Barbara Ann Ely-Beasley 76 of Clinton, IL passed away 11:09 A.M. October 30, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 12 – 2 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Barbara was born November 4, 1941 in Evanston, IL the daughter of Paul and Sadie (Thompson) Neal. She married Thomas Lee Ely June 28, 1959 in Clinton, IL. He passed away May 1, 2001. She later married Thomas J. Beasley January 11, 2003 in Clinton, IL. He passed away April 7, 2005.

Survivors include her children, Brian (Andrea) Ely, Frisco, TX; Brenda (Don) Woelfel, Bethalto, IL; Karen (Mike) Mandrell, Forsyth, IL; Janet (David) Peistrup, DesPeres, MO;
9 grandchildren, and special friend, Duane Glenn, Clinton, IL. 

Barbara was a member of the First Christian Church and the church choir. She enjoyed knitting and quilting and was a member of the Salt Creek Patch Makers.

Mildred I. “Millie” Cline, 97, of Heyworth, Illinois, went to be with The Lord at 3:22 P.M. Monday, October 29, 2018, at her home in Heyworth, Illinois.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Heyworth, Illinois, with Rev. Richard Gray officiating. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cline was born August 1, 1921, in Grayson County, Kentucky, to Minor A. and Maude E. Harrell Butler. She married Leo T. Cline on June 11, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas. He passed away November 11, 1989.

She is survived by her son, Douglas (Jamie) Cline of Heyworth, Illinois; daughters, Peg Cline of Heyworth, Illinois, Deb Coakley of Heyworth, Illinois, and Beth (Gary) Miller of Normal, Illinois; stepson, Ron (Judie) Cline of Heyworth, Illinois; stepdaughter, Jackie Lang of Seabrook, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 1 great-great-grandson; and sister, Pat (Francis) Smith of Le Roy, Illinois.

Mrs. Cline was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, 1 granddaughter, and 1 son-in-law.

Millie was a member of the United Church of Heyworth. She was an avid reader and bowler and a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities. 

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister. She will be missed by all.

Dorothy M. Laatsch, 93, passed away on October 26, 2018 at 5:30 a.m. at St. John's Hospital.

She was born on July 31, 1925 in Mt. Pulaski, IL; daughter of Theodore and Mildred (Harnish) Wolf. She married Richard "Corky” Laatsch on April 8, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by her son: Jeff (Connie) Laatsch and one grandson: Nathan (Stacey) Laatsch. Also, surviving are two great-granddaughters: Evelyn and Mina Laatsch; one sister: Gertie Leesman of Lincoln, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Raymond Wolf, and two sisters: Esther Maxheimer and Ella Williams.

Dorothy was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski.

She had a full life and many great friends who loved her dearly. She farmed with her husband and worked part-time at Stahl’s Furniture. She was a very social person, who loved being with her family and friends. She liked to travel and would do so at the drop of a hat. She was a member of the Mt. Pulaski Legion Auxiliary and was a volunteer with the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Services for Dorothy will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski, IL with Rev. Jonathan Buescher officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service (10:00-11:00 a.m.). Burial at Steenbergen Cemetery will follow the service.

Memorials may be made in Dorothy’s name to Zion Lutheran Church or School, or the American Legion Auxiliary in Mt. Pulaski.

Eleanor June (Miller) Mears, 93, of Clinton, IL passed away at 11:30 AM, October 29, 2018 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

Eleanor was born September 13, 1925 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Charles and Grace (Torbert) Miller. She married Chester Lee “Chet” Mears May 7, 1949.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette (Larry) Winebrinner, Clinton, IL; granddaughter, Hillari (Jeff) Harrold; great-grandchildren, Megan Wold and Wesley Harrold; great-great granddaughters: Sophia, Luci, and Zoey; sister, Donna Shuford, Texas. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son: Denver Mears, 1 grandson: Andrew Jason Winebrinner, sister: Margaret Pair, and brother: Glen Miller. 

After receiving her Bachelor and Master’s degree from Illinois State University. She taught school for 2 years in Clinton and in Bloomington District #87. She retired after 37 years of teaching and then was Supervisor for ISU student teachers for 5 years and substituted in the Clinton Schools. She was a member of the American Childhood Association, the NEA and Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary Sorority for Women Educators, and member of Homemakers Extension. She was a member of the Clinton Assembly of God, where she was involved with many teaching experiences and later was the church librarian. She loved going to Young at Heart and the Prime Timers.

Eleanor loved the Lord, her family, friends and teaching children. She will be missed by anyone that knew this wonderful lady.

Allen Sprague 94 of Clinton, IL passed away 8:46 A.M. October 29, 2018 at his family residence, Clinton, IL.

Allen was born March 9, 1924 in DeWitt County, IL the son of Carl and Ruth (Kephart) Sprague. He married Margaret Jackson November 2, 1942 in Lincoln, IL.

