and Mae also owned the Meadow Lakes Subdivision on Route 10 west of Clinton.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Peggy was born July 25, 1931 in Whitehall, Il. the daughter of William Frances and Fefa Erma (Taylor) Dowdy. She married Charles M. Schmidt September 29, 1951 in St. Charles, MO. He passed away March 28, 1969. She later married Maurice “Mousey” F. Reeter May 26, 1973 in Clinton, Il. He passed away April 21, 2005.

Survivors include her children, Randy (Sue) Reeter, Mt. Pulaski and their children Mark, Laura and Sarah; Anita Schmidt , Clinton, IL and her children Jeremy, Jennifer, and Bill; Bill Reeter, Florida, and his son Bill; along with 11 Great Grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Rhonda Hammer, 2 brothers, Lloyd Dean and Junior, and 2 sisters, Elnor and Betty.

Peggy served for 59 years at the First Christian Church. She tutored and volunteered at local grade schools, Faith in Action, and served on the board of the DeWitt County Friendship Center. She enjoyed gardening, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Evans was born May 25, 1927, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Allie Dee and Ola P. Spencer Bowles. She married Delmar E. Evans on March 15, 1960, in Gibson City, Illinois. He passed away April 12, 2011.

She is survived by her one daughter, Pam (Billy) Thomas of Farmer City, Illinois; two grandchildren, Bradley Thomas and Lena Thomas; one brother, Willis (Adriana) Bowles of Farmer City, Illinois; one sister, Thelma Parr of Urbana, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

Wilma was a cashier at Eisner’s Grocery store in Farmer City, Illinois, for many years and later a CNA at Jackson Heights Nursing Home, Farmer City, Illinois.

She attended Cowboy Church, Farmer City, Illinois.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by all.

Richard Dale Workman, 84, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 3:35 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Farmer City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Farmer City, Illinois.

His graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois, with Deacon Scott Whitehouse officiating. Military rites will be accorded.

Arrangements are entrusted with Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois.

Mr. Workman was born January 8, 1934, in Farmer City, Illinois, to Frederick B. and Pauline L. Zettler Workman. He married Florence E. Hardesty on August 31, 1963, in Bloomington, Illinois. She survives in Farmer City, Illinois.

He is also survived by his three sons, Richard “Rick” (Jill) Hardesty of Farmer City, Illinois, Joseph (Jo) Workman of Champaign, Illinois, and Michael Workman of Farmer City, Illinois; two daughters, Mary (John) Strum of Farmer City, Illinois, and Marguerite “Marge” (Ron) Roeske of Bloomington, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Richard was an United States Air Force Veteran. He was an Airman 2nd Class and served as a Police Officer in the 388th Air Police Squadron from 1954 to 1957.

He was a member of the Joe Williams American Legion Post 55, Farmer City, Illinois, and the Moose Lodge 745, Bloomington, Illinois.

Lloyd L. “Lucky” Chaudoin, 74, of Normal, Illinois, passed away December 30th, 2018 after a brief battle with liver disease.

He was born July 11, 1944 in LaPorte, Indiana, to ElRey Eugene and Betty Wood Chaudoin.  He married Sue Smith on August 6th, 1977 in Bradford, Illinois.  She survives.  Also surviving is his daughter, Bree Chaudoin (Keri Jackson); granddaughters, Makayla and Abigail Jackson, Kennedee Nott, and Hanna (Collin) Salzenstein; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws that he loved very much, who have all provided incredible support.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in the Vietnam era.  Most of his career thereafter was spent as a police officer and correctional sergeant for the Dewitt County Sherriff's Department in Clinton, Illinois.  In his free time, he loved spending time in the outdoors, boating and fishing.  He also had a passion for cars and riding motorcycles and watching his beloved Chicago Cubs.

At his request, there will be no services.  Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is assisting the family with arrangements.

William Shane Peterson 41 of Kenney, IL passed away 10 PM December 14, 2018 in Macon County as a result of a single vehicle accident.

Celebration of Shane’s life will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson officiating.  Visitation will be 11:00 – 12:00 Noon at the church.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Shane was born March 14, 1977 in Fort Worth, TX the son of Patrick Peterson and Kathleen Pitman. He married Jennifer Carter on March 13, 2012 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Peterson, Kenney, IL; father, Patrick Peterson, Clinton, IL; mother, Kathleen (John) Zeller, MN; children, Jonathan Peterson, Kenney, IL, Gage, Decatur, IL, Paris, Travis, and Cameron all of Kenney, IL, Alex Clymer, Ashley Jesse, Brittany Jesse; biological mother, Kelly Garcia, Tilden, TX; grandmother, Rhea Peterson, Clinton, IL; siblings, Jessica Keough, Pleasanton, TX, Chelcie Garcia, Pleasanton, TX, Cody Garcia, Jourdanton, TX, Cory Garcia, Tilden, TX, Shana Nickel, MN, Eliza Zeller, MN, Sheridan Zeller, MN, and John Zeller, MN; and niece, Madison Keough, Pleasanton, TX.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul “Bearpaw” Peterson.

Shane was a partner in Freedom Wood Restoration in Omaha, NB. His interests include Native American Culture, powwows, fishing and home projects. He was a very dedicated and hard-working man. He loved his family and friends, and spending time with them.

Ellen Lee Hovis 88 of Jerseyville, Il. formerly of Maroa, Il. passed away 7:57 A.M. December 29, 2018 at her family residence, Jerseyville, Il.

Services will be 11 A.M. Friday, January 4, 2019  at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with Rev. Michael Trotter officiating. Burial will follow at Bellflower Cemetery, Bellflower, Il. Visitation will be 10 – 11 A.M. Friday, January 4, 2019 at the funeral home.

Ellen was born April 27, 1930 in Parma, Missouri the daughter of Dewey and Mary (Arnold) Shipley. She married Billy Gene Hovis July 24, 1947 in New Madrid, Missouri. He passed away August 14, 1996.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Ann (Ken) Dutchik, Pineville, Louisiana.; Vickie Melissa (Vernon) Timcke, Jerseyville, Il.; Daughter-in-Law; Lori Hovis, Clinton, Il.; 8 Grandchildren; 4 Step-Grandchildren; 16 Great-Grandchildren; 19 Step-Great-Granchildren Siblings, Alma Jean (Rev. Ellen was preceded in death by her Parents, 2 Sons, Jim and Benny, 1 Daughter, Marcia and 2 Brothers.

Ellen retired from Todd Uniform, Clinton, Il. after 20 years of service. She was a member of Eastland Baptist Church, Jerseyville, Il.
