Norma was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Hinton, the daughter of Pyrl "Pete" and Mildred Doll Mathias. She was a retired assistant administrator of the Christian County Health Department, Taylorville.

Linda was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Chicago, the daughter of Merwin Kenneth and Hazel Hinkle Luttrell. She worked at Watkins Jewelry and was co-owner of L&S Woods, both of Clinton. She enjoyed her family much and loved woodworking. She married Stan Chapman on Jan. 21, 1972, in Decatur. He preceded her in death March 15, 2000. 

Surviving are her loving and caring companion, Paul Strange of Clinton; son, Kenneth E. (Donna) Blankenship of Clinton; sisters, Judie (Roger) Goss of Decatur; Connie (Ed) Younker of Clinton; brothers, Russell (Margo) Luttrell of LaPlace; Don (Rosie) Luttrell of Decatur; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; niece, Marilee Luttrell. 

Peggy Upton, 87, of Heyworth, formerly of Champaign, passed away 5:28 p.m. Monday (Feb. 24, 2014) at Heritage Health, Bloomington.

Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, with the Rev. Ken Young officiating. Burial will be at Bailey Memorial Cemetery, Tolono. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Upton was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Glendale, Ky., the youngest child of Miles Hiter and Ella Ree Cruse Upton II.

She is survived by her children; Kathleen Rauckman-Douglas, Heyworth, and Kenneth (Jolene Grider) Rauckman, Broadlands; four grandsons, Charles Routh Jr., Chad Routh, and Eric and Ryan Rauckman, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Gary (Darla) Upton, Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and her parents.

Mrs. Upton retired from University of Illinois of Veterinary Medicine Small Animal Clinic in 1990. She owned and loved animals; horses, dogs and cats. Memorials may be made to Champaign County Humane Society.

She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her entire family.

Keith Warren Dolly, 74, Clinton, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 23, 2014) at his family residence.

He was born May 25, 1939, in DeWitt, a son of Dare and Iona Bolin Dolly. He married Sharon A. Overy on Feb. 6, 1960, in Clinton.

Survivors included his wife, Sharon A. Dolly, and children, Deborah (Brett) Obermeyer and Shelley (Mike) Willoughby, all of Clinton; four grandchildren, Nolan Willoughby, Alexis Obermeyer, Sara Willoughby and Amber Obermeyer; brother, Ken (Charlene) Dolly, Decatur; and a sister, Carol (Lester) Weigley, Seymour, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jean Carter.

He was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene, Clinton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. 

Keith was a talented machinist and welder. He was owner/operator of Dolly's Machine & Welding. He was an excellent rifle marksman in the Army. He enjoyed drag racing and was in the final stages of completing his dragster.

Kenneth Eugene Ruch, 89, Farmer City, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2014) at the Farmer City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Kenneth was born March 15, 1924, in McLean County, a son of George W. and Lora D. Swigart Ruch. He married Elnor H. Glawe on Nov. 30, 1946, in DeWitt.

He is survived by his wife, Elnor H. Ruch, Farmer City; two sons, Paul D. (Lisa) Ruch, Champaign, and Phillip L. (Shelley) Ruch, Lincoln; a daughter, Peggy M. (Rick) Winford, Duncanville, Texas; one grandson, Richard Winford, Duncanville, Texas; and one brother, Charles E. Ruch, St. Charles, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; a younger brother, Richard D. Ruch; and a sister, Marjorie Shaw.

Kenneth was a 1942 graduate of Moore Township High School, Farmer City. He attended the University of Illinois before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1945, serving in the occupation of Japan. He returned home to farm in Farmer City in 1947. In 1951, Kenneth and his brother-in-law, Howard Glawe, began farming the High Crib Hog Farm in Macon. He returned to the Farmer City area in 1958, and farmed at LeRoy until retiring in 1996.

Kenneth was a member of Weedman United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday school teacher, choir director and lay leader. Kenneth was on the Farmer City School Board, holding several offices including board president. Kenneth loved to sing and sang with men’s quartets throughout his life.

Alice Emily Carl Buck departed this life on February 14, 2014. She was born on October 21, 1919 near Wapella, IL. She was the youngest daughter of Noah Carl and Nettie (Douglas) Carl. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters and four brothers, as follows: Edith Miller, Ina Cunningham, Marion Ellis Richardson, Lawrence Carl, Russell Carl, Paul Carl, and Glen Carl.

