The Rev. Ernest D. Breithaupt, 79, of Wapella, died Thursday (April 27, 2017) at his home.

 

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Apostolic-Pentecostal Church, 2810 Tractor Lane, Bloomington. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at First United Pentecostal Church, 3 Jones Lane, Bloomington. Interment will immediately follow services at Randolph Township Cemetery. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Pentecostal Church of Bloomington Missions Fund.

 

Ernest DeWitt Breithaupt was born Aug. 16, 1937, in Grant Parish, La., son of Rufus DeWitt and Rosa Belle Blackshear Breithaupt. He began to feel his call into the ministry when he was 16 and he later gave up a football scholarship to Louisiana State University to go into ministry.

 

In 1957, he went to Apostolic Bible Institute, St. Paul, Minn. At ABI, he met Wally Ann Bierschenk from Louisville, Ky. They were married Aug. 23, 1958. In 1959, they moved to Frankfort, Ky., to build a church there.

 

In 1962, he returned to ABI as an instructor and also pastored the daughter church of Midway Tabernacle, St. Paul, Minn. From there, he moved to Apopka, Fla., and pastored the United Pentecostal Church. 

 

In 1968, he was elected to the pastorate of Apostolic Church, Belleville. Gateway College of Evangelism began in 1968 and, for its first three years, he served as an adjunct faculty member.

 

In 1972, Pastor Breithaupt was elected to be full-time district secretary of the Illinois District and in 1981 was elected to be district superintendent of the Illinois District. He held this position for 20 years.

 

In 1989, he was appointed to the budget committee of the general board for United Pentecostal Church International and continued to serve until 2015. In 1991, he became pastor of First United Pentecostal Church, Bloomington. One very enjoyable assignment for him was becoming a part of the board of directors of the Tupelo Children's Mansion in 1972, where he continued to serve as an honorary board member until his death.

 

Surviving are his wife, Wapella; two daughters, Lori (Daniel) Bentancur, Lyndhurst, N.J., and Lisa Mustread, Bloomington; five grandchildren, Alexis, Stefan (Miranda), Joshua, Abby amd Lanette; one great-granddaughter, Alejandra; and one sister, Lorain Carroll, Winnfield, La.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Robby.

 

Pastor Breithaupt will be remembered fondly by his family and friends because he was the best gumbo-maker outside of Louisiana, a marvelous story-teller, and though he was serious and compassionate, he was a prankster with a loud-booming laugh.

Karl Kimble Ives

Karl Kimble Ives, 92, of Forsyth, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Hickory Point Nursing Home in the care of Safe Haven Hospice.

 

Services to celebrate Karl's life will be 11 AM Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, Il. with Military Honors.  There will be no visitation.

 

Karl was born April 1, 1924, in Birkbeck, Illinois.  He was the son of True and Clara (Willson) Ives. He graduated from Wapella High School in 1942.  Karl attended Millikin before proudly serving in the U.S. Navy at Solomon Island for three years.  He married Phyllis Jean Hulburt on May 4,

1946 in Freeport, IL.  Karl was a grain and livestock farmer in Wapella. He was a director on the Dewitt Savings Bank, Clinton, IL board for 20

years and was also a member of the Clinton Country Club, the Clinton Elks,

and the Clinton Presbyterian Church.   Karl and Phyllis had many fond

memories with dear friends in their gourmet club, bridge club, and their

swim club.  After retiring from farming the couple moved to Clinton, and

also enjoyed their winters in Florida.  For the past eleven years they

have resided in Forsyth.   He also loved spending time with their dog

Millie.  Last May Karl and Phyllis celebrated 70 wonderful years together.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jean Ives, Forsyth, one daughter,

Karla Jean Manceaux, Decatur, one grandson, Chad (Jessica) Stewart, Blain,

Pennsylvania, and five great grandchildren, Taylor, Larry, Kevin, Casey,

and Timothy Kimble Stewart.  Karl will also be missed by his 4 nieces and

2 nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steven

Kimble Ives, two sisters, Harriet Jane Bruning, Orange, California, Anita

M. Gibson, Clinton, Illinois, and a brother-in-law Dr. James Hulburt,

Madison, Wisconsin.

 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of

Home Helpers of Clinton for their love and kindness over the past few

years, and also a special thank you to Safe Haven Hospice for their care

and support.

Larry D. Wilborn

Larry D. Wilborn, 79, of Monticello, formerly of Champaign, passed away from pulmonary fibrosis at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello. His family was by his side.

 

Larry was born on March 18, 1938 in Danville, IL the son of Clifford H. ‘Pete’ and Alice D. ‘Sally’ (Wood) Wilborn. He married Marilyn Grace James on October 23, 1965 in Champaign, IL.

