Survivors include her children: Susan L. (Ralph) Radecky, Kunkeltown, PA, Glen F. Jensen, Frankfort, IL, Aleen R. (Tom) Hammond, Tinley Park, IL, Carl K. (Brenda) Jensen, Clinton, I; along with 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and 1 Sister, Dorothy Gerth.

Nancy was a receptionist for Country Companies and bookkeeper for Orland State Bank. She loved to travel and sing; singing for 40 years in the church choir.

Donald C. Starr, 68, of LeRoy, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at his home.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 12:00 P.M., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, Illinois. His funeral will follow at noon at the funeral home. Don was born June 14, 1949, to Dudley Clark and Gladys Joy Harvey Starr. They preceded him in death. He married Margaret Kathryn Horn-Knapp on February 14, 1982, in LeRoy, Illinois. She survives.

He is survived by two daughters, Shelley (Alan) Waller of LeRoy, Illinois and Angie (Jack) Anderson of Stanford, Illinois; one brother, Allen Lee (Cathy) Starr of Lincoln, Illinois; two sisters, Mary Ellen (John) Mosher of Colorado and Tara (Ken Krauss) Hadden of Missouri; grandchildren, Sgt. Stephen (Kaileigh) Lake; William and Lillian Starr; Quinn and Kyle Waller; Jessica (Casey Horn); Adrian and Jasmine Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jace Kaeb and Grayson Lake.

Donald was a disabled veteran, serving in the Army during Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. He retired from Bridgestone/Firestone in 2003 after 31 years. He loved to go bowling, fishing, golfing, camping and traveling. Don and Margaret spent the winter in Florida for the past six years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.

Allison “Al” Perring, Jr., 86, of Clinton, IL formerly of Weldon, IL passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Liberty Village of Clinton.

Services will be 11:30 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson officiating with Military Honors to follow. Visitation will be 9 – 11:30 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.

Al was born August 19, 1931, in Midland City, IL the son of Alison and Margaret (Cox) Perring, Sr. He married Jean Gehlbach December 29, 1950 in Waynesville, IL.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean Perring of Clinton, IL; children: David Perring, Lincoln, IL; Steve (Lee Ann) Perring, Weldon, IL; and Kathy (Ted) Parge, Sugar Grove, IL; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; along with sister-in-law, Phyllis Perring, Cullom, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Al served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. After his military service he returned to central Illinois and began a life of farming. He was recognized and received numerous awards in agriculture, including a finalist for the 1979 Farmer of the Year “Salute to Agriculture”.

Throughout his life Al remained active as a community volunteer and leader which included positions as Dewitt County Republican Party Chairman (12 years), Deland Weldon School Board President (10 years) and numerous other positions including Nixon Township Supervisor, 708 Board, Sanitary District Board, 4-H Leader, Little League coach and official. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, 33rd degree.

He never met a person he didn’t want to engage in conversation about politics, family, farming or Fighting Illini sports. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend whose legacy lives on through his family and community.

Mary Ellen Frye, 58, of Lincoln, IL, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Mary was born on December 21, 1958 in Lincoln IL, the daughter of Thomas Eldon and Helen (Wade) Frye.

Mary is survived by three brothers; Robert A. (Robin) Frye, of Lincoln, IL, Charles L. Grimsley, of Springfield, IL, John Grimsley, of Lincoln, IL; lifelong friends; Lester W. Graber and John L. Harlow.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Kandy Ann Frye and Helen J. Taft and her half-brother, Joseph John Grimsley.

Mary was a member of the Open Arms Christian Fellowship.

Services for Mary will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL with Larry Crawford officiating. Thomas Kindred

Thomas Kindred, 82, of Ocala, Florida, and formerly of Beason, Illinois, passed away Tuesday August 15th due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease

Tom was born on April 11, 1935 to Edward and Nellie Kindred of Beason Illinois. He was the second youngest of seven children. Tom attended the little Mt. Zion country school first grade through sixth grade. He would walk to school and start the fire in the wood stove to warm up the school house before the others arrived. Tom went to Beason grade school for 7th and 8th grade and then Beason high school where he played on the baseball team all four years and on the basketball team the first two years. He was raised and worked on the family farm, and was particularly successful raising and showing sheep on the Illinois Fair circuit. Tom was a member of FFA throughout high school and was on the stock judging team, served as Vice President and as a reporter.

Tom married Judith Anderson of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois on January 2, 1960. Tom and Judy set up house in Lincoln where Tom was a barber and Judy taught school. They had three children; Doug, Rodney, Debra, and later an adopted daughter, Debbie. Tom also served in the Army Reserves as a cook. His next career was in food service management and he held several positions throughout the Southern U.S. with ARA Services of Philadelphia, PA.

Tom raced quarter horses in South Alabama, North Florida, Mississippi, and Texas in the 1970s. He found the tack, horseshoes and equipment to be pricey and hard to find, so he started finding manufacturers, buying direct for his own use and to sell to the other horsemen.

