Delores A. Billington, 81, of Atlanta, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (March 28, 2018) at her home.

 

A celebration of life visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. April 7 at the Atlanta Memorial Community House.

 

Delores Ann Miller was born May 18, 1936, the daughter of Donald E. and Vera A. Enockson Miller. She married Merlin G. Billington on Feb. 26, 1955. He survives.

 

Delores is also survived by four children, Theresa (David) Miley, Stephen (Penny) Billington, Sherrilyn (Hoot) Foss and Donna (Gary) Knight; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by one son, Merlin G. Billington Jr.; two brothers, Robert Miller and Donald Miller; and two great-grandchildren.

 

Delores was a 1954 graduate of Atlanta High School. She retired from Lehn & Fink after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church and enjoyed camping, fishing, knitting, and crocheting.

 

Memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad, Safe Haven Hospice or American Cancer Society.

 

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.

 Wayne Ackerman, 64, passed away at 9:42 p.m. on March 26, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

 

Wayne was born on August 21, 1953, in Lincoln, IL; son of Donald Dean and Evelyn Ethel (Wright) Ackerman. He married Debra Dee Mills Butts on June 1, 2002, at Weldon Springs State Park in Clinton, IL. 

 

Surviving Wayne are his step children: Adam (Kelly) Butts of Effingham, IL and Amy (Chris) Davenport of Lincoln, IL; three grandchildren: Lilly, Isaac, and Ian; one brother: Ron (Deb) Ackerman of Lincoln, Il and one sister: Susie (David) Starkel of Show Low, AZ; nephews: Chris (Katelyn) Ackerman, Craig (Ellen) Ackerman, Mike Starkel, and one niece: Missy Starkel; two brother-in-laws: David (Paula) Mills and Daniel (Sharon) Mills both of Clinton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Wayne retired from Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital as Plant Operations Foreman after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Railsplitter Antique Auto Club. Wayne was one of the founding members of the morning coffee club at Mama’s Arcade Café. He loved spending time with family and friends and hosting the annual peanut brittle tradition.

 

A memorial service for Wayne will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to service (12:00-2:00 p.m.). Memorials may be made in Wayne’s name to Dewitt County 4-H or Springfield Memorial Home Services Hospice.

Robert L. Ferrill 90 of Oreana, IL passed away 11:35 AM March 25, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 10 AM Friday, March 30, 2018, at the Argenta United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Pierce and Pastor Bob Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Argenta United Methodist Church. Bob was born January 12, 1928, in Friends Creek Township, Macon County, IL the son of Chester and Hazel (McConnell) Ferrill. He married Delores “Dee” White April 15, 1948, in Argenta, IL. She passed away July 25, 2013.

 

Survivors include his son, Mike and wife Sue of Oreana, IL; granddaughter: Lindsey Hans and husband Sam of Mahomet, IL; grandson, Brent Ferrill of Oreana, IL; great-grandsons, Michael Allan Hans and Hayden Samuel Hans; sister: Lois Hupp and husband Bob of Oreana, IL; brother-in-law: Woody White and wife Kathy of Argenta, IL; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Janet Frye of Argenta, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Richard and Orville and 3 nephews.

 

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. When he returned, he resumed farming for the next 60 plus years. He was a member of the Argenta United Methodist Church, Argenta-Oreana Fire Dept. for 60 years, being a trustee for the last 28 years. Bob was at one time active in the Macon County Farm Bureau Board, Argenta Masonic Lodge and the Argenta Library Board where he was instrumental in building the new library.

 

Bob and his brother owned a plane in his early years, using a landing strip on the family farm. He loved games of all kinds and was quite a competitor. He was so proud of his grandkids and never missed a school or sporting event.

 

Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bruce was born December 30, 1948, in Clinton, IL the son of Gerald Wayne and Shirley Colleen (Mattix) Wilson. He married Susan Goode September 26, 1970, in Weldon, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Susan Wilson, Farmer City, IL; children:  Geoff (Kathy) Wilson, Clinton, IL; Courtney Wilson, Champaign, IL; Eric (Brooke) Wilson, Clinton, IL; and Brad (Abby) Wilson, East Peoria, IL; 3 grandchildren:  Emily Wilson; Liam Wilson; and Jaxon Wilson.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Carmen Goodmon.