Survivors include his wife: Margaret Sprague, Clinton, IL; children: Jack Sprague, Centralia, IL, Martha (Terry) Deavers, Clinton, IL, Jane (Steve) King, Oxford, IA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter: Mollie Langley, daughter-in-law: Pam Sprague; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Allen farmed in DeWitt County and was a seed corn salesman for Hoblit Seed Company in Atlanta, Il. for over 60 years. He was a member of the Waynesville American Legion Post; Clinton Elks Lodge; Beason Sportsman Club and past member of the Beason Grade School Board and Beason Fire Dept. Board.

Harold Dean “Bud” Heinz, 83, of Findlay, IL, formerly of Argenta, IL, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018, in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018, in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL with Mike Carr officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Manor Activity Fund.

Harold was born on March 2, 1935, in Friends Creek Township, near Agrenta, IL, the son of Emerson W. and Stella I. (McCarty) Heinz. He attended Argenta High School and served in the U.S. Navy. Harold married Lorraine Jean Maxwell on June 20, 1965. He worked for the Schrock Cabinet Company in Arthur, IL until his retirement in 1998. Harold was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed coon hunting and mushroom hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; three children, Lori Holmes (Clarence, Jr.) of Shelbyville, IL, Lana Holmes (Clint Massey) of Findlay, IL and David Heinz (Kristin) of Windsor, IL; five grandchildren, Chris Holmes (Crystal), Brandon Holmes, Autumn Holmes, Nathan Holmes (Jessica) and Oliver Heinz; one great-grandchild, Logan Holmes; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings, Elwood, Gilbert, Forrest, Max and Avis Heinz and Doris Howe.

Mildred Catherine Clifford, 104, of Farmer City, passed away 5:50 a.m. Friday (Oct. 26, 2018) at Farmer City Rehabilitation & Health Care.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Farmer City, with the Rev. James P. Henning, OFM, Conv., officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Farmer City. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City. A Rosary service will be 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by Deacon Scott Whitehouse.

Mildred was born March 16, 1914, in Farmer City, a daughter of John James and Catherine Trenkle Clifford. She is survived by many nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Paul, and the Rev. Charles Clifford; and two sisters, Margaret Freeman, and Mary Magee.

After high school graduation, Mildred entered nurses' training in Bloomington. She went on to study dress designing in Elgin. During World War II, she was employed at W. Lewis & Co. in Champaign in the Millinery Department. Returning to Farmer City, she became active in civic and church affairs. She served the Bloomington Deanery of the National Council of Catholic Women as president in 1948-1950.

Mildred was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Farmer City. She served as the organist for Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years. She did volunteer work at Jackson Heights Nursing Home in Farmer City. Mildred also served on the Library Association Board and was a member of the Shakespeare Club in Farmer City.

To know Mildred was to be blessed.

Gloria Axtell, age 86, of Portage, formerly of Weldon, Ill., passed away on October 17, 2018. 

She was born on September 21, 1932 to the late Harold L. and Cathrine Helen Allan (nee Shinneman).  Gloria retired from Carson Pirie Scott and Kohl’s. 

She was preceded in death by her husband-Bruce; brother-Harold Allan; sister-Deloris Jackson.  Gloria is survived by her daughter-Kathy Gibson; grandson-Damon Twist; brother-Stewart Allan.

Richard O. Eastham, 75, of Le Roy, passed away at 5:30 P.M. Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at his son’s home in Le Roy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Bethel Church, Le Roy with Pastor Mike Bailey officiating. Military rites will be accorded after the services at the church. Mr. Eastham was born May 15, 1943, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Ollie and Zelma Irene Blake Eastham. He married Sharon K. Nalley October 9, 1965, in Le Roy, Illinois. They were married until 1990.

He is survived by his one son, Jeff (Lidia Navarra) Eastham of Le Roy; four grandchildren, Kyle, Cory, Austin, and Karlee Eastham; one daughter-in-law, Amy Eastham of Le Roy; and one brother, Paul Eastham of Bloomington.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Tim Eastham and three brothers, Robert, David and Joe Eastham.

Richard was a United States Marine Corps veteran and served during Vietnam from 1960 to 1964. He was a retired Railroad supervisor and worked for Penn Central, Conrail and CSX railroads.

Richard was a member of Bethel Church, Le Roy, the NRA, and the Republican party.

D.F. “Woody” White was born on April 18, 1943 in Decatur, IL to Freeman S. and Florence L. (Kaufman) White and joined big sister, Delores “Dee”, who was more like a mother than a sister.

While Woody hated carrying newspapers as a young man in Argenta, he had so many great memories of the people he encountered while delivering them. He also regaled us with stories of his days playing basketball while at Argenta-Oreana High School where he graduated in 1961. He could still remember many scores and who made the final basket. He also played on several area softball teams after graduation.

After high school, Woody worked at Revere Copper and Brass in Clinton before being drafted in the Army in April 1965. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in 1967 (lots more stories) then enrolled in Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel where he also tended bar (oh, the stories). After graduating from Wabash Valley College, Woody returned to the Argenta area, attended Millikin University and was employed at L. E. DeVore Company and Hatfield Electric in Decatur. In 1973 he began a 27-year career with Caterpillar, happily retiring in 2000. People were often amazed how he could rattle off names and badge numbers from his days as a timekeeper.

