Services will be 10 A.M. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2016 at the funeral home.

Mary Jane was born June 6, 1931 in Kinmundy, IL the daughter of Don C. and Wilma (Gammon) Jackson.
 
Survivors include her children: Charlene (Darrell) McKinzey, Clinton, IL, Darlene (Randy) Baker, Mahomet, IL, Chuck Jost, Clinton, IL, Pat (Randy) Good, Clinton, IL, Beth (Doug) Sturgeon, Clinton, IL; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with one on the way. Also surviving 1 brother: Jim Jackson, Mt. Pulaski, IL and 1 sister: Shirley DeVault, Farmer City, IL.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers.
 
Mary Jane was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

W.C. Burkett

W. C. Burkett 70 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 12:25 PM December 24, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Il.
 
Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Clinton Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dan Bell officiating.  Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL with Military Honors.  Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the church.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

W.C. was born March 23, 1946 in Poplar Bluff, MO the son of Alvin and Edith (Smith) Burkett.  He married Doris “Rie” McKee September 25, 1971 in Keokuk, IA. 
 
Survivors include his wife, Rie Burkett, Clinton, IL; children:  Wendy (Gordon) Woods, Clinton, IL; Lisa Burkett, Clinton, IL; Jason (Fatima) Burkett, Bloomington, IL; and Bobbi (Sam) Perryman, Warrensburg, IL; five grandchildren; brothers:  Eugene and Tim Burkett, Gateway, AR; John, Garry and Steve Burkett, Pea Ridge, AR; Bruce and David Burkett, Seligman, MO; Robert Burkett, Anderson, MO; sister, Onida Clubb, Rogers, AR.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
 
W.C. served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1972. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, hunting and Big Band music. W.C. always had a corny sense of humor even up until his passing.

Marvin Robinson

 Marvin R. Robinson, 75 of Beason, IL passed away 2:00 P.M. December 26, 2016 at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton, IL.
 
Services will be 10 AM, Friday, December 30, 2016 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery, Beason, IL. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the funeral home.  The family requests casual attire.
 
Memorials may be directed to the Beason Fire Department, the DeWitt Co. Museum, or the Beason United Methodist Church.
 
Marvin was born July 30, 1941 in Lincoln, IL the son of Vernet and Dorothy (Begolka) Robinson. He married Gail Hynd December 9, 1961 in Onarga, IL.
 
Survivors include his wife: Gail Robinson, Beason, IL; children:  Debra Ertl, Clinton, IL and Darvin (Tammy) Robinson, Beason, IL; 2 grandchildren:  Ana and Hunter Robinson, Beason, IL; sister, Sylvia Barry, Charleston, IL; brother, Dwayne (Cheryl) Robinson, Champaign, IL; several nieces and nephews also survive.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Marvin worked at Revere Copper and Brass for 40 years and was also a lifelong farmer in the Beason area.  He was on the board of the DeWitt Co. Museum Assoc. and a trustee of the Beason Fire Dept.  Marvin was a member of HPOCA, the Hartland Oliver Collectors, the  I & I Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Club, and the DeWitt County Farm Bureau.  He was a member of the Beason United Methodist Church.  Marvin was an avid collector of Oliver Tractors.

Dorothy Marie Primmer

Dorothy Marie Elenora (Schultz) Primmer, 94, of Monticello, passed away at 9:31 p.m., December 22, 2016 at Maple Point, Monticello.
 
Dorothy was born on January 30, 1922 in Effingham County the daughter of Chris H. and Nancy Bertha Jane (Stockwell) Schultz. She married Raymond Albert ‘Ray’ Primmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond A. Primmer September 30, 1991, two sisters Laura Bannick and Luevada Wright, three brothers Otto C. Schultz, Harvey R. Schultz, and one infant brother.
 
Survivors include two children Larry D. Primmer of Cerro Gordo and Jane Christine Jones of Lodge, grandchildren 13, great grandchildren 13, and several nieces and nephews.
 
She spent many years in the nursing occupation and was PTA President at White Heath school. She was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S of the church, the Piatt County Farm Bureau, and a 4-H leader. Her hobbies included gardening, photography, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
 
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Steve Ingram and Rev. Cindy Rettig officiating. Interment will be held in Ingram Cemetery.

Ronald Benz

Ronald Benz, 75, of Clinton, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 21, 2016) at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

 

His service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Greg Taylor and Pastor Dan Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, Clinton; the DeWitt County Animal Shelter; or Kenney Heritage Association.