 

Bruce was a farmer, a past volunteer firefighter in Weldon, past Nixon Township Treasurer, past-president of the local Agriculture Movement, past member of the DeWitt Co. Board, past-president of the Weldon Elevator Co-op, and past member of the Weldon Lions Club.  He was also a past Little League and YMCA coach.  Bruce was a lover of animals.

Spencer Jeffrey Toohill

Spencer Jeffrey Toohill, 17, of Clinton, Illinois departed this life on March 22, 2018. Spencer was a Junior at Clinton High School where he was active in CHS Band and CHS Theater. Known for his inclusive personality and contagious laugh, he was an avid Cardinals fan and very instrumental in the growth of The Vault in Clinton.  Those closest to Spencer knew him as a genuine and caring friend who could always make you smile with a big hug or a joke.

She loved to travel, read, eat out, and most of all spending time with family. Raising her four children was the greatest and most rewarding accomplishment of her life.

Edith was born May 19, 1915, in Dixon, Illinois, a daughter of E. F. William and Emily Forster Luke. She married Chester O. Eden on May 5, 1937, in Harmon, Illinois. He passed away June 29, 1979.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. Clark of Farmer City, Illinois and Betty J. (Charles) Gilmore of Aurora, Illinois; five grandchildren, Jill (John) Flodstrom, Tammy Coburn, Trina Schaschwary, Teresa Jordan, and Tracie (Whitson) Morgan; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and three sisters.

 

Edith attended business college in Dixon, Illinois, studying bookkeeping. She was a member of the Farmer City United Methodist Church.

Jim was born July 13, 1945, in Bloomington, Il. the son of Charles J. and Doris E. (Sympson) Finfrock. He married Carolyn S. Green August 5, 1966, in Clinton, Il.

 

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn S. Finfrock, Waynesville, Il.; Children, Rebecca (Nic) Ciarcia, Tampa, FL; Amanda (Adam) Reid, Washington, IL; James C. (Becky) Finfrock, Waynesville, Il.; Shelly (Nick) Gardner, Melbourne, FL; 5 Grandchildren, Lola; Kennedy; Tegan; Chaplin and Carl; Sister, Carol (Jerry) Spaulding, McLean, Il; Brother, Larry Finfrock, PA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Jim was preceded in death by his Parents.

 

Jim was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church and the Waynesville American Legion. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the Army. He farmed all of his life. While many people spend their final days evaluating their regrets and should haves, Jim spent his surrounded by family and friends discussing all he had done or what they had seen him do. These actions and activities which only enriched the lives of others were wonderful to reminiscence on and hearing the laughter and love of those around him, especially his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends have truly been a blessing. 

 

Being a grandfather was truly Jim's calling, and his family was so blessed to see him blossom into an amazing part of his grandchildren's lives and a person that no one could ever replace in their young hearts and memories.

 

He taught his children the importance of marrying a true partner in your life. Someone to challenge you, support you, and to love so fiercely and unconditionally that you weather the storms of life with confidence that you will be okay because you have your family.

 

And last of all and most important the more hats you wear in life: son, brother, friend, husband, father, and grandfather, that your burden isn't greater.in fact instead that your shoulders become lighter, your heart even bigger, and your smile all that much more frequent because you are loved and love even more.

Stanley E. Snyder

Stanley E. Snyder, 92, of Chestnut passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

 

Stanley was born on February 4, 1926, in Greenville, IL the son of Charles and Kathryn (Bale) Snyder. He married Elizabeth Madden on June 22, 1947, in Normal, IL. She preceded him in death in 1975. He later married Norma Holmes Shull on August 12, 1978, in Las Vegas, NV. She survives in Chestnut.

 

Stanley is also survived by his children, Julie Cyrulik of Denver, CO, Christine Peasley, Janet Kissick, Dennis Shull, and Colin Shull all of Lincoln, and Kathy Aderman of Atlanta, IL; his siblings, Robert, Sterling, Betty, Dorma, and Sharon. Additionally, Stanley is survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

 

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, son, Timothy Snyder, four brothers, and two sisters.

 

Stanley retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the A.P.W.U. as well as a member of The American Legion in Chestnut and Beason.

 

A private graveside service for Stanley will be held on a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Stanley’s name to Chestnut EMS. Services have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral home, Mt. Pulaski, IL.

