Rita Brown

Rita F. Brown 82 of Wapella, IL passed away 10:20 PM December 22, 2021 at Riverside Hospital, Kankakee, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 9 – 11 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

 

Rita was born September 5, 1939 in Hawesville, KY the daughter of Malcolm and Senada (Rice) Ogle. She married Leslie Johnson, Jr on February 11, 1956. He passed away August 19, 1980. She later married Lawrence W. “Larry” Brown on February 4, 1983 in Waynesville, IL. He passed away June 28, 2006.

 

Survivors include her children:  Karen (Randy) Swanlund, Pigeon Forge, TN; Leslie Ann (Harold) Whitecotton, Piper City, IL; Rick (Denise) Johnson, Kenney, IL; Bobbi Johnson Seaman, Kenney, IL; and Scott (Lyricia) Johnson, North Wilkesboro, NC; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  One sister, Janet Taylor, Maroa, IL and one brother, Mike Craft, Hawesville, KY also survive.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, June Thiery and Carol Ballard.

 

Rita was very active in her church throughout her life.  She worked at GE in Bloomington, IL until retirement.  Rita enjoyed Bingo, bible study, shopping, garage sales, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

 

Rita was a very kind and generous person who never met a stranger.

Rolla Dean Senters

 Rolla Dean Senters 78 of Bloomington, Illinois passed away 3:12 PM December 21, 2021 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, Il.

 

Graveside services will be 1 PM December 27, 2021 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, Il. There will be no visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. is in charge of arrangements.

Rolla was born May 7, 1943 in Clay County, Il. the son of Frederick Leon and Claris Amelia (Robinson) Senters. He married Donna Roberts July 30, 1975 in Clinton, Il.

 

Survivors include his wife, Donna Senters, Bloomington, Il.; Daughter, Rollina Bruns, Normal, Il.; Special Nephew, Dan (Kathy) Senters; Sister, Margie Descaro; Brother, Pat (Anne) Senters and many Nieces and Nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Siblings, Sammy, June, Joe, Gene, Fred, Jack, Jess, David and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Robert Lee Tynan

 Robert Lee Tynan, 84, of Maroa, IL passed away at 8:45 PM, December 20, 2021 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Decatur, IL with Gary Mosley officiating.  Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL with Military Honors.  Visitation will be 9 – 11 AM, Thursday at the church.  Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, Decatur, IL.

 

Robert was born June 12, 1937 in Shelbyville, IL.  He married Pauline Tolby on September 2, 1960 in Maroa, IL; his “Dream Lover” for 61 years.

 

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Tynan, Maroa, IL; children:  Larry (Theresa) Tynan, Leanne (Mike) Craft, Laura (Jack) Grider, and Lance (Kristi) Tynan; grandchildren:  Nick Tynan, Christopher Craft, Alissa Fry, Alexandra Treuthart, Jeremiah Grider, Robert Tynan, and Devin Tynan; grand-grandchildren:  Ian Tynan, Scarlett Craft, Maggie Fry, Penelope Craft, and Delilah Craft; and siblings, Jack (Sue) Tynan and Donna Tynan.  Also surviving is close family friend, Robert Beem.

 

Robert graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1955 and attended Millikin University where he joined the Army Reserve.  He served in active duty from 1957 to 1958.  Robert was a member of the Maroa Bible Church and then The Harvest Community Church for 58 years until it closed.  He then started attending First Baptist Church, Decatur where he became a member in 2018.

 

Robert retired from Firestone in Decatur after 36 years of service.  He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and the Fighting Illini.  You could find him in the stands watching his kids and grandkids in their activities at the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans, the Brown County Hornets, the Illinois College Blueboys, and the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans games. Robert also enjoyed his popcorn, an orange soda, and listening to ‘50’s music.

Kent Strange

 Kent Strange, 98 of Clinton, IL passed away 9:24 PM December 17, 2021 at his family home in Clinton, IL.

 

He was a beautiful Christian gentleman and a gentle man.  He had an amazing life!  As one of his friends shared, “Our hearts are sad as this world has lost a great man.”

 

Ralph Kent Strange was born to Ada (Nichols) Strange and Ralph Strange Friday, July 13, 1923. Kent graduated from Clinton High School, in 1943, and chose to go into farming with his Dad, which he did until 1984 when he retired and moved to CA to marry Barbara.