Tom and Judy moved to Ocala, Florida in 1985 and started a successful race horse equipment business, T.T. Distributors Incorporated, selling racehorse tack and supplies, horseshoes, farrier supplies, supplements, and everything you need for your racehorse. He was also an avid sportsman, frequently traveling and enjoying pheasant, duck and goose hunting, deer, moose and elk hunting, and salmon and trout fishing. He is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Debra Barber, and son Doug Kindred, all of Ocala, FL, his son Rodney Kindred of Pipe Creek, Texas, adopted daughter Debbie Poiroux of Kirksey Kentucky, and his sisters Dorothy Gosda, Doris Reinhart, and Joanne Lee. Tom had nine grandchildren. Tom lived a full life; he will be greatly missed.

Norma Louise Beggs, 95, of Mt. Pulaski passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Vonderlieth Living Center, Mt. Pulaski.

Norma was born on April 4, 1922 in Mt. Pulaski, IL, the daughter of Edward and Lydia (Epting) Gimbel. Norma married John "Jack” Beggs on May 28, 1943 in Mt. Pulaski. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1978.

Norma is survived by her son, Dennis Beggs of Mt. Pulaski; her grandsons, Brad (Becky) Beggs of Elkhart, IL, and Doug Beggs of Mt. Pulaski; her great- grandchildren, Justin, Trenton, and Kelsey. Additionally, Norma is survived by one step great- grandchild, Andrew.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Bernice Gimbel; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Beggs; and her granddaughter-in-law, Tiffany Beggs.

Jordan "Bud" Wright

Jordan “Bud” Wright, 81, of Leroy, Illinois, passed away at 2:59 A.M., Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his home in LeRoy, Illinois surrounded by loved ones.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, Illinois. A private family service will be held at a later time.

Mr. Wright was born February 5, 1936 in Eckerty, Indiana to Jordan M. and Wyoma Lane Wright Sr. He married Margaret “Virginia” Woodford on December 31, 1955 in New Albany, Indiana. She survives in LeRoy, Illinois.

He is survived by his son, Terry Glen Wright of Bloomington, Illinois; four daughters, Sheila Mae (Arthur) Montgomery of Taswell, Indian, Pamela Sue Cross of LeRoy, Illinois, Sherry Kay (Joe) Mullen of Birdseye, Indiana, and Laurie Ann (Dave) Johnston of Farmer City, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and his brother, Wendell (Elsie) Wright of Birdseye, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nineteen siblings.

Bud was a United States Navy Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from GTE as a Switchman and operated a small engine repair business in LeRoy for many years.

Donald L. Kline, 79, of Lincoln passed away on September 18, 2017 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, IL.

Donald was born on August 5, 1938 in Lincoln, IL; the son of Walter and Dorothy (Follis) Kline. He married Judy Barrett on April 17, 1966 at The First United Methodist Church in Owaneco, IL, she survives.

Also surviving are his children; Donna Holewinski of Neenah, WI, and Dana Kline of Lincoln, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donald was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln, a member of Florida White Rabbit Breeders Association, and a member of American Rabbit Breeders Association. Additionally, Donald and Judy were charter members of the Railsplitter Antique Auto Club. Donald Retired from Lehn & Fink, Lincoln, IL. Donald enjoyed spending time watching NASCAR races, as well as catching up on world news.

Services for Donald will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln, IL, with Rev. Kenneth Kramer officiating. Robert D. Milleville

Robert D. Milleville, 71, of Rochester, formerly of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at his residence.

Robert was born on March 8, 1946 in Lincoln, IL, the son of Robert A. and Catherine (King) Milleville.

Surviving Robert are his children Jennifer (Bryon) Feth of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jeffery (Autumn) Milleville of Sevierville, TN, Joshua (Tracy) Milleville of Springfield, IL, Patricia (Jeffery) Frick of Springfield, IL, brother, Donnie (Janet) Milleville of St. Peter, MO and twelve grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by parents and three brothers.

Robert was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer. He was a former commander of VFW post #755 in Springfield. He enjoyed, sponsored and owned sprint racing cars.

Services for Robert will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Rev. Mark Peters officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00-12:00 A.M. prior to services. Burial will take place in Zion Cemetery after the services where full military rites will be accorded. Bill was a Navy veteran. He always loved tinkering around with cars; fishing; water skiing; boating, and vacations with his family. Bill was a loving father; grandfather; great-grandfather; brother, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.

Marie was born June 18, 1918 in Philo, Illinois the daughter of John C. and Alice (Ruttman) Trost. She married L. Keith Shell January 11, 1947 in Champaign, Il. He passed away November 2, 1989.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Marie was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star #131; Order of the White Shrine Of Jerusalem Magdala Shrine #18; American Legion Auxiliary #103 since 1949; Delta Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority and the Home Economics Club. Along with her husband, they owned and operated Shell – Downs Motors in Clinton, IL.

Cindy was born December 22, 1956 at Gibson City, Illinois, a daughter of Freddie & Voda Marie Mott Osborne. She married Gilbert Allen Cannon on September 22, 1978 in Mahomet, Illinois. He passed away February 17, 2013.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacie Cannon of Mansfield, Illinois; daughter, Michelle Shoemaker of Mahomet, Illinois; stepson, Michael Cannon of Mahomet, Illinois; four grandchildren, Cole (Wife Kaitlyn); Kyle; Kayla; and Gaige; two sisters, Connie Osborne of Fisher, Illinois and Vatona (Boyd) Pruett of Salem, Indiana; sister-in-law, Connie Osborne of O’Fallon, Illinois. Cindy is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Fred Osborne.