Mary was born December 21, 1931, in DeLand, IL the daughter of Charles Todd and Eva (Jones) Sprague. She married Richard W. “Dick” Smith March 26, 1950, in DeLand, IL.

 

Survivors include her beloved husband, Richard W. “Dick” Smith of Farmer City; daughter, Brenda Cox of Farmer City; son, Rodney Smith of Farmer City; grandson, Todd Cox (Lindsey) of Decatur; and three great-grandchildren, Tanner, Madeline, and Ainsley Cox. She is also survived by a sister, Wanda Bedford of Mahomet; brothers, Robert Sprague of Maroa and Joseph Sprague of Nevada. 

 

She is preceded in death by her Father and Mother.

 

Mary worked at the IGA in Farmer City, IL for many years before becoming a homemaker for her family. For over 60 years, Mary had been a member of the American Legion Axillary in Farmer City. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a great support system for those around her. 

 

She enjoyed rocking, cuddling and playing with her three great-grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed ceramics and hosting craft shows out of her home.

Hollie was born February 11, 1921, in Naomi, Kentucky, the daughter of Fred J. and Clara (Burton) Cooper. She married Claytus Dalton October 16, 1942. He passed away January 16, 1999.

 

Survivors include her children, Eddie (Starr) Dalton, Urbana, IL; Freddie (Carmela) Dalton, DeLand, IL; Clay Dalton, DeLand, IL; 8 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren on the way; sister, Elizabeth Colleen Miller, Cowden, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Hollie was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, and 6 sisters.

 

Hollie was a member of the Lodge Church of God. In her younger years, she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, quilting, cooking, baking, music, and singing on the radio with her sister, Stella. Hollie loved her family deeply and always welcomed all of them into her home with a hot meal, sweet treats, and open heart.

Mr. Poppe was born July 4, 1938, in Colfax, Illinois, to Walter C. and Ermal E. Harmeson Poppe. He married Barbara A. Mullen Grauer on November 7, 1986, in Bloomington, Illinois. She survives in Le Roy, Illinois.

 

Norman is also survived by his one sister and three brothers, Wayne (Pat) Poppe of Bloomington, Illinois, Alice (Jim) Sieving of Benton, Arkansas, Bryce (Sue) Poppe of Heyworth, Illinois, and Jim (Jane) Poppe of Arrowsmith, Illinois.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Madelyn Stauffer of Saybrook, Illinois.

Bill was born Nov. 3, 1937, in Ralston, Okla., the son of Ruben and Velma (Jones) Hopper. He married Erma Followell Sept. 18, 1959, in Clinton.

 

Survivors include his wife, Erma Hopper, Clinton; children, Bill Hopper Jr., Clinton; Doug Hopper, Clinton; and Lee Ann Price, Clinton; four grandchildren, Kristen Hopper, Britney Hopper, Ryan (Molly) Hopper, and Nicholas (Victoria) Price; nine great-grandchildren, Carson Alexander, Macy Alexander, Aiden Alexander, Reed Notaro, Hayden Hopper, Peyton Porter, Jackson Porter, William Price and Philip Price; and brothers, Ron Hopper, Ralston, Okla., and Tom (Carol) Hopper, Hominy, Okla.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Tonia and Tina Hopper; one grandson, Chad Hopper; and several brothers and sisters.

 

Bill worked for ADM and retired as a foreman; he had 41 years of elevator work experience. Bill’s passion was gardening, but most of all spending time with his family.

Joseph E. Daugherty, 65, of Atlanta, passed away at 2:31 a.m. Thursday (March 15, 2018) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

 

Funeral services for Joe will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home, Atlanta. Maurice Stribling will officiate.

Joseph Eugene Daugherty was born June 22, 1952, in Lincoln, the son of Rethel and Elizabeth Gordon Daugherty. He married Helen M. Summers on July 3, 1971, at Atlanta Christian Church. She survives.

 

He is also survived by their children, Kassi (Brandon) Compton, Atlanta, and Martin (Charity) Daugherty, Lincoln; five grandchildren, Austin, Erin, Cayden, Wyatt, and Khloe; his mother, Elizabeth; one brother, Tom (Pat) Daugherty, Atlanta; and one sister, Rosemary Bishop, Atlanta.

 

Joe was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Alice Atchison.

 

Joe was a graduate of Atlanta High School and attended Lincoln College in Lincoln. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Hoblit Seed Company, was a supervisor for Union Camp, delivered mail for USPS, ran his own business, and most recently was senior insurance compliance adviser for Nau Company Insurance (a QBE Insurance Company).

