Danny Bryan Powers

Danny Bryan Powers, 76, of Lincoln, CA formerly of Clinton, IL passed away 11:20 PM June 12, 2026, at his home.

Friends are invited to the Graveside Services on Friday, June 26th at 10:30 am in Oak Park Cemetery in Clinton with Ernie Harvey Jr officiating.  Danny’s celebration of life for family and friends will be held at the Clinton Eagle’s Club following services.   The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home Clinton, IL with arrangements.

Danny was born May 6, 1950, in Clinton, IL the son of James Herman and Brownie Ellen (Bryan) Powers.  He married LaVerne (Vinson), May 12, 1972, in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Powers, Lincoln, CA; children: Bryan Powers, Reno, NV and Robbie Powers, Clinton, IL; siblings Harlan (Barbara) Powers, Clinton, IL, Lindy (Ann) Powers, Clinton, IL and Denise (John) Torbert, Clinton, IL.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, James & Johanna Powers, maternal grandparents, Foster & Cleavy Bryan and two special nephews, Michael Vinson and David Torbert.

Dan graduated from Clinton High School in 1968 where he excelled in all sports.  He attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL.  He served his country for 6 years as a medic in the United States National Guard.  Dan worked for the ICG railroad for 20 years before relocating to Loveland, Colorado as an engineer with Amtrak.  Later he was promoted to trainmaster in Sacramento, California.  Danny was very well known and respected by his railroad family throughout his 40 years.   He retired in 2013 from his lifelong career.

Dan loved the Chicago Cubs along with fishing, playing golf, bowling and playing cards.  He was always the life of the party and never met a stranger. 

Danny will be remembered for his outgoing personality, kindness and humor.  He loved to spend time reminiscing and storytelling with friends and family.  Dan was loved and cherished by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

 

Rodney Stith

Rodney Stith, 77 of Clinton, IL passed away 12:40 PM June 14, 2026 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL.

 

Celebration of Rodney’s Life will be at the First Baptist Church, Clinton, IL Fellowship Hall at a later date. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church Youth Group.

 

Rodney was born August 25, 1948 in Pontiac, IL the son of Wayne and Virginia (Page) Stith. He married Sue Stark August 29, 1970 in Mason City, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Sue Stith, Clinton, IL, sons, Jason (Kristy) Stith, Oswego, IL and Gabriel Stith, Clinton, IL, grandchildren, Hadley Stith, Oswego, IL, Harper Stith, Oswego, IL and Stone Stith, Clinton, IL, sister, Karen (Roger) Christianson, Pontiac, IL, seven nieces & nephews, Janice Kuhns, Bob Cox, Mike Cox, Kim Ruther, Cory Chrisitanson, Josh Christianson, Bill Stith, eleven great nieces & nephews, Brook, Blake, Ryan, Amanda, Andi, Alix, C.J., Ben, Mason, Alana, Katie, and seven great-great nieces & nephews, Peyton, Aubrey, Landon, Chloe, Bailey, Maverick, Taliesin.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Beverly Ketenbrink, and Nancy Cox, and brother, Jeff Stith.

 

Rodney enjoyed rebuilding chevys, baseball, fishing, participating with the boy scouts and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended the Pontiac Highschool in 1966 and the Chicago Circle from 1967-1968. Then going on to double major in math and physics from 1971-1972 at Illinois State University, Normal. He earned a Master’s Degree in 1984 for Music Business Management and Master’s Degree in 1987 both from Sangamon State University, PHD in Business Administration, Marketing, and Finance in 1992 from St. Louis University. He completed the MBA Program at Marshall in 1987. In 1980 he was awarded the Outstanding Student Award for the Atlantic Building Systems.

 

Rodney served in the Pontiac National Guard from 1969-1974, receiving a Letter of Commendation for saving a fellow guard member. He was a member of the Jaycees in Clinton, Life Underwriters Association from 1977 – 1980, the American Society of Composers, and Authors & Publishers in 1979. He was a manger of the steel warehouse & fabrication division at Morris Tick in Bloomington. He had taught at Millikin University for Creative Lyric Writing and Workshop in 1984 and was past President of Illinois Building Systems from 1980-1984.  Rodney owned and operated R & S Enterprises in Clinton, IL.