On July 18, 1970, Woody married Kathy Heinz in Decatur and they shared over 48 years together. Woody’s true passion was fishing and he especially loved staying in his travel trailer and fishing on Lake Shelbyville and Clinton Lake. He also enjoyed hunting mushrooms and snowmobiling in Wisconsin. And for him, the day rarely ended without a good bloody Mary or a cold beer.

Woody passed from this life with his wife by his side on Monday, October 22, in Decatur Memorial Hospital at the age of 75. He leaves his wife, Kathy, daughter Jennifer (Antonella) Quirina and granddaughter Eve Quirina. Also, special nephew Mike (Sue) Ferrill, great niece Lindsey (Sam) Hans and their children Michael and Hayden, great nephew Brent Ferrill, brother-in-law Terry (Connie) Heinz, niece Laura (Greg) Bieller and their children Matthew and Jessica and nephew Wade Heinz. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Delores Ferrill, and her husband Bob.

A memorial service to celebrate Woody’s life will be held on Saturday, October 27, at 2:00 PM at A-O High School Kimler Gym where he played basketball with Scott Marsh officiating. Military Honors will follow the celebration at the Kimler Gym. According to his wishes, a celebration will continue at Bargenta and Elm Street Grill in downtown Argenta. Gary Lee Jones, 66, of LeRoy, passed away at 3:29 a.m. Monday (Oct. 22, 2018) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

His funeral will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy. Pastor Bryan Tabb will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that those attending dress casually. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandi Jones.

He was born July 29, 1952, in Bloomington, to John “Junior” and “Lois” Funden Jones. He married Sandi S. Bratcher July 21, 1973, in Bloomington. She survives in LeRoy, IL.

Also surviving are two daughters, Keisha (Scott) Tucker, LeRoy, and Gara McCormick, LeRoy; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ed (Kathy Lowry) Jones, Bloomington, and Richard “Ticky” (Ginetta) Jones, Towanda.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Jones; and two nephews, Scott and Richie Jones.

Gary was a U.S. Army veteran and served during Vietnam from 1971-1973.

Gary was a plumber at Illinois Wesleyan University. He was a third degree Mason and a member of Bloomington Lodge 43.

Gary's family is proud that he was able to be an organ and tissue donor.

Karen Scott Hull, 61, of Farmer City, formerly of Bloomington, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 21, 2018) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Her graveside service will be at noon Friday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Downs. Karen was born July 4, 1957, in Bloomington, the daughter of Robert J. and Billie F. Gainous Scott.

Surviving are her mother, Billie Scott, Bloomington; her three children, Dana (Craig) Scott, Darien; Michael (Tena) Hull, Heyworth; and Matthew ( Karoline) Hull, Farmer City; five grandchildren, Olivia, August, Lucas, Marlee and Mackenzie; two sisters, Kimberly Scott, Pontiac, and Sheryl Scott, Bloomington, IL.

Karen was preceded in death by her father; brother, Kevin Scott; and her infant twin sister, Sharon.

Karen worked as a dental assistant for over 25 years. She was an avid reader; she loved genealogy and family history. She was a loving daughter, Momma, Nana, sister and aunt to all her many nieces and nephews. She was loved by all. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy E. Morris Hausmann, 83, of Monticello passed away at 3:35 p.m. Friday (Oct. 19, 2018) at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, at Monticello Christian Church, 1699 N. State St., Monticello. The Rev. Steve Ingram will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Ivesdale. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church.

Dorothy was born Jan. 29, 1935, in Arthur, a daughter of Charles W. and Mary Williams Dean. She married John “Chick” Morris and later married Charles Hausmann.

Surviving children include Michael (Joy) Morris of Monticello, Richard Morris of Franklin, Tenn., Connie (Dave) Thompson of Monticello and Kathryn (Pat) Weber of Monticello. Surviving grandchildren are Paul (Kali) Loggins, Anjanette Loggins, Brooke (Rory) Wright, Megan (Devin) Shelton, Paul Thompson, Tyler Weber and Justin Weber, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and a brother, Donald Dean.

Dorothy had a huge heart and served the hurting and the imprisoned through hospice and Jesus Is The Way Prison Ministry. Her time at the Piatt County Nursing Home was spent as a prayer warrior, and she spread much laughter and joy to all her fellow residents and staff. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life!

Carol Irene (Craig) LaDew 81 of Waynesville, Il. passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Heritage Health in Normal, Il.

Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Waynesville Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Ramsdale officiating. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Carol was born July 1, 1937, in Minier, IL the daughter of Fred and Hazel (Pleines) Craig. Carol attended Waynesville High School and her class of 4 was the last graduating class from there in 1955. On December 22, 1956, she married Steven K. LaDew. Together, they had three children. Steve and Carol enjoyed traveling together as well as spending time with family and friends. Carol owned and operated the Waynesville Grocery in the ‘80’s. She served on the Waynesville Library Board for 30 years, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Waynesville Methodist Church and a member of their Quilting Club and their soup ministry. Carol’s special interests and hobbies included raising a family and caring for God’s creation through planting flowers and gardening. Some of her favorite times were to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren engage in sporting events and activities.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, Steve; children, Craig (Joni) LaDew of Danvers, Scott LaDew of Waynesville and Terri (Bill) Culhan of Boca Raton, FL; 6 grandchildren: Karli (Doug) Yoder, Shane (LeAnne) LaDew, Toni LaDew, Jessie LaDew, Cassi Culhan and Jenna Culhan, 3 great-grandchildren, Cade and Emery Yoder and Gage LaDew; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Cameron, Pierce and Braden. She is also survived by brothers Wayne (Judy) and Kenny, special sisters-in-law, Margie Craig, RoseAnne Craig, Judy Craig and Jan Bryan, special family friend Cindy White as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Russell Craig and Alan Craig.

Carol was an amazing wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. Her generous heart and bright smile will be missed by many.

Rev. Guy W. Keysear, 69, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 11:28 A.M. Friday, October 19, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Illinois.

His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the Weldon United Methodist Church with Rev. C. Don Ferrill and Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the Weldon United Methodist Church.

Rev. Guy Keysear was born March 27, 1949, in Urbana, Illinois, a son of Charles R. & Guyneth J. Edwards Keysear.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia (Roger) Barlow of Farmer City; three nephews, Kevin Barlow, Ken Barlow and Tim Keysear; one niece, Tabitha Keysear; special friend, Sara Hiser. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rick Keysear.

Rev. Keysear was a graduate of the first graduation class of Parkland College, Champaign, Illinois. He received a BS Degree in Education from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois. Rev. Keysear graduated in 1985, from the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, Illinois. He taught Special Education at Watseka, Pontiac, and Le Roy. Rev. Keysear served as a United Methodist Church Minister at Cowden, Ogden, Chatsworth, Saybrook, and several other churches.

He was a member of the Farmer City United Methodist Church and a Pastoral member of the Weldon United Methodist Church.

Rev. Keysear spent a lot of time at the Farmer City Rehabilitation & Health Care as a volunteer and minister.

Arthur O. Mitchell, 72, of Monticello passed away at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday (October 17, 2018) at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana.

Art was born May 7, 1946 in Monticello, IL, the son of Glenn and Helen (Pierson) Mitchell. Raised in Monticello, he graduated from Monticello High School and Eastern Illinois University. Art held the Monticello High School high jump record from 1964-1975. He was awarded the Eastern Blanket, which was the highest award given for his performance on the EIU Track team. Art married the love of his life, Carolyn (Blacker) in Monticello on January 20, 1973. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary earlier this year. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Corey Mitchell of Monticello and Sara (Nathan) Reed of Dunlap and grandchildren Hallie and Addison Reed. Also surviving is his brother, Mike (Nanci) Mitchell of Monticello and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Art retired from the Eastern Illinois University Police Department in May 2008. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1970. Art was a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Air Medal and two Bronze Star Medals for his service.

He was an Illini, Cubs, and Bears fan. He enjoyed his children and attended all their sporting events, as well as enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time in his man cave (garage) and relaxing watching his favorite TV shows.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Pastor Kathy Sweet officiating. Roberta E. Krusemark, 95, of Lincoln, formerly of Emden, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2018) at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

She was born May 31, 1923, in Lincoln, to Ray and Susan Irwin Staats of Beason. She married Harold “Boyce” Krusemark on April 21, 1951, in Beason, and he survives.

Also, surviving are two sons, Jim Krusemark, Peoria, and Lynn Krusemark, Manchester, Mo.; one daughter, Karen (Rich) Yocius, Libertyville; six grandchildren, Molly Krusemark, Andrew (Betsy) Krusemark, Jessica Perolio, Erika (Alan) Krusemark, Richard Yocius and Mark Yocius; three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lyle Staats.

She started her 28-year teaching career in one-room schools at Tabor and Rosedell country schools in DeWitt County. She also taught in Chestnut Elementary School, and last taught at Hartsburg-Emden Elementary School.

She was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden and its Ladies Aid Society, Emden American Legion Auxiliary Post 506, Logan County 4-H, rural youth of Logan County and a longtime member of Central Illinois Card Club.

Roberta loved baking, cooking, sewing, gardening, camping, fishing and playing cards.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Emden. Pastor John Schurter and Ryan Edgecomb will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service, both at the church. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery, Emden. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home, Delavan, is handling the arrangements.

Nancy D. Coleman, 67, of Weldon, Illinois, formerly of DeLand, Illinois, passed away at 4:38 P.M. Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Mansfield, Illinois.

Mrs. Coleman was born August 8, 1951, in Clinton, Illinois, to Andrew and Marjorie Berry Duggins. She married Mike Coleman in November of 1971. He survives in Weldon, Illinois.

