Josephine T. Garonio of Bloomington

Josephine T. Garzonio, 98, of Bloomington died at 6:03 p.m. Friday (Sept. 30, 2011) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Her funeral will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Monsignor Doug Hennessey officiating. Interment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the memorial home. Memorial gifts may be made to Westminster Village Foundation or Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington.

She was born Aug. 16, 1913, in Ladd, a daughter of Michael and Mary Perucca Campeggio. She married LeRoy W. Garzonio on April 28, 1951, in LaSalle. He died Dec. 14, 1999.

She is survived by a son, Dennis M. (Debra) Garzonio, Bloomington; a grandson, Dominic (Jillian) Garzonio, Oak Lawn; and her sister, Sister Mary Eymard, Saint Mary of the Woods, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Peter; and two sisters, Theresa and Madeline.

Mrs. Garzonio worked for 18 years for Westclox at LaSalle/Peru. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington

William D. 'Bill' Tucker of Wapella

William D. “Bill” Tucker, 70, of Wapella, died at 3:35 p.m. Friday (Sept. 30, 2011) at his home in Wapella. His memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy. Private inurnment will be a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Goldie Kirby Cox of LeRoy

Goldie Kirby Cox, 98, LeRoy, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 28, 2011) at the LeRoy Manor. 

Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the LeRoy United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mary Louise Haxton will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Farmer City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Kirby Funeral Home, Homer, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cox was born Sept. 27, 1913, in Bellflower, a daughter of Samuel and Mary Stiles Lappin. She married Eugene Kirby on March 31, 1935, in Saybrook. He passed away in May 1971. She later married Roy Cox on Oct. 6, 1979. He passed away in March 1980. 

Survivors include one daughter, Martha Riddle, Irvine, Calif.; two sons, Merle (Karen) Kirby, LeRoy, and Myron (Sandra) Kirby, LeRoy, (recently moved). She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Sue Furtney; one grandson, Lonnie Kirby; two sisters; and two brothers.

Mrs. Cox was affiliated with the Christian faith. She was a homemaker and farmwife for many years. She was a member of the LeRoy Garden Club, Farmer City Legion Auxiliary Unit 55, INT Card Club of Farmer City, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles.

Goldie’s hobbies included the love of dancing (where she would often go multiple times per week); and she loved fishing and gardening, with interest in growing all types of flowers, and she loved spending time with her family.

Veda Obera Harrold of Clinton

Veda Obera Harrold, 92, Clinton, died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 25, 2011) at McLean County Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Grace Church, 1311 W. Hovey, Normal, with the Rev. Len Thebarge officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday at the church.

She was born Aug. 26, 1919, at Dunlap, Iowa, daughter of Everett Farlow Herron and Ruah Ethyle Rice Herron. She married Bernard J. Harrold on Jan. 5, 1944, at Washington, D.C. He died in January 2002.

Surviving are her children, Pamela Sue (JR) Buggar, Bloomington, and Patricia Ann (Kelly) Casey, Kalamazoo, Mich.; grandchildren, J. Michael Buggar and Valerie DiGiglia, both of Bloomington; Jared Buggar, LeRoy; Erin Casey, Eugene, Ore.; and David Casey, Kalamazoo, Mich.; and great-grandchildren, Jerry Dronenberg III, Lauren Buggar, Sophia DiGiglia, Blake Buggar, Sarah DiGiglia and Devyn Buggar.

Mom went from fingerprinting for the FBI, where she met her future husband, to farming outside Clinton. She devoted herself to her husband and family and adapted from a Lincoln, Neb., city girl to a farmer’s wife. Everyone who knew her described  her as a sweet lady who was much loved.

Tina Tomlovich of Maroa

 Tina Tomlovich, 45, of Maroa passed away at 1:37 am Thursday, September 22, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Tina was born on August 4, 1966 in Decatur the daughter of Larry and Phyllis (Dick) Atwood. She worked at the Clinton Power Station from 1985-1993 and most recently worked for Lincoln State Bank in Clinton. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Maroa. She was a volunteer for GAB and helped with many activities at the children's school. She married Joseph Mark Tomlovich on March 2, 1993 in Clinton. Surviving are her husband, Mark, children, John Tomlovich, Matthew Tomlovich, Catherine Tomlovich, Mary Tomlovich, and Rachel Tomlovich; parents, Larry and Phyllis Atwood of Decatur, grandparents, James W. and Rosemary Dick of Decatur; sisters, Sheila Dyke of Columbus, IN; Tammy Eubank (Rich) of Brownstown, IN; and Betti Ground (Bob) of Latham. Donald Henry Voll-stedt of Bloomington

Donald Henry Voll-stedt, 86, Bloomington, and more recently of LeRoy, went home to live with his lord and savior at 1:10 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 22, 2011) in LeRoy.

