Jerry Allen Davenport 70 of Forsyth, IL passed away 6:54 PM October 29, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 10 A.M. Thursday, November 2, 2017, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Bruce Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

 

Jerry was born March 19, 1947, in Decatur, IL the son of Raymond E. Davenport, Sr. He married Sandy McCool on June 4, 1967, in Forsyth, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife: Sandy Davenport, Forsyth, IL; Children: Nicholas Allen Davenport, Maroa, IL, Matthew Allen (Melissa) Davenport, Maroa, IL; 4 grandchildren: Devvon Davenport, Maxwell Allen Davenport, Evan Creek, and Sophia Morgan Davenport; one brother: Raymond E. (Judy) Davenport, Jr., Pittsfield, IL; several nieces and nephews also survive; and best-friends: Frank and Diane Friend also survive.

 

He was preceded in death by his father; daughter: Melinda Sue Davenport; granddaughter: Morgan Rene' Davenport; brother: Clinton Davenport; sister: Shirley Ann Taylor; aunt: Mildred “Mike” Hance; and step-mother: Betty Davenport.

 

Jerry worked and retired from Caterpillar Inc. He was an Air Force Veteran, volunteer fireman, and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and doing woodcarvings. Jerry loved to go fishing, do oil paintings, and attend his grandchildren’s activities.

Mrs. Cox was born on May 3, 1965, in Decatur, Illinois, to Charlie and Mary H. Hardwick Moxley. She married John Goodlett on June 9, 1984, in Mansfield, Illinois. He passed away on November 25, 2010. She later married and is currently separated from Larry Cox of Mobile, AL.

 

Linda is survived by her parents of Mansfield; two sons, Christopher A. (Lisa) Goodlett of Birmingham, AL and Wesley S. Goodlett of Hopkinsville, KY; one daughter, Stephanie R. Cox of Mansfield; three grandchildren; four brothers, Charles H. (Mary K.) Moxley of Mansfield, Mineous F. (Sabrina) Moxley of Tacoma, WA, Eddie (Anita) Moxley of Rockmart, GA, and Kirby Moxley of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.

 

Linda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #261, Columbus, GA.

Donna J. Whitehouse, 77, of Bloomington, passed away at 2:05 P.M., Monday, October 23, 2017, in Heritage Health, Bloomington.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 27, 2017, at Tri-Valley Baptist Church, Bloomington.  Her funeral will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 28, 2017, also at the church.  Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. in Chandler Cemetery, Chandlerville, IL.  Memorial donations may be made to PATH Crisis Center - TELEPHONE ROOM, 201 E. Donna was born January 6, 1940, in Chandlerville, IL, to George Wade and Marguerite Hohimer Hampton.  She was married to Carl Gazelle and they had one son, Greg.  She later married Donald Whitehouse.

 

Surviving are two sons, Michael (partner, Joseph Tunson) Whitehouse, Los Angeles, CA and Patrick (Jeannie) Whitehouse, New Smyrna Beach, FL; sisters, Ruth (Wiley) Sanders, Adkins, TX and Wadine Mibb, Chandlerville; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bruce (Joyce) Whitehouse; sister-in-law, Donna Mae Morefield; several loving nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Greg Gazelle; husband, Don Whitehouse; and sister, Kae Hunt.

 

Donna retired from State Farm after 30 years of service.  She started with one of the major construction contractors for the State Farm headquarters building.  She then became a secretary for State Farm in 1973, retiring from the Creative Service Department in 2003.  After retirement, she volunteered with PATH Crisis Center.  She served as treasurer for Tri-Valley Baptist Church for many years.  She was a fan of ISU women's basketball, attending games for many years. 

 

Donna was a loving mother; a sister; grandmother; great-grandmother; an aunt; and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.

David was born February 10, 1941, in DeWitt County, IL the son of F. Wilson and Margaret M. (Frantz) Moore. He married Rita A. Brown June 27, 1964, in Clinton, IL. She passed away November 19, 2007.