 

Joe was a longtime member of the Atlanta Rescue Squad and served as chief for many years. He belonged to Atlanta Christian Church, where he had served deacon. He was also a member of Atlanta American Legion Post 341.

Ruby was born on October 30, 1919, in Vienna, IL; daughter of Andrew Jackson and Mary (Miller) Taylor.

He loved watching his kids, going to Skyler’s sports, and girls dancing events. Scott was a hard-working man that everyone knew by his smile. He will be forever missed.

Deanna Jo Moore, 56, of Atlanta, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

 

A Memorial Service for Deanna will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta.  Mr. Maurice Stribling will officiate.

 

A time of visitation with Deanna's family will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Deanna Jo Mills was born July 14, 1961, in Clinton, the daughter of Melvin E. Mills and Leona I. Angel.  She married Russell D. Moore May 23, 2004.  He survives.

 

Deanna is also survived by her children: Roger Moore and Ronnie (Krista) Moore; three grandchildren: Seth, Madison and Chase Moore; one brother: Mark (Kim) Mills; one sister: Tracey Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Deanna was a graduate of Clinton High School.  She had worked at Casey's in Atlanta for many years.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Kathy) Harris of Heyworth, Illinois; daughter, June Harris of Pontiac, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a grandchild.

 

Marion was a member of the Heyworth Christian Church. She loved to travel and tend to her yard. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.

Judith was born May 17, 1939, in Arrowsmith, the daughter of John and Melba Robinson Miller. She married Milton Welch on Aug. 30, 1958, in Lincoln. She graduated from LeRoy High School.

 

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, collecting precious moments statues and tending to the needs of her children. When the children were grown, she enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas to play the slot machines.

 

Survivors include her husband, Milton Welch, Lincoln; children, Michael Welch, Tracy Welch and Brian Welch, all of Lincoln; granddaughter, Jessica (Adam) Kaufman, Stanford; and siblings, Carol (Don) Black and Dale Lee (Jackie) Miller.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Douglas Welch; and grandson, Justin Welch.

Wallace H. Reese

Wallace H. Reese, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at The Villas Senior Care Community in Sherman, IL.

 

Wallace was born on March 2, 1935, in Paris, AR, the son of Kermit "Ted” and Margaret (Cox) Reese. He married Nancy Benedict on October 16, 1954, in Chester, IL. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2016.

 

Wallace is survived by his sons, Scott (Lisa) Reese of Springfield, IL, David Reese of Lincoln, IL, Richard (Carol) Reese of Springfield, IL, and Kenneth (Celista) Reese of Elkhart, IL; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sister, Maxine Reese; and his son, Martin Reese.

 

Wallace loved all things sports. He was a member of The Lincoln Elks Lodge, where he enjoyed playing golf. He could also be found watching Illini basketball games and playing bridge with his friends. He was an excellent bowler, where in college he had bowled a 299 game. Wallace served on the Board of Directors for The Hope School for many years; he also served on the board as president. Above all else, Wallace loved his family; especially playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Services for Wallace will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL. Eldon V. Dierker, 82, of Lincoln passed away at 7:03 a.m. on March 8, 2018, at his residence.

Eldon was born on September 29, 1935, in Lincoln, to Vincent and Florence (Roos) Dierker. He married Patricia Kohl on August 14, 1960, in Bloomington, IL. She survives.

 

Also surviving Eldon are his children: John V. (Michelle) Dierker of Morton, IL and Ronald L. (Lisa) Dierker of Missouri City, TX.; grandchildren: Adam V. Dierker and Allison Dierker of Morton, IL, Matthew V. Dierker of Palo Alto, CA, and Erin Dierker of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Eldon was a lifetime farmer and tax preparer for thirty-three years. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, Treasurer of East Lincoln Farmers Grain for eleven years, Farm Bureau member, U.S. Army Reserves for eight years and a two-term treasurer at Faith Lutheran Church and Sunday School Teacher.

 

Services for Eldon will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with Rev. Mark Peters officiating. Bill was born October 2, 1919, in Clinton, Illinois the son of William R. and Nancy (Crum) Owens.

 

Bill is survived by his partner, Marge Hartman, Prescott, AZ; Sister, Marie Blue, Clinton, Il.; Many Nephews and Nieces.