She is also survived by her mother, Marjorie Duggins of Clinton, Illinois; one daughter, Michelle (Kiel) Castor of Mansfield, Illinois; two grandchildren, Brenden Farris and Teagen Castor; and three brothers, Rick (Brenda) Duggins of Farmer City, Illinois, Jack (Barb) Duggins of Clinton, Illinois, and Burrill (Bobbi) Duggins of Cape Coral, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Nancy was a member of the Weldon Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Gay D. (Hendricks) Snow 86, of Taylorville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at 9:25 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

She was born on May 17, 1932, in Findlay, Illinois the daughter of William Ed and Guyneth (Tinnea) Hendricks. She married F. Lane Snow Jr. on November 24, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and later preceded her in death on December 20, 1967. They farmed in Christian and Shelby counties and were the parents of two children: Andrea and Michael Snow.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Assumption, IL, and later of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Taylorville. Also a former member of Lioness Club of Taylorville, the Christian County Historical Society, and Catholic Daughters of America. Gay was a resident of Taylorville from 1968 to the time of her death. She was employed in Taylorville in farm-related businesses; was a licensed realtor from 1974 to 1999; she was also owner-operator of an antique store on North Washington Street in Taylorville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brother: Norris G. Hendricks and nephew: Jason Hendricks

She is survived by her son: Michael Snow (Wife April Sievert) of Bloomington, IN; daughter: Andrea (David) Livingston of Clinton, IL; granddaughters: Megan Livingston of Madison, WI, Lisa (Chad) Olson of Bloomington, IL; one niece and one nephew, and multiple great nieces and nephews of Indiana.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. James O. Peterson 93 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 6:20 A.M. October 18, 2018, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Il.

James was born December 11, 1924, in Nason, Illinois the son of Guy and Mary (Baker) Peterson. He married Marjorie Belle Gilbert February 15, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, Il. She passed away May 23, 2015.

James was preceded in death by his Parents and two brothers: Marlin Dean “Red” Peterson and Bob Peterson.

James was an Army sergeant stationed in Germany. He retired from Revere Copper and Brass after 30 years. James was the owner of Peterson Radio & TV in Clinton, IL.  After retirement, he and his wife volunteered for Mobile Missionary Assistance Program for 25 years, where they worked on construction projects all over the United States. He volunteered over 30 years at Little Galilee mowing and painting. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.

Thomas A. Speciale, 91, of Atlanta, passed away at 1:36 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2018) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home, Atlanta. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Atlanta Christian Church. Maurice Stribling will officiate. Masonic rites will be accorded following the service. Burial will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Atlanta American Legion Post 341.

Thomas Antonino Speciale was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Towanda, the son of Antonino and Elizabeth Miller Speciale. He married Sarah Elizabeth Miller on June 30, 1957, in Armington. She survives.

Tom is also survived by their daughters, Sarah Beth (Scott) Peddicord and Suzanne (Chuck) Melchin; one granddaughter, Lydia Peddicord; three sisters, Marguerite Warrick, Betty Meeker and Charlotte (Joe) Gaither; and one brother, Robert (Lucy) Speciale.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Speciale and William Speciale.

Following graduation from Atlanta High School in 1945, Tom worked with his dad laying track for G.M. & O. Railroad. He then served in the U.S. Army. Tom was a member and past commander of Atlanta American Legion Post 341. Tom was also a past master (1964, 1987), treasurer, and 63-year member of Atlanta Masonic Lodge 165 A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the Valley of Bloomington Scottish Rite, AASR, NMJ, since 1955.

He was one of seven founding board members of Atlanta Bowl in 1963, a former Bowling Association secretary, and bowling coach for many years. He was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Atlanta Christian Church and Atlanta Fall Festival committee. Tom and Sarah were grand marshals of the Atlanta Fall Festival Parade in 2008. Tom had retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 48 years as a rural mail carrier.

Teresa Ann “Teri” Crang 55 of Clinton, Il. passed away 10:55 A.M. October 14, 2018, at her family residence.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Murphy; 4 brothers, and 1 sister.

Martha Gene worked at J.C. Penney, Forsyth at the Candy Counter and was known as the “Candy Lady” and later worked at Dave’s Food Basket in Clinton. She enjoyed gardening, playing organ, and crafts.

Daphne Jean Peavler 12, of Clinton, IL passed away 6:55 AM October 12, 2018, at her residence, Clinton, IL.

Daphne was a student at Clinton Junior High School.

Robert Dale Cook, 90 passed away on October 13, 2018, at his home in Loxley AL.

Bob was born on February 28, 1928, in Argenta, IL the son of Ivan and Faye (Dodd) Cook. He married Norma LeHew on May 28, 1950, she preceded him in death. He married June Myrick on March 22, 1975, in Okeechobee FL.

Bob was a Navy veteran of WW II and worked as a painting contractor. He was very active in his hometown, Argenta as a member of the Lions Club, Civic Club, a volunteer and past chief of the AOFD and a 32nd Degree Mason. After retiring, he and June moved to Okeechobee, FL where they managed warehouses and he pursued his favorite pastime, fishing.