 

Survivors include his children: Erin L. (Kevin) Cook, Monticello, IL, Mark J. (Angela) Moore, Lubbock, TX; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; siblings: Dan Moore, Clinton, IL, Doris Ann (Arnold) Hawkins-Coffey, Russell Springs, KY, Dorothy Hanna, Mahomet, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: Shawn Patrick Moore and 1 brother: Richard.

 

David served his country proudly in the Navy from 1959 – 1963 aboard the USS Midway as an E4.

 

David had worked for Kolp Servi-Soft and Revere Copper & Brass Inc. in Clinton and retired from Illinois Power in 2003.

Sandra O. Smith 77 of Maroa, IL, a devoted servant of God, passed from this earthly life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 10:52 PM October 26, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Sandra was born February 13, 1940, in Chicago, IL the daughter of Neysa Beckemier. She married Ellis Leroy Smith December 21, 1958, in Cerro Gordo, IL. He passed away on May 25, 1990.

 

Survivors include her children: Janet (Jane Porter) Elliott, Fayetteville, NC; Linda (Mike) Baker, Forsyth, IL, Jeffery Smith, Dalton City, IL, Shelly (James) Fields, Wentzville, MO, Donna (Fiancé: Steven Wood) Smith, Wagoneer, IL; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Daniel Smith, 1 great grandson: David Smith, Jr., and daughter-in-law: Tammy Smith.

 

Sandra retired from Maroa Forsyth School Dist. She was a 50-year member of the Harvest Community Church in Maroa and was a breast cancer survivor.

 

The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Timothy Miller and the Cardiac Staff on the 5th floor at DMH for their loving care during a difficult time.

Ruth was born September 9, 1935, in Clinton, IL the daughter of Harry Troy and Sally Frances (Crutcher) Dubson. She married Richard E. Brown August 6, 1981, in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband: Richard E. Brown, Clinton, IL; children: Wendi Lowe, Clinton, IL; Richard Todd (Julie) Brown, Clinton, IL; Tiffany McLaughlin, Decatur, IL; Billy Jo Riggs, Clinton, IL; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one sister: Patty (Glen) Reynolds, Clinton, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

 

Ruth was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to play Bingo and was a foster parent.

Marilyn Kay Cherry

Marilyn Kay Cherry, 74, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

 

She was born March 5, 1943, in Springfield to Winnie Ackridge Wise.  She married Ed Cherry on June 13, 1963, and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2015.  She is also preceded in death by her mother, her brother Mike Wise, her granddaughter Jill Denise Reynolds, and her brothers in law Orville Bentley, Bob Fuiten, and John Cherry.

 

Marilyn is survived by her five children: Melisa (Mike) Beal of Mechanicsburg, Rebecca (Joseph) Simko of Sherman, Laura (Robb) Hanner of Athens, Scott (Hillary) Cherry of Mt. Pulaski, and Robert (Callie) Cherry of Normal: ten grandchildren: Chris (Kristy) Maus, Mary (Mitchell) Gillett, Brittney (Rory) Taylor, Jessie Maus, Nick Hanner, Nathan Simko, Cason Cherry, Teagan Cherry, Lila Cherry, and Eve Cherry; five great-grandchildren: Lexy, Evelynn, Fallon, Faye, and Adeline; her sisters Jan Bentley and Connie Wise, her brother Larry (Polly) Wise, her sisters in law Linda Wise, Ruth Fuiten and Janet Cherry, and  numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Marilyn graduated from Elkhart High School in 1961 and retired from Corporation Service Company in 2006.  She and Ed lived and farmed in the Cornland area for 42 years, then moved to Elkhart in 1992. She was a member of the Elkhart American Legion Auxiliary.

 

Marilyn was known for being a great cook, creating memorable family holidays, and for being able to host many coffee and tea drinkers at her kitchen table at a moment’s notice. She was usually the quietest person in the room, but she had a great sense of humor and loved her family deeply. She was always there when we needed her.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  We were blessed to have her in our lives, and she will be greatly missed.