 

He was preceded in death by his Brothers, Don Owens, Hubert Owens and Sister, Maxine L. Maltby.

 

Bill enlisted in the military in 1939 and served till 1946. He served in the Navy and saw many of the naval battles in the South Pacific. He served as a radio communications officer on 5 ships, including 2 flagships. During the Vietnam War, he served in Okinawa directing air traffic. He was awarded many medals including the “Bronze Star”.

 

After his time in the service, he worked 36 years for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller based in Hawaii.

 

He enjoyed traveling the world, square dancing and boating.

Raymond "Charlie" Huff, 80, Heyworth, passed away Feb 26, 2018, at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

 

Charlie was born Oct 10, 1937, son of Charles and Belle Huff.

 

He is survived by his significant other, Delora; two daughters, Tami and Mary; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by both parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

 

Charlie worked for the Laborers Local 362. His passion was his music. When he wasn't singing or picking a guitar, you could catch him fishing.

Floyd passed away May 16, 2003. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Roger Kelly and two sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Phyllis Devereaux.

 

Marian is survived by her four children, Maxine Hillard of Memphis, Tennessee, Linda (Richard) Wagers of LeRoy, Illinois, Nancy Lebeck of Henderson, Texas, and David (Deb) Spratt of The Villages, Florida; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Bill was born September 27, 1929, in Santa Anna Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, a son of Floyd & Bertha Duffner Maxwell. He married Marilyn June Walker on April 24, 1954, in Farmer City, Illinois. She passed away July 20, 2009.

 

He is survived by four sons, David (Sandra) Maxwell of Farmer City, Illinois; Tom (Kimberly) Maxwell of Farmer City, Illinois; Doug (Cindy) Maxwell of Mahomet, Illinois; Philip Maxwell of Ocean Ridge, Florida; seven grandchildren, Wyatt Maxwell, Timothy Maxwell, Blake Maxwell, Tyler Maxwell, Connor Maxwell, Katelyn Maxwell, Claire Maxwell; and one great-grandson, Aiden Maxwell.

 

Preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Maxwell; parents; siblings, Mary Rose McCartney, Dorothy Baumgart, Jack Maxwell, and Joanie Witt.

 

Bill was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was owner and operator of Walker Tire and Exhaust in Farmer City from 1955 until present. Bill was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmer City and life member of Joe Williams American Legion Post 55, Farmer City, Illinois. He was also a charter member of Fred G. O’Malley V.F.W. Post 6190 of Farmer City, Illinois.

Debra is also survived by her children, Jillian Kimberlin and Justin Kimberlin; her brothers, Thomas (Carol) Lockman, Robert (Jo Ann) Lockman, Theodore (Joan) Lockman, John Lockman, and David Lockman; her sisters, Elaine Cox and Mary Mouat. Additionally, Debra is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Services for Debra will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ron Otto, officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00a.m.-1:00 p.m.) also at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Debra’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

peacefully, from natural causes during her two-year residency at Liberty

Village Nursing Home, Clinton, IL at 9:12 PM Sunday, March 4, 2018.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Calvert Funeral

Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Randy Myers officiating. Burial will follow at

Elizabeth was born December 3, 1929, in Park Ridge, IL the daughter of John

and Mabel (Henrikson) Jacobs. She married Leighton "Lee" Earl Jorgensen

September 26, 1953, in Park Ridge, IL.  They met at Monmouth College in

Illinois where she was an English/Teaching major and were married for 49

years. He passed away September 7, 2002.  They lived in Arlington Heights,

IL from 1964 through 1999.  They moved south to Clinton, IL in 2000 during

their retirement phases of life.

 

Survivors include her two children: daughter, Karen Koontz, Rockford, IL;

and son, David (Annie of 28 years) Jorgensen, Clinton, IL; grandchildren:

Jesse Koontz, Richard Koontz, and Randy Koontz, and Bradley Jorgensen and

Christopher Jorgensen.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Betty taught High School English and later worked in market research in

Mt. Prospect, IL.  She maintained contact with her Kappa Delta sorority

for many years.  Betty enjoyed visiting and playing bridge with local

friends and was a member of the Methodist Church in Clinton, IL.  She

enjoyed time with friends, and especially enjoyed family gatherings with

her welcoming and extended family in Clinton.  Betty also enjoyed weekly

conversations by phone with daughter Karen through the years after the

move south to Clinton.