Bob and his wife lived the past few years in the loving home of their granddaughter& grandson-in-law, Christine and Tim Willingham and enjoyed time with his great-grandchildren, Kevin (Ali) Willingham, Michelle (Brandon) Eubanks and his buddy, Jonathan, who he loved to share time and stories.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: June Cook of Loxley, AL, children: Tara (John) Fornear of Argenta, Gary Myrick of West Palm Beach, FL, Patricia Myrick of Okeechobee, FL and Doug (Marlene) Myrick of Rochester, NY; Argenta grandchildren: Audra (Steve) Heckwine, Adam (Jill) Fornear, Erin Fornear and Morgan Fornear; great-grandchildren: Tanner Kaufman, Braden and Cooper Heckwine, Cayden and Harper Cheatham and Beatrix and Piper Fornear. A total of eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who he kept track of amazing details about.

James Wilburn “Jim” Seets, 77, of Mansfield, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Le Roy Manor, Le Roy, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at the Mansfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Ed Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at the church. Services will also be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018, at Reed Funeral Chapel, Harrisburg, Illinois, with the Rev. Jerry Wells officiating. Mr. Seets was born December 3, 1940, in Rosiclare, to Bluford and Mary Rose Seets. He married Shirley Ann Bennett on May 19, 1962, in Harrisburg. She survives in Mansfield with their Yorkshire terrier, “Willy” Seets.

Jim and Shirley lived in Golconda until September 1969, when Jim’s work in wildlife research with IDNR resulted in a move to central Illinois to the main offices of the Natural History Survey’s Wildlife Research Department, located on the University of Illinois' Urbana campus. Jim thrived on his work and enjoyed a successful career until he retired on July 1, 2000.

On the day Jim transitioned to his heavenly home, Shirley shared her thoughts: “Jim and I have been privileged throughout our lives to meet many good people who have become lifelong friends. When I reflect on our 56 years together, God’s plan for us has become increasingly clear. Our lives have been truly enriched by the family and friends that God has put in our paths from birth to today. And I know that Jim is enjoying the rewards now.”

Charles “Chuck” Brainard, 83, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on 5 October 2018 in Springfield, IL while in ICU at Memorial Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, 12 October 2018 at Lincoln Christian Church with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service also at the church. Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Chuck was born in Princeton, IL to Ted and Ruth Brainard on 22 February 1935. He went to school in Princeton and is a 1963 graduate of Southern Illinois University. He has been married to Carol Anne (Hoffmann) for 59 years. He has worked a wide variety of jobs, including the owner of Lincoln Skateland from 1972 to 1979 and most recently retired from Eaton Corp in 2008. He was a US Air Force veteran of the early cold war era from 1954 to 1957. 

Chuck is preceded in death by his father and mother. 

Chuck is survived by his wife, Carol Anne; his son Charles E. (Sherry) Brainard, daughter Laurie E. (Lynnwood) Armstrong, daughter Linda L. (Tim) Jamison, daughter Susan J. (Shawn) Conver, son David A. (Amber) Brainard; his sister Linda Bickett; his grandchildren Brian and Katharine Brainard, Elizabeth (Trever) Nolte, Dorothy Maddan, Derek and Dallas Conver, Matthew (Andrea) Armstrong, Megan Armstrong, Rhett, Ryan, and Allyson Jamison; he has 5 great-grandchildren.

Donna was born April 23, 1934, in DeWitt County, IL the daughter of Lloyd H. and Edna Fern (Pugh) Willis. She married Billy E. Stone, Sr. May 8, 1953, in Pygott, AR. He passed away November 10, 1994.

Survivors include her children: Kathleen (Kenneth) Frick, Clinton, IL; Mary Lea (Jim) Harpster, Lake Charles, LA; Shirley (John) Fenton, Weldon, IL; Suzie Gaines, Sidney, IL; Lois Ann (James) Potter, Branchland, WV; Beth (David) Hawn, Bement, IL; and Billy E. Stone, Jr.; Clinton, IL; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sisters: Shirley N. Evans, Clinton, IL and Ludene Black, Taylorville, IL; brother, Michael Lloyd Willis, Taylorville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Penny Lynne Stone; sisters: LaThorne Leach and Betty Burris; and son-in-law, Max Gaines. 

Donna was a member of the Clinton Church of the Nazarene.

Wilbur Williams, 85, of Lincoln, IL, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at his residence.
 
Wilbur was born on January 22, 1933 in Brin Hill, IL, the son of Raymond and Opal Chapman Williams. 

He married Virginia L. Taylor on June 26, 1955 in Oblong, IL. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2008.

Surviving are three children, Donald (Marla) Williams of Lincoln, IL, Ronald Williams of Lincoln, IL, and Lesliea (James) Palmer of Mt. Zion, IL, and six grandchildren, Amy Williams of Springfield, Ryan (Allison) Williams of Lincoln, Valorie (James) Litton of Brownsburg, IN, Douglas Palmer of Springfield, Drue Palmer of Highland, and Sommer Williams of Lincoln. Additionally, Wilbur is survived by five great-grandchildren.

Wilbur was the principal at the Lincoln Junior High. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #263 in Lincoln for many years, as well as the Old Ivory Club, Llewellin Club, and the National Education Association.

Services for Wilbur will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at New Union Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the Lincoln American Legion Post #263.