 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Elkhart Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. Memorial donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to Ronald McDonald House of Central Illinois. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home of Mt. Pulaski has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Dixie was born July 27, 1937, in Clinton, IL the daughter of Charles A. and Bette (Adams) Anderson. She married Gregory Montgomery March 2, 1957, in Clinton, Il.

 

Survivors include her husband: Gregory Montgomery, Clinton, IL; children: Mark Montgomery,  Bloomington, IL; Sterling (Stephanie) Montgomery, Catlin, IL; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother: Charles “Chick” Anderson, Boise, ID, and sister: Jill Ann Zollman, Evansville, IN.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Dixie retired from Eureka Company in Bloomington, IL. She was the organist at the First Christian Church in Clinton for over 60 years and played for countless weddings and funerals.

 

She loved to crochet and sing in the choir. She was very dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Rose (Edward) Potter of Farmer City, IL; six grandchildren, Jameson Potter; Calen Potter; Benjamin Potter; Sierra Potter; Erika Potter; Alexandra Potter; four sister-in-laws, Shirley Dawson of Oreana, IL; Martha Keeney of Danvers, IL; Carol Hanna of Bloomington, IN; Nancy (Roger) Thorp of Des Moines, IA; several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Trinity Community Fellowship; former member of Fullerton Cumberland Presbyterian Church; member and Past President of Farmer City American Legion Unit 55 Auxiliary and a Past President of the 19th District Auxiliary; member of 40 & 8 Auxiliary; Hobby Club, Farmer City; Shakespeare Club, Farmer City; Red Hat Society, Farmer City; and the DeWitt County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Navarra was born on July 18, 1937, in Tunis, Tunisia to Liborio and Giovanna Mangialomini Navarra. He married Giovanna G. Albanese on August 9, 1962, in Tripoli, Libya. She survives in LeRoy, IL.

 

Also surviving are two daughters, Lidia B. Navarra of LeRoy, IL and Patrizia L. Tegenkamp of Normal, IL; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (LuAnn) Navarra of Morrison, IL; and two sisters, Maria Copley of LeRoy, IL and Rita (Don) Casillo of Moore, OK.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Antonella Navarra, six grandchildren, and one sister, Carla Kellogg.

 

Dino had been a correctional officer at the McLean County Jail and a police officer for the LeRoy Police Department.

 

Dino was a member of St. Mary Church, Downs, IL and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Bloomington, IL.

He passed away March 27, 2000. She later married James E. Pantier October 1, 2005, in Downs, IL. He survives in Springfield, IL.

 

Also surviving are three sons, Edward James (Linda) Donovan of LeRoy, IL, Jerry Richard Donovan of Heyworth, IL and Dennis Eugene (Kimberly) Donovan of Wapella, IL; two daughters, Jo Ann (David) Jones of Sparks, NV and Julia Ann Herpel of Chatham, IL; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles (C. J.) Beeler of Osage Beach, MO, Wallace (Lois) Beeler of Peoria, IL, and William (Sharon) Beeler of McLean, IL; and one sister, Jo Ann Stills of Clearwater, FL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Naomi Ruth (Robert) West, and one step-grandson, Michael Hunley.

 

Dorothy retired from State Farm in 1988 after working 25 years.

 

She was a member of St. Mary Church, Downs, IL; the St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society; the Clinton YMCA; the Carl E. Miller American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 624, Heyworth, IL; The Downs Homemaker Extension; the Downs Senior’s Group; and a past member of the Clinton-DeWitt DAR.

Survivors include his wife: Pat Johnson; children: Tina Marie, Kathleen Dawn, Rebecca Ann, William Earl, Lisa Kae, and Randall Scott; siblings: Deloris Strohkirch, Wanda Jean Elsner; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Raymond and Merle Johnson and 2 sisters: Kay Hulvey and Janice Woodall.