Paul was born February 18, 1925 in Clinton, IL the son of Elza and Minnie L. (Jones) Spencer. He married A. Marie Bradford October 28, 1950 in Clinton, IL. She passed away February 18, 2002.

 

Survivors include his daughters: Rita Spencer, Clinton, IL; Tami Spencer, Clinton, IL; and Tanya Bennett, Clinton, IL; grandsons: Joe (Ashley) Bennett, Clinton, IL and Sam Bennett, Clinton, IL; sister, Jean Sanregret, Portland, OR.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during WW II. He entered the service on January 26, 1945 and was discharged on November 16, 1946. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal Japan while serving his country. Paul was a member of the Lane Christian Church and was a farmer and postmaster in DeWitt and Wapella for 23 years. He was a longtime member of the Clinton Kiwanis.

Joanne Klokkenga, 85, of Lincoln, formerly of Emden, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Klokkenga will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden.  Pastor John Schurter will officiate.  Burial will follow at Hartsburg Union Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held at the church in Emden on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

 

Joanne Smith was born July 18, 1932, in Edmonton, KY, the daughter of Fred and Edna Harper Smith.  She married Harry Klokkenga on Nov. 29, 1953, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden.  He survives.

 

Joanne is also survived by their daughters: Debra (Loren) LaMar of McLean and Barb (Mark) Kirk of Washington; four grandchildren: Dawn LaMar, Loren LaMar, Jr., Lindsay Kelley, and Samantha Bell; six great-grandchildren: William, Aaden, and Owen LaMar, and Illaunna, Lilly, and Camden Bell; three sisters: Marge Wilmert, Sue (Cheng) Teng, and Nancy (Chris) Sprague; and one brother: Larry Smith.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Nell Tabb; and one granddaughter: Danielle Kirk.

 

Joanne was a member St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden.  She had worked as a telephone operator in Emden and in the kitchen at Hopedale Commons.

Arthur Donald “Don” Kemplin, 94, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 1:17 P.M., Monday, February 26, 2018, at his residence.

 

Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 2, 2018, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois. Don was born on July 21, 1923, in Farmer City, Illinois, a son of Arthur and Maude Applegate Kemplin. He married Nona Elizabeth Cook on May 22, 1948, in DeWitt, Illinois. She passed away on March 28, 2005.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Fred) Michel of High Ridge, MO; three grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert “Chick” Kemplin of Farmer City, IL and Vernon “Butch” (Margaret) Kemplin of Mansfield, IL; sisters, Bernice Lamb of Farmer City, IL and Bernadine Lentz of Indianapolis, IN. 

 

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, David Kemplin Sr.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Kemplin and Frederick Kemplin; sisters, Virginia Kemplin and Velma White.

 

Don served in the United States Army during WWII in Hawaii and Iwo Jima as a jeep mechanic. He worked for the City of Farmer City as the Superintendent of the Water Department for many years then as a backhoe operator after retirement.

Eleanor Lucille Barton

Eleanor Lucille Barton, 98, formerly of Lincoln passed away at 8:41 p.m. on March 3, 2018, at Heritage Health in Bloomington.

 

Eleanor was born on July 23, 1919, to Herman and Alvena (Milhahn) Rhody. She married Albert Barton on August 25, 1937, in Dixon, KY. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1987.

 

Surviving Eleanor are her children: Dewayne (Jan) Barton of Washington, IL, Gary (Vicky) Barton of Normal, IL and Donald Barton of Jetmore, KS; six grandchildren: Mike (Sharon) Barton, Mark (Tracey) Barton, Brian (Denise) Barton, Tim Barton, Megan (Steve) Castleman, and Abby Barton; 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

 

Eleanor graduated from Lincoln High School. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 20 years at Lincoln Developmental Center. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and was a member of the Ladies Aide for funeral meals.

 

Services for Eleanor will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Gerald Gehrke, 94, formerly of New Holland passed away at 6:32 p.m. on March 3, 2018, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, surrounded by his loving family.

 

Gerald was born on March 1, 1924, in Lincoln, IL; son of William and Amanda (Franz) Gehrke. He married Vivian Treakle on December 10, 1947, in New Holland, IL. She preceded him in death in January of 1992. He married Alta Wood in 1995 in New Holland, IL. She survives him.