William "Wil" F. Buse

Beason -- William "Wil" F. Buse, 25, of Lincoln, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Graveside Services for Wil will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Harmony Cemetery in rural Beason with Rev. Joseph Dondanville officiating. Following the graveside services, a luncheon will be held at the Beason-Chestnut Park Pavilion with an Open House following from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln.

A rosary service will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday prior to the visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church.

William Frank Buse was born on March 4, 2001, in Lincoln, the son of Robert W. and Kathleen Klockenga Buse.

He is survived by his parents; one sister: Molly (Kyle Dyke) Buse; three brothers: Ben (Randi Lynn) Buse, Max Buse and Sam (Amanda) Buse; his maternal grandmother: Teresa Klockenga; three nieces: Ellie, Vera and Eliza; and his girlfriend: Alivia Catey. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Alvin D. Klockenga, paternal grandparents: Jeanette and Wayne Buse, and Uncle Darren Buse.

Wil graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 2019, where he was elected Prom King. He was active in 4-H, Future Farmers of America, the Bass Fishing Team, and tennis during his high school years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln and the APA Pool League in Logan County. He had been employed at Roland Machinery in Springfield as a Machinery Coordinator.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a memorial scholarship currently being created by his family.

Dolores J. Primmer

Dolores J. Primmer, 91, of Clinton, IL passed away 11:15 PM June 12, 2026 at Goldwater Care, Clinton, IL.

 

No services are planned at this time.  The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

 

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Dolores was born June 15, 1934 in Clintonia Twp., DeWitt County, Illinois the daughter of Irvin Leslie and Ruby (Jimerson) Wilson.  She married Robert D. Primmer April 16, 1954.  He passed away October 6, 2019.

 

Survivors include two grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Juliana Lyn Korowicki; one brother, Merle Wilson; and one sister, Wanda Wilson.

 

Dolores graduated high school in 1952 and was employed by Taylor Abstract Company for 52 years.

Donald Marvin Fugate

Springfield - Donald Marvin Fugate, 88 of Springfield Illinois (formerly of Clinton Illinois), passed away on June 8, with his wife and family by his side. Donald was born November 19, 1937 in Clinton Illinois to Everett McKinley Fugate and Reatha Mae (Turpin) Fugate.

From an early age, Don started farming with his father, went on to graduate in 1955 from Weldon High School, then began his career of 42 years at Caterpillar Tractor. Even after retiring, Donald continued his farming which he referred to as his place of peace.

Over the years, on top of both of his careers, he found time to be on the University of Illinois Extension Board, part of the Clinton zoning board of appeals, and the Creek Union drainage commissions. He was also a long time member of the Clinton United Methodist Church where he served on their board and was a member of the choir for over 50 years.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Norma Jean Rodgers He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Schoneweis) Fugate of 43 years, sister Mary Lou Ferguson, his children Donald Lynn Fugate (Nancy), and Deanna Brown (Carl), three step-children, Rebecca Gilmore(Don), Rachel Garren (Janie) and Ross Garren (Rene). Four grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and many great and step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Clinton United Methodist Church on June 15th, starting with a visitation at 10, followed by a church service at 11 and the burial following at Weldon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clinton United Methodist Church.

Steven Alan "Scoop" Mattingly

Steven Alan “Scoop” Mattingly 71 of Clinton, IL graduated to heaven on Friday, June 5th, 2026 at home in Clinton, IL.

Steve is survived by his children, Leah (Michael) & Hannah (Justin) Mattingly, grandchildren, Kaiser, Sawyer, Maddyx, and Brantley, and beloved dog Gus. He also leaves behind his brother, Myron (Deb) Mattingly and many nieces and nephews. 

Steve was born in Tuscola, IL on December 13th, 1954 the son of Denni Lee and Virginia Kathleen (Scott) Mattingly, Jr. and grew up in Arcola until the family moved to Mahomet in 1967. He graduated from Mahomet Seymour High School in 1973. He joined the Laborers Local Union 703 in November of 1974 where he later retired in 2008.

He married Emily Jane Clapper on September 4th, 1987. They were married 34 years before her passing in 2022. They welcomed their first daughter (Leah) in 1990 and second daughter (Hannah) in 1993. 

Steve was a member of the Sons of The American Legion. He enjoyed coaching his children in sports, camping, boating, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He was a hardworking, honest, loyal, and dependable man that will be deeply missed.

Celebration of Steve’s life will be at a later date. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Jimmie H. Barr, Sr.

