Barbara Swearingen

Barbara J. Swearingen, 89, of Atlanta, died 11:32 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Castle Manor in Lincoln. 


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Christian Church and 1 hour before the funeral. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Atlanta Christian Church. Mr. Maurice Stribling will officiate. Burial will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery. 


Barbara J. Frantz was born September 28, 1932, in Atlanta, the daughter of Marion Clifford and Jennie Brandt Frantz. She was united in marriage to Harold R. “Hal” Swearingen on June 25, 1950, at Atlanta Christian Church. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2001. 


Barbara is survived by her children: John H. (Susan) Swearingen of Atlanta, Laura J. VanHoorn of Atlanta, and Lisa J. Polley of Bloomington; five grandchildren: Josh (Beth Ann) Polley, Melissa Polley, Bryan (Elizabeth) VanHoorn, Christina (J.W.) Dunnan, and Katie (Jason) Faulk; eight great-grandchildren: Stella and Reed Polley, Delainey and James Dunnan; Audra and Ellie Faulk; and Abigail and Norah VanHoorn. 


She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law: Randy VanHoorn and Robert O. Polley II; one great-granddaughter, Halle Joy Polley; two brothers: Welby M. Frantz, Weldon “Pete” Frantz; and one sister, Margaret Moore. 


Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Atlanta High School. She was an active lifelong member of the Atlanta Christian Church, Red Hat Country Chix, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Atlanta Jr. Women’s Club. She retired from Country Mutual Insurance Company in 1997 after 30 years of employment. Barbara was also a long-time election judge for Logan County. 


Memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad, Atlanta Christian Church, or Castle Manor Activity Fund. 


Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home. 

Wendall D. Ritchie

 Wendall D. Ritchie, 89 of Clinton, IL, passed away 12:40 PM May 21, 2022 at The Loft of Decatur, IL.

 

Private services will be held Thursday May 26, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Zach Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, IL with military honors.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

 

Wendall was born February 28, 1933 in McLean County, IL the son of Alden Valentine and Lucille (Plank) Ritchie. He married Evalena Pool August 9, 1957 in Chenoa, IL.  Wendall later married Marjory Sue Glenn in 1982. She passed away July 24, 1999.

 

Survivors include his children, Pam Landstrom, Clinton, IL; Brian (Joanne) Ritchie, Heyworth, IL; Stacy (Pat) Sheridan, Normal, IL; and Dan (Melissa) Ritchie, Cary, IL, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gail Ritchie; sister, Norma Baker; and great-grandson, Joshua Brandt.

 

Wendall was a veteran serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 as well as a member of the Clinton VFW.  He worked as a tool and die maker at Revere Copper & Brass and later at Olin Mills in Bloomington, IL.  He enjoyed shuffleboard, bicycling, walking, camping, and was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.

Raymond Albert Rogers

 Raymond Albert Rogers, 93, of Clinton, IL passed away at 10:15 AM, May 19, 2022 at St. Clara’s, Lincoln, IL.

 

No services are planned at this time.  The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

 

Raymond was born August 1, 1928 in Edwardsville, PA the son of John Leo and Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Rogers, Sr.  He married Connie Lou Fortner February 14, 1950 in Clinton, IL  she passed away February 27, 2022.

 

Survivors include his children, Ricky Allen Rogers, Taylorville, IL; Cathy Sue Downs, Clinton, IL; and Cris Lynn (Loretta) Rogers, Clinton, IL, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John L. Rogers, Jr.

 

Raymond was a U.S. Air Force veteran where he served as a navigator and a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL.  He was retired from Revere Copper & Brass where he worked as a tool and die maker.  Raymond was a member of the Clinton Kiwanis and a retired I.H.S.A. official.

Tina Renee Beals

 Tina Reneé Beals, 47 of Maroa, IL passed peacefully with family holding her at 10:29 PM May 24, 2022 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 12:00 PM Friday June 3, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. Visitation will be 10AM – 12PM Friday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to Kerby Strong which goes to Decatur Cancer Care to help cancer patients with travel expenses.

 

Tina was born November 7, 1974 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Roy Robinson and Debra Bland.

 

Tina leaves behind her husband of 14 years, Tim Beals, Maroa, IL; mother, Debra (Steve) Bland, Clinton, IL;  sister, Vanessa Coffey and niece Willa Malcolm, IA; father, Roy (Joyce) Robinson, Arcola, IL; sister, Alyana Robinson, Arcola, IL; brothers, Matt Robinson, GA, and Jason Robinson, LA; and grandmother, Lottie King, Windsor, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her baby daughter Alyssa. May they have a joyous reunion in Heaven.

 

She attended Decatur Public School and Argenta-Oreana High School. Tina had a kind heart and was always ready to help someone whenever needed. She loved spending time with her family along with children of friends and neighbors. Tina will be missed by her family and many friends. Her laugh and smile will never be forgotten.

 

These past 5 years Tina fought hard and survived Acute Myeloid Leukemia and blood clots in her lungs, but she could not survive a UTI causing Septic Shock.

 

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and Decatur Memorial Health and the numerous friends and family for all their support and prayers. 

Robert White

Robert L. White, 89, of Emden, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 19, 2022. 

