Patricia Smith

 Patricia Mae Smith, or “Pidge” as she was known to her family and close friends, was born on October 30, 1946 in Clinton, IL to Paul Franklin Zimmerman and Ida Mae (Figg) Zimmerman.  She passed away on March 25, 2020 in the home that she grew up in.

 

Pat was the proud mother of three children:  Joseph Spencer (Amy) Smith, Clinton; Angela Nicole (Nikki) Smith; and Bryanna Jo Ross (Timothy Rosten) Zimmerman, Bloomington, IL.  She was also the proud and loving grandmother to two beautiful granddaughters:  Lauren Nicole Smith and Emily Marie Smith, both of Clinton.  She had one brother, Paul Franklin (Nancy) Zimmerman, Jr., Buhl, Idaho, and one sister, Dolly Ross (Norman) Lauria, Bay City, MI, plus nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who were very dear to her.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Nikki.

 

Pat was a woman of many talents and never met a craft she couldn’t conquer.  In recent years, she greatly enjoyed selling her homemade items at the Clinton Area Farmers and Artisans Market.  Everyone there became like a second family.  Pat also enjoyed reading, sudoku and word puzzles, watching TV and movies, and spending time with her family and pets.

 

For several years, Pat volunteered at the Clinton elementary schools through the Foster Grandparents program.  She was proud of the work she did there and loved the teachers and students who came to know her as “Grandma Pat” or “G.P.”

 

She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

Dolores Ludlam

Dolores J. Ludlam, 90, of Atlanta passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at OSF. St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

 

Private Graveside services will be held at the Atlanta Cemetery with Mr. Dave Harmon officiating.

 

A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.

 

Dolores Jene Ludlam was born on December 25, 1929 in Middletown,  the daughter of Ancle Albert and Ella Gladys Boyer Frakes. She was united in marriage to Leonard  C. Ludlam on January 11, 1970. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1980.

 

She is survived by her son Dana (Penny) Carter, Stepchildren: Marsha (Paul) Hindman, Shelly (John Ford) Buettner,  Grandchildren: Christy (Scott) O’Neill, Jeremy Carter, Samantha (Adam) Nagrocki, Jennifer (Luey) Garcia, Misha (Andy) Egan, Preston Hindman, Daniel (Fernanda) Carter, Logan (Cami) Buettner.

 

Great grandchildren: Finn, Grace, Collin, Remington, Lottie, Layla, Jeremy, Sammy, Daniel.

She was preceded in death by one daughter: Susan Carter, one son: David Carter, one sister: Jacqueline Sullivan, one brother: Don Frakes.  One grandson: Joshua Hodo.

 

Dolores graduated from the Middletown High School in 1948.

 

She is a member of Atlanta Christian Church, Foster Grandparents, Royal Neighbors and Veteran’s of Foreign War Auxiliary.

Melvina Robb

Melvina “Mel” Robb 92 of Argenta, Illinois passed away 1:00 A.M. March 27, 2020 at her family residence, Argenta, IL.

 

Graveside Services will be 1 PM, Monday, March 30, 2020 at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, Illinois with DMH Hospice Chaplain Jan Dial officiating. There will be no visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, Il. is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to Cancer Care Center of Decatur or D.M.H. Hospice.

 

Melvina was born July 8, 1927 in Fort Ancient, OH the daughter of Eddie Clifton and Martha Virginia (Vandevender) Vaughn. She married Marion “Rob” Robb May 29, 1955 in Mackinaw, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Marion “Rob” Robb, Argenta, IL; children, Cathie (Lonnie) Askren, Walstonburg, N.C. and Melvin “Mike” (Charla) Robb, Moweaqua, IL; 3 grandchildren:  Jenny, Eric, and Lindzi; and 4 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

 

Mel was a talented lady.  She was a ceramicist, artist, owned her own shop, and dabbled in wood carving.  Mel loved to play cards and Bingo.  Most of all she loved being a Homemaker and loved children.  She was known to them as “Mama Mel.”

Nancy Baker

Nancy L. Baker 78 of Clinton, IL passed away 11:30 PM March 20, 2020, at Heritage Health and Rehab, Bloomington, IL.

 

Private graveside services will be Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the Weldon Cemetery with Ernie Harvey, Jr.. officiating.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is handling the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the near future.

