Carol Jean Stephenson, 86 of Clinton, IL, passed away 8:55 P.M. January 18, 2026 at her family residence, Clinton, IL.

Services will be 11 AM Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Mike Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 9 – 11 AM Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice. 

Carol Jean was born June 16, 1939 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of Albert and Mildred (Eddy) Arendt. She married Roy E. Stephenson June 6, 1970 in Bloomington, IL. He passed away October 17, 1993.

Survivors include her children, Steve (Lori) Groves, Clinton, IL; Tom (Renee) Groves, Dunn, NC; Cathy Groves, Heyworth, IL; Jon (Debby) Groves, Clinton, IL; Andrew (Laura) Stephenson, Carlock, IL, 15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Joe Arendt, and sister, Shirley Wey.

Carol Jean had worked for Dr. Krishna, the First National Bank, and G&B Florists in Clinton. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She especially loved the Lord and was a member of the Song & Sword Church in Bloomington, IL. She loved reading, thrift store shopping, and antiquing. Most of all, Carol Jean loved her family.
