Margaret L. Guimond

 Margaret L. Guimond, 74 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:25 PM March 25, 2021 Clinton, IL.

 

Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Friday, April 2, 2021 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

Margaret was born September 24, 1946 in Pawtucket, RI the daughter of Louis and Helen (Mullen) Large..

 

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Mark) Tippet, Clinton, IL; grandchildren, Tyler (Shellie), Samantha, Jenna, Jeremy, Alex, Katerina, Josiah, Seraphina, Zechariah, Zane and Eliana; great grandchildren, Connor and Greyson.

 

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 grandson, Taylor Christian Tippet.

 

Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church, Clinton, IL and had worked for Crest in Lincoln, RI for many years. She had raised and shown horses for most of her life. She loved her pets, boating, and the ocean, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Maurice W. Day

 Maurice W. Day 84 of Maroa, IL passed away 5:01 A.M. March 26, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 10 AM, Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Mary Alice Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the funeral home.

 

Maurice was born July 12, 1936 in Creek Twp., DeWitt Co., IL the son of Burl C. and Gladys (Ballance) Day. He married Nancy B. Florey July 28, 1956 in Clinton, IL. His sweetheart, Nancy, passed away February 18, 2017.

 

Survivors include his sons, Michael (Kim) Day, Decatur, IL and Les (Jenny) Day, Maroa, IL; daughter, Pamela (John) Vogel, Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Andrea Cullison, Stephanie Kiley, Heather Hodges and Melanie Casner; seven great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren: siblings:  Carol (Lonnie) Schove, Normal, IL; Esther Crotchett, Springfield, IL; and Margaret Grissom, Maroa, IL.

 

Maurice was preceded in death by his son, Melvin Day, parents, two brothers, and one sister.

 

Maurice worked and retired from Caterpillar Tractor as a Master Adjuster after 37 years of service. He will be missed by his family, friends, and neighbors

Douglas Hopper

Douglas R. Hopper, 58 of Clinton, IL passed away 9:04 PM March 12, 2021 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 11 AM Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

 

Memorials may be directed to Douglas R. Hopper Memorial Fund.

 

Douglas was born November 23, 1962 in Clinton, IL the son of Bill and Erma (Followell) Hopper, Sr.

 

Survivors include his mother, Erma Hopper; daughter, Kristen Hopper Ryman and her children, Carson (Michaela) Alexander and his daughter, Payton; Macy Alexander; Aiden Alexander; daughter, Britany Hopper and her son, Reed; brother, Billy Hopper; sister, Lee Ann Price.

 

He was preceded in death by his father.

 

Douglas was a superintendent for ADM and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Clinton, IL.

Edna Mae Seaton

Edna Mae Seaton, age 95, of Clinton, Illinois passed away  March 10, 2021, at Liberty Village, Clinton, IL.

 

Born June 21, 1925 in Clinton, IL, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Pharis) Kirby.

 

Edna was raised in Kenney and graduated from Kenney High School.  She married Ellis Ross Seaton in 1943.  They lived in Clinton and were married for 65 years.  She was a member of First Christian Church of Clinton, and retired from Country Companies in Bloomington, IL as head of central records.  Edna enjoyed traveling and square dancing with her husband.

 

Edna was preceded in death by her parents and husband and son-in-law, James Wilson.  She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Wilson of Decatur, granddaughter Jennifer (Dan) McClelland of Danville, KY, and great-grandson Ryan McClelland (fiancée Kandace Hodge) of Danville, KY.

 

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM, Monday, March 15, 2021 at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Pastor Glenn Baker officiating.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Judith Larson

Judith Lynn (Hagebush) Larson, 82 of Clinton, IL formerly of Decatur, IL passed away at 10:48 AM March 9, 2021 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Allison Hitchings and Bishop Mark Du Bois officiating. Graveside services will be 1 PM Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery, Newton, IL.  The family requests the wearing of face masks at services.

 

Memorials may be directed to the St. John’s Episcopal Church, Decatur, IL or Encore Developmental Services, Clinton, IL.

 

Judith was born August 1, 1938 in Tuscola, IL the daughter of Willard Lister and Marilynn (Isley) Hagebush. She married David Larson in 1960 in Macon County, IL. She later married Donald Williams in 1968 in Cook County, IL.

 

Survivors include her children, Chris (Ellen) Larson, San Marcos, CA; Tim (Debbie) Larson, Savoy, IL; Rachel Emery, Clinton, IL; and Nanette Larson, Peoria, IL, six grandchildren, Hannah Emery; Michaela (Devane) Amala; Jason (McKenna) Kitson; Sarah Emery; Levi Kitson; Naomi Emery, and one great granddaughter, Adeline Amala.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Judith was a 1960 Summa Cum Laude Graduate of Millikin University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.  She was also a lifelong member St. John’s Episcopal Church in Decatur.