 

Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Wilborn of Monticello; daughter, Laura (Greg) Gelwicks of Manchester, IA; grandchildren, James G. and Mark T. Gelwicks of Manchester, IA; sister, Patricia Busboom of Batavia, IL formerly of Urbana; niece, Shari (Dave) Lendy of Geneva, IL; and nephew, Scott (Paula) Busboom of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, son James Todd Wilborn, and brother-in-law Wayne Busboom.

 

Larry graduated from Champaign High School in 1956. He attended the U of Illinois and Eastern Illinois University before entering Northwestern Dental School of which he was a 1964 graduate. After practicing in Champaign for 26 years, he sold his practice. He and his wife started their daylily business Newbury Daylilies, Etc. in Champaign and later moved it to Monticello. Larry was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church.

 

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Bealmear officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Monticello United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello is handling the arrangements.

 

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Kirby Medical Center and Harbor Light Hospice of Decatur for their caring services.

Elwyn R. "Phil" Phillips

Elwyn R. “Phil” Phillips, 94, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 23. Phil was born June 20, 1922 in Merna, NE to the Rev. Irven M. and Ferne Rogers Phillips. He graduated in 1943 from York College in York, NE with a degree in music. Immediately drafted into the Army, he completed basic training, married his college sweetheart, Margaret Trout, was assigned to the 465th Engineer battalion, and went to England to prepare for D-Day.

 

He went ashore in Normandy on day 18 of the invasion, marched through the Battle of the Bulge, and worked in the Berlin occupation. Upon his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to the University of Nebraska where he earned a Masters of Social Work degree. He spent the rest of his career with the VA, helping fellow veterans. Phil served as Chief of Social Service at the Fort Meade (SD) VA hospital and later in the same position at Mountain Home VA hospital in Johnson City, TN.

 

Upon retirement, Phil and Margaret moved to Boynton Beach, FL where they lived 28 years before moving to assisted living in Gibson City, IL. Phil later moved to a skilled nursing facility in Powell, TN.

 

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 72 years, Margaret. He is survived by two sons, Leon (Rebecca) Phillips, Farmer City, IL and Larry (Patti) Phillips, Tellico Village, TN; grandchildren, Rev. Bryan (Kristal) Phillips and Mark (Amy) Phillips of Farmer City, IL; Rev. Paul (Tiffani) Phillips, Gibson City, IL; Kristi (Sam Mall) Hale, Mahomet, IL; Josie (Ryan Curcio) Phillips, St. Petersburg, FL; and Jamie (Bridgett Allison) Phillips, Nashville, TN; and 13 great-grandchildren.

 

A Graveside Service will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 28, 2017 at Danville National Cemetery, Danville, IL with Elwyn’s grandson, Rev. Bryan Phillips officiating. Military Rites will be accorded. M. Irene Woodrey, 96, of Normal, IL, formerly of the Blair House and LeRoy, IL, passed away at 4:00 A.M., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Heritage Manor, Normal, IL.

 

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy, IL with Pastor Ed Davis officiating. There will be no visitation.  Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Irene was born March 5, 1921 in LeRoy, IL to Paul and Emma Staley Woodrey.

 

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Pauline Woodrey and two brothers, Roger and Raymond Val Woodrey.

 

Irene was a member of the LeRoy Bethel Church for many years. She worked for State Farm for 42 years and retired in 1986. After her retirement she volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital for a few months. She enjoyed helping people.

 

The family would like to thank OSF Hospice and Heritage Manor for their care of Irene.

Loren W. Proefrock

Loren W. Proefrock, 90, of Lincoln passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

 

Loren was born on May 1, 1926 in Petersburg, IL, the son of Carl and Anna (Hagel) Proefrock, He married Darlene Reiss on February 12, 1949 in Altamont, IL. She has preceded him in death.

 

Loren is survived by his sons; Dr. David (Vicki) Proefrock of Augusta, GA, Dean (Traci) Proefrock of New Berlin, IL, John Proefrock of Hartsburg, IL, and Jim (Marlo) Proefrock of Hudson, WI; his eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers.

 

Loren retired from Illico Independent Oil Co. as a Comptroller in 1995. He was also the Secretary Treasurer for the Logan County Fair Board for many years. Loren was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Lincoln American Legion Post #263. Loren proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corp.

 

A memorial service for Loren will be held on a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Loren’s name to Friendship Manor or The Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation. Services have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Larry was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Sisters and 3 Brothers.

 

Larry served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He retired from Revere Copper & Brass Inc., Clinton, Il. He enjoyed fishing, joking andplaying pranks on others.