Stephen R. "Skinner" Johnson

Stephen R. “Skinner” Johnson, 64, of Farmer City, IL passed away at 11:25 P.M., Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

Skinner was born on March 5, 1953, in Bloomington, IL, a son of Kenneth Dean and Patricia Ann Fogal Johnson.  He married Mickie Nelson on 27 June 2006.  Skinner is preceded in death by his loving parents.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mickie, of Farmer City, IL; sons, Calvin (Kenna) Johnson of Osman, IL, Clinton Johnson of Farmer City, IL, Toby (Melissa) Johnson of Slidell, LA, and Tucker Johnson of Utica, IL; three stepdaughters, Stefani (Greg) Warsaw of Farmer City, IL; Lora (Julien) Huck of Scottsdale, AZ and Elisha (Nick) Walters of Farmer City, IL; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Doug (Marcia) Johnson of Dora, MO and Greg (Joy) Johnson of Mansfield, IL; one sister, Stacie (Steve) Sutton of Frankfort, KY; dear friend, Sarah McCoy Shoemaker of Decatur, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Skinner worked for John Deere in Farmer City, IL and in Clinton, IL and he loved driving trucks across the prairie for multiple outfits.

 

He graduated from Moore Township High School, Farmer City, IL and attended Joliet Junior College where he played basketball and was nicknamed “Farm”. Skinner was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Farmer City, a member of the Farmer City Masonic Lodge 710, and the National Rifle Association.

 

Steve’s timely wit will be missed.

Gene Bathe

Gene Bathe, 88, of Hartsburg passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

 

Gene was born on October 15, 1929, in Sullivan, IL, the son of Harry and Mabel (Byrom) Bathe Sr. He married Marjorie Lessen on June 28, 1953, in Hartsburg, IL. She survives.

 

Gene is also survived by his children, Norma Bathe of Hartsburg, Michael (Christine) Bathe of Normal, and Nancy (Paul) Kemp of Janesville, WI; his grandchildren, Courtney Bathe, Quinnton Kemp, and Cassidy Kemp.

 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings; Gene was the last member of his immediate family.

 

Gene retired from Lehn & Fink as a shipping clerk after 42 years. Gene worked with the Hartsburg Fire Dept. for 41 years; 16 of which he was the Fire Chief. He was an EMT for 28 years, and the Water Plant Operator for 55 years. He was with the International Chemical Workers Union Local #316 for 42 years, where he was president for 3 years; and recording secretary for 21 years.

 

Additionally, Gene was the President of the Lehn & Fink Credit Union for 10 years. He was Chairman of the Board at Hartsburg Methodist Church and served as the Sunday School Superintendent for 13 years. Gene was on the Board of Logan County Paramedics Association. He was the recipient of The Larry Schroyer Award for Lifetime of Excellence in Emergency Services.

Gene enjoyed sports, especially his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR; Jeff Gordon was his favorite.

 

Services for Gene will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, with Rev. Lisa Goodwin, officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Tom McCurry, Jr., 95, of Lincoln, formerly of Cornland, IL, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Christian Village, Lincoln.

 

Tom was born on December 5, 1921, the son of Thomas and Eva (Scroggins) McCurry Sr.

 

Tom married Eleanora L. Utech in Lincoln, IL in 1944.  She preceded him in death on March 27, 1991.

Tom is survived by his children, Thomas W. McCurry III of Lincoln and Janet M. McCurry of Lincoln; his sister, Annis Morris of AZ; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers.

 

Tom was a farmer; he also enjoyed camping, auctions, and he loved Mardi Gras.

 

 Services for Tom will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service (9:00-11:00 A.M.) on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, also at the funeral home. Following the services burial will be held at Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski. Memorial donations may be made in Tom’s name to The Christian Village.

Emil C. Ramlow, 92, of Beason passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at The Christian Village in Lincoln.

 

Emil was born on April 29, 1925, in Burtonview IL, the son of John H. and Katherine (Stuan) Ramlow. He married Lois J. Wood on September 15, 1946, in Lincoln. She preceded him in death.

Emil is survived by his son, Thomas (Nancy) Ramlow of Beason, IL; his daughter, Gloria Jean (Steve) Schaub of Gibson City; his brother, Virgil Ramlow of Dayton, OH; and a special friend Marie Harris of Springfield. Additionally, Emil is survived by nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

 

Emil was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, five brothers, two sisters, and one great-granddaughter.

