William “Bill” Chrispen, 64 of Hallsville, IL passed away 7:20 PM March 25, 2023 at his family home in Hallsville, IL.

Services will be 10 AM, Friday, March 31, 2023 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Alton Smith officiating. Burial will follow at DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the funeral home.

William was born April 4, 1958 in Clinton, IL the son of Charles and Betty Louise (Bourne) Chrispen. He married Kim Morris May 4, 1991 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Kim Chrispen, Hallsville, IL; children:  Jeremy (Jessica) Chrispen, Clinton, IL; Amber (Kevin) Taylor, Clinton, IL; Nicholas (Jaime) Chrispen, Pana, IL; and William (Heather) Chrispen, Jr., Kenney, IL; 12 grandchildren:  Callen, Kiana, Kadence, Kyndall, Noel, Brayden, Autumn, Blake, Kaitlynn, Bailee, Mikenna, and Abigail; mother, Betty L. Chrispen, Clinton, IL; and siblings, Bob (Pam) Chrispen, DeWitt, Il.; and Carolyn Maple, Clinton, Il.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Chrispen; son, Charles Allen Chrispen; and brother, Rick Chrispen.

Bill worked in agriculture most of his life.  He enjoyed horses and coon hunting, but he especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Karen S. Beery, 81 of Clinton, IL, passed away 3:13 AM March 25, 2023 at Henry & Jane Vonderlieth Living Center, Mt. Pulaski, IL.

Karen was born February 14, 1942 in Vandalia, IL the daughter of Dale and Freda (McNichol) Ballance. She married Carl L. Beery August 31, 1961 in Mt. Vernon, IL. He passed away December 23, 2013.

Survivors include her daughters, Vicky (Rick) Burrell, Clinton, IL; Debora Carson, Clinton, IL; Tammi Beery, Puyallup, WA, 5 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, brothers, Jerry (Rita) Ballance, Salem, IL; Tom Ballance, MO, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Ballance, West Chicago, IL, along with several nieces and nephews. 

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Freda Ballance, brother, David Ballance, and son-in-law, Bill Carson. 

Karen assisted her husband, Rev. Carl Beery, in ministry since 1968 with 15 of those years under Rev. Richard Gray at Full Tabernacle in Heyworth, IL. She had taught Sunday School for 50 years. Karen’s love was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her passion was talking to anyone about God.

Nancy C. Winebrinner, 65, of Clinton, IL passed away 6:08 PM March 20, 2023 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Jonathan Roberson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.

Nancy was born September 29, 1957 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Richard and Mary (Huff) Whitehouse.

Survivors include life partner, Mark A. Moore, Clinton, IL; children, Chris Lee Winebrinner, Clinton, IL, Richard Winebrinner, Clinton, IL, Austin Whitehouse, Clinton, IL; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Dianna Martin, Clinton, IL and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, children, Nancy Carol Massey and Eric Michael Winebrinner, and sister, Patricia Whitehouse.

She worked at Crestview Nursing Home and Manor Court of Clinton, IL. She loved spending time with her family.

John “Jack” L. Colliver, 92, of Wapella, Illinois passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 surrounded by family.

John was born June 14, 1930, in Parnell, Illinois, the son of John and Blanche (Maiden) Colliver, and married the love of his life, Laura E. Jones, on June 17, 1951, in Perry, Missouri.

John is survived by his wife. They were married 71 years. Also surviving are four children, Jackie (Bob) Boring, Mike (Karen) Colliver, Tammy (Rich) Doner, Brenda (Dennis) Underwood; grandchildren, Shannon (Mitch) Whitson, Lacy (Beau) Boudreau, Alicia (Eric) Bunting, Jeremiah (Amy) Doner, Amber (Billy) Rutledge, Hillary (JD) Lambert, Lance (Ava) Underwood, Jacob Underwood, Whitney Underwood; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harold Colliver.

John was in the army and served his country in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Clinton VFW.

He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1993. He was a Jack of all trades. He was always building things and doing projects. He enjoyed camping and coffee with his buddies. He enjoyed supporting his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids at their events. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

A visitation will be held at Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton, Illinois, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a service on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home officiated by Jim Kilson. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery with Military Honors.

Our family would like to thank everyone at Imboden Creek Living Center and Bonnie Schmid for her care and many visits.

Teresa was born April 19, 1962 in Shelbyville, IL the daughter of Clarice and Darlene (Rhodes) Deal. She married Brad McCool December 27, 1980 in Decatur, IL.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents.

Teresa worked in the Stock Transfer Division of Hickory Point Bank, Decatur, IL for 21 years.  She enjoyed swimming with her family in their pool, her animals, golf cart rides, and family cookouts. 

Teresa was a pillar of strength and an example to many of what it means to love unconditionally.  She was an amazing wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandma.   Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and watching her grandkid’s sporting events.

Janet (Ginther) Motsinger, 77, passed away peacefully in her home March 8, 2023.

Private Family Graveside services will be held at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Janet was born on November 4, 1945 in Avon, IL to the parents of Eldon and Marie (Farrar) Ginther. After high school, she obtained her nursing degree as a Registered Nurse from Graham Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, IL. She then met and married her husband, Roger, in Canton in 1967. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in January 2018.