Betty J. Hoaglin, 90, of Lincoln passed away at 11:15 P.M. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Betty was born on January 25, 1927 in Lincoln, IL, the daughter of John M. and Lula (Usherwood) Amberg. She married Richard W. "Dick” Hoaglin on December 23, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2014.

Betty is survived by her sisters, Juanita L. Bale of FL, and Margaret A. (Jack) Ackerson of Lincoln. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites will be accorded byFricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. A private family burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery on a later date.

Steve was born December 29, 1949 in Clinton, IL the son of Frank J. and

Kathryn (Cray) Tamburini. He married Linda S. Munts July 19, 1980 in

Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Linda S. Tamburini, Clinton, IL; children:

Ryan S. Tamburini, Hoopeston, IL and Kathryn Lynn (Thomas) Joos, Chicago,

IL; brothers: Larry (Darlene) Tamburini, Normal, IL and Mike (Dolly)

Tamburini, LeRoy, IL. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

 

Steve was a graduate of Clinton High School in 1969 and of Illinois State

University, Normal, Il. He retired in 2011 from Hospital Sisters Health

System after 30 years. He had worked at various hospitals in central

Illinois including the Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton, Il. and St.

Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Il. before working for Hospital Sisters Health

Systems in Springfield, Il. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Deacon in May

2012, serving the parishes of St. John The Baptist in Clinton, Il., Sacred

Heart in Farmer City and St. John the Evangelist in Mansfield.  He enjoyed

reading and watching Western movies.

Simeamativa "Tiva" Muasau 56 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:20 PM

April 19, 2017 at her family residence, Clinton, Il.

 

No services are planned at this time. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral

Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites. A benefit in Tiva's name will be

held at Snapper's in Clinton, IL starting at 5 P.M., Friday, April 21,

2017.

Tiva was born September 27, 1960 in Tula, America Samoa.  She was raised

by Togi and Faauli Iuli.  She married Kennedy Muasau in 1997 in San

Francisco, CA

 

Survivors include her husband:  Kennedy Muasau, Clinton, IL; 3 sons:  Natu

(Amanda) Visinia; Togi Visinia; and Robert Allen Tuua all of Clinton, IL;

2 step-daughters:  Bethel Bartley and Reta Simonton both of Independence,

MO; step-son, Newyear Muasau, Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren; 5

brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers and sisters.

 

Tiva was a returned missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day

Saints.  She loved crocheting, Bingo, cooking, crafts and singing with her

grandchildren was one her favorite things to do.  Tiva was a loving mother

and grandmother to her family.  She was always willing to give a helping

hand anyway she could.

Survivors include his children, Roger (Carole) Heinrich, Olympia, WA; Steven (Betty) Heinrich, Clinton, IL, Lori (Dave) Hardyman, Norman, OK; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchild.

 

Bob was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL. He served his country in the US Navy and retired as a salesman. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and visiting with others.

Martha Ann Hafley, 79, of LeRoy passed away at 8:19 P.M., Friday, April 14, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL.

Martha was born April 12, 1938 in Clinton, IL a daughter of Fred and Ellenora Mott Humphrey. She married Leonard Hafley on March 3, 1956 in Clinton, IL. He survives.

 

Surviving are her son, Donnie Hafley of LeRoy, IL; daughters, Jackie Hafley of Farmer City, IL and Cindy Mattingly of Mahomet, IL; grandchildren, Tina Mattingly, Jeremy (Lindsey) Mattingly, Sareena Hafley, and Chris (Jackie) Hafley; great-grandchildren, Austin and Dayton Craig; Vanessa, Landon and Logan Mattingly; MaKenzi and Aleigha Newberry; great-great-grandchild, Dallas Craig; sister, Goldie Wheeler of IN; brother, Butch Humphrey of Junction City, MO.

 

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Dwight D. Hays, 74, of Wapella, IL. passed away at 4:00 pm on April 13, 2017 at the Warner Hospital in Clinton, IL.

                                

A celebrating life visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26th 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton, IL.  Burial will be at the Aten Cemetery at a later date.

 

Dwight was born in Hidalgo, IL on April 12, 1943 the son of Delphine “Mike” & Oma Childress Hays. Dwight retired from Country Companies. Dwight served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Surviving is his sister Nila Fain of Casey, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Anna Marie Moss

Anna Marie Moss, 84, of Clinton died peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017

at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 27, 1932, in DeWitt County, to Edward and Ida (Hall) Dial

and remained a life-long resident.

 

Anna was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed

working outside in her vegetable and floral gardens, and was also an

accomplished quilter and talented artist. She was an avid golfer in the

ladies golf league at the Clinton Country Club for many years. Her most

important role, though, was providing a constant level of support for her

beloved husband, Raymond. His success as an attorney is measured by the

amount of love she had in supporting him. After battling cancer for

several years, Anna is now free from the pain and her soul is at peace.

