William Towns

William H. Towns, 85 of Clinton, IL passed away 7:20 A.M. March 20, 2017 at John Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton, IL.
 
Graveside services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Stronghurst Township Cemetery, Stronghurst, IL with Rev. Jean Wollenberg officiating, along with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5 – 7 P.M. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.
 
Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Decatur, IL.
 
Bill was born March 21, 1931 in Flora, IL the son of Leland Milner and Florence Ethel (Bass) Towns. He married Barbara Brown in 1952 and later married Ruth Allen June 9, 1973. Ruth passed away February 4, 1992. Later, Bill married Susan Anne Herring October 1, 1996 and she passed away April 2, 2005.
 
Survivors include his children: Robert Eugene (Traci) Towns, Douglas, WY, Bonnie Sue (Richard L.) Christianson, Waynesville, IL, Brenda Marie (Mark Behrend) Woltz, Garnavillo, IA, Rebecca Ann (Tim) Tackett, Clinton, IL, Lily (Paul) Vadakin, Peublo, CO, and Annette (Steve) Brossette, Jacksonville, FL; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; brother: Gene (Barb) Towns, Harvest, AL; sister: Janetta Watson, Fairfield, IL and step brother: Bob (Beverly) Bass, Mt. Erie, IL.
 
He was preceded in death by parents and 4 step brothers.
 
Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Decatur, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated the Mobil gas station in Clinton, IL and also farmed in the Stonington area for many years.