Gregory Emmett Young, 41, of Weldon, IL., passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 in St. Louis, MO.

Greg was born on February 6, 1977 in Decatur, IL., a son of Charles and Peggy Hendrix Young. He married Tracy Kreher on July 15, 2000 in Decatur, IL., and she survives of Weldon. Surviving are 2 sons; Wesley J. and Alexander W. Young, both of Weldon, IL., his mother; Peggy Hendrix Young of Monticello, IL., a brother; David C. Young of Bement, and a sister; Betty Lake of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents; Warren and Betty Hendrix, grandfather; Emmett Young and grandmother; Peg McKay.

Greg was a volunteer with the Weldon Fire Department, an eagle scout, black belt, the neighborhood handyman, loved to remodel houses, a PTO dad, and motocross lover. Greg loved to make people laugh, he loved old boy junk, he was a fountain of useless trivia information. He loved to volunteer and coach at various sporting events.

Mrs. Norfleet was born May 19, 1941, in Le Roy, Illinois, to Floyd and Elsie Brantley Cline. She married Waldon G. Norfleet on February 14, 1960, in Le Roy, Illinois. He survives in Le Roy, Illinois.

She is also survived by her two daughters, Pam (Lenny) Glaub and Peggy (Jeff) Hart all of Le Roy; four grandchildren, Megan Monahan, Joshua (Mallory) Monahan, Ryan Douglas Hart, and Macie Whitehouse; one great-grandchild, Owen Waldon Monahan; four brothers; and two sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Douglas Norfleet.

Phyllis was a member of the Le Roy Christian Church. She had been Judge Ronald Dozier’s secretary for 30 years.

Doris Mae Slocum, 89, of Heyworth, Illinois, passed away at 6:58 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2018, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Illinois.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the Heyworth Christian Church, Heyworth, Illinois, with Pastor Peter Hopkins officiating. There will be a luncheon served in the fellowship hall after the service. After the luncheon, friends and family are invited to the Carl E. Miller American Legion Post 624, Heyworth, Illinois, to share stories.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McLean County Humane Society, the Carl E. Miller American Legion Post 624, Heyworth, Illinois, or the Heyworth Christian Church.

Mrs. Slocum was born April 21, 1929, in Colfax, Illinois, to Homer and Mabel Catherine Gilbert Munster. She married Thomas Hash Jr. and later married James Slocum.

She is survived by her one son, Ronald Thomas Hash of the Philippines; one daughter, Peggy (Dreux) Lewandowski of Decatur; three stepsons, James, Hank and Todd Slocum; four grandchildren, Caitlyn (Casey) Marlow of Palm Bay, FL, Shaylyn (Lewis) Schall of Decatur, Braylynn Miller of Heyworth, and Sahra Ashley of Australia; eight great-grandchildren, Maliyah, Colton, Lydia, Brookelyn, Emmilyn, Lacielyn, Madilyn, and Isabella; Jane Schmid and Jennifer Schmid were also a large part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents; a stillborn son; and three sisters, Dorothy Peasley, Betty Lush and Audrey Heck.

Doris was a member of the Heyworth Christian Church and the Carl E. Miller American Legion Auxiliary Unit 624, Heyworth, Illinois. She joined the auxiliary in 1984, and served the unit in many ways including serving as President in 2000 and from 2009 to 2012.

She held many jobs including lunch monitor at the Heyworth High School, Little Folk, Bloomington, and Sakcrete Concrete in Heyworth. She was also a large influence in her granddaughter, Madilyn Miller’s life. 

Doris was a wonderful mother and grandmother and mother to her pets. She enjoyed arts and crafts and sewing. Doris had a great heart.

A one-in-a-million man has left us. Wayne "Deed" Propst died Sunday morning, September 30, 2018 at the age of 89. He was a friend to all and made it a point to make the acquaintance of everyone he encountered. Then he became your friend for life and probably gave you a nickname. He was an active member of the Argenta community for many years, where he hosted many porch parties for elderly nursing home residents and his grandkids (adopted and otherwise) while waiting for the school bus. Impromptu jam sessions on his front porch by his dear friend Howard Mayberry were enjoyed by many. The entire Argenta community gave him a "Kiss Off" on Valentine's Day when he moved to Randall Residence (formerly known as Keystone Retirement Community) where he became a part of this close-knit family of friends.

Wayne was born in Cerro Gordo, Illinois "at home I guess, because they didn't have a hospital," the son of Wayne Delbert and Alice Ruey (Webb). He married Mary Jane Grace March 22, 1947 in Decatur, Illinois and they "honeymooned" at the St. Nicholas Hotel in Springfield, Illinois after being dropped off by Mary Jane's sister and husband and the next day they rode the Interurban back home to Decatur.

Wayne was a life member of the Painter's Union Local #288. He worked hard and played even harder as he loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, baking and golfing (most memorably his hole-in-one in Desert Hot Springs where they spent many winters).

He leaves to cherish his memories, his children: Terry Wayne Propst (Bonnie) of Decatur, Cynthia Lynn Pritchard (Don) of Pleasant Plains, and Christopher James Propst (April) of Argenta; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He loved his grandbabies dearly and taught them all to say "I Love PoPo".

