George Orville Hiser

George Orville Hiser, 87 of Mt. Zion, formerly of rural Hammond, passed away at 9:38 PM Sunday July 2, 2017 in Fair Havens Christian Home, surrounded by his family.
 
Services to celebrate George’s life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday July 5, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor David Brown. Visitation will be held from noon until the service time. Interment will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Cerro Gordo Volunteer Fire Department.
 
George was born on January 28, 1930 in rural Oakley, IL the son of Orville O. and Hattie (Lanter) Hiser. He was a lifetime farmer. He married Harriet Catlin on November 22, 1951 in Boiling Springs Church of God in Decatur. George was a member of the Cerro Gordo Lions Club, former Board Member of the Cerro Gordo Grain Association, former board member of the Cerro Gordo Ambulance Service, member of the former Oakley United Methodist Church, and a former Cub Scout Master. George enjoyed gardening, tinkering in the shed fixing things and going to coffee at the elevator.
 
Surviving are his wife Harriet of over 65 years of Mt. Zion, children- Lynn and his wife Diana of Oakley, Marcia and her husband Larry Gaitros of Oakley, Darryl and his wife Vickie of Argenta, Tami and her husband Tim Newell of Oakley and Daniel and his wife Soraya of Cerro Gordo, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
 
George was greeted in Heaven by his parents, two sisters- Alberta (Francis) Morr and Lena Mae (Joe) Peterson and his infant brother Willard A. Hiser.
