Wilma Lee (Watson) Sympson

Wilma Lee (Watson) Sympson, 98 of Clinton, IL passed away 4:44 AM January 5, 2026 at Vonderlieth Living Center, Mt. Pulaski, IL.

 

Wilma was born June 28, 1927 in Harp Township, DeWitt County, IL the daughter of Walter E. and Goldie M. (Miller) Watson, Sr. She married Roy R. Sympson October 25, 1947 in Springfield, IL.

 

She graduated from Clinton High School in 1945 then entered St. Joseph School of Nursing, Bloomington, IL under the Nurse Cadet Corps program. She graduated in August 1948. She worked for Doctors Sinow and Ramey in Clinton, IL, the DeWitt County Nursing Home, and the Dr. John Warner Hospital. She worked as a nurse for over 50 years and finally gave up her nursing license at the age of 80.

 

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, Clinton, IL.

 

Surviving are daughters, Jean Williams (Paul) of Kenney,  and Vicki Watts (John) of Springfield, granddaughter, Kari Williams of Kenney, and grandson, Michael Watts of Breckenridge, CO.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, her parents, brother, Walter Watson, Jr. and sisters, Helen Pollock and Shirley Perkins.

 

Her visitation will be Thursday, January 8th from 5 to 7 PM at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9th at 11 AM at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Jonathan Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church, Clinton; the Warner Hospital Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
