Loren Keith Wiseman, formerly of Heyworth, IL, passed away at his home in Austin, Texas on Tues., Feb. 14, 2017.
Loren was born on March 7, 1951 in Bloomington, IL, the son of Clifford and Mildred (Correll) Wiseman. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Illinois State University in 1973. He was a game designer and editor of role-playing, battle simulation, and Sci Fi games. He and three colleagues founded the Game Designers' Workshop in Normal, IL in 1974 and after its closing he went to Austin, Texas to work with Steve Jackson Games. He was well-known in the gaming industry, often being sought out to be a guest at conventions in the USA and in Europe.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert C. (Naomi) Wiseman of Lake Wales, FL. He is survived by a sister, Linda G. of Springfield, IL and brothers, Donald C. (Diane) of Mt. Holly, NC, Roger M.(Linda) of Roanoke, IL, John C. of Springfield, IL, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Loren was given the Origins Award for Best Role-Playing Adventure for his game Twilight: 2000 Going Home. He was inducted into the Origins Hall of Fame in 2003.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm on Sat. April 8, 2017, until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 pm at The United Methodist Church, East Main Street, in Heyworth, IL with The Rev. Linda Vonck officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Township Cemetery north of Heyworth.



WELDON – A memorial service for Lesa K. Dillon, 61, of Weldon, will be at 6 p.m. Sunday (March 19, 2017) at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Craig Brock officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 4 p.m.
Phyllis A. “Pat” Hickey, 84, passed away at her home in Lincoln at 9:18 a.m. on March 16, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her brothers, Sheldon, David and Ted Nixon, and sister, Helen Baker. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Margaret Brewer; and nephew, Doug Brewer.
