Miriam “Susie” Sams 78 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 7:36 P.M. January 7, 2026 at Copper Creek Cottages, Lincoln, Il.

Services will be 10 AM, Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Monday, January 12, 2026 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the DeWitt County Friendship Center.

Susie was born April 26, 1947 in Indiana the daughter of Gerald and Zelma (Vines) Hubbell. She married Richard L. Sams August 14, 1966 in Clinton, IL. He passed away May 24, 2009.

Survivors include her children, Eric (Megan) Sams, St. Augustine, FL and Andrea (Doug) Bounds, Clinton, IL;  grandchildren: Aaron Sams, Piedmont, SD; Carson Schmid, Lincoln, IL; Jacob George, Orlando, FL; Bryce (Shayna) Bounds, Normal, IL; and Breanna Bounds, Nashville, TN; siblings: Johanne Thompson, Jeanie Bishop, Kay Peterson, and Martha Clark.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents,  son, Jason Sams, two brothers, and four sisters.

Susie was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.  She was a vibrant lady with a caring heart who provided home day care.  Susie also worked as a waitress where she knew everybody.  Susie was involved in all of her children’s activities and supported them all of her life.
