Warren R. Stauffer

Warren R. Stauffer, 79, of Clinton, IL passed away 4:22 AM December 27, 2022 at Carle BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial for Warren will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday January 4, 2023 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton, IL with Rev. Fr. James Owusu-Yeboah, SMA Celebrant. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Tuesday January 3, 2023 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with a Rosary Service at 4:30 PM.

Memorials may be directed to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Warren was born November 25, 1943 in Saybrook, IL the son of Calvin B. and Lillian (Hamel) Stauffer. He married Sandra K. Stanley September 12, 1970 in Lincoln, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra K. Stauffer, Clinton, IL; children Gary (Natascha) Stauffer, Dallas, TX, Clay Stauffer, Clinton, IL, Shane Stauffer, Bloomington, IL; seven grandchildren: Cain, Dylan, Max, Jonah, Brady, Shea, Cadel; two great-grandchildren Daylen and Raiden; siblings Nelda Jordan, Gibson City, IL; Ron Stauffer, Saybrook, IL; and Rex (Jan) Stauffer, Bloomington, IL along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers.

Warren worked for G.T.E. for 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family. He was a selfless man and “the fixer of everything.”

Mark Randall Seppi

Mark Randall Seppi, 55 of Kenney, IL passed away 1:15 PM December 26, 2022 at his home in Kenney, IL.

No services are planned at this time. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Mark was born May 19, 1967 in Joliet, IL the son of Rudolph “Rudy” and Judith A. “Judy” (Tallman) Seppi.

Survivors include his father, Rudolph “Rudy” Seppi, Kenney, IL; siblings, Jamie (Herman) Jolly, Plainfield, IL, and Danny (Mariya) Seppi, Symerton, IL; two nieces, Elizabeth (Donny) Furbee, Newark, IL and Donna Dobson, Clinton, IL; two nephews, Stephen Michael Jolly, Plainfield IL and Daniel Rudolph Seppi, Peotone, IL; one great-niece, Finleigh Judith Rose Furbee, Newark, IL and one great-nephew on the way, Alexander David Scott Furbee.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith A. “Judy”, and two brothers, David Joseph and Scott Matthew Seppi.

Mark was very musically inclined, enjoying playing the piano and keyboard.

Lana M. Dyer

Lana M. Dyer 63 of Clinton, IL passed away 8:45 PM December 23, 2022 at her family residence, Clinton, IL.

Services will be 10 AM Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to St. Louis Children’s Research Hospital. 

Lana was born November 27, 1959 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Clifford and Susie (Kurr) Scrimager. She married Donald L. Dyer October 14, 1978 in Bement, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Dyer, Clinton, IL; parents, Clifford and Susie Scrimager, Bement, IL; children, Daniel (Michelle) Dyer, Clinton, IL, Matthew (Heather) Dyer, Monticello, IL, and Bradley Dyer, Clinton, IL, along with 11 grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Scrimager.

Lana was a Certified Lay Speaker for the Methodist Church. She was the secretary for the Eastern Star and Worthy High Priestess with the White Shrine. She was also involved with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Nancy J. Owens

Nancy J. Owens, 73, of Clinton, IL passed away at 6:19 PM December 23, 2022 in her family residence, Clinton, IL.

Private family services will be at a later date. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Nancy was born December 17, 1949 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Lien Earl and Kathryn G. (Burris) Scott. She married Jessie Owens March 15, 1969 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include her husband Jessie Owens, Clinton, IL; children, Jessie Owens, Jr., Warrensburg, IL and Belinda Houston, Clinton, IL; grandchildren, Christopher, Colton, Jessica, and Jordan; great grandchildren, Molly, Emma, Oliver, Olivia, Ezra, Elijah, Ella, and Sophia; and sister, Jody Kiper, Clinton, IL.

She was preceded in death by parents, and siblings, Butch, Roger, Linda, Sandy, and Alice.

Nancy enjoyed playing bingo, but she loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Robert J. Grant

Creve Coeur – Robert J. Grant, 40, of Creve Coeur, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his home.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Waynesville United Methodist Church in Waynesville, Illinois.