 

Also surviving Gerald are his children: Marilyn (Karl) Turner of Normal, IL, Marj Medina of Issaquah, WA, Linda (Brad) Helgeson of Lincoln, IL, Brenda (Greg) Roosevelt of Glen Carbon, IL, David Gehrke of Kingston, IL, John Gehrke of Springfield, IL, and Diane (Larry) Cook of Lincoln, IL; step children: Kathy Moorhead of Lincoln, IL, Deb Faner of Shawnee, KS, and Diane Faner of Lincoln, IL; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Golda Mae Gehrke, one infant brother: Merle, one daughter: Carolyn Gehrke, and one grandson: Nicholas Schwalbach.

 

Gerald proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served in the European Theatre during WWII. He was in the 95th Infantry, Anti-Tank Battalion, and earned several battle commendations including the Bronze Star. Upon return from WW II, he worked as a district sales manager for Fuller Seed Company and as the elected Chairman of the local ASCS county committee. He then began a 25-year career as the County Executive Director of the ASCS office, USDA. After retirement, he served as a Bank Director for the New Holland Farmers Bank, and many years on the Logan County Board of Review. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland and held many positions at the church. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 715, National Farmers Union, an active member of the Aid Association for Lutherans. Gerald was a lifelong farmer in the New Holland area. God, his family, his Country, and his farm were very important to Gerald, and he served them well. He will always be remembered for his warm smile and he will be missed by all that knew him. 

 

Services for Gerald will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland with Rev. Charles Olander officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL and also one hour prior to service at the church (10:00-11:00 a.m.). A family burial will be held at a later date at Richmond Grove Cemetery in New Holland. Memorials may be made in Gerald’s name to Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland.

Tyler William Franz

Tyler William Franz, 43 of Osage Beach, Missouri, formerly of Lincoln, Illinois, passed away March 1, 2018, at 10:04 am at University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. He was surrounded by family and friends. 

 

Tyler graduated from Lincoln Community High School in Lincoln, Illinois in 1992. He then attended and graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy, St. Louis, Missouri in 1999. He was a pharmacist for 18 years most recently at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri where he helped to establish the anticoagulation clinic. 

 

He had a passion for lake life, boating and spending time with family and friends. He loved boats, cars, and looking for and getting a good deal on his "toys”. Tyler never knew a stranger and took the time to talk to others. He had a wealth of information about a variety of subjects and loved to share and talk. Tyler touched the lives of many people during his journey through life. He was a very caring soul and would always take time to meet the needs of others. He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. 

 

He is survived by his mother Linda Franz, Lincoln IL, and sister Delyn Duggins,(Brian) Bloomington, IL, nephew Bryson Duggins;, aunts Rebecca (Donald) Cecil, and Janet Johnson, uncle Gary (Sharon)Funk; cousins Aaron (Debbie) Johnson, Amy (John) Tabor, Ryan (Becky) Johnson, Katelyn (Chad) Lewis, and Taylor Funk. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwain Franz, maternal grandmother and grandfather Buford and Elvera Funk, paternal grandparents Henry Franz and Gertrude Munsch, maternal uncle Richard Funk and paternal uncle Marvin Johnson. 

 

Services for Tyler will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Candida Turner officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, also at the church. Burial at New Union Cemetery will follow the service. Marian Haseley, 95, of Lincoln, IL passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

 

Marian was born on April 9, 1922, in Lincoln, IL; the daughter of Otis Elmer and Cora (Wieber) Coates. She married Arthur Haseley on October 8, 1944, in Lincoln, IL. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1980.

 

Marian is survived by her children: Lynn (Judy) Haseley of Beason, IL and Marcia Greenslate of Beason, IL; two granddaughters: Debra (Raymond Allen) Haseley of Lincoln, IL and Kelly Haseley of Beason, IL; her cherished friend: Sarah Stambaugh of Beason, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Louise Davis and Lois Mayberry.

 

Marian was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, sewing, and baking, especially cookies and pies.

Through the years she was an active member of County and State Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, the Logan County Homemakers Extension, and the local and state Shorthorn Lassies Association. She was an avid supporter of Logan County 4H. She loved the Logan County Fair and attended all 81 years.

 

Services for Marian will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, IL with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to service (9:00-11:00 a.m.) also at the church. Burial at new Union Cemetery will follow the service.