 

Emil proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from August 1943 – January 1946. When Emil returned to Lincoln he worked as a supervisor at The Bottle Factory for 36 years; and farmed. Emil also loved to dance, fish, and hunt; but above all else, Emil loved spending time with his family.

 

Services for Emil will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, IL with Rev. Amy Ziettlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Following the services, The Illinois Patriot Guard Riders will escort the funeral procession to New Union Cemetery; where full military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post Number #263. Roger was born September 15, 1938, in Saybrook, Ilinois to Halford and Ethel Savage Lorance. They preceded him in death. He married Janet Marie Waggoner on March 3, 1961, in Saybrook, Illinois. She survives.

 

Also surviving are his two sons, Darrell (Kim Thompson) Lorance and Dale (Marie Delabre) Lorance; two grandchildren, Brandon (Casey) Lorance and Jacob Lorance; one great-grandchild, Amalia Rose Lorance; one brother, Ron (Loretta) Lorance; two sisters, Laverne (Bob) Johnson and Delores Lorance.

 

Roger served in the Marines from 1955-1958. He was a Blacksmith Mentor and belonged to the Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association for over 30 years. He was a loving husband; father; grandfather; great-grandfather; brother, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Brother, and 2 Sisters.

 

Ray was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, Il. He served his country proudly during WW II in the Army. He had retired from the Clinton School District as a bus mechanic. He enjoyed his family and traveling with Betty.

He is also survived by his special friend Betty Gaultney and their dog Sam.

 

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, 1 granddaughter: Kimberly Tuggle Cooley, Siblings, Harrold Tuggle, Mildred Riddle, Margaret Nixon and John Tuggle.

 

Dick was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton, IL. He served in the Navy 1944 – 1947. He and Marjorie farmed many years before retiring and moving to town in 1980. He was President of the Weldon Co-Op Board from 1977 – 1985. He served on the DeWitt County Board of Review, The Clinton School Board and was a member of the DeWitt County Farm Bureau. He was the Secretary of the Elks Club for several years and a longtime member of the Clinton Country Club. Dick enjoyed traveling with the Young At Heart, especially going to plays and traveling to Branson, Mo. He loved eating out with friends and visiting for hours at a time. He always had a jigsaw puzzle in progress. Dick enjoyed life to the fullest every day and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Even though his passing has left a deep hole in our hearts we are comforted by knowing he lived his long life to the fullest.

 

The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital for their loving care during such a difficult time.

Jeffry Lynn McCartney, 73, of Riverton, formerly of Monticello and Rushville, passed away at his home Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was born March 26, 1944 in Monticello, Il to Thomas Nathaniel and Margaret Hendrix McCartney. His wife, Maycell Phyliss Fay, parents, and infant sister Melinda preceded him in death.

 

In high school, Jeffry was a member of the FFA and loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He turned his passion into a career as a conservation officer working for the State of Illinois for 30 years in Schuyler and Piatt County, retiring in 2001. He was very active in the Christian Church in Buffalo, Monticello and Astoria.

 

He will be greatly missed by his children, Douglas B. (Kathy) McCartney of Latham, Amy (Brett) Johnson of Sidney, Andrew McCartney of Ashland, Lindsay (MSgt Dan USAF) Sabraw of Spangdahlem, Germany, and Marcy (John) Loper of Michigan; grandchildren, Christian Johnson, Riley and Logan Loper, Daelen and Annabelle McCartney; brother Noble Thomas McCartney of Pectonicia; sisters, Mary Margaret Duvall of Monticello and Ruth Ann McCartney of Bloomington.

 

His family will greet friends from 10am until the time of the funeral ceremony at 1pm, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL, 62629. Dr. Rich Mc Quinn and Pastor Matthew Thiner will be officiating.

