Virginia M. 'Ginny' Herriott

Virginia M. “Ginny” Herriott, 89, of Mansfield, Illinois, passed away at 2:05 A.M., Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello, Illinois.
 
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Mansfield United Methodist Church, Mansfield, Illinois with Pastor Ed Davis officiating. There will be no visitation. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home Foundation, Blue Ridge Township Library, Mansfield, Illinois or to the Northern Piatt Fire Protection District. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Mansfield, Illinois, in charge of arrangements.
 
Ginny was born February 12, 1929, in Hawthorne, Alabama, a daughter of E. Bruce and Zelma Keith Bird. She married Robert Herriott on February 12, 1989, in Mahomet, Illinois.
 
She is survived by her husband, Robert Herriott of Mansfield, Illinois; four children, Dee (Mark) Slack of White Heath, Illinois, Duane (Gaye) Dawkins of Mount Holly, North Carolina, Rick (Lori) Dawkins of Champaign, Illinois, Diane (Tom) Williams of Mansfield, Illinois; two stepdaughters, Jan (Randall) Allen of Homer, Illinois and Sue (Jerry) Hinshaw of Hudson, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Ben (Betsy) Williams; Luke (Shannon) Williams; Emily (Noah) Schraeder; Michael Culbertson; Clayton (Gina) Dawkins; Zeb (Ashleigh Bachmann) Dawkins; Zac Dawkins; Zara (Steve Meadows) Dawkins; Ginny (Kayl) Thomas; Thomas (Paige) Williams; six step grandchildren, Lauren (Jonathon) Mosley; Anna (Tyler) Lyons; Lena (Reeder) Head; Cade Hinshaw; Hanna (Matt) Moody; Orin Allen; fifteen great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Clara Lindsey, Frances Spears and Ruth Moles.
 
Ginny worked at Illinois Bell in Champaign, Illinois, for several years. She also worked at Parkland College, retiring in 1993. Ginny was a member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church. She loved to travel, read, eat out, and most of all spending time with family. Raising her four children was the greatest and most rewarding accomplishment of her life.