William C. “Bill” Millhorn, Jr., of Argenta, IL passed away 11:30 A.M. September 13, 2017 at his home in Argenta, IL.

Services will be 11 A.M. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL with Pastor Bob Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL with military honors. Visitation will be 10 – 11 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bill was born March 7, 1933 in Argenta, IL the son of William C. and Dottie L. (Harrington) Millhorn, Sr. He married Erma M. Arnold March 31, 1957 in Decatur, IL; she passed away October 27, 2010.

Survivors include one sister and a nephew.

Bill was a1952 graduate from the Argenta Community High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He served as Friends Creek Auditor from 1961 to 1969 and through the years worked as a bookkeeper for a local grain company. He had also worked at Revere Copper & Brass Inc., the Laborer’s Local #362 in Bloomington, IL and one of ADM’s sub-contractors.

He enjoyed history, especially the civil war period, the Illinois National Guard history and the Illinois Native American history. At present, he was serving as volunteer historian for the 66th Brigade, Illinois Army National Guard with Commission of Brigadier General in the Illinois State Militia. On several occasions, Bill and his wife had displayed an extensive military insignia and patch collection in an effort to promote the US Armed Forces.

Survivors include her father: Jimmie Maiden, Monticello, IL; children: Ka’lee Maiden, Monticello, IL, Jesse Sloat, Clinton, IL; granddaughter: Paislee Maiden-Anglin; sister: Mandy Maiden, San Francisco, CA; aunt: Vera “Toots” Hansen, Clinton, IL along with her special dog: Starr.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Mae Oleson of LeRoy, Illinois; son, Larry (Lynn) Oleson of Bloomington, Illinois; daughter, Diana (James) Brown of Bloomington, Illinois; daughter, Judy (P. J.) Grosboll of Normal, Illinois; daughter, Brenda Friedlein of LeRoy, Illinois; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford Oleson of Yorkville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roy Roger Oleson and sister, Helen Sawyer.

Harold began farming at the age of 12 and for himself in 1947, retiring in 2002 at the age of 82. He was the oldest resident born, raised, and still living until his death in West Township, McLean County, Illinois. He graduated from Empire Township High School which later became LeRoy High School. Harold was attending the LeRoy Christian Church and was an eighty year member of the First United Methodist Church, LeRoy, Illinois, where he served forty years as the Sunday School Superintendent.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Heritage Health, Normal, Illinois and the Transitions Hospice Team for their extra care in his final days.

Harold never knew a stranger and was always there for his children and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten.

Gerald L. Williamson Sr., 68, of Saybrook and formerly of LeRoy, passed away 12:20 A.M. Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2017) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

A celebration of life event will be noon to 3 P.M., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Wesbein United Methodist Church basement, Saybrook.

Gerald was born Oct. 1, 1948, to Richard and Jean (Shubert) Williamson. He married Paula Remington on July 3, 1971. She survives.

Gerald is also survived by his children, Gerald Jr., Dee Dee (Mike) Politte, Bryon, and Jonathon; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Peggy (Mark) Clark and Barbara (Delmer) Nunamaker.

He was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Thomas and John; brother-in-law, Verl Jamison; grandson, Bryson; and great-grandson, Brantley.

Donald G. Rapp, 82, of Clinton, passed away 8:25 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 14, 2017) at Heritage Health, El Paso.

His service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. Tim Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Donald was born Dec. 16, 1934, in Clinton, the son of Glenn and Rena (Kennerly) Rapp. He married Carol J. Baylor on Dec. 17, 1955, in Clinton. She passed away Dec. 14, 2016.

Survivors include his children, George (Lesslie) Rapp, Clyde, Ohio; James (Jackie) Rapp, Heyworth; John (Donna) Rapp, Gridley; Paul (Tina) Rapp, Lexington; and Philip Rapp, Clinton; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, James (Alice) Rapp, Altoona, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; one sister; and two brothers.

Donald retired from GE, Bloomington. He enjoyed motorcycles, traveling, working on cars with his boys, and spending time with his grandkids. He took a lot of pride in his grandkids' music accomplishments.

Brian Powell, 57, of Orange, Texas, formerly of Heyworth, died Sept. 6, 2017, in Lake Charles, La., of cancer after a brief illness.

Brian was the son of Terry and Nelda Powell. He married Kristi Smith in 1979. They have two sons, Caleb and Wyatt, all surviving. Other survivors are his mom; his brother, Patrick; sister-in-law, Lori; nephew, Spencer; aunt, Reta Martens family; Dagley family; mother-in-law, Darlene Smith; uncle, Dennis Powell; and other dear relatives in Illinois, Missouri and Texas.

Going before him were his dad, Terry; his brother, Kyle; father-in-law,Wendell Smith; and grandparents.

Brian was a member of Heyworth Christian Church; graduated Heyworth High School; studied GM automotive; and along with his dad and brothers, he operated Powell's Texaco full-service station in Heyworth. He worked at Baum Chevrolet before moving to Texas. He currently worked at Granger Chevrolet in Orange, Texas.

Verna I. “Gene” Gockel, 97, of Lincoln, passed away on September 13, 2017.

Verna was born on July 9, 1920 in Boynton Center,IL; the daughter of Hermon and Sarah “Sadie” (Miller) Seaton.

She married Harold Gockel on December 8, 1945 in Pontiac, IL. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2006.