She married Earnest R. Buck on January 01, 1938. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1996. Alice and Earnest became parents of four children, namely, Phyllis Heppenstall of Auburn, WA; Duane Buck of Lawrence, KS; Kay Jewell of Edwardsville, IL; and Rita Powers of Evergreen, CO. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Kris Butt; Rick Barnett; Brian Barnett; Debie Engelken; Stacey Wellen; Jodi Lane; Jordan Arvik; and Season Bernardi; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind the following daughter-in-law and sons-in-law: Pat Buck, Charles Jewell, and Dale Powers. She was beloved by all and will be greatly missed.

Alice graduated from Heyworth High School in 1937. She was primarily a wife, mother and home-maker, but held various jobs throughout her life, the last being at the Heyworth Grade School cafeteria. She was a long time member of the Heyworth Christian Church. Alice had many fond memories of her Heyworth neighbors, friends and church family, and enjoyed recounting those memories over the years. She had an amazing memory and could recall details with great clarity. She enjoyed embroidery work, creating many beautiful keep-sake items for her family & friends, and was able to continue this hobby her entire life. She also enjoyed music (especially hymns and country) and liked to sing while hanging clothes on the line to dry in the summer breeze. She and Earnest participated in square dancing in Heyworth, and also made several trips to the Grand 'Ole Opry.

During her life-time, Alice lived her Christian faith daily including helping many senior residents in the Heyworth area. She was always more than willing to do whatever necessary, i.e. laundry, make and deliver meals, & assist with housecleaning whenever an opportunity presented itself to help someone. One of her favorite Bible verses was Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble." Alice lived most of her life in the Heyworth area, but she and Earnest later resided in Auburn, WA near their eldest daughter, Phyllis from 1995 to 2011. It was her desire to return to her beloved Illinois, and in Spring 2011 she moved to Cambridge House, an assisted living facility in Maryville, IL, residing near her daughter, Kay and family.

A service honoring her life will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heyworth Christian Church with the Vernon Oakley officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. Donations may be made in Alice’s memory to the Heyworth Christian Church. Mildred Simpkins Ogden, 89, Heyworth, died Friday (Feb. 14, 2014) at Manor Court, Clinton.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Vernon L. Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in Heyworth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home.

Mildred was born Nov. 3, 1924, at Evansville, Ind., a daughter of Albert and Lola Ann Shrode Youngblood. She married Charles Simpkins on June 5, 1943, at St. Charles, Mo. He died April 19, 1969. She married Daniel E. Ogden on Nov. 17, 1973, at Heyworth. Dan died July 7, 2008.

Survivors included two daughters, Nancy (Larry) Wickenhauser, Heyworth, and Marcia (Gilbert) Forrest, Saybrook; four grandchildren, Jerry (Amy) Wickenhauser and Ronny Wickenhauser, Douglas (Audra) Forrest and Kimberly Forrest; 10 great-grandchildren, Adam, Megan, Austin, Jack and Ruth Wickenhauser, and Christopher, Chelsea, Tressa, Leah and Natalie Forrest; a great-great-grandson, Maddox Forrest; three sisters, Mary Louise (Robert) Geske, Bloomington; Thelma Marlene Bates, Evansville, Ind.; and Ruby Marie Kujawski, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and three sisters-in-law, Marian Youngblood, Veda Youngblood and Juanita Youngblood; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, seven brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Mildred worked for many years as a sales clerk for McClelland’s, Livingston’s, Klemm’s and Miller’s True Value, all in Bloomington, prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the Heyworth Young at Heart and Heyworth Golden Agers.

Mildred enjoyed decorating for the holidays, having a theme for each month of the year, and enjoyed showing family and friends the fruits of her labor.

Frederick Lamb Gilman, 95, of Skillman, NJ, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 14, 2014. Born in Warrensburg, Illinois in January 1919, Mr. Gilman was a long time resident of Lawrenceville, N.J. before moving to Stonebridge at Montgomery in Skillman, N.J.