Waynesville -- Jimmie H. Barr, 82, of Waynesville, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

 

Graveside Services for Mr. Barr will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Waynesville with grandson Zach Craig officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the Waynesville American Legion Post #1189. 

 

No visitation is scheduled. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

 

A Celebration of Jimmie’s Life will be held at the Waynesville American Legion Post #1189 immediately following the graveside services with a beer cheer scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

 

Jimmie served in the United States Marines Corp., United States Army, and the Illinois National Guard. He was employed at Contractor's Ready Mix as a driver and later worked at the McLean Cemetery for 15 years, along with working for various farmers in the McLean and Waynesville area.

 

Jimmie H. Barr was born on October 17, 1943, in Bloomington, the son of Clifford R. And Mandy Delmar Osborne Barr. He was united in marriage to Susan Diana Rich on July 11, 1992. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2025.

 

Surviving are his children: Tina Barr, Jimmie (Leigh) Barr, Jr., John (Alisha) Barr, Kimberly (David) West, Tammy Bode, and Misty Gordon; twenty grandchildren: Rondy Craig, Zachary Craig, Cody Ruff, Abbi Bode, Skyler Grill, Josh Gordon, Ashton Griffin, Brody Snyder, Aaron Sparks, Zach Barr, Landen Barr, Ryker Barr, Carly Barr, Isaiah Barr, Keagan Barr, Alex Barr, Phillip Barr, Kieryn Snyder, Kamdyn Snyder, and Olivia Sue Barr; and eighteen great-grandchildren. 

 

Memorials may be made to Beyond The Label, 2454 NE Dixie Highway, Jenson Beach Florida.

Bunny Laymon

Atlanta – Bunny Laymon, 81, of Atlanta, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Services for Bunny will be held at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Doug Maris will officiate. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln.

Bunny Hutchcraft was born April 1, 1945, the daughter of Arthur C. and Ruth L. Longridge Hutchcraft, Sr. She was united in marriage to Gary Doug Laymon on July 10, 1989. He survives.

Bunny is also survived by her children: Duane Swarts, TJ (Rachel) Swarts, Chuck (Larisa) Demling, and Dawn (Bob) Gorman; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Sandra Jacobs, Trudy (Mike) Coleman, Arthur “Coy” (Anne) Hutchcraft, Jr., and Gregg (Kathy) Hutchcraft.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Bunny had worked at Lincoln Chrysler Dodge Lincoln as the office manager. She enjoyed fishing, flowers, and gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad.

Nancy Ann Beveridge

Funeral services for Nancy Ann Beveridge, age 92, of Aurelia, Iowa, formerly of Heyworth, IL, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church of Alta, with Pastor Denise Malvesti officiating. Visitation will be at 1:30 prior to the service. A graveside homecoming service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Heyworth Cemetery, Heyworth, IL, with Pastor Carl Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the United Church of Heyworth, Heyworth, IL.

Nancy Ann Mortland was born June 10, 1933, in Streator, IL, the daughter of Harold and Lillian (Stasell) Mortland. She attended school in Streator, graduating in 1951. She then graduated from ISNU (Illinois State University). On June 30, 1956, Nancy was united in marriage to James Martin Beveridge in Streator. Together they had one daughter, Sonia.

Nancy’s first full time job was teaching home economics in Reed Custer High School in Braidwood, IL. She would later become a hospital dietician, a printer’s assistant for the Heyworth Star, and a teacher for 23 years at Wapella Elementary School. She and Jim enjoyed traveling and were able to visit all 50 states. Many of these trips were in their RV and included stops along the way to ride steam trains.

Nancy was a member of several organizations including the National Education Association, the Monticello Railroad Museum, and she was very active in the General Federated Women’s Club of Illinois. She was a 60 plus year member of the United Church of Heyworth, and associate member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alta. Being a 4-H leader, church and politics were a priority for her. Nancy also wrote a children’s book entitled “A Great Family Pet”.

Nancy died at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia, Iowa, on June 2, 2026. Until recently she had been a resident at WelLife of Alta since June of 2017.

Preceding Nancy in death were her parents, her husband Jim in 2003, two sisters and their husbands Elaine and George Williams, Rosemary and Raymond Bradley, mother and father-in-law Elizabeth and Glen Beveridge, one niece Brandi Bradley.