Gene and her husband farmed in the Elkhart and Mt. Pulaski area until their retirement.

Verna is survived by her children, Terri (Glenn) Shanle of Lincoln, Twila (William) Muhlach of Murphysboro, IL, George (Barbara) Emmons of Athens, AL, Galen (Teresa) Emmons of Columbia, SC; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Sanford, James, and Hermon Jr, five sisters: Leone Brennemann, Margaret Herhamer, Elsie Parr, Thelma Irwin, and Martha Tisdale, and three grandchildren.

Verna was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.

She loved spending time with her family especially her birthday reunions.

Charles F. Hamilton, 88, of Lincoln passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at The Christian Village in Lincoln, IL.

Charles was born on July 11, 1929 in East St. Louis, IL. Early in the depression, his family moved to McLeansboro, IL where he grew up. The son of Warner Floyd and Ida Gertrude “Gertie” (Renfrow) Hamilton. Charles was the youngest of seven children. He married Helen Langston on September 10, 1949 in La Plata, MD. After 33 years of marriage, Helen passed away on March 1, 1983. Charles found love again and married Marjorie Lee Thompson Wilkinson on December 27, 1986 in Lincoln, IL. She survives.

Charles is also survived by his daughters; Angela (Bob) Hentrich, Chillicothe, IL and Christina (Russell) Ashbaugh, Atlanta, IL; step daughters, Karen (Joe) Udwari, Punta Gorda, Florida, Amy (Stuart) Wilson, Portage, Michigan, Celia Aguilar, Daly City, California; and his sister, Anna

Lee Cox, Cumming, GA. Additionally, Charles is survived by four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, another to be born in November, eight

step-great-grandchildren, and one on the way.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen; three sisters, and two brothers, two step daughters, Rebecca Wilkinson and Peggy Swanberg.

Charles had a strong faith and loved the church and the Bible. He loved his family and his family loved him! He left a great legacy of faith and character for his family. He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church for sixty-five years serving in many areas over the years including but

not limited to; Elder, Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent. He and his wife Marge served with the bus ministry at the church. Charles was a printer by trade he learned in his father’s print shop. He worked at the Lincoln Courier, Lincoln Printers, Inc. Published the Lincoln Shopper and Lincoln Graphic. Served on the board of Inner City Mission in Springfield, served with The Prison Ministry at Logan Correctional Center, Head Start- Bus Driver and

Grandparent Program, He also worked with The Gideons to provide Bibles in prisons.

Services for Charles will be held at 10:00A.M. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00P.M. on Monday, September 18, 2017 also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in

Larry “Sam” Simonton, 80 of Cerro Gordo, IL passed away 12:15 A.M. September 12, 2017 at Kirby Medical Center, Monticello, IL.

Larry was born February 4, 1937 in Decatur, IL the son of Roy “Jack” and Anna (Wells) Simonton of rural Cerro Gordo. He married Janice Baker on February 17, 1957 in Cerro Gordo Methodist Church and the two always considered themselves a team in all they did throughout their 60 years of marriage.

Larry is survived by his wife, Janice of Cerro Gordo; daughter, Andrea Simonton-Gregg of Milmine; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Taylor of Monticello; two grandsons, Jared (Lori) Gregg and their daughter, Callie; and Jeff (Brianna) Gregg and their daughter, Lena, all of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kyle; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Donald Esker of St. Louis, MO; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Midge Baker of Indianapolis, IN; and a brother-in-law, Robert Taylor of Bement, IL.

Larry enjoyed his life’s work as a farmer in the Piatt County area and at the time of his retirement from farming had come close to achieving his goal of raising 60 crops. In the 1950’s, he became interested in raising and training Standardbred Harness racehorses and for many years successfully raced at County and State fair tracks as well as racecourses in the Chicago area. He remained an avid fan of the sport and especially enjoyed watching the new developing champions with their amazing speed and stamina. He made many friendships over the years that have continued to be treasures to him. He especially looked forward to afternoons playing 42 with his buddies.

She married Ross Ferrill November 28, 1954 in Clinton, IL. He preceded her in death September 27, 1989. She then married Robert Sprague of Weldon, IL, May 1, 1994. Dorothy was a Homemaker who farmed alongside her late husband, Ross. Then, later assisted her husband, Bob, with farming and his business, Bob’s Roast Beef.

Dorothy leaves behind her husband, Robert Sprague; daughters: Tina (Chuck) Leach, Toni Shoemaker, Tami (Jeff) Matthews, and son: Thomas (Tracy) Ferrill, all of Maroa; step-children: Linda (Steve) Fasick, Decatur, IL; Scott (Elise) Sprague, Penfield, IL; brother: Bob Carr; sisters: Annie Hall, Kay Carr, and Carolyn (Mike) Perkins; 19 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Robert Duane Finfrock was born on August 5, 1960, in Lincoln, the son of Charles E. "Doc" and Mildred Jean Brumfield Finfrock. He was united in marriage with Sharon K. Organ on March 19, 1982. She preceded him in death on December 10, 2014.