Son of Lelia Lamb and George Gilman, he is survived by Ruth Sutherland Gilman, his wife of 66 years, children Joanna (William Strauss), Thomas (Jennifer Gilman), and Martha (Scott Yarberry) and his grandchildren, Grace and Quinn Gilman, and Aric and Neal Yarberry.

After completing his education at Millikin University and The University of Illinois, he entered the U. S. Navy Midshipman School at Northwestern University. During WW II he served one year as a Communication Officer on the staff of Admiral Nimitz followed by three years as a Gunnery Division Officer on the USS Salt Lake City, a heavy cruiser in the Pacific Theater.

He worked for the National Cash Register Company in the Marketing Division for 25 years and later as V.P. Information Technology at Princeton Insurance Company.

He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, Hopewell Valley Golf Club, The Old Guard of Princeton, The Nassau Club and Scottish Rite. He became a member of the Society of the Cincinnati, Sons of the Revolution and other hereditary organizations based on ancestry, and he traced his earliest roots to Edward Gilman who emigrated from Hingham, England in 1638.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 1, 2014 at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, 2688 Main Street Lawrenceville, N. J. Burial will be at the Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville or to a charity of one’s choice.

David O. Fredrick, 73, of Monticello

Died Thursday February 13, 2014 at 9:19 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

David was born November 10, 1940 in Elgin, Illinois. Son of Lillian G (Oerkfitz) and Wilbur M. Fredrick.

He married Charlotte Hanson on January 11, 1973 in San Diego California, she survives.

Also surviving are one son, David W. Fredrick (Dana) of Quincy. One daughter Angela K. Gadbury (Steven) of Mahomet. Three grandchildren Jacob P. Gadbury, Jared M. Gadbury, and Jackson D. Fredrick. One sister Kay Carnes (David) of Monticello. His four legged kids Buddy and Sugar.

He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1958. He retired from the US Navy in 1977. He worked for EMI and Honeywell in Los Angeles, California for 9 years before moving to Monticello. He worked for Municipal Electronics in Decatur until 2012. He belonged to the Fleet Reserve North Central Association Region Branch 221 Peoria. He also belonged to American Legion Post 24 of Champaign and was post commander for 3 years. He belonged to LST 325 museum of Evanston, Indiana. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailor Association. He had a love for computer technology and genealogy and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Dorothy “Dot” Alice Boaden Davidson, 85, a resident of Lincoln Christian Village, Lincoln, formerly of Springfield, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2014) at St. John’s Hospice, Springfield.

Dot was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Springfield, the daughter of Kenneth W. and Evaline Poor Boaden. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Susan Boaden and Judy Snodgrass.

She was a graduate of Springfield High School and had been employed at R.W. Troxell, American Savings & Loan and the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk's Office. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Welcome Wagon and Newcomers. She was a master bridge player and teacher and also enjoyed reading and traveling.

She is survived by her daughters, L. Gay (Rod Wedekind) Davidson, Springfield, and Jill Ludwig, Minonk; her son, John (Kelley) Davidson, Springfield; grandsons, Jacob Davidson and David Ludwig; and great-granddaughters, Bradley Marie Ludwig and Alayna Denise Ludwig.

Max E. Beals, 79, of Monticello, died at 4:05 a.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Carle Hospital, Urbana.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Lanny Faulkner officiating. Max was born May 23, 1934 in Sadorus, IL the son of William Amos and Ona Marie (Rippy) Beals. He married Joann Hall on November 15, 1958 in Monticello.

Survivors include his wife; Joann Beals of Monticello, daughter; Barbara (J.D.) Russell of Monticello, son; Steven (Brenda) Beals of St. Joseph, grandchildren; Jim Lawrence III, Michael Lawrence, Ashley Beals, and Alyssa Beals, and a brother; Bob (Ruth) Beals of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers (Dale and Russell Beals).

Max was retired from the Pioneer Seed Corn Company and the Armory House Properties; however he also worked as an Electric Motor Salesman along with farming grain and livestock. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atwood. Max’s hobbies included collecting antiques and farm toys, playing pinochle, attending the grandchildren’s sporting events, and the love of his family.