Don’s memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at LeRoy Christian Church, 106 S. East St., LeRoy, with Brother Sam Eddy officiating and music provided by organist Madelyn Bock and soloist Nancy Spratt.

Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, with full military rites accorded.

Memorial gifts may be made to LeRoy Christian Church or to Little Galilee Christian Camp.

Don was born Aug. 13, 1925, in Davenport, Iowa, son of Henry C. and Fern Radech Vollstedt.

Don was married to Helen Louise Laird Vollstedt on Jan. 27, 1950, and she preceded him in death on April 11, 1981. After Helen’s death, on Oct. 15, 1981, he was married to Marie Clesson Crump Vollstedt who passed away Feb. 25, 2008.

Survivors include his sons, Tim (Linda) Voll-stedt, LeRoy; Mark (Kathy) Vollstedt, Bloomington; David (Pat) Vollstedt, DeKalb; and Philip (Karen) Vollstedt, Brownsville, Pa.; a daughter, Jan Jensen, Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren, John Vollstedt, Scott Ochoa, Nathan Vollstedt, John Ghazal, Chad Ghazal, Jennifer Vollstedt and Samuel Vollstedt; three great-grandchildren, Christian Vollstedt, Nicole Glazer and Isabella Ochoa; brother, Jim Vollstedt, Silver Spring, Md.; sister, Jean (Bill) Williams, Sacramento, Calif.; and stepdaughters, Linda (John) Callison, Mansfield, Texas, and Marcia (John) Gudeman, Phoenix, Ariz.

Along with his beloved wives, Don was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Becky; a granddaughter, Khadijah; and two brothers, John and Dick.

Don grew up in Danville, graduating from Danville High School, where he was a childhood friend of Dick Van Dyke. A highly decorated World War II Coast Guard veteran, Don served in the Merchant Marine seeing considerable action. He was “in the water” twice when ships he was aboard were sunk by enemy fire. Don was also a retiree from the railroad with nearly 40 years of service. He was a member of LeRoy Christian Church, the area Christian Men’s Fellowship and American Legion Post 79, LeRoy.

But above all, Don was a Christian and preacher of the Gospel. Receiving a degree from then Lincoln Bible Institute, he held ministries at Texas Christian Church, rural Clinton; San Jose Christian Church, San Jose; Hooton Church of Christ, Danville; Gridley Christian Church, Gridley; and First Christian Church in Pontiac. In the late 1970s, Don moved most of his family to Australia where he held a circuit ministry with three different churches. After a few difficult years battling dementia, Don was more than ready to go home to heaven. Many thanks go to the nurses and dedicated staff at LeRoy Manor, which was his home since July of 2007.

Don was an active Christian and a dedicated servant of the Lord Jesus Christ until the very end. He fought the good fight and he finished the course.

Bob was born Dec. 29, 1927, at Oreana, a son of Julius Raymond and Hattie May James DeVault. He married Shirley Ann Jackson on May 29, 1953, in Havana.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. DeVault, Farmer City; son, Robert L. (Debbie) DeVault Jr., Ogden; two daughters, Donna (Dana) Evans, Farmer City, and Carol A. (Eric) Kersey, Fisher; grandchildren, Brittany Louise Chrysler Evans, Brett A. Kersey, Quinten (Cynthia) DeVault and Sarah DeVault; great-grandchildren, Lexi Williams, Jason Jackson and Jashawna Jackson; and brother, Frank (Irene) DeVault, Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Bob had worked at the DeWitt County Co-op in Clinton for many years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a life member of Joe Williams American Legion Post 55 and life member of Fred G. O’Malley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6190, both of Farmer City.

Lyle D. Reeder, 82, DeWitt, IL, a businessman, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011 in Phoenix, AZ. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 from 5-7 PM at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. Funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at 11 AM at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. Burial will be in DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, IL.

Lyle D. Reeder of DeWitt

Lyle D. Reeder, 82, DeWitt, a businessman, land owner-operator and conservationist, died Sept. 12, 2011, at the home of his nephew, John D. Reeder, Phoenix, Ariz.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with burial in DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Reeder was born Aug. 4, 1929, in DeWitt, the son of John H. and Inez B. Clary Reeder. He graduated from Clinton Community High School and the University of Illinois, Champaign. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

He is survived by his only sister, Katie (Vance L.) Fraley, Taylorville; and 18 nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and six brothers, Roger, Morris, John, Buddy, Carl and James.

Mr. Reeder divided his residency between DeWitt and Aspen, Colo. He was well-known in the Aspen community for his commitment to land conservation.