Her entire family will miss her greatly, but are thankful for the memories

she left.

 

Anna is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Raymond Moss; her son

Ron (Joelle Schnierle) Taylor; her daughter Venessa (Steve) Sauer; her

stepsons David (Margaret) Moss, Tim (Alice) Moss, and Tom (Tina Dorow)

Moss; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived

by two brothers; Phillip Dial and Robert Dial; along with several nieces

and nephews including a special niece, Susi Martin (Frank) Alexander.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Mary (Dial) Martin

and Louise (Dial) Copass; and her brothers Leland Dial and George Dial.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2017 at

Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Michael Taylor officiating.

Immediately following the services, her ashes will be interred at the

Texas Township Cemetery, Clinton, in her family plot alongside her

parents, sisters, and brothers.  After the graveside services, everyone

attending the service is invited to come to the Clinton Country Club for

luncheon where we can visit, eat, and rest in comfort.   There will be no

visitation.

 

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Samaritan Room or plant a

tree in her honor for her love of the outdoors. The family wishes to thank

all of Anna's friends and family for everything they have done for her,

including the doctors and nurses at Carle Foundation Hospital, McKinley

Court, and Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Correne Burch, 92, of Farmer City, formerly of Atwood, passed away at 1:11 p.m. April 8, 2017, at Farmer City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

 

A celebration of Correne’s life will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at United Church of Atwood. Pastor Don Gerkin will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Private burial will be at Arcola Cemetery at a later date. Edwards Funeral Home, Arcola, is assisting with arrangements.

 

Correne was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Muhlenberg County, Ky., a daughter of Arthur and Ella (Peach) Embry. She married Robert Enlow on June 29, 1942, in Brandenburg, Ky. She later married Claude Burch on June 3, 1979, in Neoga. He passed away July 6, 1988.

 

Correne is survived by five children, Virginia (Thomas) McNutt, Farmer City; Paul (Barbara) Enlow, Chesterville; Victoria (Jim) Brown, Centrailia, Mo.; Ellen Lynch, Atwood; and Nellie (Louis) Sheffield, De;and; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Robert Louis Enlow; one daughter, Joanna Sue Burch; one grandson, Robert Louis Enlow Jr.; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Chester Embry, Charles Embry and John “J.C” Embry; and one sister, Mary Lou Smith.

 

Correne was a member of Arcola Free Methodist Church and had been a member of Odd Fellow-Rebekah Lodge, Arthur. 

 

She enjoyed sewing and quilting and spending time with her family.

Robert was born December 6, 1927 in Bloomington, IL, a son of Harry Lee and Mildred Oliver Roy. He married Kackie Lamont Roy, and she passed away in 2005. He married Betty Higgins in 2006, and she survives.

 

Surviving are his wife, Betty Higgins Roy; two sons, Jerry (Alesha) Roy of Mackinaw, IL and Jim (Karen) Roy of Ottawa, IL; one daughter, Sue (Ron) Bachman of Lowpoint, IL; eight grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Owens of LeRoy, IL and Judy Atherton of Congerville, IL.

 

Robert had a forty year career at Caterpillar. He loved farming, Caterpillar and flying planes.

Gerald Goodman, 72, of Mt. Pulaski, died peacefully at 9:15 a.m. on April 8, 2017 at his home.

 

He was born at St. Clara’s Hospital in Lincoln on July 27, 1944; son of Carl J. and Olive M. (Pope) Goodman. He married Gloria J. Garrett on September 17, 1965. She survives him.

 

Also surviving are his daughters: Mary Viner and Gail Johnson; grandchildren: Benjamin and Daniel Goodman, Andrew and Joseph Viner, and Abigail Johnson; siblings; Alice (Hermie), Violet, Esther, Carl “Junior”, Linda, Marjorie, Susie, and Robert; also many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Jerald Wayne, and brothers: Dennis and Donald.

 

Gerald worked as a Corn Sheller, a factory worker, carpenter, realtor and appraiser, worked for Stetson China, Myers Industries, Local Council of Carpenter and Joiners, Albert Realty and ABC&G Real Estate and appraised many local homes.

Pat was born on April 3, 1929 in Lincoln, IL; daughter of Hal and Sue Trommer Lewis. She married Jack Hamilton on June 18, 1955 in Lincoln, IL. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2003.

 

Surviving Pat are her children: Jeff Hamilton and Nancy (John) Stoll of Chestnut, IL; two sisters: Carol Cooper and Janet Kvitle of Lincoln, IL; one granddaughter: Allison (Chris) Koslek of Grand Rapids, MI; one great-grandson: Bryce Koslek of Grand Rapids, MI. she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Lee Lewis.

