Robert L. Ferrill 90 of Oreana, IL passed away 11:35 AM March 25, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Services will be 10 AM Friday, March 30, 2018, at the Argenta United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Pierce and Pastor Bob Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Argenta United Methodist Church. Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Argenta-Oreana Fire Dept. or the Argenta Public Library. 

 

Bob was born January 12, 1928, in Friends Creek Township, Macon County, IL the son of Chester and Hazel (McConnell) Ferrill. He married Delores “Dee” White April 15, 1948, in Argenta, IL. She passed away July 25, 2013.

 

Survivors include his son, Mike and wife Sue of Oreana, IL; granddaughter: Lindsey Hans and husband Sam of Mahomet, IL; grandson, Brent Ferrill of Oreana, IL; great-grandsons, Michael Allan Hans and Hayden Samuel Hans; sister: Lois Hupp and husband Bob of Oreana, IL; brother-in-law: Woody White and wife Kathy of Argenta, IL; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Janet Frye of Argenta, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Richard and Orville and 3 nephews.

 

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. When he returned, he resumed farming for the next 60 plus years. He was a member of the Argenta United Methodist Church, Argenta-Oreana Fire Dept. for 60 years, being a trustee for the last 28 years. Bob was at one time active in the Macon County Farm Bureau Board, Argenta Masonic Lodge and the Argenta Library Board where he was instrumental in building the new library.

 

Bob and his brother owned a plane in his early years, using a landing strip on the family farm. He loved games of all kinds and was quite a competitor. He was so proud of his grandkids and never missed a school or sporting event.

 

Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