 

Ron was born Sept. 16, 1941, in Monticello, the son of Howard B. and Hazel C. Stephens Benz. He married Donna Rae Polen on June 1, 1961, in Clinton.

 

Survivors include his wife, Donna Rae Benz, Clinton; children, Mike Lee (Teresa) Benz, Kenney, and Jackie (Fred) Bruner, Franklin, Ind.; two stepgrandchildren; sister, Sharon (friend, Willard Brown) Benz, Decatur; and brother, Rodger (Maria) Benz, Kaneohe, Hawaii.

 

Ron was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton. He had retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of service and farmed most of his life in DeWitt County.

Lois (Maher) Ratcliffe

Lois (Maher) Ratcliffe, 83, of Sullivan, IL, formerly of Pesotum, IL, passed away at 4:03 P.M. on December 2, 2016. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, December 27th at Mason Point Nursing Home Chapel, 1 Masonic Way, Sullivan with family friend and Chaplin Jan Dial officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at Davis Memorial Cemetery, Pesotum, IL at a later date. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation.
 
Lois was born May 11, 1933 in Geneva, NY, the daughter of John and Beulah (Maher) Huntley. Her father nicknamed her “June” when she was just a baby. June graduated with honors from Urbana High School in 1951. She married Robert Ratcliffe in 1970. 
 
Survivors include her husband, Robert Ratcliffe, Sullivan; children John (Kay) Werts, Clinton; Tere (Mike) Tedrick, Clinton; stepsons Bob (Kim) Ratcliffe, Mentor, OH; Jeff (Cindy) Ratcliffe, Painesville, OH; Jim Ratcliffe, Mahomet, sister Doris Hertzman, Downers Grove IL; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
 
June was preceded in death by her parents.
 
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Carle Hospital staff, Carle Hospice Program, and Mason Point Nursing Home staff Sullivan, IL for their tender care of June.

James D. McDivitt

James D. ‘Jim’ Mc Divitt, 51, of Farmer City, passed away at 2:50 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his residence.
 
Jim was born on April 2, 1965 in Des Moines, IA the son of Dale and Ella Joyce (Bivans) Mc Divitt.
 
Jim is survived by his parents, Dale and Joyce Mc Divitt of Monticello and brother, Jon Mc Divitt (Tammy) of Urbana.
 
Jim worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Woodlawn Country Club, Farmer City. He loved building things with wood, he was an auto racing enthusiast, and he enjoyed golfing.
 
A Celebration of Life service will be held later.

Carol J. Rapp, 80 of Clinton, IL, passed away 2:45 A.M. December 14, 2016 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

Carol was born January 18, 1936 in Wapella, IL the daughter of Oscar and Irene (Storey) Baylor. She married Donald G. Rapp on December 17, 1955 in Clinton, IL.

Rapp, Clinton, IL; children: George (Lesslie) Rapp, Clyde, OH; James (Jackie) Rapp, Heyworth, IL; John (Donna) Rapp, Gridley, IL; Paul (Tina) Rapp, Lexington, IL; Philip Rapp, Clinton, IL; 10 Grandchildren; 9 Great-Grandchildren; siblings: Hester (Robert) Kingston, Monticello, IL; Grant (Linda) Baylor, Decatur, IL; John (Margaret) Baylor, Decatur, IL; and LaVonne (Gary) Day, Urbana, IL.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 son, David.
 
Carol enjoyed being a homemaker, spending time with her family, and riding motorcycles.

Rebecca Phillips

Rebecca Rose "Becky" Brumett Phillips, daughter of Harry Garland Brumett and Daisy Ellen McGinnis Brumett, was born May 6, 1929, in Sullivan Ind. On Tuesday (Dec. 13, 2016) at her home in Unicoi, Tenn., she passed away following a lengthy illness.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. G. Richard Phillips; two older brothers, Thomas Dizney and Joe Wayne Brumett; and a sister, Naomi Ruth Brumett Turpen.
 
After she completed high school in 1947, she attended and graduated from what is now called Lincoln Christian University, Lincoln. She met her future husband, Dr. G. Richard "Dick" Phillips, while attending, and they were married Dec. 20, 1951. This year would have been their 65th wedding anniversary. Their son, Dr. Richard W., was born late in 1952, and their daughter, Jane Ellen, followed in 1958.
 