Dwaine Miller

 Dwaine Miller, 88 of Clinton, IL passed away 4:21 AM March 9, 2021 at his family home in Clinton, IL.

Berneda Daniels

 It is with deep sadness for those left behind, but great joy for our loved one, to let you know that our precious mom, grandma, sister, and friend, Berneda E. “Bugg” (McDonald) Daniels, 94, moved to her eternal home on March 7, 2021.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Monday, March 15, 2021 at The First Church of the Nazarene, Clinton, IL with Dr. Michael Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow in Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL.   Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the church.  During the pandemic, family asks that you please wear a mask.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Berneda McDonald was born July 27, 1926 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Bill K. and Ethel S. (Kirby) McDonald.  She married Tony E. Daniels, Jr. on February 3, 1951 in Clinton, IL.  He passed away March 12, 2006.

 

Survivors include three daughters:  Debra (Roger) Dwinell, Canyon Country, CA; Karren Osborne, Clinton, IL; and Shelley (Jerry) Danison, Clinton, IL; 1 step-son,  James (Kim) Daniels, Tunas, MO; grandchildren:  Ryan (Kacy) Osborne, Weldon, IL; Jim (Sandy) Daniels, Ft. Collins, CO; and Bob (Kathy) Daniels, LaPorte, CO; great-grandchildren, Radley and Maverik Osborne, Mariah Daniels, Tony Daniels, and Tyler Daniels; and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Lila Page, Watertown, SD; and brother, Dean McDonald, Washington, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Berneda was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Kristina K. Osborne; great-granddaughter, Savannah Daniels; sisters, Hester Prunty and Eloise Thoms; and brother, Duard McDonald.

 

After graduation from Clinton High School, Berneda worked in civil service at Great Lakes Naval Academy in Chicago, IL.  She returned to Clinton and worked at the defense plant in Clinton, followed by employment as a telephone operator for General Telephone.  After the modifications at GTE where telephone operators were no longer needed, she became employed at General Electric in Bloomington, retiring after 25 years of service.

 

Berneda was a second-generation Nazarene having started attending the First Church of the Nazarene in Clinton at 6 months of age in January 1927.  Over the years, she enjoyed working in a number of roles and on several committees, including Women’s Ministries, Vacation Bible Schools, Hospitality (planning meals for sick and shut-ins and for funeral dinners), and the Prayer Quilt Ministry.  Her church family was very important to her.

 

She also enjoyed meeting her dear friends at the Friendship Center, the bank, a restaurant, or in homes for a hearty game or two of pinochle.  She enjoyed traveling and was able to almost fulfill a “bucket list” item of visiting all 50 states, having visited 41.  She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and embroidery.

 

She loved the Lord and truly enjoyed serving Him, as well as spending precious moments with her family.   She was proud to be a Christian and an American.  Our memory of her will be treasured forever.  She will be greatly missed.

Marc Mathias

 Marc Alan Mathias 47 of Kenney, IL passed away at 5:20 PM March 3, 2021 in Atlanta, Il.

 

Services will be 10 AM, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Waynesville Christian Church, Waynesville, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Waynesville Christian Church. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Waynesville American Legion, the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer (V.org/donate), or a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Marc was born April 21, 1973 in Normal, IL to Mike and Joyce (Miller) Mathias, Kenney, IL, they survive.  He is also survived by his significant other, Chris McKown, Atlanta, and her sons, Cody, Will, Emmett, Tommy, and Van; his children, Justin (Anna) Mathias, Ashland City, TN; and Alexis (Cory) Combs, Clarksville, TN; sisters, Amy (Matt) Austin, Frankfort; and Alysha (Trent) Seggelke, Bloomington; his special auntie, Janice Miller, Normal; one niece and five nephews; the love of his life, granddaughter, Emerson Lynn Combs, 14 months, Clarksville, TN; and his beloved “show dog”, Jake.

 

Marc was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maurice and Marcie Mathias and Robert and Lucille Miller; aunt, Kathy Clifton and uncles John Clifton and David Miller.

 

At the age of 20, Marc acquired his CDL and began his career of trucking, working for several companies before purchasing his own truck hauling grain, seed, and limestone until 2012.  At the death of his grandfather, he gave up trucking for his dream job of farming full time with his dad.  This dream began during his years at Clinton High School and his involvement with FFA (Future Farmers of America), where in his senior year, he was president of the Clinton chapter.

 

Marc was a Waynesville resident from 1992 until 2016 when he moved to Kenney to live on the family homestead.  He was a past member of the Waynesville Village Board and Fire Department and enjoyed helping with the activities of Waynesville and the American Legion.  In earlier years, his hobbies included boating in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.  You could often find Marc watching NASCAR races, hanging with friends, or traveling with Chris.  The past year, his greatest joy was the role of “Paw Paw” watching his granddaughter, Emerson, as she grew.