Catherine R. “Katie” Brooks, 91, Lincoln, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 11, 2014) at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Pat was born in Madison, WI on July 17, 1942 to Andrew and Wilma (Kopf) Quam. She graduated from DeForest High School, the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, and Illinois State University. She majored in Elementary Education and taught over 30 years for Argenta-Oreana Schools. She primarily taught Kindergarten and Third Grade.

On October 24, 1964 she married Douglas Lueck in Reedsburg, WI. They were blessed with a son, Chad and daughter, Kristi.

She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday School and was active in the Ladies Guild. She also belonged to Retired Teachers Association, Prairie Homemakers and other civic organizations through the years.

She is survived by her Husband, her Mother, Wilma Behr of Edmond, OK, her Son, Chad (Toni) Lueck of Bloomington, IL, her Daughter, Kristi (John) Mulcahey of Waunakee, WI. Grandchildren – Karson and Holden Lueck and Taylor, Alanna and Brogan Mulcahey. Also her Brother, Byron (Elsa) Quam of Cottage Grove, WI, her Sister, Sharon (Shri) Satwalakar of Edmond, OK and her Step-brother, Mel Behr and her Step-sisters, Elaine Stipnek and Jan Housman.

She was preceded in death by her Father, her infant Sister, Lori and Step-father, Dan Behr.

Anna Amelia Strampp, of Lincoln, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at 7:45 p.m. at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln after a good long life of 107 years.

Anna was born November 28, 1906 at Burtonview, IL the daughter of William and Amelia Stoltzenburg Gaedtka. She married Louis Strampp December 25, 1930. He preceded her in death September 8, 1973.

Anna is survived by one son: Harold (Marilyn) Strampp of Lincoln; one granddaughter: Karen (David) Russell of Indiana; one grandson: Craig (Teresa) Strampp of Lincoln; one great grandson: Tanner Strampp; one great granddaughter: Karlee Russell; two step great grandsons: Justin and Trevor Matheny. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother: Carl Gaedtka.

Anna was a homemaker and member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lincoln.

Delores Green, 76 of Bement, IL., passed away at 7:15 A.M., on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Bement Health Care Center, Bement, IL.

Delores was born on April 6, 1937 in Fisher, IL. a daughter of C. Wayne and Alberta Tennyson Adams. She married Leonard Green on July 7, 2001 in Sullivan, IL., and he survives of Bement, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Delores had wished her desires to be cremated and cremation rites have been accorded.

Dessie Opal Robinson, who passed on in the evening hours of Feb. 8, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital. Dessie was born on March 6, 1918 in Decatur, IL. She was the fourth child, of seven children, born to Arizona Dalton and Virgil Madison Thompson. On November 14, 1936, in Decatur, Illinois, she and the love of her life, Monroe Robinson, were joined in Holy Matrimony. They lived a life of devoted love for forty-three years until his death on August 9, 1979.

Dessie is survived by one son, Lee Robinson of Cisco, IL and three daughters Sharon (Edward) Hettinger and Carol (Larry) Ziemer of Monticello, IL and Jann (Dave) Cognata of Jacksonville, FL. Her eight grandchildren are Brent (Mary Jo) Hettinger and Brad (Lisa) Hettinger of Monticello, IL, Brian Hettinger of Long Beach, CA, Nick (Beth) Ziemer of Bloomington, IL, Tam (Bob) Wharton of Loami, IL, Mike (Brenda) Cognata of Laredo, TX, Matt Cognata (Tricia Ledoux) of Jacksonville, FL, and Mark Cognata (Lila McDowell) of New York. Her nine great-grandchildren are Rachel Hettinger of Normal, IL, Joe Bartnick and Jake Bartnick of Loami, IL, Johnathan Hettinger, Claire Hettinger and Marissa Hettinger of Monticello, IL, Ruthie Ziemer of Bloomington, IL, Cameron Wollard and Chase Riker of Jacksonville, FL. Dessie is, also, survived by her devoted and loyal nephew Phil (Faye) Benjamin of Monticello, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Robinson, grandson, Burke Hettinger, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Dessie is remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved family and friend activities, bowling when she was younger, games, puzzles, reading and writing poems. For several years, she was active in Home Extension and volunteered with the Toy and Gift Program. Dessie and Monroe traveled frequently, both east and west, sightseeing and visiting family. Even after Monroe’s death, Dessie traveled on bus trips with the First Christian Church group and, also, made trips out of the country to visit her daughter and family. Over the years, she was employed at Syrup Pepsin, Burgin Brothers Department Store, Oehmke’s Grocery and Monticello Ag Center. She and her husband enjoyed the many years they lived at Allerton Park in the “Gingerbread House”.

Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello, IL. Interment of the urn will be in the Monticello Cemetery.

Anita Jeanette Stahl Van Pelt, 91, Elkhart, died at 1:54 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 6, 2014) at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Anita was born Sept. 6, 1922, at home in Elkhart, to Edwin R. and Edna M. Burns Stahl. She graduated from Elkhart High School and later attended Brown’s Business College. During World War II, she worked at Selectiver Service, where she made lifelong friends. She married Harvey Clark Van Pelt on July 22, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1955. She later married Loren E. Potts. He also preceded her in death after several years. She was a member of Elkhart Methodist Church.

After moving to Lanesville in the late 1950s, Anita owned and ran the Country Market, a grocery and general merchandise store, with a post office; she was the Lanesville postmaster. She closed this in the late 1960s when large supermarkets had made small-town stores no longer viable. She worked for the Illinois Department of Public Health as an accountant, and later as a personnel liaison until her retirement in 1983.

In 1986, she moved back to her hometown of Elkhart where she lived until her death in the home that her grandparents, Maytiebelle and Charles Stahl, had built in 1903.

She loved Elkhart and was very active in community affairs. She was a founding member of the Elkhart Historical Society, a member of the Needs and Goals Committee, the treasurer of the Elkhart Cemetery Association and a former board member of the Oasis Senior Center in Lincoln. Anita was an avid reader, writer and correspondent. She had a lifelong interest in culture, history, the arts and current events and politics. She traveled all over the United States as well as in Europe and to Israel and Jordan.

She was a loyal friend who assisted and cared for many elderly friends and relatives. Anita had a generous spirit and supported many charitable organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; her younger brother, Henry Stahl; infant grandson, Benjamin Van Pelt; nephew, Eddie Stahl; and recently by her beloved canine companion and friend, Annie.

She is survived by her son, William H. Van Pelt, Springfield; her daughter, Virginia A. Van Pelt, Elkhart; grandson, Adam (Sarah) Van Pelt, Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Jack (Carol) Stahl, Albuquerque, N.M..; sister-in-law, Geraldine "Jerry" Stahl, Bartlesville, Okla.; her cousin’s widow, Priscilla "Pat" Johnson, Decatur; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Anita will be sorely missed, but remembered for her great sense of humor, her hilarious stories and accounts of events, and her kind and loving heart.

Ruth Anderson Jurjevich, 100, Lincoln, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln.

Joseph Lesley DeBauche, 38, Wapella, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Assembly of God Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Dan Bell officiating. Burial will be at Willmore Cemetery, Birkbeck. He was born Oct. 9, 1975, in Clinton, son of Daniel E. and Sheryl Welch DeBauche. He married Nicole L. Atteberry on June 15, 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Nicole L. DeBauche, Wapella; mother and stepfather, Sheryl and Ray Maier, Wapella; father and stepmother, Danny and Jackie DeBauche, Hudson, Wis.; son, Paine Hadden DeBauche, Wapella; daughters, Cheyenne Atteberry, Bloomington, and Sierra Atteberry, Wapella; paternal grandfather, William Futerall, Red Wing, Minn.; sister, Dusty (Chris) Monberg, Wapella; brothers, John B. (Jennifer) Maier, New Bern, N.C., and Thomas J. (Sabrina) Maier, Clayton, N.C.; nephew, William D. Scott; and nieces, Ashley and Jessica Scott, all of Wapella.

He was a 1993 graduate of Wapella High School and had attended Central Bible College and World Harvest Bible College.

Joe loved basketball and coaching. He had coached for the Lightning, Blaze, Warriors and Inferno teams. He was a positive influence and loved all who he coached.

Alma Lee (Mills) Burns, 90, Clinton, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 4, 2014) peacefully at her son Richard's home in Kickapoo.

