V. Paul Spencer

V. Paul Spencer, 93, of Clinton, IL passed away at 1:20 PM, Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Veterans Home at LaSalle, IL.
 
Graveside services with Military Honors will be 10 AM, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Jim Kilson officiating. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lane Christian Church or to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
 
Paul was born February 18, 1925 in Clinton, IL the son of Elza and Minnie L. (Jones) Spencer. He married A. Marie Bradford October 28, 1950 in Clinton, IL. She passed away February 18, 2002.
 
Survivors include his daughters: Rita Spencer, Clinton, IL; Tami Spencer, Clinton, IL; and Tanya Bennett, Clinton, IL; grandsons: Joe (Ashley) Bennett, Clinton, IL and Sam Bennett, Clinton, IL; sister, Jean Sanregret, Portland, OR.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during WW II. He entered the service on January 26, 1945 and was discharged on November 16, 1946. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal Japan while serving his country. Paul was a member of the Lane Christian Church and was a farmer and postmaster in DeWitt and Wapella for 23 years. He was a longtime member of the Clinton Kiwanis.