A Memorial Service will be led by Rev. Tami Werschey-Kessinger at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner at the church.

Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Robert James Grant was born March 15, 1982, in Lincoln, the son of Mark T. and Kum Nam Kwon Grant.

He is survived by his mother, Kum (Chris) Hodgins, two brothers: Jason C. (Alissa) Grant and Sean Grant, two nephews: Owen and Aiden Grant, and two nieces: Ashtyn Grant and Brittain Horner.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Robert worked in construction. He enjoyed fishing, snowboarding, playing guitar and watching sports. He was an avid Bears fan.

Memorials in Robert’s memory may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Mary E. Tomkinson

Mary E. Tomkinson 70 of Clinton, IL passed away 9:24 PM December 19, 2022 at her family residence, Clinton, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 1 PM Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Pastor Aaron Bird officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to Lutheran School Association of Decatur or the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Decatur.

 

Mary was born January 9, 1952 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Harold and Norma (Nelson) Begeman. She married Dennis Tomkinson November 28, 1981 in Bethalto, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Tomkinson, Clinton, IL, children, Brian (Erica) Tomkinson, Lincoln, IL; Jason Tomkinson, Bloomington, IL; and Sarah Tomkinson, Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Brooklyn and Ryan Tomkinson, Lincoln, IL, and brother, John (Lois) Begeman, Mendon, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Mary loved camping and puzzles, but especially teaching at the Lutheran School Association of Decatur.

 

Larry V. "Bubba" Nix

Larry V. “Bubba” Nix, 82 of Maroa, IL passed away peacefully at his home in Maroa, IL late evening on Sunday, December 18, 2022.  He was surrounded by his loving wife, Janet Nix, and his nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Rev. Mary Alice Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at the Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

 

Memorials may be directed to Maroa “M” Club.

 

Larry was born August 25, 1940 in Decatur, IL the son of Valentine Silas and Vera Jane (Roberts) Nix. He married Janet Bolton September 5, 1970 in Maroa, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Janet Nix, Maroa, IL; nieces, Vonda, Katrina, Michelle, Dawn, and Marilyn; and nephews, John P., Chad, John G., Bruce, Bubba, and Dave.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, two sisters, and a nephew Bill.

 

He was a long-time resident of Maroa and an ardent supporter of all things Maroa Forsyth Trojans. He and Janet started the first Girl’s Area Best in 1980 and was a devout attendant to all MFHS Friday night football games until his health prevented him from attending.  He could be found after every game passing out favorite-flavored Tootsie-Roll pops and Gatorade that he brought to give to as many players as Janet would allow. 

 

As an uncle, he gave endless support to his many nieces and nephews from providing a home when needed, making custom furniture, planning special surprises, repairing a host of items, making root-beer floats, offering sage advice and simply always being there when he was needed.  Larry was an adoring husband to Janet and was always making special gifts to show her how much she was loved.

 

Larry was the youngest of nine children and was close with his brothers and sisters. Larry was cared for in his home by Janet and our dear friend, Danielle, until his passing.  Janet and Larry were married for 52 years which he lived to the fullest.

 

For those who knew Larry, or “Bubba”, they knew someone who embraced life and to know him was to love him.

Ronald L. Bandy

Ronald L. Bandy, 89 of Clinton, IL, passed away 8:20 AM December 5, 2022 at his family residence, Clinton, IL.

Services will be 11 AM Thursday, December 8, 2022 the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Michael Taylor officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 – 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 2:30 PM Thursday at the Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg, IL.

Ronald was born September 24, 1933 in Edinburg, IL the son of William T. and Nettie (Wolfe) Bandy. He married Judith E. Edwards August 4, 1961 in Edinburg, IL. 

Survivors include his wife, Judith E. Bandy, Clinton, IL; children, Tami (Gary) Shawgo, Peoria, IL and Von (Deanna) Bandy, Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Olivia (Alex) German, Madison (Connor) Carnduff, Evan (Reily) Shawgo, Parker Bandy, and Carly Bandy; great grandchildren, Brinley Shawgo and Owen German; siblings, Robert (Herberta) Bandy, Taylorville, IL and Darrell Bandy, Moweaqua, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and 3 sisters. 