He is survived by his children: Stacy (Darren) Peifer, Ronald (Angela) West, David (Kim) West, Lisa (Quentin) Quiram, and Brian (Stephanie) West; two brothers: Steve Finfrock and David Finfrock; Special Friend: Shawn Bristow; ten grandchildren: Rylan, John, Cole, Tony, Nikki, Kaylee, Rondy, Zach, Bree, Braxton; nine great-grandchildren; and his dogs: Lucy and Oreo.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Bob graduated from the Olympia High School in 1978. He was employed at Bridgestone Firestone for 22 years. He took care of the Methodist Church lawn for many years. He was an avid Cubs fan.

Caleb Coogan ,12, of Mt. Pulaski died in an off-road vehicle accident on September 6, 2017. He precedes his grandparents, Jim-Boy and Judy Coogan of Mt. Pulaski, Il; Gary and Colleenn Cunningham of San Jose, Ca. and Peggy and Howell Estas of Glendale, OR; his parents JC and Joyce Coogan and sister Claire in death.

Caleb was a well-rounded young man, an inveterate tinkerer specializing in farm tractors big and small. He treated animals as equals, his dog Odie enjoying parts of the same meal Caleb would be having. He possessed the work ethic and most of the skills of an adult, having mastered operation of construction equipment by the time he could reach the pedals, and was not afraid of manual labor either, often for no more payment than lunch. He could count as his friends some of the top “old-school” thinkers of the area and always ready to help out, used their mentoring to great advantage. He was blind to age in his choice of friends, to the point of commenting once how he might like to have a slumber party, but feared some of his guests would not be able to get back up off the floor.

Caleb led with kindness and equality in all his interactions and in this displayed maturity far beyond his years. He leaves behind an unfillable void in his passing.

Services for Caleb will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday September 12, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski, IL with Rev. Jonathan Buescher officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Monday September 11, 2017 at the Family Life Center in Mt. Pulaski, IL. Burial at Steenbergen Cemetery will follow the service. Douglas was a pilot who flew MD-80 series aircraft for Midway Airlines and then retired from American

Airlines. He loved Cardinal Baseball, cats and Ft. Lauderdale by the sea. Douglas cherished his friendship with Jim Ensign and enjoyed reconnecting with high school friends. He was very patriotic.

Alma was born on January 3, 1918 in Foosland, Illinois, a daughter of Christopher and Hermine ?Minnie” Beetzel Warsaw. She married Herman J. Hassebrock on October 12, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois. He passed away on March 16, 1995.

She is survived by her children, Barry R. (Jana) Hassebrock of Bunker Hill, Illinois and Marla D. Jones of Saybrook, Illinois, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers; one sister; and son-in-law, Ed Jones.

Alma was a retired beautician. She was a member of the Immnauel Lutheran Church of Osman and the Ladies Aid of the church.

Mildred Berryman, 97, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on September 5, 2017 at Bornemann Senior Communities in Green Bay, WI.

Mildred was born on February 12, 1920 in Lincoln, IL; daughter of Emil and Tillie (Johnson) Hendrickson. She married Kenneth Berryman in May of 1941. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1981.

Surviving Mildred are her children: Linda (Art) Callesen of Green Bay, WI and Rod (Carol) Berryman of Ames, IA; one brother: Ralph (Martha) Hendrickson of Lincoln, IL; grandchildren; Chris Zimonick, Jeff Callesen, and Mark Callesen; great-grandchildren: Max Zimonick, Christian Zimonick, Cooper Callesen, Colten Callesen, and Stella Callesen. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Esther Ketz, and brother: Earl Hendrickson.

Mildred was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and Mission Society. Mildred and her husband Kenneth were the owners and operators of Thickson & Berryman Insurance Agency. She enjoyed spending time in her yard, and tending to her flowers. Mildred also found comfort caring for the birds that came to all of her feeders. Additionally, she enjoyed playing cards and attending the Oasis Senior Center in Lincoln.

Services for Mildred will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service (9:00-10:00 a.m.) Burial at New Union Cemetery will follow the service. Donna had been an administrative clerk for Unitrin Insurance Company in Bloomington, Illinois. She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Farmer City, and a member of Down Memory Lane Doll Club. Donna was an avid doll collector, Elvis fan and Fighting Illini basketball fan.

Leota Louise Lamar, 86, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Vonderlieth Living Center, where she had resided for the past four years.

Leota leaves behind her Son, Gary Lamar, and his wife, Jana, of Decatur, IL; her daughter, Shirley Lamar of Brazil, IN; four grandchildren: David Hughes (Stephanie) Brazil, IN; Deanna Clark of Terre Haute, IN; Darcy (Kel) Szajko, and Lindsey (Kaleb) Swarts, all of Decatur, IL; ten great-grandchildren; her sister, Lois Byrne of Chestnut, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hatcil (Buss) Lamar; parents, Boyd Hahn and Clara Hahn; three brothers: Boyd Jr., Herschel, and Harry; and two sisters: Helena Teichmann and Doris Koehler Faith.

Raised in Mt. Pulaski all her life she married Hatcil Lamar, on April 14, 1951 in Lincoln, IL. They had celebrated 65 years of marriage before Buss passed away on August 19, 2016.

Leota loved to be with people and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed hummingbirds and her flowers, but those paled in comparison to her love for her family, whom were her pride and joy. Leota was a lifelong member of Mt. Pulaski Christian Church.

At her request, cremation is to be handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home with a private, family graveside service to follow at a later date.