 
Becky began the role of “preacher’s wife” in Nebo, and then in Boswell, Ind. She worked as a veterinarian’s assistant while Dick continued his education at Butler University, Indianapolis. In late 1957, the family moved to East Ridge (Chattanooga), Tenn., for ministry to East Ridge Christian Church. She served as church secretary there, and played piano and led the singing. During this time, she received her master’s degree in education from the University of Chattanooga (now UTC), and began her teaching career at East Ridge High School. While there, she wrote the school’s alma mater, which is still used today.
 
In 1962, Dick was called to the faculty of Lincoln Christian Seminary. Becky began teaching at Springfield High School, and later at Central Elementary School in Lincoln. In 1967, the family moved to Johnson City, Tenn., so that Dick could serve on the faculty of Milligan College. Becky taught school at Rock Creek Elementary in Erwin, and at South Side School in Johnson City until her retirement. Becky was a strong advocate for her profession, being president of the Johnson City Education Association, and being named “Teacher of the Year” for Johnson City in 1985. Besides her teaching career, Becky enjoyed her hobbies of macramé, painting, traveling, playing the piano/organ (teaching her children and grandchildren), hand bells and many other crafts.
 
Becky was a warm and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active participant of Grandview Christian Church, where she would have been a member for 50 years in 2017. She played the piano and organ there for many years, and led the Calling Group to visit and encourage homebound members of the congregation.
 
 
Becky is survived by son, Richard W. (Lucy), Unicoi, Tenn.; daughter, Jane Ellen, Staten Island, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Children of son Richard W. include Melissa Phillips (Jon) Reading, Richard J. (Ashley) and Sarah E. Phillips. Etolia Brooke Fisher is the daughter of daughter Jane Ellen. Great-grandchildren are Caroline Phillips, Savanna Torres, Logan Reading, Brynn Reading, Meadow Phillips and Willow Phillips.
 
Service was Friday at Grandview Christian Church, Johnson City. Graveside service and burial will at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta. 
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The G. Richard and Rebecca R. Phillips Faculty Development Funds at either Milligan College (P.O. Box 750, Milligan College, TN 37682), or Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan College (One Walker Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601).

Albert A. 'Al' Vermillion

Albert A. “Al” Vermillion, 92, of Clinton, passed away at 7:29 p.m. Friday (Dec. 16, 2016), at Warner Hospital & Health Services, Clinton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. Stephen Killion officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, with military honors. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Clinton Eagles or Clinton United Methodist Church.

 

Al was born July 7, 1924, in Clinton, the son of Herbert A. and Jennie Mae Hubler Vermillion. He married Donna L. Johnson on Jan. 4, 1953, in Clinton. She passed away on March 1, 2005.

Survivors include his daughters, Mikki (Jim) Burns, Clinton; Barbara (Harlan) Powers, Clinton; Sara Williamson, Richardson, Texas; and Diana (John) Leach, Maroa; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Dick (Linda Schmid) Wagers, Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

 

Al was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church, the Eagles, Elks and the American Legion. He was a past member of the Clinton Country Club. Al owned and operated the Vermillion Bowl and Grill, which he built in 1959, before retiring in 1989.

He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, stationed in Hawaii. He took the Honor Flight on Nov. 10-11, 2012, and was chosen to put a wreath on the Marine Corps Memorial.

Al could be seen sporting his red pants on Friday nights, and he enjoyed driving his 1985 Oldsmobile station wagon that he nicknamed “Flivver.” He was a lifelong, die-hard Cubs fan.

Douglas D. DeMay, 51, of Lincoln died at 9 a.m. Friday (Dec. 16, 2016), at University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Lincoln, with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible officiating.

 

Burial: at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee.

Visitation: from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with an Elks memorial ceremony following, and from 3 to 6 p.m. Dec. 26, 2016, at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee.

Duane Smalley

Duane Smalley, Lincoln, 86, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 18, 2016), at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Lincoln Christian Church, with Ron Otto and Ryan Edgecombe officiating.

 

Burial: at a later date.

Margaret P. Lilly

Margaret P. Lilly, 86, of Bement, passed away at 2:24 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2016 at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
 
Margaret was born on July 20, 1930 in Atwood, IL the daughter of Henry and Pearl (Kinney) Evans. Margaret was raised by her adopted parents Seb and Opal Sebens. She married William H. “Bill” Lilly on January 13, 1962 in Monticello. He passed away August 16, 2003.
 
Margaret is survived by her son, William “Billy” Lilly of Bement; daughters, Sara Dianne Slagle of Bement and Cathy Beals of Monticello; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and a sister, Fern Wildman of Tuscola. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Daughter-in-Law Tina Lilly, 8 brothers, and 3 sisters.
 