 

He and Barbara (Lisenby) Strange were married October 6, 1984.  They lived in Santa Fe, NM for 16 years and then purchased a beautiful home, in Clinton, where Kent was very happy with Barbara and their two dachshunds, Oprah and Dolly.  They belonged to the Clinton Country Club and were active in other organizations. 

 

He was an historian, an antique collector, pilot, accordionist, golfer and storyteller.  Many have been blessed with his presence.

 

Kent is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughters Cecilia Hyland and Shell McKenzie who live in Colorado, as well as his son, John, who lives in Bethany.  He is also survived by several grandchildren and Barbara’s daughter and son.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Phyllis, and a son, Jan.

 

He is probably out hunting mushrooms or arrowheads; doing what he loved to do.

 

Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Clinton Presbyterian Church with Pastor Paul Stroup officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 1 – 2 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the church. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

Barbara Lee

Barbara L. Lee 52 of Clinton, IL passed away 4:53 PM December 16, 2021 at the Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorial services will be 4 PM Monday, December 27, 2021the Clinton First Christian Church with Allison Hitchings officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

 

Memorials may be directed to Clinton First Christian Church or the Neighborhood Care Center.

 

Barbara was born August 20, 1969 in Pontiac, IL the daughter of Lyle R. and Martha (Lee) Snyder.

 

Survivors include her mother, Martha Snyder, Clinton, IL, daughter, Cheyanne Lingo, and brother, Lyle “Andy” (Brooke) Snyder.

 

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, and grandparents.

 

Barbara was a member of the Clinton First Christian Church. She enjoyed being involved in the church, along with fishing and camping.

James Jiles

James E. Jiles, 70 of Clinton, IL passed away 2:02 AM December 16, 2021 at his family home in Clinton, IL.

 

Services for James and his wife Robin will be 11 AM, Monday, December 20, 2021 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. and Chaplain Ellen Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Monday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

James was born October 14, 1951 in Clinton, IL the son of Earl R. and Oleta (Henson) Jiles. He married Robin Lynne West May 28, 1988 in Clinton, IL.  She passed away October 19, 2021.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Hopwood, sons, Travis W. Jiles, Jessie R. Jiles, and Michael R. (Chelsey) Jiles, grandchildren, Hayden Sheehan, Gaven, Reece, Joseph, Christian, Faith, Mckenzie, Kennedy, and Dean Jiles; and sister Barbara (Gene) Willoughby, Clinton, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Jiles, and sisters, Alice Bolin and Ruth Durbin.

 

James retired from Illinois Power (Ameren) in 2012 after 38 years of service.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Joey Fatheree

Jo Elaine “Joey” Fatheree 77 of Clinton, IL passed away 7:45 A.M. December 16, 2021 at her family residence, Clinton, IL.

 

Private services will be at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Joey was born January 25, 1944 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Roy L. and Verla I. (Williams) Geer. She married Bud Fatheree November 30, 1963 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband, Bud Fatheree, Clinton, IL, children, Todd R. (Janet) Fatheree, San Antonio, TX; Lanette R. Fatheree, Clinton, IL; Amy E. Petty, Clinton, IL, grandchildren, Cassie (Nick) Smith; Trevor Fatheree; Tyrese Petty; Audrey Fatheree; April Fatheree, and great grandson, Reid Smith.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Robert Young; David Geer; Brian Geer; and Janice Link.

 

Joey enjoyed gardening and canning. Her grandchildren and great grandson were the love of her life.

Donald L. Filkin

 Donald “Don” L. Filkin, 78 of Wapella, IL, passed away at 11:14am on December 10, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

 

Graveside services will be at 11am, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wapella, IL, with Levi Nettles officiating.  Military Honors will be accorded.  The family will hold a Celebration of Life in the Spring of 2022.  There will be no visitation.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL, is in charge of arrangements.

Don was born July 27, 1943 in Champaign, IL, the son of Lloyd and Marie (Dunlap) Filkin.  He married Donna K. (Goin) Brown on May 4, 1974 in Gibson City, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Donna K. Filkin, Wapella, IL; son, Michael (Kristina) Filkin, Wapella, IL; grandchildren:  Taylor (Dylan Toepke) Filkin, Heyworth, IL; Madison (Levi) Nettles, Wapella, IL; Derek Filkin, Wapella, IL; Regan Filkin, Wapella, IL; and Kyla (Nick) Kerber, Bloomington, IL; great-grandsons:  Cash Michael Carter and Kohen Nikolas Kerber; and brothers, Glen (Sally) Filkin, Gifford, IL and Gary Filkin, Bloomington, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

 

Don served in the US Army from 1965 – 1967.  He was stationed in Italy on a Nike-Hercules Missile site.  He graduated from Parkland College with honors.  Don moved to Wapella, IL in 1974, where he served as a member of the Wapella School Board, a Cub Scout Leader, Little League Coach, and volunteer Wapella fireman. 