Kevin Roy Rustemeyer, 65, of Heyworth, IL was called by the Lord on August 28, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 11, 1951 in Monmouth, IL, son of Frank O. and Doris A. Vilven. He married Cynthia (Cindy) Hovell on August 14, 1976 in St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are two sons, Jacob (Kellie) of Heyworth and Jason (Ashley) of Jackson, GA. He leaves seven grandchildren who were the light of his life; Abagail, Morgan, Hannah, Colton, Reece, Cutler and Nash; a brother, William (Mary) of Normal and a sister, Sandy Adams of Greenville, SC.

He was a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and played on the Titan football team. He was a lifelong member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, a Freemason and 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite. He served his community as a township trustee for many years and was a Technical Sales Representative for 40 years at Illinois Cement Company, LaSalle Peru.

Kevin was a man of character who believed in always doing what was right and that is how he will be remembered. He held his faith in God as a beacon for how he lived his life. Kevin knew that God gives us strength for every battle, wisdom for every decision, peace that surpasses understanding and love unconditional. He would want his family and friends to take comfort in knowing that the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, we are still.

A good life is when you smile often, dream big, laugh a lot and realize how blessed you are for what you have. Never truer words were ever written about a life well lived. Kevin shared his heart with his family and friends and for everyone who knew him, he thought of them as special and important. Kevin’s positive outlook and approach to life will always be a comfort to us.

Cynthia L. "Cindy” Buckles, 61, passed away at 6;05 p.m. at her home in Mt. Pulaski on September 2, 2017.

Cindy was born on May 25, 1956 in Fairfield, IA; daughter of Eugene and Theresa Ryan Fahrner. She married John Buckles on March 6, 2009 in Lincoln, IL. He survives her.

Also surviving Cindy are her step children: Jeremy Buckles of Parker, CO and Cassie (Alex) Dahm of Lincoln, IL; two step grandchildren: Hank and Jake; one sister: Mary Mitzelfelt of Mt. Pulaski, IL; one nephew: William Smith of North Liberty, IA; two step brothers: Lucas Jagen of Fairfield, IA and Michael Skirvin of Batavia, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Theresa McKay, and nephew: Brandon Clark.

Cindy was the supervisor of housekeeping at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski, IL. She enjoyed baking, canning, fishing, music, and her little dog Quincy.

Services for Cindy will be 11:00 a.m. Friday September 8, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski, IL with Mark Weber officiating. Charles William Nauts

Charles William Nauts, 86, of Lincoln, Il, passed away peacefully after a long illness on September 2, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Norma "Norjie” Walker Nauts, whom he married on September 10, 1977 in Lake Forest, IL. He is also survived by his three children: Jennifer (James) French of Richmond, CA, Margery "Peggy” Nauts of Oakland, CA, and Matthew Nauts of Los Angelas, CA, as well as his brother Chandler (Bonnie) Nauts of Ann Arbor, MI, his sister-in-law Marsha Nauts of OH, and many fond nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Barrington Nauts.

Charles was born on December 11, 1930, in New York City, New York, the eldest of three sons of Merritt C. and Helen Kershner Nauts. He grew up in Toledo, OH, where his family moved. At age 16 he was selected to attend the Hutchins plan for gifted students at University of Chicago. Upon receiving his degree (PH. B.) there, he attended and graduated (A.B.) from Columbia College, New York, where he was a member of Sigma Nu and the swim team. He then returned to the University of Chicago for his law degree.

His long career in law led to vice presidencies at Chicago Title and Trust Company and Ticor Title Insurance Company, first in Chicago and then Los Angeles. He retired in 1994 from the Chicago law firm of Chapman and Cutler, where he concentrated on commercial and residential real estate law. Among his many professional activities, he was very active in the American, Illinois, and Chicago Bar Associations where he chaired numerous committees and published various legal articles, co-authoring two books on complex real estate topics. He was also proud to be a member of the American and Illinois Land Title Associations and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.

Charles also was a trustee emeritus of Lincoln College. He belonged to the Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln, and was a member of the Union League Club of Chicago, the Cliffdwellers Club of Chicago, Lincoln Elks Lodge #914, and the Kiwanis.

Those who knew Charlie will always appreciate his love for music, including his prodigious memory for verse, as well as his talents at golf, bridge and poker, his enjoyment of reading, and his openness to life-long learning. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and relatives.

Services for Charlie will be 10:30 a.m. September 9, 2017 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln, with Rev. Mark Evans officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial at New Union Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be made in his memory to Lincoln College or Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Freda L. McGee, 90, passed away at 3:10 a.m. on September 2, 2017 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski, IL.

Freda was born on April 7, 1927 in Buffalo, MO; daughter of Walter and Oma Ester (Cowan) Baker. She married Wallace McGee on July 21, 1950 in Mt. Pulaski, IL. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2005.

Surviving Freda are her children: Thomas McGee of Denver, CO and Susan Shull (Robert) Broughton of Lincoln, IL; one sister: Joyce (Jack) Scroggin of Mt. Pulaski, IL; one grandchild: Melany (Chuck) Perrone of South Lyon, MI; two great grandchildren: Natalie and Jacob Perrone. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin daughters, three brothers: Bertrum, James , and Don, and one sister: Rosanna.

Freda was a Kindergarten teacher at Mt. Pulaski Grade School, taught at Chester East Grade School in Lincoln, IL, and Birks School. She enjoyed traveling, watching the grandchild and great grandchildren, and loved sewing.