Margaret taught 25 years at Headstart in Cisco, worked at Meijer’s in Champaign, and worked at the Allerton Park Visitors Center. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her classmates, family, grandkids, and great grandkids.
 
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in the Monticello Township Cemetery.

Rose Rich

Rose Rich, 73, of Clinton, passed away 6:15 p.m. Monday (Dec. 12, 2016) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Her service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rose was born Sept. 8, 1943, in Bloomington, the daughter of Lawerence and Betty Deerwester Bradley. She married Charles D. Mandrell on Dec. 6, 1958. She later married Larry Rich on Jan. 1, 2006, in Clinton.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Rich, Clinton; children, Bruce Mandrell, Clinton; Greg Mandrell, Clinton; and Lora (Kelly) Kinder, Clinton; sister, Susie (Jim) White, McLean; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles L. “Chuck” Mandrell; two brothers; and four sisters.

 

Rose loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mabel Irene Oakley, 84, of Clinton formerly of Farmer City passed away at 11:35 P.M. Monday, December 12, 2016 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

Irene was born February 22, 1932 at Farmer City, IL, a daughter of Elman C. & LouRee King Rittenhouse. She married Donald G. “Polk” Oakley October 8, 1955 at Farmer City, IL. He passed away January 12, 1985.

Mary Ruth Silvers

Mary Ruth Silvers, 94, passed away December 9, 2016 at her home.
 
Mrs. Silvers was born December 17, 1921 in Vigo County, Indiana to Joseph and Elsie (Mars) McClanahan. She married Russell Clayton Silvers in Brazil, Indiana on November 23, 1946. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. He survives.
 
She graduated from Union Hospital Nursing School in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1946 with her RN degree. She joined the U.S. Nurse Cadets during WWII. Mary worked as an RN in several hospitals and schools.
 
She was an avid golfer and held championships in three different county clubs and many tournaments. Mary loved to sew, crochet, tat and quilt. She shared over a hundred tatted crosses to many of her Christian friends. Mary was an active Christian her whole life and as a member of Havendale Christian Church for many years.
 
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Cathy Jill (D.R.) Violet Rose Winters

Violet Rose Winters, 80 of Cisco, IL., passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Carl Foundation Hospital Urbana, IL.
 
A private funeral service will be held for her family. She will be laid to rest in Croninger Cemetery in Cisco, IL. Memorials may be made to the Cisco Fire Department. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
 
Violet was born April 16, 1936 in Brookville, IN., daughter of Earl and Flora( Mahaffey) Bourquein. She worked for and retired from Growmark in Cisco. Violet loved birds, gardening, square dancing, and the Bement Opry and family gatherings. She was a member of The Oreana Christian Church and formerly First Christian Church of Monticello where she played the piano. She married Charles E. Winters and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2011.
 
Surviving are her children, Ricky Lee (Deborah) Winters of Cisco, IL., Ronald E. (Teresa) Winters of Euless, TX., Anna Marie (Kevin) Levault of Stonington, IL., John David Winters of Cisco, IL., fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, brother, Norman (Cherryle) Bourquein of Batesville, IN., sisters, Ellen Suhre of Oxford, Ohio, Marilyn Brown of Dunlap, Ohio, brother-in-law, Herb (Wanda) Winters of Sunman, IN.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Lavonne Wallace and Marie Craft.

Larry Thomas Edwards

Larry Thomas Edwards, 76, of Farmer City, IL, formerly of Cisco, passed away at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at his home. The family is planning a Celebration of Life. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, IL in charge of arrangements.
 
Larry was born September 25, 1940, in Clinton, IL, the son of Thomas and Donna Sullivan Edwards. Larry graduated from Monticello High School. He married Martha Johnson on June 17, 1961. While in Cisco, Larry operated Edwards Farm Supply, was a member of the village town board and volunteer fire department, and was fire chief for 17 years. While in Farmer City, Larry operated Fullerton 54/48 and Rural Ag. Larry was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Clinton.
 
Larry's family includes his wife of 55 years, Martha, and his children and grandchildren; Kim and Steve Blakely, Tom, John and Henry; Kevin and Victoria, Kaily and Cassidy; Kristi and Doug Tame, Abigail and Dakota; and Tiffany Jourdan and Adalynn.
 
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

William C. Guyot, Sr.