She is survived by her three children, Sandy (Tom) Corcoran, Pontiac; Kathy White, Farmer City; and William Stephens, Decatur; five siblings, Gene Brewer, Crawfordsville, Ind.; Pat McGlaughlin, Crawfordsville, Ind.; Stella VanZile, Madisonville, Tenn.; Della Nuckols, Crawfordsville, Ind.; and Herman Culbertson, Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 28 nieces and nephews,. She was Grandma Barb to many who loved her.

Charles Richard “Rick” Kelly of Marina Del Rey, California, passed away on Friday, September 22, in Marina Del Rey following a brief illness.

 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Beacon Mortuary, Santa Monica, California, is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Rick was born on January 30, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Charles and Wilma Kelly.   He graduated from Clinton Community High School in 1975.  He was a self-employed musician and worked as a watchmaker for various companies for many years.

 

He married Jennifer Payumo on February  5, 2013, in Manila, Philippines.  She survives.

 

He is also survived by one brother Scott (Julie) Kelly of Clinton and one sister Cindy (Jerry) Haile of Paxton,  nieces Stacy (Brandon) Abkemeier of St. Louis and Holly (Kurt) Boehle of Paxton, nephews Stephen (Megan) Haile of Bloomington and Clay Kelly of Edwardsville, two great-nieces and one great-nephew and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Rick had an undying love of music and wrote, recorded,  and performed for numerous years in Dallas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth of Salyersville, Kentucky; two stepsons, Bryan Byrd of LeRoy, Illinois and Brett Byrd of Champaign, Illinois; five step-grandchildren.

 

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother.

 

Patricia was a retired Nurses Aid.

Also surviving are his children, Brenda (Jim) Casino; Mark (Kathy) Gibson of Bloomington, Illinois; Scott (Amy) Gibson of Oswego, Illinois; their mother, Rita Petty Gibson of Normal, Illinois; five grandchildren, Emilee, John and Briana Gibson and Mitchell and Olivia Casino;  three step-children; eight step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren;  one sister, Kay Klockenga of Lincoln, Illinois.

 

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one son, M.L. Gibson.

 

Raised on a farm near Shirley, he attended Ben Funk and Heyworth High School, Leon spent nearly 40 years in the feed business, built one of the first hog confinement operations in McLean County, and then owned and operated Gibson’s Old Bank Inn in LeRoy and Gibson’s Concessions at Dawson Lake with his wife, Judy.  He was a longtime member and past vice president of the LeRoy Country Club and trustee for the Empire Township Fire Protection District.

He was born April 29, 1927 in Champaign, Illinois, the son of James and Pearl (Judy) Ambrose. He married Charlotte Mittendorf on August 18, 1948 at Holy Cross Church, Champaign, Illinois. He is survived by his loving wife and five children: Julie Ambrose, St. Charles; Mary Ambrose, New York, NY; Joseph (Julianne) Ambrose, Mahomet; James (Kathryn) Ambrose, Springfield; and Margaret Ambrose, Peoria. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory R. Ambrose. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Joe enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and was a World War II veteran serving in the Pacific.

 

Joe graduated from University High School, Urbana, Illinois and received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois in 1949, and graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

 

He worked for the FDIC as a federal bank examiner until joining the LeRoy State Bank in 1967 where he served as President and later Chairman of the Board, retiring in 1995.

 

Joe was active in many organizations in LeRoy, including the Crumbaugh Library Board, the LeRoy Boy Scouts, the LeRoy Kiwanis, the LeRoy Chamber of Commerce, and the Red Cross. He was a member and past president of the LeRoy Country Club. He was also a member of the University of Illinois President’s Council, the St. Mary’s Church of Downs and a life member of the Ruel Neal American Legion Post #79.

 

Joe enjoyed playing golf and spending time in Florida. He was an avid reader, particularly of books on American history. He especially enjoyed the company of his family and his friends.

Larry was born May 23, 1940 in Weldon, IL the son of Harold and Lavone (Fleming) Helton. He married Gail Ann Wheeler November 6, 1981 in Weldon, IL.