 

Services for Pat will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 13, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00p.m. Wednesday April 12, 2017 also at the funeral home. Burial at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery will follow the service. Elinor Davis, 85, passed away at 7:10 p.m. on April 9, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

 

Elinor was born on November 25, 1931 in New Holland, IL; daughter of Victor and Hilma Berndt Sanders. She married Floyd Davis in September of 1988 in Lincoln. He survives her.

 

Also surviving are her daughters: Diana (Phillip) Pickett of Elkhart, IL, Vickie (Doug Fink) Hum of Lincoln, IL, and Tina (John Hebenstreit) Huff of Lincoln, IL; grandchildren: Lynne, Jennifer (Bryan), Michelle , Nathaniel (Rebecca), Dillon, and Caroline; great grandchildren: Marcus, Phillip, Nolan, Liam, and Jeffrey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband: Adolph Hum, two brothers, and one sister.

 

Elinor was of the Lutheran faith. She loved refunding, reading, and cooking. She was a founding member of the Latham Farmer’s Market. She was an award winning hairdresser. She was a wonderful mom and grandma, and will be dearly missed.

Ethel Buchanan

Ethel Buchanan, 89, of Lincoln, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Sunday (April 9, 2017) at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln.

 

Ethel was born May 17, 1927, in Normal, the daughter of Ferdinand and Martha Dillon McGuire. She married Robert C. Buchanan on Dec. 12, 1970, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1995.

 

Surviving Ethel are her daughter, Vicki Gilbert Ziemer, Charleston, Maine; two stepdaughters, Kathy Danner, Lincoln, and Margaret Ellen Talbert, St. Augustine, Fla.; son-in-law, Scott Ulrey, Watertown, Wis.; one brother, Richard (Liz) McGuire, Towanda; and one granddaughter, Gretchen (Neil Greenberg) Ziemer, Charleston, Maine.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother; one daughter, Sherry Ulrey; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Joel Ziemer.

 

Ethel was a lifelong Baptist. She loved all animals, especially her cats. She loved her family and friends, the Chicago Cubs and going to St. John’s. She was very active in the Relay For Life, where she was an honorary chairman, and also had a team from Eaton Corp., where she was a supervisor, called Ethel’s Angels which raised a lot of funds for cancer research.

 

The graveside service for Ethel will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln. A reception will follow at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lincoln American Legion. Memorials may be made in Ethel’s name to the Humane Society of Logan County or American Cancer Society.

Bailie Ann Bryant

Bailie Ann Bryant, 18, of Clinton, passed away at 12:49 a.m. Sunday (April 9, 2017) near Mason City.

 

She was born Feb. 23, 1999 in Peoria, to Robert and Michelle Lewis Bryant.

 

Bailie is survived by her mother, Michelle (James) McClure, Clinton; father, Bob (Dawn) Bryant, Canton; brothers, Dalton Bryant, Clinton, and Zachary Hart, Canton; sisters, Jessi Hart, Canton, and Moriah Harmon, Ipava; six nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving are grandparents, Velva and Tim Fletcher, Mark and Terri Lewis, Dale Bryant, Pam McClure, Carolyn Steward, Ross and Dianne Logan, and several great-grandparents.

 

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Becky Bryant, and several great-grandparents.

 

Bailie recently graduated from Clinton Christian Academy - Assembly of God in December 2016. She was currently employed by Subway in Clinton, where she was a sandwich artist. She enjoyed her work and spending time with her friends, listening to music and dancing. In her free time, she liked motorcycle rides with her dad and brother. She especially enjoyed baby-sitting and spending time with kids as well as playing with animals. Her goal was to become a veterinarian and to work with animals. She was looking forward to registering for veterinary school in the near future.

 

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hurley Funeral Home, Havana. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Nick Blacklidge will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana.

Tiffany was born June 28, 1989 in Champaign, IL the daughter of Richard

Rusher, Sr. and Kelli Andrews.

Joshua Rusher, CO, Richard Rusher, Jr. with his fiancé and 3 children, Clinton, IL, Zacharey Rusher,

Tiffany loved to sing, write poetry, listen to music, read, and try out

new restaurants. She also loved her cat, Bella, very much.

 

Tiffany Rusher joined with many other prisoners working with the Uptown

People's Law Center to pursue a class action law suit which will result in

80 million dollars being spent yearly for the improvement of mental health

treatment in Illinois prisons. Also she supported the UPLC's work to

reduce the use of solitary confinement in Illinois, which is where her

problems started.