 

Funeral Services for Mr. White will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home. Mr. Tony Billingsley will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln. 

 

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral. 

 

Robert Leroy White was born December 13, 1932, in Cantrell, Ill., the son of John H. and Lorena McRoberts White. He was united in marriage to Barbara Mae Lovin. 

 

He is survived by his children: Gary White, Karen S. (Larry) Vannoy, Charles G. (Carla S.) White, Jeannie Nolan, and Robert L. (Lorie) White; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Earl (Sue) White, Jim (Sue) White, and Wayne (Sue) White. 

 

Robert was preceded in death by three sisters: Virginia Agnew, Barbara Wilkinson, and Mary Witham; and one brother: John A. White. 

 

Robert served in the United States Army. He had worked at Waskey Bridges in Baton Rouge, LA. His hobbies were fishing and working on different projects. 

 

Memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care in Bloomington.

Arline Cobb

Arline V. Cobb, 95, of Weldon, IL passed away at 12:30 AM, May 12, 2022 at Heritage Manor, Mt. Zion, IL.

 

Services will be Monday May 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Clinton Assembly of God Church with Pastor Nick Blacklidge officiating.  Burial will follow at Baptist Cemetery, Kenney, IL.  Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM Monday at the church.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to Clinton Assembly of God Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Weldon Public Library.

 

Arline was born February 6, 1927 in Grant Park, IL the daughter of John Nelson and Emma (Fischer) Rasmussen.  She married Alvin “Steve” O. Cobb November 10, 1945 in Clinton, IL.  He passed away April 25, 2003.

 

Survivors include her nieces and nephews Diane (Arthur) Shulte, Sherman, IL, Dale (Tina) Rasmussen, Freeport, IL, Mark (Betsy) Rasmussen, Oceanside, CA, and Karen (Tim) Noyes, Findley, OH; eight great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nieces and nephews; and her “spiritual daughter” Barb Spencer.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters.

 

Arline was a member of the Clinton Assembly of God Church for several years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, especially the bible, which she would read every day.

Timmothy Holt

Timmothy (Timm) Holt 73, of Chicago, IL passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2022 from heart failure. 

 

Timm was a physician, entrepreneur, novelist, poet, playwright, activist, globetrotter, deacon, and father.  

 

Timm attended Illinois Wesleyan University where he earned his bachelors in Sociology, followed by receiving his Masters of Policy Administration at Roosevelt University, and then a doctorate from Loyola University School of Medicine. 

 

Timm is survived by his two children Jennifer and Jeremiah (Allison O’Brien) Holt, his sister Mary Ellen Torbert, his partner Dan Kuras, his friend and mother of his children Nancy Lewis, his nieces Kimberlee (Jeff) Toohill and Tara (Paul) Wanserski, and great nephew and niece Parker Toohill and Natalee Wanserski. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Mildred Holt, brother-in-law Jerry Torbert, great nephew Spencer Toohill, and partner Bill Munch. 

 

Timm’s funeral service will be held at St. James Cathedral at 65 E. Huron St. in Chicago on Saturday May 14th at 11:00 am with a festive reception immediately following at the cathedral. St. James Cathedral follows the Covid protocols of the City of Chicago, which at this writing is mask-optional for indoor spaces. The service will be live-streamed for those who cannot join in person via the St. James Streaming page at www.saintjamescathedral.org/stream-our-services.

Lois E. Pasley

 Lois E. Pasley, 92 of Decatur, IL passed away 10:45 AM May 7, 2022 at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 11 am, Friday, May 13, 2022 at Bellflower Township Cemetery, Bellflower, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association or the Economy Shop of Decatur, IL.

 

Lois was born November 6, 1929 in Farmer City, IL the daughter of Chester G. and Nina (Dennison) Johnson. She married Fred G. Smith, Jr. July 12, 1948, he passed in 1971. She later married James B. Pasley September 27, 1974, he passed away in 1989.

 

Survivors include her sons, Mark L. Smith of Mountain Home, AR and Phillip V. Smith of Clinton, IL, along with 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Lois was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Decatur and the Clinton YMCA where she enjoyed water aerobics. She also enjoyed reading, lighthouses and helped a lot at the Economy Shop. After 10 years, she retired from the Macon County Eye Center.

Anna Mae Spencer

 Anna Mae Spencer, 87, of DeWitt, IL passed away at 10:05 AM, May 1, 2022 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL..

 

Private Graveside Services will be Monday, May 9, 2022 Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Scott Marsh officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to a church or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.

 

Anna Mae was born January 28, 1935 in Kenney, IL the daughter of Mervin Dean and Blanche Marie (Mills) Fort.  She married Jesse Lee Spencer January 4, 1952 in Kenney IL.  He passed away January 13, 2005.

 

Survivors include her children, Terry (Connie) Spencer, DeWitt, IL; Jeff (Kim) Spencer, Clinton, IL; and Marti (Steve) Schultz, Normal, IL; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ivan E. (Ruthanne) Fort, Clinton, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings:  William Fort, Keith Fort, Joyce Punke, and Freida Weber.

 

Anna Mae and Jesse Lee made their home in rural DeWitt where they farmed until his passing.  Anna Mae enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and quilting.