Nancy was born September 10, 1941, in Farmer City, IL the daughter of Elman and Lou Ree Rittenhouse. She married John R. Baker on June 19, 1960, in Farmer City, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, John R. Baker, Clinton, IL, children, Linden (Lisa) Baker, Clinton, IL; Connie (Tom) Cooper, Clinton, IL; Carol (Pat) Halihan, Hudson, IL;

6 grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Baker, Megan (Josh) Ellis, Cortney (Dan) Green, Collin Halihan, Caitlin Halihan, Wyatt Cooper; 4 great-grandchildren Kyleigh Baker, Hazel Mae Rathbun, Mattalynn Baker, and James Patrick Rathbun; siblings, Bill (Shirley) Rittenhouse, Farmer City, IL; Martha (Ed) Gillispie (DeKalb, IL); Glen (Rita) Rittenhouse, Pekin, IL; sister-in-law Jenny Rittenhouse, Clinton, IL; brother-in-law Arlen Isaacs, Mt. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Raymond Rittenhouse and Thomas Rittenhouse and two sisters Irene Oakley and Laura Isaacs.

 

Nancy co-owned Bakers ITCO and Bakers True Value with her loving husband John and retired from Gibson Ace Hardware in 2000. She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed her time with family, camping, and playing cards.

Rowena Fuller

 Rowena L. Fuller, 57 of Wapella, IL passed away 8:01 PM March 16, 2020, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL.

Rowena was born June 29, 1962, in Clinton, IL the daughter of Darrell Eugene and Shirley (Whitney) Rueger. She married Michael C. Fuller in Peoria, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Michael C. Fuller, Wapella, IL, daughter, Sarah Piatt-Prawl, Clinton, IL, son, Matthew D. Piatt, Peoria, IL, stepsons, Micah C. Fuller and Matthew R. Fuller both of East Peoria, IL, 7 grandchildren, and 6 brothers and sisters.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Rowena was a member of the Clinton VFW Women’s Auxiliary #416. She had worked in the hospitality industry for many years, always making sure people had meals during the holidays.

Carol Henderson

 Carol Kay Henderson, 78 of Maroa, IL passed away 2:15 P.M. March 17, 2020, at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln, IL.

Carol was born November 29, 1941, in Shobonier, IL the daughter of Charles and Pauline (Kagy) Klukis. She married Derald Henderson. He preceded her in death along with her parents, 3 brothers, and 1 grandson.

 

 

Survivors include her children, Paula Barry, Decatur, IL; Lola Dianne (Gregory) Peck, Murrieta, CA; David M. Cotner, FL, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Carol worked for the United States Postal Service and retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Ruth Sprague

Ruth E. Sprague 105 of Clinton, IL passed away 11:29 PM March 17, 2020, at her family residence, Clinton, IL.

Ruth was born December 26, 1914, in Clinton, IL the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (McKinney) McHaney. She married Paul A. Sprague on April 11, 1937, in Clinton, IL. He passed away on September 8, 2004.

 

Survivors include her children, Norma (Neil) Nichols, Maroa, IL; Janice Sprague, Clinton, IL, 3 grandchildren, Julie (Scott) Kelly, Clinton, IL; Jennifer (Tony) Rhodes, Clinton, IL; Chris Nichols, Normal, IL, 4 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, 1 Son, Charles Sprague, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

 

Ruth was an avid Cubs fan and saw them win the World Series. She loved to crochet.

Joyce C. Smith

Joyce C. Smith 83 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 1:46 PM March 15, 2020 at Manor Court, Clinton, Il.

Joyce was born January 9, 1937 in Clinton, Il. the daughter of Charles A. and June F. (Thomas) Provin. She married Keith R. “Corky” Smith February 24, 1954 in Clinton, Il. He passed away August 26, 2009.

 

Survivors include her children, Keith W. (Kathy) Smith, Clinton, Il.; Terri A. Davis, Ringold, Georgia; Steven R. (Marsha) Smith, Clinton, Il.; 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Step-Great-Grandchildren.

 

Joyce was preceded in death by her Parents, 2 Brothers, Bruce and Ron Provin, and Sister, Karen Provin.

 

Joyce was a bookkeeper for many years.

Richard Lenchner

 Richard Charles “Dick” Lenchner 72 of Clinton, Il. passed away 1:56 PM, March 12, 2020, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be 1 PM, Monday, March 16, 2020, at Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Chaplain Marc Rogers officiating. There will be no visitation.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Dick was born on October 30, 1947, in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Benjamin Jacob and Geraldine (McKinney) Lenchner.   He married Paula Gail Larson.  She passed away on February 1, 2006.

 

Survivors include his son, Benjamin (Billie) Lenchner, Ocala, FL; 2 grandsons, Kyle (Serena) Livingston, Ocala, FL, and Justin Lenchner, Ocala, FL; 2 great-grandchildren, Cooper Livingston and Abiegail Livingston; 2 brothers, Tom (Betty) Lenchner, Maroa, IL and Steve (Adele) Lenchner, Clinton, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Robert Lenchner.