Services for Freda will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday September 7, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski, IL with Mark Weber officiating. James R. Jackson (84) of Mt Pulaski passed away on August 31, 2017 at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Jim was born on March 2, 1933 in Kinmundy, Illinois, the third child of Don C. and Wilma L. Gammon Jackson. He married Sarah K. Thorp in 1952. She preceded him in death in June, 2014. Survivors include four children: Alan (Judi) of Kalamazoo, MI; Linda Stanfield of Henderson, NV; Doug (Janet, deceased) of Philo IL; and Kathy Boward of Mt. Pulaski, IL. Jim had five grandchildren: Valerie Cooper (Alex) of Seattle, WA, Jaime Snyder (Rob) of Henderson, NV, Mathew Stanfield (Mary Jane) of Las Vegas, NV, Bryan Jackson (Lindsey) of Crofton, MD, and Hannah Boward of Mt. Pulaski. He leaves seven great-grandchildren, Owen and Esther Cooper, Chase and Gage Snyder, Kaiden Casper, Matchiko and Deone Stanfield, and twin Jackson great-granddaughters who are on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William and Richard, and sister Mary Jane Jost. A sister, Shirley DeVault of Farmer City, survives.

Jim attended schools in Clinton, IL, graduating from high school in 1951. Jim’s young family moved to Mt Pulaski in 1957. During his lifetime he worked for the Illinois Central Railroad as a signal maintainer, managed the Hilltop Bowl in Mt Pulaski, was an agent for Metropolitan Life, and retired as a custodian for Mt. Pulaski Township High School. He was a member of Mt. Pulaski United Methodist Church. He served as alderman on the Mt. Pulaski City Council, served on the Park District board, and was a volunteer for the Mt Pulaski Courthouse. He was a member of the Mt Pulaski Masonic Lodge and the Ansar Shrine. Life interests included fishing, bowling, golfing, reading history, and following the Cardinals. He enjoyed taking care of the family pets.

Visitation will be from 5–7 on Friday, September 8 at the Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski. Funeral services will be held at the Mt Pulaski Methodist Church at 10:00 on Saturday, September 9, Pastor Zoila Marti officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton.

Memorials: Mt. Pulaski United Methodist Church, Alzheimer’s Association, Vonderlieth Living Center–Activities Fund, or donor’s choice.

Wesley umpired IHSA Softball and travel softball for over 55 years. He had been the area coordinator for the Khoury League. He loved the Chicago Cubs and was a diehard fan. He was a U.S. Airforce Veteran.

Michael L. Gross, 73, of Cerro Gordo passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 6 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 5 at the funeral home. Mike was born October 26, 1943 in Decatur, IL, the son of Harold Vernon and Wilma Jane (Heinz) Gross. He married Pat Benson on January 6, 1962 in Cerro Gordo.

He worked for 38 years as a National Sales Executive for WAND-TV and taught Dale Carnegie courses. Mike was passionate about his community and served on the Cerro Gordo School Board for 17 years and was president for 10 years. He served on Cerro Gordo Village Board as Trustee, was a lifetime member and Past Commander of Cerro Gordo Sons of the American Legion Post #117, Cerro Gordo Youth League President and coach and was involved in the Cerro Gordo Booster Club.

Mike was a NASCAR enthusiast and was active in CGBRL. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports and activities and could often be found patrolling the streets of Cerro Gordo on his golf cart or enjoying his friends at the Legion.

Mike is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pat; daughter, Kelley (Jim Morrison) of Cerro Gordo; sister, Judy Hamm of Decatur; grandchildren, Kraig, Kaleb (Jenna Eaker), and Kristie Krigbaum, all of Cerro Gordo; great grandchild Nolan Krigbaum (Little Bubba); brother-in-law Dean (Becky) Benson of Oakley; sister-in-law Donna (Steve) Fleener of La Place; his grand dog Pujo; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Victor Ryburn

Victor Eugene Ryburn, of Heyworth, went to be with the Lord at 5:52 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 2, 2017) surrounded by his wife and children.

Vic was born May 8, 1945, in Bloomington (VE Day — the day that World War II ended in Europe) to Raymond and Hazel Peel Ryburn. He was named Victor Eugene (the initials of “Victory in Europe”). Immediately after he was born, his mother heard church bells ringing, car horns honking, and watched the delivery room doctor and nurses jumping up and down, crying, laughing, and hugging each other. At last, the war was over! A cause for celebration. But his mother, confused by the jubilation, thought: “What did I have?”

He married Sue Lane on Feb. 25, 1984, in Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Heidi (John) Leitzen, Heyworth; James (Trianna) Ryburn, Heyworth; Brandi (Mark) Haeffele, Bloomington; and Joseph (Chantel) Dickerson-Ryburn, Ellsworth; six grandchildren, Mandi, Tabitha, Joshua, Jaden, Connor, and Caden; six step-grandchildren, Taylor, Kendall, Jonny, Rowan, Seth, and Miranda; three great-grandchildren, Kyrie, Hayze, and Jensen; siblings, Raymond Jr. (Mollie Watkins), Lexington, Ky.; David (Ginny), Waynesville; Terri, Normal; Roger (Debbie), Bloomington; Barb Oliviero-Cushing, Cooksville; Merry (John) Everett, El Paso; and Ben (Arlene Hosea), Normal; special in-laws, Julie (Larry) Stine; Lynn Dulaney; and Mike Lane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Shirley Lane, and sister-in-law, Lynn Dulaney.