 

It was Tiffany's wish that we change the way we treat our mentally ill

patients and end solitary confinement. Sadly, those changes are too late

to save Tiffany.  But hopefully, this will save the lives of others.

 

Tiffany will be remembered by many.

Leslie was born March 21, 1948 in Barrington, IL the daughter of Paul and Charlotte (Wells) Speight.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Andrew) O’Neall, Downs, IL and son, Chris Bell, DeKalb, IL; 2 grandchildren, Abraham and Anna O’Neall, Downs, IL; brother, Kent (Linda) Speight, Red Wing, MN; and sister, Mary (Bob) Spain, Gurnee, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Leslie was a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church. She was a Trauma Nurse working in the ER at John Warner Hospital, Clinton, Il and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.  Leslie was also a Parrish Nurse for the Clinton United Methodist Church.  Leslie enjoyed reading and traveling.  She had traveled to Ireland and Israel.  She was also a member of C.O.R.N. – the Clinton Old Retired Nurses.  Leslie considered her friends her family and enjoyed spending time with them as well as supporting her grandchildren in all their activities.

 Herbert F. Lust, Sr., 87, of Bement, Illinois passed Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:15 pm at Bement Health Care Center, Bement, Illinois.

 

Visitation is 4-6 pm, Sunday, April 2, at Hillgoss-Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East U.S. Highway 36, Atwood, Illinois, with Masonic Rites immediately following at 6 pm. Funeral Services will be Monday, April 3 at the funeral home with burial following at the Bement Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.

 

Herb was born on July 18, 1929 on the family farm, rural Hammond, the son of Henry C. and Audrey V. Emery Lust. He married Frances “Ann” Halterman on November 12, 1953 in the Bement Christian Church.

 

Surviving family are his wife, Ann, and children: Herb Lust, Jr., of Hammond, Howard (Kay) Lust of Bement, Kathryn Lust of San Francisco, CA, and Donna (John) Parks of Urbana, IL; Grandchildren Kristopher Lust, Courtney Brown, Jennifer Lust, Nicholas (Moira) Lust, and Shelby Lust; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Leland (Delores) Lust of Hammond. He was preceded by his parents, daughter Cynthia Ann Lust, in-laws Joe and Frances Halterman, and daughter in-law, Cheryl Lust.

 

Herb was a water main contractor by profession, owner and operator of Bement Plumbing & Supplies Company, as well as a proud Central Illinois farmer. Raised in the United Methodist Church of Hammond, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, advancing in rank to Military Police and served his last months at Governors Island, New York. A committed provider, his greatest joys were his marriage to Ann, raising their 5 children, and the solace of working the farm. He was a member of Bement Masonic Lodge #365, AF & AM, Albert Parker American Legion Post #620 and the Moose Lodge of Champaign.

Kerry Daniels

Kerry Scott Daniels, 57, of Clinton, passed away Thursday (April 6, 2017) in Clinton.

Kerry, or “Scott” to family and friends, was born Sept. 29, 1959, in Clinton, the son of Thornton and Joyce (Hammond) Daniels.

 

Survivors include his brothers, David (Dana) Daniels, Florissant, Mo.; Terry Daniels, Mons, Belgium; Robert (Martha) Daniels, Springfield; James Daniels, Clinton; Philip Daniels, Clinton; and sisters, Karen Daniels, Granbury, Texas, and Janet (David) Coppenbarger, Granbury, Texas. Scott is also survived by three nephews, Kevin (Stephanie) and Timothy (Stephanie) Coppenbarger, both of Granbury, Texas, and Christopher Daniels, Clinton. One niece, Maggie Inman, Clinton, and several great-nephews and great-nieces also survive.

 

Kerry happily was a father to Becky Broadhacker and grandfather to her son, Kaiden McCoy, who called him “Papa.” Both brought him great happiness and joy. He will be deeply missed by all.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Michael; and a great-great-nephew, Aiden.

 

Scott was a lifelong area resident and served in the U.S. Navy, Naval Construction Force, better known as the Seabees. Scott enjoyed fishing, cooking, drawing, playing video games and the banjo. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He had a huge heart, a warm smile, and loved his family deeply.

Jeffrey G. Kindred, 54, of Atlanta, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Friday (April 7, 2017) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Jeffrey Gordon Kindred was born Dec. 30, 1962, in Lincoln, the son of Gordon and Jean Harris Kindred.