 

Don retired from State Farm Insurance after 27 years of service.  He owned and operated Don’s Tree Farm in Wapella from 1983 – 2010 with the help of family, friends, The Blue Ridge Boys, and teens from Wapella, Clinton, and Heyworth.  After retirement, Don was well-known for attending Clinton athletic events, supporting his grandchildren.  He captured photographic memories of Clinton’s student athletes for over a decade.

 

Don will be remembered by all as a great example of a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.  His smile was magnificent; his laughter was infectious; and his generosity was abundant.  He will be forever missed beyond words.

Frederick Enos

 Frederick Enos, 90 of Clinton, IL passed away 12:10 PM December 6, 2021 at the Warner Hospital & Health Services, Clinton, IL.

 

Private Family Graveside Services will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 at DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, IL with military honors. Public Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Friday, December 10, 2021 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the DeWitt Co. 4-H Fair Board Assoc.

 

Frederick was born May 14, 1931 in Clinton, IL the son of Fred and Sybil (Provin) Enos. He married Donna Weikel on November 22, 1951 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Donna Enos, Clinton, IL; children, Vickie (Joe) Austin, Clinton, IL and Daniel (Jackie) Enos, Clinton, IL; granddaughter, Danielle (Brant) Hendricks, St. Joseph, IL; great grandchildren, Logan Ridgeway, Levi Ridgeway, and Riley Rice; sisters, Laura Fluty, Bloomington, IL and Arline Luck, Lincoln, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Cletus Ridgeway.

 

Frederick was a US Army veteran serving his country during the Korean Conflict earning three Bronze Service Stars. He was a retired Locomotive Engineer for the Illinois Central Railroad and a retired farmer.

Linda Clevenger

Linda (Miller) Clevenger, 77 of Kenney, IL passed away 2:40 PM December 5, 2021 at Aperion Care, Toluca, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Friday, December 17, 2021 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 AM, Friday, December 17, 2021 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Texas Township Cemetery, Clinton, IL.

Linda was born May 2, 1944 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Lee William and Evelyn Lucille (Redman) Miller. She married Richard Newman and later married Thomas Clevenger.

 

Survivors include her husband, Tom Clevenger, Sterling, MI, son, Shanon (Darci) Newman, Clinton, IL, stepdaughter, Melissa (Brian) Lundberg, Knoxville, TN, grandchildren, Cole Newman, San Antonio TX, and Braden Newman and Alec Newman both of Clinton, IL, step-grandchildren, Blythe Lundberg, Elyse Lundberg, Allyson Lundberg, and Abigayle Lundberg, sister, Marlyn Dudley, Phoenix, AZ.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Blake Newman, one brother, Carl “Bud” Miller and one sister, Wanda Moye.

 

Linda loved to make quilts, gardening, and her dogs.

Thomas M. Followell

 Thomas M. Followell, 76 of Clinton, IL passed away 5:15 PM December 7, 2021 at his family home in Clinton, IL.

 

Graveside services will be 1 PM, Monday, December 13, 2021 at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

 

Memorials may be directed to Tom Followell Memorial Fund.

 

Tom was born June 8, 1945 in Weldon, IL the son of Fred “Jake” and Geneva (Gallway) Followell. He married Charlene Scogin October 11, 1963 in Clinton, IL. She passed away March 23, 2017.

 

Survivors include his children: Genita Hawes, Clinton, IL; Sue Followell, Clinton, IL; and Chopper Followell, Clinton, IL; longtime companion, Marica Pense, Maroa, IL; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren; along with 3 sisters and 1 brother.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandchild, 1 great grandchild, and 5 siblings.

 

Tom was a union operator and truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Clinton Eagles Lodge.  He enjoyed feeding the squirrels and taking care of the feral kittens in the neighborhood. Tom loved sitting in his front yard and watching everyone driving by and waving.  Most of all Tom loved spending time with his grandchildren.