 

Dick was a US Army veteran.  He served in the 2nd Infantry Div. in Korea during the Vietnam War.  He was an AMVETS member.

Judy D. Webb

Judy D. (Scott) Webb, 76, of Clinton, IL, passed away March 8, 2020, at Liberty Village in Clinton, IL.

Judy was born in Wapella, IL, the daughter of Wayne and Grace (Riddle) Scott. She married Clarence "Dick" Webb on January 1, 1964.

 

Survivors include her son Scott (Christy) Webb, Clinton, IL, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Gary Scott, and one granddaughter.


Judy was a loving and caring wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed riding alongside her husband and shopping. Her greatest joys were her son and grandchildren.

William David Hammer

 William David Hammer 79 of Argenta, Illinois passed away 3:25 A.M. March 12, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Il.

 

Graveside Services will be 12:00, Noon, Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL with Military Honors. There will be no visitation.  Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL is in charge of arrangements.

William was born January 10, 1941 in Argenta, IL the son of Juanita “Sis” Evans. He married Sarah A. Donaldson May 14, 2004 in Decatur, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Sarah A. Hammer, Argenta, IL; children, Penny (Curt) Price, Clinton, IL; Betty (Jim) Morrison, Clinton, IL; Tammy (John) Moffett, Westfield, IL; Jennifer (Devon) Maybo; Decatur, IL; Charity (Shannon) Slater, Decatur, IL; and Misty Hammer, IL; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Billy Hammer.

 

William retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad after 42 years of service.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.

James R. Tomes

 James R. “Cec” Tomes 79 of Clinton, IL passed away 1:39 PM March 9, 2020 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Services will be 10 AM Friday, March 13, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the funeral home.

Cec was born August 27, 1940 in Clinton, IL the son of Cecil and Ruth (Janes) Tomes. He married Frances J. Followell January 29, 1960 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Frances J. Tomes, Clinton, IL, children, Kathy (Francis) Jackson, Clinton, IL; Diana (Roger) Sams, Bellevue, NE, 3 grandsons, Kevin (Kristin) Jackson, Clinton, IL; Timothy (Krista) Jackson, Clinton, IL; Collin Sams, Madison, WI, 1 great grandson, 4 great granddaughters, siblings, Mary (Howard) Watts, Brentwood, TN; Barbara (Adrian) Bilyeu, Normal, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Cec worked for Caterpillar in Decatur for 34 years. He was a member of the Clinton Eagles Lodge for 58 years and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

Lyle Day

Lyle R. Day, 94 of Clinton, IL passed away 1:10 am on March 6, 2020, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating with military honors. Visitation will be 1:30 – 2:30 PM Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to Lyle Day Memorial Fund.

 

Lyle was born on November 26, 1925, the son of Ernest and May (Arthur) Day. He married Norma L. Tucker on February 19, 1944, in St. Louis, MO. She passed away on September 16, 1994.

 

Survivors include his son, David L. Day, Clinton, IL, daughter, Joy Rolofson, Clinton, IL, grandchildren, Brian, Kelly, and Sandra, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, James Day; 8 brothers; and 1 sister.

 

Lyle served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a fireman and engineer for Illinois Central Railroad and later sold cars for Fehrenbach Chevrolet in Decatur, IL.

Norman Lane

 Norman Robert “Bob” Lane, 83 of Momence formerly of Clinton, IL passed away 3:28 PM February 29, 2020 at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, IL.

 

Services will be 12:30 PM Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Baptist Cemetery, Kenney, IL. Visitation will be 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bob was born January 24, 1937 in Clinton, IL the son of Norman “Red” and Wilma (Matheny) Lane. He married Jane Ann Reynolds November 13, 1955 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Jane Ann Lane, Momence, IL, children, Robert “Tim” (Sharon) Lane, Momence, IL; Tobin (Lorinda) Lane, Tomah, WI, 4 grandchildren, Andrew (Kim) Johnson, Kansas City, KS; Kyle (Kirstin) Lane, Bloomington, IL; Timothy “T.J.” Lane (Joline Pettit), Momence, IL; Mary (Josh) Peot, Madison, WI, 2 great grandchildren, Trenton Lane and Jemma Lane.

 

He was preceded in death by parents, 1 infant daughter, Susan Merinda Lane, 2 brothers, Jerry Lane and Dick Lane, and beloved dog, Sasha.

 

Bob loved his family, his country and sports. He served his country in the United States Airforce and was an Alaska State Policeman. He was an avid golfer, Cubs fan and received his Varsity Letter in all four sports in all four years at Clinton Community High School.