 

Jeff is survived by his parents; his siblings, Gayle (Dave) Klug, Karen (John) Sherman, Denis (Sherri) Kindred, and Marsha (John) Mammen; his nieces and nephews, Elisha (Dustin) Harksen, Janna Shaw, Jordan Sherman, Kari (William) Hutchison, Ashlee Mammen, Cole Kindred, Wyatt Mammen, and Caden Kindred; great-nieces and great-nephews, Maddux, Billy, Mylah, Kennedy, Isaac, Avrey, and Angus; three aunts; and his church family.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

 

Jeff was a member of Atlanta Christian Church, where he was very active with music and worship leadership. He was a member of Atlanta Community Band since 1992. He lived and worked in New Zealand as a youth minister for two years.

 

Jeff graduated from Olympia High School in 1981 and Lincoln Christian College and Seminary in 1987. He sang at many weddings and played taps for many veterans' funerals.

Daniel P. Snyder, 90, of Monticello, passed away at 6:12 a.m. Monday (April 3, 2017) at Arcola Health Care Center.

 

Danny was born July 2, 1926, in Clinton, the son of Ruben and Ruth (Hill) Snyder. He married Hilda Marie Shafer on Feb. 16, 1946, in Decatur. She passed away Nov. 16, 1983. He later married Jean “J.J.” Price on March 4, 2012, in Monticello.

 

Danny is survived by his wife, Jean “J.J.” Snyder, Monticello; sons, Steven Snyder (Susie), Bloomington; Chris Price (Tracy), Katy, Texas; Jeff Price (Leann), San Jose; grandchildren, Nick Price, Daniel Price, Stacey Snyder, Kristin Smith (Mike), Colin Price, Breanna Price; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ella, Harper, Cannon and Coen Smith; and sister-in-law, Hazel Snyder, Clinton.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hilda Marie Shafer; one brother; one sister; and one half brother.

 

Danny retired from Manor Care and was maintenance and groundskeeper at First State Bank of Monticello. Danny also served as a deputy on both the Piatt County and Monticello police departments. Danny served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of Hamm-Burke American Legion Post 101 of Monticello.

 

His funeral will be at noon Thursday at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. Steve Ingram officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Croninger Cemetery, Cisco, with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family of Daniel P. Snyder.

Linda Bartlett

Linda R. Bartlett was born to Edith and George Killen on August 3, 1947 in Tuscola, Illinois. She passed away peacefully, in her sleep, on April 4, 2017. She graduated from Atwood-Hammond High School and went on to obtained her Bachelor of Nursing Degree, after which she worked as a registered nurse for many years, caring for the elderly, a job she dearly loved. Following that, she worked for 22 years as the Director of Community Action for Piatt and Dewitt counties, fulfilling her passion for assisting others, particularly the elderly. Hundreds of families and individuals in both Piatt and Dewitt counties were provided access to financial assistance, home weatherization, and food maintenance through the many programs she administered.

 

Linda was the devoted wife of Ron Bartlett, whom she married on July 23, 1988. She was the kind and loving mother of Christine Warner-Northrup (Duane) of Mahomet and Dan Warner of Champaign, as well as step-mother of Justin Bartlett, whom she cared for deeply as well.  She was the proud grandma of Madison Northrup, Peyton Northup and Kailyn Northrup, all of Mahomet. She often stated her grandchildren were the best thing that ever happened to her. She experienced pure joy playing with them, reading and watching movies, attending their many activities and, when she could no longer travel, watching videos of their various activities. She lived to see her oldest granddaughter’s acceptance to nursing school, an accomplishment that made her very proud, as well as her second granddaughter’s acceptance to college and her youngest grandchild receive her driver’s license, all of which brought a huge smile to her face. She was never happier than when surrounded by her three granddaughters, of each she referred to as a gift.

 

Linda was a champion and a voice for all those who could not be for themselves. She served as a member of the Illinois commissioned Domestic Violence Committee for several years. She was known to invite complete strangers to dinner, open her home to several adults with developmental disabilities who had no place to go for the holidays, and to work endless hours to ensure the families she worked with had the power, water, food and other essentials necessary to allow them to stay in their homes. Her friends were vast and spanned across different religions, races, cultures, ages, and economic status. Her heart was full when her home was full of family, friends and food to share. She was truly one of a kind.

 

Besides her husband, children and grandchildren, Linda is survived by her brother Tom Parks of Sullivan, Illinois and David “Darrell” Parks of Tucson, AZ. She was proceeded in death by her father and mother, as well as her beloved sister, Donna Fischer.

 

Services will be Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Mansfield United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10-11 with services immediately following. A private, family burial will be held following the ceremony. The family asks, to honor Linda’s life of giving, that memorial contributions be made to the Mahomet-Seymour Social Work Fund to support the needs of many students and families in the district or to Crisis Nursery, in support of the babies she so lovingly adored.

Eugene Craft

Eugene L. Craft, 88, of Atlanta, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Sunday (April 2, 2017) at St. Clara's Manor, Lincoln.

