Arthur Donald 'Don' Kemplin

Arthur Donald “Don” Kemplin, 94, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 1:17 P.M., Monday, February 26, 2018, at his residence.
 
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 2, 2018, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois. His funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. also at the funeral home with Pastor Danny McCubbins officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois with military rites accorded.
 
Memorials may be made an animal shelter of your choice.
 
Don was born on July 21, 1923, in Farmer City, Illinois, a son of Arthur and Maude Applegate Kemplin. He married Nona Elizabeth Cook on May 22, 1948, in DeWitt, Illinois. She passed away on March 28, 2005.
 
He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Fred) Michel of High Ridge, MO; three grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert “Chick” Kemplin of Farmer City, IL and Vernon “Butch” (Margaret) Kemplin of Mansfield, IL; sisters, Bernice Lamb of Farmer City, IL and Bernadine Lentz of Indianapolis, IN. 
 
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, David Kemplin Sr.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Kemplin and Frederick Kemplin; sisters, Virginia Kemplin and Velma White.
 
Don served in the United States Army during WWII in Hawaii and Iwo Jima as a jeep mechanic. He worked for the City of Farmer City as the Superintendent of the Water Department for many years then as a backhoe operator after retirement.