William C. Guyot, Sr., 85, of Cisco, passed away at 9:50 p.m., December 6, 2016 at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
 
Bill was born on December 5, 1931 in Deland, IL the son of Lester and Ella (Anderson) Guyot. He married Wanda E. Lewis on June 9, 1951 in Tulsa, OK.
 
Bill is survived by his wife, Wanda Guyot of Cisco; a son, Chuck Guyot (Iris) of Bement, Chuck’s children Brenda Stephens (Brian) and Dave Guyot (Amber), Brenda’s children Elizabeth Stephens and Will Stephens, and Amber’s son, Austin Chestnut. Bill is also survived by a daughter, Becky Copeland (Joe) of Oblong, Becky’s children Amy Patton (Jeramie) and Wade Copeland (friend CasCainda Sheridan) and Amy’s daughter, Brinley Patton. Bill is also survived by a sister, Jean Bickers of North Carolina; nephew, Bill Bickers; and a very special friend of the family, Bob Wisehart. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
 
Bill retired as a Petroleum driver for the Piatt County Farm Services and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Bill loved his children and grandchildren. In his early years, he played fast-pitch softball. He coached and helped start little league in Cisco. He enjoyed fishing and hunting but his true passion was coon hunting where he was inducted into the Illinois State Coon Hunter’s Hall of Fame.
 
A private family graveside service will be held. Interment will be in Croninger Cemetery, Cisco.

Velma R. Jinks

Velma R. Durand Jinks, 97, of Bement, IL., passed away at 8:40 P.M. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello, IL.
 
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Hinds Funeral Home, 348 N. Piatt St. Bement, IL. There will be no visitation. Pat Tieman will officiate. Burial will be in the Bement Township Cemetery, Bement, IL. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
 
Velma was born on August 27, 1919, in Stonington, IL., a daughter of Allen and Edna Howe Krieger. She married Leo Durand, Jr and he passed away in May, 1945. She later married Marlin Jinks on November 25, 1949, in Decatur, IL., and he passed away on August 31, 1983. Surviving children include; Richard (Sue) Durand of Decatur, IL., Shirley (Jim) Beckhart of Mt. Zion, IL., and Karen Nelsen of Bement, IL. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a son-in-law; William Larimore, a daughter-in-law; Lisa Jinks. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 1 sister, 1 brother, 1 son; Thomas Jinks and 1 daughter; Pamela Larimore, and son-in-law; Charles Nelsen. Velma loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Patricia A. Storm 78, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 5:05 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.
 
A service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Maranatha Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dean Rose officiating. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery, Harristown. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Pat was born on January 11, 1938, in Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, the daughter of James C. and Connie L. (Haley) Ragsdale. She graduated from St. Elmo High School in 1955. She went on to attend Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, IL. It was there, that Pat met her future husband Dwain Storm. Patricia married Dwain Loyd Storm on June 14, 1958, at the St. Elmo Assembly of God Church. She worked as an Avon sales person starting at an early age helping her mom Connie Ragsdale. She went on to become the District Manager for Avon in Decatur and the surrounding area for over 20 years. Pat was very suited for this type of work as she loved people and loved to help people. After retiring from Avon, she worked in the insurance field with AAA Insurance and later Preferred Risk. Pat and Dwain were members of Maranatha Assembly of God Church.
 
Pat enjoyed many things in life as long as it included her husband Dwain and the boys. Pat and Dwain were involved in many church functions. Together they enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, golfing, bowling leagues and watching their boys in sports. Later in life, Pat and Dwain loved square dancing and being surrounded by all who was involved. Pat loved her family dearly and along with her husband Dwain cherished every moment with their siblings, children, and grandchildren throughout their lives. Pat was a giver and always gave of herself whole heartily. Pat and Dwain loved all their friends that they met along their wonderful life together.
 
Surviving are her sons: Randy Storm and his wife Debbie of McKee, KY and Greg Storm of Mt. Zion; step-granddaughter: Myriah Phillips of Franklin, TN, step great-grandchildren: Reagan and Emma Phillips of Franklin, TN; sisters: June Weaver of Lima, OH, and Sue Murphy and her husband Jerry of Ocala, FL; brother: Ron Ragsdale of rural St. Elmo along with many nieces and nephews.
 
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Marvin Ragsdale, Bob Ragsdale, and J.D. Ragsdale, sisters: Betty King and Okema Rhodes, and a niece: Gina Storm.

Marie Snodgrass

Marie L. Snodgrass, 92, of LeRoy, passed away at 2:19 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 8, 2016), at her home, surrounded by her family.
 
Private graveside services will be at Hopewell Cemetery, Downs. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Cancer Center, Normal.
 