 

Private funeral services were held. Burial was at Funks Grove Cemetery in rural McLean.

 

Eugene Lee Craft was born Dec. 27, 1928, in Clinton, the son of Leola and Lou Verna Burke Craft. He married Eileen J. Hynd on Jan. 29, 1953. She survives.

 

Also surviving are their children, Norma, Tim and Gena; one brother, Vaughan Craft; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Susan.

 

Gene graduated from Atlanta High School in 1947.

Janice Bridges

Janice Bridges, 59, of Hartsburg passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 in Zion, IL. Janice was born on October 17, 1957 in Lincoln, IL the daughter of Lewis and Audrey (Davies) Eyrse. Janice married Rodney Bridges on October 20, 1984 in Lincoln. He survives.

 

Janice is also survived by her father; her daughter, Alicia (Brian) Mayberry of Atlanta, IL; her siblings, Judy (Loren) Laubenstein of Lincoln, Shirley Carter of Emden, Alan Eyrse of Lincoln, David (Michelle) Eyrse of Hartsburg, and Tracy (Reggie) Payne of Hartsburg; her grandchildren, Allyxandrea, Cohnor, and Laurynn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Janice was preceded in death by her mother, father-in-law, Carl Bridges, her grandparents, and her nephew, Gerard Carter.

 

Janice worked at St. Clara’s Manor as a housekeeper for many years. She loved her German Sheppard, Jax. She enjoyed being outdoors in the country and gardening. She liked to decorate and write poems, and her grandkids were everything to her.

 

Services for Janice will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 atFricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincolnwith Joe Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. prior to services also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Hartsburg Union Cemetery at a later date. Mike was a member of the 1973 Graduating Class at Argenta-Oreana High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon being honorably discharged he returned home and became a self-employed master carpenter. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in the yard with many different kinds of flowers and plants.

 

Mike loved his family and friends, and would do anything for them. He will be deeply missed by all.

She was a Child Evangelism teacher in Decatur, Forsyth, and Maroa for 21 years and taught Sunday school at the Harvest Community Church of Maroa, (Formerly known as

Herbert F. Lust, Sr., 87, of Bement, Illinois passed Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:15 pm at Bement Health Care Center, Bement, Illinois.

 

Visitation is 4-6 pm, Sunday, April 2, at Hillgoss-Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East U.S. Highway 36, Atwood, Illinois, with Masonic Rites immediately following at 6 pm. Funeral Services will be Monday, April 3 at the funeral home with burial following at the Bement Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.

 

Herb was born on July 18, 1929 on the family farm, rural Hammond, the son of Henry C. and Audrey V. Emery Lust. He married Frances “Ann” Halterman on November 12, 1953 in the Bement Christian Church.

 

Surviving family are his wife, Ann, and children: Herb Lust, Jr., of Hammond, Howard (Kay) Lust of Bement, Kathryn Lust of San Francisco, CA, and Donna (John) Parks of Urbana, IL; Grandchildren Kristopher Lust, Courtney Brown, Jennifer Lust, Nicholas (Moira) Lust, and Shelby Lust; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Leland (Delores) Lust of Hammond. He was preceded by his parents, daughter Cynthia Ann Lust, in-laws Joe and Frances Halterman, and daughter in-law, Cheryl Lust.

 

Herb was a water main contractor by profession, owner and operator of Bement Plumbing & Supplies Company, as well as a proud Central Illinois farmer. Raised in the United Methodist Church of Hammond, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, advancing in rank to Military Police and served his last months at Governors Island, New York. A committed provider, his greatest joys were his marriage to Ann, raising their 5 children, and the solace of working the farm. He was a member of Bement Masonic Lodge #365, AF & AM, Albert Parker American Legion Post #620 and the Moose Lodge of Champaign.

Joyce M. Bounds, 63 of Lincoln, passed away Thursday (March 30, 2017) at North Kickapoo House, Lincoln.

 

Her service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Pastor Terry Strom officiating. Burial will be at Lexington Township Cemetery, Lexington. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomington.

 

Joyce was born July 5, 1953, in Bloomington, the daughter of Cleon Sr. and Helen A. (Stienlicht) Bounds.

 

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Bernard (Pam) Bounds, Morris; Cleon Bounds Jr., Redondo Beach, Calif.; Tom Bounds and John Bounds, both of Bloomington; Louise (Don) Savage, Bloomington; and Lois Percopo, Harbor City, Calif.; along with many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Richard; and one sister, Beverly.

 

Joyce enjoyed working on puzzles. She loved her cat and enjoyed eating family dinners with her family and spending time with them. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and they loved her as much.

 

She will be dearly missed by all of them.