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church where he was an active and faithful member for many years. Pastors Bill and Brock Abbott will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00 with the funeral service at 11:00.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mary Jane, brother Stanley Dean and sisters Nina Jean Yurecko and Joyce (Hunt) Fruit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wayne's honor may be given to Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Charles E. Turley, 89, of Kimberling City, Mo., formerly of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018, at St. Clara’s Rehab & Senior Center in Lincoln.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Charles E. Turley was born April 23, 1929, in Lincoln, the son of Ora and Ora Clemens Turley. He was united in marriage with Fern Smith. She survives in Kimberling City, Mo.

Also surviving are his children: Charles E. Turley, James Turley, Mary Turley, Robert (April) Turley, and Brian (Audra) Turley; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Charles served in the United States Navy. He had previously been employed as a mechanic at Row Motors in Lincoln and Central City Dodge in Missouri.

Richard E. "Cappy” Caplinger, 80, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. Clara’s Rehab & Senior Center in Lincoln

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln.  Rev. Jeffrey Laible will officiate. 

Richard Eugene Caplinger was born on February 26, 1938, in Lincoln, the son of Bert and Genevieve Pushala Caplinger.

He is survived by his children: Richard R. Caplinger of Evansville, Ind., Tami (Timothy) Kennett of Lincoln, and  Leslie (Mike) Hart of Delavan; one sister: Diane (Bob) Farmer of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; and  nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Michael Caplinger, and one brother: Ronald Caplinger.

Richard graduated from Lincoln Community High School and served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division.  He owned a bar named "Cappy's" in the late 70s for many years.  He volunteered as a driver transporting donated supplies to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, making several trips down and back.  He loved riding Triumph motorcycles.  He retired from the Eaton Corporation as  Electrical Technician in the Maintenance Department.

Richard is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 1250 and is a 3rd Degree Knight, the Lincoln Moose Lodge, Eagles Aerie # 2708 and American Legion Post # 263 and ABATE.

Memorials can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Carroll Catholic School.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home of Lincoln.

Graveside services for Henry A. Geske Jr. of Heyworth, who passed away Monday (Oct. 1, 2018) in Bloomington, will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. The Rev. Gray will officiate the services.

He was born Nov. 28, 1931, son of Henry and Alberta Geske. He married Karen Grant in 1965. She survives along with a son, Jeff (Michelle), Macomb, Mich. Also surviving is a sister, Carolyn (Clarence) Buck.

His parents, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union for 36 years. He retired from McLean County Asphalt in 1993.

He was a loving husband and father, and will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.

Kennedy Alicia Ann "Missy" Freese, 17, of Lincoln passed away September 29, 2018 in rural Logan County.  

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life held at 7 PM also at the funeral home.  Casual dress is requested.  Please wear Kennedy's favorite colors, yellow or pink.

Kennedy was born April 16, 2001, in Lincoln, the daughter of Robert E. Freese and Amanda Deilkes Chamberlain.  

She was a member of the LCHS class of 2019 and the LCHS choir.  She was a volunteer for the Humane Society of Logan County.  She loved cats.  She was a hippie at heart and believed in love and peace.  She enjoyed nature and loved sunflowers.  Her favorite colors were yellow and pink.  Kennedy's passion was makeup and doing hair.  She loved her truck and enjoyed riding four-wheelers and tractors with her grandpa.  

Surviving are her father Robert Freese of Lincoln;  mother Amanda (Chris) Chamberlain of Lincoln; brother Kyle Freese of Lincoln;  paternal grandparents Elizabeth Roy and Bobby Prince of Lincoln;  maternal grandfather Ed (Tammy) Deilkes of Broadwell;  paternal great-grandparents Betty Prince and Esther Freese; aunts and uncles: Andrew (Ashley) Deilkes, Melody Mileham, John Freese (Stacy Peacock), Michael Roy (Nichole Cutshall), and Mary Freese; niece Tessa Freese, boyfriend Casey Mollohan of Lincoln; and several cousins and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Betsy Deilkes, maternal great-grandmother Alice Rasmussen, and paternal great-grandfather John Prince.

Lillie Mae Duncan, 95, passed away on Sept 27, 2018, in Phoenix, AZ.

Lillie was born in Mt. Pulaski, IL to Archie Jackson and Ima Bruce Jackson Hilliard, June 20, 1923. She graduated from Mt. Pulaski Township High School. Lillie worked for Walgreens Drug Company as a Cashier, Bookkeeper and Auditor, retiring after 33 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL until moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1981, then becoming a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Glendale, AZ. She served proudly as Secretary/Treasurer for the Southwest Tri-State Chapter of the Third Armored Division Association (WWII Veterans) for 25 years.

Lillie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Howard L. Duncan, son Charles “Sonny” R. Duncan, parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

She leaves behind her daughter Joyce Michalowski and her husband Albin, granddaughter Michelle Michalowski, 12 nieces and 14 nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1pm Wed, Oct 3 at the Mt. Pulaski Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski, IL.
