Elizabeth Joyce 'Betty' Jorgensen, 88, of Clinton, Illinois passed away,

peacefully, from natural causes during her two-year residency at Liberty

Village Nursing Home, Clinton, IL at 9:12 PM Sunday, March 4, 2018.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Calvert Funeral

Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Randy Myers officiating. Burial will follow at

Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 10 - 11 AM, Wednesday

at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or to a Charity

of the Donor's Choice.

 

Elizabeth was born December 3, 1929, in Park Ridge, IL the daughter of John

and Mabel (Henrikson) Jacobs. She married Leighton "Lee" Earl Jorgensen

September 26, 1953, in Park Ridge, IL.  They met at Monmouth College in

Illinois where she was an English/Teaching major and were married for 49

years. He passed away September 7, 2002.  They lived in Arlington Heights,

IL from 1964 through 1999.  They moved south to Clinton, IL in 2000 during

their retirement phases of life.

 

Survivors include her two children: daughter, Karen Koontz, Rockford, IL;

and son, David (Annie of 28 years) Jorgensen, Clinton, IL; grandchildren:

Jesse Koontz, Richard Koontz, and Randy Koontz, and Bradley Jorgensen and

Christopher Jorgensen.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Betty taught High School English and later worked in market research in

Mt. Prospect, IL.  She maintained contact with her Kappa Delta sorority

for many years.  Betty enjoyed visiting and playing bridge with local

friends and was a member of the Methodist Church in Clinton, IL.  She

enjoyed time with friends, and especially enjoyed family gatherings with

her welcoming and extended family in Clinton.  Betty also enjoyed weekly

conversations by phone with daughter Karen through the years after the

move south to Clinton.