Larry was a building contractor for over 45 years. He was member of the Weldon Fire Department for over 40 years; Weldon Lions Club for over 40 years; Friends Creek Township Drainage Commissioner for over 25 years; and the Nixon Township Road Commissioner for over 39 years. He had been a past mayor of Weldon. He was instrumental in the designing and building of the Weldon Library. Larry’s entire life was dedicated to making Weldon a better community.

 

Larry enjoyed fishing and camping at the Taylorville Lake.

Jeffrey Eugene Morfey, 55, of Mansfield, IL passed away October 3, 2017.

 

His funeral will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Mansfield, IL with Pastor Ed Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Friday, October 6, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, IL with Military Rites Accorded. A meal will be provided immediately following the graveside service at the Fire House in Mansfield, IL.

 

Jeff was born January 21, 1962 in Champaign, IL, a son of Harold ?Arp” and Gloria Babb Morfey. They survive in Mansfield, IL.

 

Jeff is survived by his children, Lydia (Codey) Morfey of Urbana, IL and Jacob (Morgan) Morfey of Fort Eustis, VA; grandchildren, Luca, Taylor and Jax; siblings, Bob (Monee) Morfey of Oakland, IL; Todd (Michelle) Morfey of Mahomet, IL; Chad (Kristin) Morfey of Atwood, IL; Tish (Nate) Evans of Mahomet, IL; special friend, Deana Quinn of Farmer City, IL; and his dog, Dulce who was his best friend.

Jeff served in the Air Force from 1984-1988. He was a long time employee of Home Depot. He enjoyed antiquing, landscaping, watching the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR.

 

Jeff could put a smile on anyone’s face. He was Happy Go Lucky and selfless in so many ways.

Robert L. Prunty

Robert L. Prunty, 89, of Lincoln passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at The Christian Village in Lincoln.

 

Robert was born on April 3, 1928 in Lincoln IL, the son of Floyd and Mary (Lee) Prunty. He married Virginia Rachel Williamson on April 16, 1950 in Lincoln. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2014.

 

Robert is survived by his son, Thomas (Michelle) Prunty of Aurora, IL; two grandchildren, Thomas Paul Prunty Jr. and Sarah Rose Prunty. Additionally, Robert is survived by Fran Wilson of Lincoln and Patricia Czajkowski of Las Vegas, NV, who were both extended and crucial members of the Prunty Family.

 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Jerry; his sisters, Marilyn and June.

 

Robert proudly served his county in the U.S. Army from June 1951 – September 1953 as a Mess Sergeant and a Barber. When Robert returned to Lincoln he worked as a barber; and later opened Prunty Barber Shop where in 2013 they celebrated 50 years of business. Robert enjoyed playing tennis at the Lincoln Recreation Center. Additionally, Robert loved going on Caribbean cruises with his wife, Virginia.

 

A Memorial Service will be held for Robert at 11:00A.M. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at The First United Methodist Church in Lincoln with Pastor Michael Paulson officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from (9:30-11:00A.M.). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Robert’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association. Services have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Donald "Donnie" Wheeler, Jr.

Donald "Donnie” Wheeler, Jr. of Lincoln passed away on September 29, 2017 at 10:13 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

 

Donnie was born on January 23, 1975, the son of Donald Wayne and Helen (Weber) Wheeler. He married Tiffany Martinie on February 6, 2014 in Lincoln, IL. She survives him.

 

Also surviving Donnie is his mother: Helen Young; daughters: Bailey, Cydnee, and Kyra; one step daughter: Patience Pedigo; his siblings: Chris Nichols, Amber Nichols, Stacy Wheeler, and Joey Metelko. He was preceded in death by his father.

 

Donnie worked at Eaton Corporation for 15 years and was a member of Anytime Fitness in Lincoln, IL.

 

Cremation rites for Donnie will be accorded. There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Donnie’s name to his wife: Tiffany Wheeler. Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL.

Daniel "Danny" L. Rich, 42, of Waynesville, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Rich will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Waynesville Christian Church with Mr. Dave Taylor officiating.

 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the Waynesville Christian Church.

 

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Waynesville.