Vic was a Christian, a man of faith, compassion, and integrity. He had an upbeat, positive attitude; he did not like negativity, even to the end. He was straightforward and honest and you always knew where you stood with him. He helped anyone in need, without thought of repayment. Vic could take apart and repair anything and was an inventor. He had a strong work ethic; he put in many volunteer hours on Ryburn Place at Sprague’s Super Service. He helped to build the Victory Christian Center, who created the Vic Ryburn Award to honor volunteers. When asked what he did for fun, Vic replied, “I work.” He worked at Eureka Company for 35 years.

Sue was the love of Vic’s life; he adored her. He loved his children, his large family, his multitude of friends, and his church family. And they loved him back. The hard part will be learning to live without his larger-than-life personality, his story telling, and his corny jokes. He is already missed.

Evan R. Shaw of Bement passed away Aug. 20, 2017 in his home. He married Rita Cantrell March 13, 1992. He is survived by his wife, sisters, Susie Jones of Florida, Andrea Weitekamp and Lisa Shaw of Illinois as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Per his wishes, his body was donated to science and there will be no burial. In honor of his memory there will be a memorial service and potluck dinner from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m Sunday, Sept. 17th in the Bement American Legion.

Ralph was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Volga, S.D., the son of John Rufus and Fanny Pearl (Caldwell) Pair. He married L. Margaret Miller on Feb. 16, 1947, in DeWitt. She passed away July 7, 2001.

Surviving are his children, Grace (Larry) Baer, Lebanon, Ind.; Gloria Jean Alsup, Maroa; Martha Rose (Donald) Welch, Clinton; and Deanna Kay (Steve) Brannan, Clinton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Gary Alsup Sr.; three brothers; and one sister

Ralph was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Clinton Assembly of God Church, where he served many capacities including head usher, deacon, treasurer, and elder. Ralph was a custodian at Clinton School District and a farm hand for various area farmers.

Jimmy Glenn Bratcher, 69, of Heyworth, formerly of Lexington, passed away at 11 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 31, 2017) at Heartland Healthcare, Normal.

Jimmy was a tool-and-die maker by trade and was a talented handyman. He enjoyed Westerns (especially John Wayne), boating, fishing and time spent outdoors walking his dogs. He was active in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Jimmy will be remembered for his ability to make quick friends with anyone and his love of conversation.

Max Terry Rockhold 82 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 4 AM August 31, 2017 at his family residence, Clinton, Il.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Rockhold, Clinton, IL; son, Martin (Cynthia) Rockhold, Clinton, IL; daughter-in-law, Kristi Rockhold, Justin, TX; grandchildren: Jamie Rockhold, Normal, IL; Jacob Rockhold

(fiancé, Kristina Joseph), Peoria, IL; Jessica Summers, Dallas, TX; Raniyah and Zachary Rockhold, Justin, TX; and great-granddaughter, Sophia Summers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Michael and Marc Rockhold; and two brothers: Don and Joe Rockhold.

Max graduated from Moore Township High School, Farmer City, IL in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959, onboard the U.S.S. Philippine Sea. His final station was based in Kingsville, TX. Max graduated from Illinois Commercial College, Champaign, IL in 1961.

He was a member of the DeWitt County Board for several years and served as the Chairman in 1986.

Max retired from the Secretary of State Business Services Department and played a key role in establishing Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) in Illinois. For many years he owned his own businesses

including real estate and income tax offices.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Max was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed attending school and sports activities.

Margaret Laverne Summers, 94 of Monticello, IL passed away 5:40 P.M. August 30, 2017 at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello, IL.

Graveside services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday September 5, 2017 at Monticello Township Cemetery, Monticello, IL with Rev. Tony Crouch officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Piatt County Nursing Home.

Margaret was born April 3, 1923 in Kavito, KY the daughter of Clayton William and Mittie (McLendon) Greenarch. She married Robert Lee Summers in 1938 in Indiana; he passed away August 3, 1995.

Survivors include her children: Lee (Wanda) Summers, Monticello, IL, Ray Summers, Monticello, IL, Cathy Wassom, Monticello, IL; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Margaret had a big heart and was deeply loved by her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and could out hunt Robert.

Carl F. Jennings 73 of Cisco, IL passed away 7:25 AM August 30, 2017 at his family residence,

Cisco, IL.

Graveside services will be 10 A.M. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Croninger Cemetery, Cisco, IL with Rev. Larry Leischner officiating. There will be no visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.

Carl was born June 12, 1944 in DeLand, IL the son of Floyd and Emma (Gains) Jennings. He married Janet Kay Grunden November 22, 1972 in Cisco, IL; she passed away January 2, 2016.

Survivors include his son: Jerry (Karen) Jennings, Argenta, IL; daughter: Carla (Jason Frazee) Jennings, Bement, IL; 4 grandchildren: Kaitlyn & Sydney Jennings, Bradley & Sammy Jo Frazee; siblings: Betty Zumwalt, Farmer City, IL, Carolyn Burton, Nancy, KY and Janice Burton, DeLand, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Carl worked at General Cable in Monticello, IL for 37 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and watching wildlife.