She was born May 27, 1923, to Frank and Florence Anderson Mills. She married Laurence R. "Doc" Burns on Jan. 16, 1943, in Clinton. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Richard Laurence Burns, and daughter-in-law, Colleen Callahan Burns, of Kickapoo, and her granddaughter, Brittney Rae Burns of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lyle Dean Burns, whose wife, Terry Burns, survives.

She was one of seven siblings, three of whom preceded her in death: Bernard Mills, Opal Miller and Hazel Smith. She is survived by her siblings, Louise Smith, Mildred Burns and Darrell Mills, all of Clinton. She was beloved by her nieces and nephews.

Alma was an extremely talented quilter and enjoyed spending time with her card club.

In celebration of Alma's life, her family is hosting a reception from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Immediately following the reception, a luncheon in Alma's honor will be at Ted's Garage, 602 S. Center St., Clinton.

Sharon G. Donnan, 77, of Lane, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday (Feb. 3, 2014) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Sharon was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Clinton, to Owen and Clarice Reynolds Donnan. He married Beverly M. West on Aug. 16, 1957, in Clinton.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly M. Donnan, Lane; children, Chris (Nancy) Donnan, Clinton, and Valerie (Mark) Plunkett, Petersburg; five granddaughters, Jill (Andrew) Newberg, Clinton; Ashley Plunkett, Springfield; Melissa (Bill) Reidy, Normal; Samantha (Matt) Whitehurst, Athens; and Shelby Plunkett, Los Angeles, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Evan Newberg and Marlie and Dayton Whitehurst; one sister, Lora Lee Oliva, Dade City, Fla.; and one brother, Owen (Yvonne) Brimmer, Umatilla, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and half sister, Kathy Donnan.

Sharon was a member of Lane Christian Church. He owned and operated Hallsville Elevator and was in the grain elevator business for 42 years.

He planted and sold Christmas trees, including Christmas wreaths and roping. The last several years he and Andy Hedrick combined their talents and sold trees, wreaths and roping to many families each year.

He was a member of the Fantastic 5, who helped build the Lane Christian Church. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his five granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Arthur ‘Gordon’ Huff, 75, of Monticello, died at 9:25 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2014, at the Bement Health Care Center.

A graveside service with Military graveside rites will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Dan Koenigs officiating. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Gordon was born August 5, 1938 in Farmer City, IL the son of Arthur E. and Doris (Valentine) Huff. He married Virginia L. Eades on April 5, 1957 in Farmer City. She passed away on April 1, 2011.

Survivors include his daughter; Teale LaRosa (Eddie) of Bement, grandchildren; Hope McWilliams and Hannah Mohr, brothers; Cecil Huff of Farmer City and Tom Huff of Atlanta, GA, and a sister; Deena Wheeler of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 1 son (Scott Huff).

Gordon was retired from the U.S. Air Force and the Social Security Administration. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Gordon enjoyed watching his TV travel shows.

Lawrence E. Bartosik, 81, of Heyworth, passed away at 3:23 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 2, 2014) at OSF St. Joseph Hospital, Bloomington.

There will be no visitation and private family graveside Friday at Randolph Township Memorial Cemetery.

Lawrence was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Bloomington. He married Mary Shube Nov. 29, 1952. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, two daughters, 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Lawrence served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean conflict. Bart was an electrician who retired from IBEW Local 197. He worked as a mechanic at Johnny Martin Chevrolet. He also worked as a diesel mechanic for many years.

Charles Rodney “Chuck” Brannock, 74, of Farmer City passed away at 7:45 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

His funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, with his son, the Rev. Charles F. Brannock officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, with military rites accorded.

Chuck was born May 19, 1939, in Urbana, a son of Harold Elmo and Katherine Elizabeth White Brannock. He married Agnes Geraldene West on Nov. 1, 1964, in Clinton.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes Geraldene Brannock, Farmer City; son, Charles F. (Richelle) Brannock, Heyworth; three grandsons, William Brannock, Mitchel Brannock and Colby Brannock, all of Heyworth; and two sisters, Elda Resler and Sandra (Jake) Johnson, both of Farmer City.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Andrews.

Chuck was a retired custodian having worked at Franklin Elementary Grade school and Blue Ridge High School in Farmer City for several years. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Center in Heyworth.