Surviving are her daughter Sonia and her husband Ted Galvin of Cherokee, Iowa, granddaughter Miranda of Sioux City, Iowa, grandson Marcus (Jared) of Scottsdale, AZ, great grandchildren CJ, and Calena Galvin, several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be divided between the Heyworth Railroad Museum, the Christmas Elves at the United Church of Heyworth, and the First Presbyterian Church of Alta.

Eunice Louise ("Tootsie") Tobin

Eunice Louise (“Tootsie”) Tobin, 93, passed away May 30, 2026. Eunice and her husband Jim Tobin were longtime residents of Farmer City following their marriage on January 28, 1956. They moved to Glenwood Assisted Living (Mahomet) in 2014 and Jim passed October 31, 2017. Eunice has resided at The Loft in Normal since 2021.

She was born January 5, 1933, in LeRoy, daughter of Lester and Ruth (Shoemaker) Scott. Most folks in LeRoy knew her as “Tootsie” or “Toots” Scott. Following the untimely death of Ruth, Miriam Scott became “Tootsie’s” stepmother in 1936.

On Saturday, June 6th, visitation will begin at 2 and funeral will be at 3 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in Farmer City with Deacon Scott Whitehouse officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy. Memorials may be made to the Farmer City Garden Club.

Survivors include three children, Janet E. Caldwell, Bloomington, Donna L. (Harold) Alderman, LeRoy, and Paul T. (Peggy) Tobin, Farmer City. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennie (Paul) Calhoon, Erin (Kyle) Winters, Rebecca (David) Matakas, Ryan Sessions, Jim (Mershon) Tobin, and Katelyn (Dan) Wayeshe; and seven great-grandchildren, Jessica (Travis) Hull, Quinton Calhoon, Kaylin and Jace Winters, Samantha and Camille Matakas, Carter Tobin, Asher and Miller Wayeshe.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 older half-brothers, a half-sister, a younger sister, her grandson Jonathan Sessions, her sons-in-law Gary D. Caldwell and Paul A. Arrowsmith, and her great-great grandson Leland Hull.

Eunice was a great cook and baker, but she preferred to spend time outdoors so fostered outdoor interests in her offspring. As the children became adults, most of the yard was converted from play space to flower beds. Eunice became very involved in the Garden Club in 1998 and hosted their annual plant sale for years. She was an assistant teacher for the Junior Master Gardeners class for children. A generosity with sharing her plants and knowledge about them has resulted in plants from her garden being spread far beyond Farmer City. Additionally, Eunice enjoyed her friends at TOPS and road trips.

Eunice enthusiastically recognized many holidays throughout the year with plentiful decorations and often with gifts. Her grandchildren could rely on her expertise in shopping to fulfill their wants and needs for birthdays and at least 3 holidays each year.

Leland Wright

CLINTON - Leland Dean Wright, 90, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Mt. Pulaski, IL. Born on December 2, 1935, in a farmhouse outside Lovington, Illinois, the son of Otto and Olive Bea (Day) Wright.

Leland married his beloved wife, Patsy (neè, Thomas) Wright on March 28, 1955, in Springfield, IL. He earned his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1961, later earning his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1963, and his PhD in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1973.

He worked on the control systems of the SuperSonic Tranport at Boeing aircraft and at Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque, then spent several years as the laboratory manager at General Electric in Bloomington.  After a career in engineering research and development, he finally lived his lifelong dream of becoming a farmer and rancher.

He was an animal lover who cared for both his livestock and his cats and dogs, affectionately treating them all to “cookie time” where he shared treats with his furry friends. Leland served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #1133 in Kenney. He also was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Leland was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and an active member of Clinton Presbyterian Church for over 30 years, serving as a Deacon and representing the Committee On Ministry.  He also enjoyed his sailboat on Clinton Lake, camping, painting, reading, fixing stuff, building stuff, and spending time with his family.  He was an intellect and always curious. 

Leland is survived by his wife of 71 years — Patsy Wright; children — Keith (Kathleen) Wright, Brian (Cynthia) Wright, and Pamela Wright; grandchildren — Louis Gill, Tallulah Gill, Holden Gill, Matt (Ande) Hilligoss, Elliot Wright, Monica Wright, Lillian Wright Bergschneider; and great granddaughter — Savannah Hilligoss; and son-in-law — David Gill, MD.  

Leland was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Polly Gill; brother, Delbert Wright; sister-in-law, Betty Wright; sister-in-law, Shirley Bower; and grandson, John Paul Hilligoss.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Clinton Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service.