She was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Morgantown, Ky., daughter of Leora Jones Logsdon. She married James Snodgrass on Dec. 14, 1942, in Flener, Ky. They were married for 59 years before he preceded her in death on June 26, 2002. She was also preceded in death by two sons, two brothers and two sisters.
 
Surviving are her son, Will (Kathy) Snodgrass, LeRoy; two daughters, Brenda (Robert) Bauer, Clifton Hills, Mo., and Sandra Munsell, LeRoy; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Alice (Bennett) Dunn, Florida, and Hazel Wright, Missouri.
 
Marie enjoyed many years working for Eureka Williams Co. before her retirement. She loved antiquing, quilting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

Sandra Pinaire

Sandra K. Pinaire, 70, of Urbana, formerly of Weldon, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 4, 2016) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Sandra was born March 5, 1946, at Clinton, the daughter of Ralph and Tressie Golden Tudor. She married Larry Pinaire on Nov. 27, 1966, at Weldon. He survives.

She is also survived by a son Bryan (Carla) Pinaire, St. Joseph; brother, Carl E. (Linda) Tudor, Pearl, Miss.; six grandchildren, Cortney (Craig) Hall, Austin Pinaire, Dakota Pinaire, Jacinta (Jesse) Smith, Jordan (Yaritza) Bladen and Chase Chapman; and nine great-grandchildren, Kylan, Reese, Zoe, Cheyanne, Jeese Jr., Loyatt, Karsyn, Drayven and Jasmyn.

Sharon Virginia Stone, 78, of Lincoln, died on Thursday (Dec. 1, 2016), at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Doris Carter

Doris Jean Carter, 85, of Lincoln passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Friday (Dec. 2, 2016), at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Doris was born April 18, 1931, in New Holland, the daughter of Earl Henry and Callie Pedigo Behrens. She married Gerald R. Carter on Oct. 22, 1949. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2001.

 

Doris is survived by her son, James L. (James W. Schmeltzer) Carter, Chicago; son-in-law, David Laesch, Mount Pulaski; daughter-in-law, Karen Carter, Chestnut; her grandchildren, Dee Anderson, Mount Pulaski; Russ (Sarah) Laesch, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Jamie (Andy) Vaughan, Mount Pulaski; and Rachel (Scott) Getzelman, Clinton; and her nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, Kenneth Ray Carter; her daughter, Mary Edith Laesch; and her infant sister.

Doris was a volunteer at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for over 40 years. She was part of the Home Extension group. Doris loved family gatherings as well as sewing and painting. She was a proud member of the stitching club “Stitchers” at Serendipity in Lincoln. Doris also loved going to breakfast on Wednesday mornings with “The Ladies.”

A memorial service for Doris will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Lincoln, officiated by the Rev. Michael Paulson. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Burial will take place after the services in Harmony Cemetery, Beason. Memorial donations may be made in Doris’ name to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital or First United Methodist Church, Lincoln.

 

Ruth Woodall Leggett

Ruth Woodall Leggett, 83, of Plainfield, formerly of Clinton, passed away at 9 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 29, 2016) at home.

Her service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Clinton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leanne Noland officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth was born April 25, 1933, in Clinton, the daughter of Hallie “Hal” and Claudia Weatherholt Woodall. She married Gene Leggett on Sept. 21, 1951, in Clinton.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Leggett, Plainfield; son, Eric (Nancy) Leggett, Plainfield; five grandchildren, Erin, Julia, Gregory, Kevin and Eric; and son-in-law, Russell Swanson, Naperville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Clyde Earhart; daughter, Elaine Swanson; one sister, Helen; and one brother, Warren.

Ruth was the director of volunteer services at Oak Park Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

Clement Wayne Blazek

Wayne Blazek, 77, of Weldon, passed away at 10:14 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 1, 2016), at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care Center, Farmer City.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, with Marc Rogers, Amvets chaplain, officiating. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne was born July 9, 1939, in Yankton, S.D. the son of Clement Blazek and his wife, and raised by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Sylvia Blazek.

 

He married Linda Bradley on March 8, 1965, in New London, Conn.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Blazek, Weldon; children, Joe (Jean) Blazek, Weldon, and Kenny (Kris) Blazek, Mansfield; four grandchildren, Josh, Amber, Sam and Haley; one great-granddaughter, Lola; and brother, Mike Blazek, Hilo, Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Arnold.

Wayne retired from the U.S. Navy and was a retired carpenter and a private pilot.