Following graduation, she became an industrial nurse for International Harvester in Canton, followed by working as an office nurse for several doctors at the Coleman Clinic. In 1982, Janet’s husband was transferred to the Caterpillar plant in Decatur, IL and the family moved to Clinton. After moving, Janet was employed as site nurse for Baldwin at the Clinton Power Station during the construction phase. Later, she was employed as a medical case manager by AIHRS in Springfield. Lastly, she worked independently for eight years as a medical case manager before retiring in 1999.

Janet leaves behind a brother, Scott (Rosie) Ginther of Bettendorf, IA, two daughters, Erika (Thomas Lane) Motsinger, Abby (Dave) Waters and two grandchildren whom she adored, Sophie Waters and Hudson Waters all of Clinton. She also leaves behind her beloved rescue cat of 18 years, Bella, who comforted her even during her last days.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Janet’s hobbies included flower gardening, cooking and baking, cross-stitch, bird watching and puzzle books. She thoroughly enjoyed desserts and sweets, old episodes of Saturday Night Live and the band Queen!

John Leo Walsh, 91, of Wapella, IL peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Liberty Village in Clinton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Wapella, IL with Rev. Fr. John Horton Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wapella, IL. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

John was born July 29, 1931, in Bloomington, IL the son of Leo and Julia Kelley Walsh. He was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Walsh (Robert) Salmond.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Kathleen Salmond and Christine Salmond, Normal; Janet (Thomas) Paley, St. Louis, MO; Michael Salmond and John Salmond Denver, CO. His great-niece and nephew, Julia Paley (Chen) Hakak Seattle, WA and Stephen Paley St. Louis, MO, and his great-great niece, Romi Hakak.

John graduated from the University of Notre Dame Business School in 1953. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. John spent his life farming and could talk for hours about farming with his friends and neighbors. John was on the board at John Warner Bank in Clinton.

Although John never married, he was very much a devoted family man. He had a special interest in preserving his Irish family’s heritage and loved to share stories about his ancestors. His memory was amazing, and he could recite the time and place of family events, birthdays, and birthplaces. He and his stories will be missed.

William P. Schleder, 78, of Maroa, IL passed away February 28, 2023, in Melbourne Beach, FL.

William was born February 12, 1945 in Lincoln, IL, the son of Marion L. and Lorraine A. (Groth) Schleder. He married Helen K. Voyles on May 28, 1966 in Lincoln, IL.

Survivors include his wife Helen K. Schleder, Melbourne Beach, FL; children, Brian P. Schleder, Bryan, OH, Chad E. Schleder, Normal, IL, and Angela D. Haws, Rexburg, ID; grandchildren, Kaylin Webster, Dakota Haws, Ryan Haws, Sierra Schleder, Brianna Schleder, Lindsey Schleder, and Luke Schleder; step grandchildren, Jessie and Kristen Leonard; great-granddaughter, Isla Webster; sister, Janet Semple; and brother-in-law, Jim Howard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Delmar and James Schleder, one sister, Geneva Howard, and one great-grandchild, Emerson Webster.

William managed the Texaco gas station in Lincoln, IL for 10 years and then worked for Firestone Tire, Decatur, IL until his retirement. He hobby farmed 40 acres of land and as a result of his love of playing in the dirt, he worked as a farmhand for his neighbor and friend Verneal Leggett.

Bill enjoyed people and always met them with a smile. He lived his life with purpose and integrity, a hard worker, never missing a moment to share a life lesson, give encouragement, and show his love. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. When asked why, he said that it was all about good food and being with family. His absence from this world will be deeply felt by many; we are all better for knowing and loving him.

Betty was born June 11, 1938 in Kenney, IL the daughter of Leroy S. “Roy” and Evelyn Fern (Dever) Morse. She married Robert Dean Taylor April 6, 1957 in Kenney, IL. He passed away July 14, 1992. She later married John William Gaultney April 18, 1996 in Clinton, IL. He passed away August 24, 2009.

Survivors include her children: David (Cheryle) Taylor, Clinton, IL; Marcia (John) Wise, Clinton, IL; and Jim (Cindy) Taylor, Clinton, IL; and Paul Aaron (Amy) Goddard, Hudson, IL who was like a son to Betty; 12 grandchildren:  Bobby (Rachel) Taylor, Katie (Adam) Akeman, Taylor Quinn (Nicole Harris), Angie (Brandon) Curtis, Clayton (Devin) Quinn, Travis Quinn, Heather Wise, Meghan (Tim) Baker, Emily Taylor, Kyle Taylor, Alicia Gaultney, and Johnathan Gaultney; 11 great-grandchildren:  Justin, Jadon, and Ivy Akeman; Jaxon, Asher and Nyah Taylor; Preston, Parker, and Avalyn Curtis; Blaise Baker, and Kearington Hardwick; and siblings, Dallas “Mike” Morse and Joan Morse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, Bob, Andy, Bill, and Mac Morse; sisters, Kate Bruce and Jean Langley; stepsons, Johnny Lynn Gaultney and Scott Gaultney; and special best friend, Richard Tuggle.

Betty was homemaker.  She loved, fed, and spoiled her grandchildren.  Betty also loved her precious dogs Sugar and Sam.  She enjoyed holidays with her family.  She was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton, IL and attended the First Christian Church Young at Heart Programs and went on trips with them.  Betty also enjoyed going to the Friendship Center and traveling with Joyce Mathias and the Kenney Group.  She was a member of the Clinton Rollaway Ramblers Square Dance Club.  Most of all Betty loved spending time with her family and friends.