 

Daniel Lee Rich was born January 14, 1975, in Bloomington, the son of Steven Dennis and Jacqueline Huth Rich. He was united in marriage with Tammi Spencer on May 14, 2016. She survives.

 

Also surviving are his parents; his grandfather, Loren Huth; three children: Caitlyn Rich, Dalton Spencer, and Sydney Funk; and two sisters: Jenny (Scott) Darnall and Jamie (Chad) Cummings.

 

He was preceded in death by grandparents Virginia Huth, and Charles and Mary Rich.

 

Danny attended Olympia High School. He was employed at Cummins in Normal as a Diesel Technician.

 

Danny was very talented and loved to customize everything he owned. He was a perfectionist. He enjoyed Nascar racing and loved to spend time with his family and friends.

 

Memorials may be made to the Waynesville Fire Department or the Waynesville American Legion.

 

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.

Services will be 10 AM, Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Illinois with Rev. Laurie Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7 PM.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Kenney Heritage Association or the DeWitt Co. 4-H Foundation.

 

Duane was born December 24, 1935 in Kenney, IL the son of Hershel and Irene (Shyer) Aughenbaugh. He married Betty L. Smith February 25, 1955 in Decatur, IL

 

Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Aughenbaugh, Clinton, IL; children: Steve (Sarah) Aughenbaugh, Lincoln, IL and Tom (Karen) Aughenbaugh, Clinton, IL; six grandchildren: Laura (Kyle) Frick, Evan Aughenbaugh, Gregory Aughenbaugh, Ethan Aughenbaugh and Cami and Cari Aughenbaugh.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale Aughenbaugh; and one sister, Marjorie Schoby.

 

Duane farmed in Macon and DeWitt Counties and was a Crop Adjusting Supervisor for North Central Crop Ins. Co. He was a member of several Masonic bodies including a Lifetime Member of DeWitt Lodge #84 AF & AM; Clinton Commandery Chapter #66, Clinton Council #74, Scottish Rite Valley of Bloomington, Goodbreak Chapter #59 Presiding Officer, Past Officer and Past Master of Henderson Lodge #820 and Secretary for over 50 years, a Knight York Cross of Honor, Past Patron Order of the Easter Star, the oldest living Past Commander of Clinton Commandery #66, and Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Illinois. Duane was also a member of the Farmers’ Grain Board of Directors of Chestnut and Kenney, the Prairie Production Credit Assoc. Board of Directors and the 

DeWitt Co. Genealogical Society.

 

The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Clara’s Manor and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for their excellent care during Duane’s illness.

Annabell was born on February 20, 1926 in Omega, IL., a daughter of Thomas and Elsa Smith Arnold. She married Vernon “Cleo” Perry. He passed away on April 13, 1996. Surviving children include; Nancy (Danny) Haynes of Clinton, IL. and Jeff Perry of Herrick, IL. Surviving grandchildren are; Chad Haynes, Kym Whitted, Johnny Perry, Angela Thoren, Jason Perry, Amanda Alsop, Jay Haynes, James Perry, Micheal Perry, and Joseph Perry, as well as 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sons; Arnold Buff, Carl Perry, Merle Perry and Roy Perry, as well as a great-grandson; Christopher Perry, 8 brothers and a sister.

 

Annabell was a member of the First Christian Church of Bement, the Clinton United Methodist Church. She loved to read and spend time with her family.

Pauline S. Rau, 92, of Warrensburg passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

 

Pauline was born on August 14, 1925 in Mt. Pulaski, IL the daughter of Hugh F. and Nina (Dobbs) Stiles. She was a member of Warrensburg Unite Methodist Church and the women's group. She enjoyed quilting, hand weaving rag rugs, sewing, and cooking. She married William E. Rau on August 20, 1944 in Latham. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2008.

 

Surviving are her son, David L. Rau (Jan) of Jackson, MO; daughter, Christina Robinson of Warrensburg; brothers, Dan Stiles of Decatur; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Mark W. Rau; brother, Hugh F. Stiles Jr., and 3 sisters, Hazel Bender, Mary Gribbins, and Pat Roure.