 

He had a willing hand for anyone in need of help.  Everyone who knew Marc commented that he was the nicest guy and they were better for having known him. 

 

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

 

The family would like to give special recognition to his partner, Chris, for all the love, care, and support she gave him through his 6 ½ year cancer journey.

Mary Shaw

Mary E. Shaw 74 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:17 A.M. February 12, 2021 at Manor Court, Clinton, Il.

 

Private graveside services will be at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, Il with Pastor John Roberson officiating. There will be no visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born March 7, 1946 in Pearson Station, IL the daughter of Clint and Ruby (Walters) Hensley. She married Ray Jerry Shaw April 23, 1966 in Maroa, Il. He passed away September 19, 1992.

 

Survivors include her Son, Jerry Lee (Karen) Shaw, Kenney, Il.; 2 Granddaughters, Jera and Kendra Shaw, Kenney, IL; Sister, Barbara Stone, Clinton, Il..

 

Mary was preceded in death by her Parents, 1 Brother, 4 Sisters.

 

Mary loved to do crafts and adored her cats, especially her cat Sherbie.

Raymond M. Armstrong

Raymond M. Armstrong, 76, of Atlanta, passed away on February 27, 2021, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. 

 

Funeral services for Mr. Armstrong will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta.. Mr. Maurice Stribling will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Atlanta Cemetery. 

 

Raymond Michael Armstrong was born July 24, 1944, in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, the son of George R. and Sandy M. Gabriel Armstrong. He was united in marriage to Christy R. Haberland in Lincoln, on November 13, 1981. She survives. 

 

Ray is also survived by his children: Kasaundra (Lav) Grbav of Las Vegas, Nev., Kimberly Danielson, of McLean, Raymond M. "Ray Ray" Armstrong, Jr. of California, Michael A. Armstrong of McKinney, Tex., and Stephen Brogie, six grandchildren: Anthony Schettler, Brittany Grbav, Marissa Armstrong, Colin Armstrong, Corvin Danielson, and Jase Danielson; one brother, Robert Armstrong of Springfield, and one sister, Debbie Armstrong of Atlanta. 

 

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Arthur Armstrong and Roger Armstrong; one grandson, Jonathan Danielson, and one granddaughter, Sara Grbav. 

 

Ray served in the United States Air Force. He worked at Lincoln Development Center for over a decade. He then worked at Big R in Lincoln, which is where he retired from. He was a member of the Living Water Church in Springfield. 

 

Memorials may be made to the family in care of Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home. 

Max E. Porter, Jr

 Max E. Porter, Jr. 52 of Weldon, IL passed away 7:40 PM February 27, 2021 at his family home in Weldon, IL.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL assisted the family with cremation rites.

Max was born June 1, 1968 in Normal, IL the son of Max E. and Shirley E. Porter, Sr. He married Stephanie L. Ball on July 4, 1995 in Chenoa, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie L. Porter, Weldon, IL; children:  Jonathon S. (Lindsey) Porter, El Paso, IL; Justin L. (fiancée, Elizabeth Bown) Porter, Eureka, IL; Joshua B. (Kristina) Porter, Minonk, IL; Siara E. Porter, Weldon, IL; and Max E. Porter, III, Weldon, IL; grandchildren:  Chase, Mason, Aubree, Alexis, Lawny, Avry, Mallekai, Tay’n, Jerrex, Crimson, and Penelope; siblings:  David (Christine) Porter, Byron, IL; Diane Porter, Bloomington, IL; Douglas (Sandy) Porter, Towanda, IL; and Debra Schultz, Bloomington, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Jesse Porter and Shane Porter.

 

Max enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Timothy J. Sexton

 Timothy J. Sexton, 73 of Clinton, IL passed away 11:42 PM February 16, 2021 at his family home in Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Crum Cemetery, Wapella, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM at the funeral home.

Timothy was born December 24, 1947 in Taylorville, IL the son of Estel Hart and Helen M. (Jones) Sexton. He married Judith Lynn Hutmacher January 27, 1973 in Streator, IL. She passed away August 4, 2019.

 

Survivors include his children, Matt Sexton, Clinton, IL; Chad Sexton, Wapella, IL; and Michelle Sexton; granddaughter, Halen Ann Marie Sexton, Clinton, IL; siblings, Toni (Joe) Hayes, Herrin, IL and Maryanne (Bob) Bauer, Brazil, IN.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald, George, Teddy, and Terry Sexton, and half-brothers, David and Mike Bennett.

 

Timothy was a graduate of Taylorville High School and retired after 42 years with IBEW.  He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and walking his dog at Weldon Springs.