Ron was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. During his life, he had worked for Lowers Furniture, Empire Gas and retired from the Warner Hospital for 17 years. He was on the Clinton Fire Dept., and the school board for 13 years, along with being past president of the Athletic Booster Club, and a Khoury League Coach. Ron loved woodworking; enjoyed the Illini, St. Louis Cardinals, but mostly he loved his grandchildren and watching their activities.

Thomas F. "Tom" Horsley

Thomas F. “Tom” Horsley 74 of DeWitt, IL passed away 9:17 PM December 2, 2022 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton, IL with Rev. Fr. James Owusu-Yeboah Celebrant. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. Committal services will be 9:30 AM Monday, December 26, 2022 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

Memorials may be directed to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat, McLean, IL, or Lewy Body Dementia Association.

Thomas was born May 2, 1948 in Joliet, IL the son of Russell E. and Dorothy A. (Carter) Horsley. He married his Joliet East High School sweetheart, Nancy Rose Querio July 26, 1968 in Rockdale, IL just before leaving to serve our country in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict and spent one year in Germany with Nancy. During his time in the service, he was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. They currently reside on a 12-acre parcel outside of DeWitt, IL. 

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy A. Horsley, Manhattan, IL; wife, Nancy Rose Horsley, DeWitt, IL; daughter, Michelle R. (Nick Riordan) Horsley, Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Thomas William Toohill, Samuel Edward Toohill, and Abigail Rose Toohill, all of Bloomington, IL; siblings, Debra S. (Gary) Fritz, New Lenox, IL, Russell E. (Kathy) Horsley, Jr., Elwood, IL, Jayne R. (Raymond) VanMeter, Channahon, IL; sister-in-law, Lorraine Horsley, Seneca, IL, brother-in-law, Robert E. (Roberta) Querio, Naples, FL; and sister-in-law, Carolyn M. (Paul) Mastrangeli, Mesa, AZ; along with several nieces and nephews, and  three fur babies, Oscar, Sadie and Sofie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell E. Horsley; his brother, James R. Horsley; father-in-law, Edward J. Querio; and mother-in-law, Rose M. Querio. 

While in the army, his passion for photography, which he had developed in high school, continued as he worked on combat surveillance photographic equipment. After his time in the military, he began his career in computers. One of his bigger career accomplishments was designing the local area network for the city of Chicago.  He was also a certified home inspector and a handyman before his retirement, while they lived in Naperville. 

Tom was a man of many talents. He and Nancy built their current home from the foundation up. His hobbies included woodworking, stained glass work, and photography but his interests are in just about anything and everything. 

He was an entertainer, always having jokes to tell and able to tell great stories. He enjoyed puzzles and games; He and Nancy were a tough team to beat when it comes to Euchre!

Rebecca Sue "Becki" Farris

Rebecca Sue “Becki” Farris, 62, of Clinton, IL passed away at 3:49 PM, December 1, 2022 at the Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton, IL.

A Celebration of Becki’s Life will be 11 AM, Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, Clinton, IL with Pastor John Roberson officiating. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Becki was born February 9, 1960 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Elmer “Squeak” and Dorothy Joan (Cunningham) Taylor, Jr. She married Thomas L. Farris May 12, 1979 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Joan Taylor, Weldon, IL; husband, Thomas L. Farris, Clinton, IL; daughter, Rachel (Patrick) Costello, Clinton, IL; grandson, Mason Costello, Clinton, IL; brother, Steven Douglas (Sheila) Taylor, Fulton, MS; niece, Ashley (Dillon) Barnard, Clinton, IL; and nephew, Joshua (Hannah) Taylor, Winslow, AR.

Becki was preceded in death by her father.

Becki retired as a Sgt. Deputy Sheriff with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Orlando, FL.  She was the owner and co-owner operator of three small businesses in Clinton, throughout the years.  Above all, Becki was a loving mother, wife, daughter, and grandmother.  She had a giving spirit and never met a challenge she couldn’t overcome.  She is loved and will be deeply missed.
