Lou Ceil Gordon, 93, of Villa Park, Calif., formerly of Clinton, passed away March 12, 2017, in Villa Park, Calif.
A celebration of life with her family will take place on her birthday in August in Fullerton, Calif., officiated by pastors Bill Tarka and Michael Cooper.
She was the youngest child of Robert E. and Anna Pringle Kimmons, born Aug. 6, 1923, in Ash Grove Mo. She was preceded in death by siblings Rex, Lee (Louise), Jack (Tilly), Joe (Marge) and Bea Thrasher. She married Jodie Buntin on Feb. 14, 1945, in Clinton. They had three daughters and lived in Clinton until his death in 1961. She later married G.B. Gordon on Jan. 23, 1965, in Long Beach, Calif., and remained there after his death in 1992.
Survivors include daughters, Bonny (Bruce) Cooper, Clinton; Jill (Jim) Hull, Clinton; Vicki Ann Gayton, California; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Matt (Brooke) Cooper and Owen, Fletcher, Jaxon and Wrigley, Wapella; Betsy (Travis) Hoffman and Cole, Zion and Riah, Maroa; Michael (Megan) Cooper and Aubrey and Aurora, Las Vegas, Nev.; Paul (Jennifer) Gaudino and Paul and Nickolas, Pennsylvania; Shae (Bill) Tarka and Braden, Reese and Ryah, California; and special family friend, David Lemons, Champaign.
Lou Ceil received her registered nursing degree from Evangelical Deaconess School of Nursing in Lincoln. She worked as a psychiatric nurse during World War II at the military hospital in Greenville, N.C. She returned home, where she married Jodie Buntin and worked at John Warner Hospital. She later got her certification in interior design and aided in her husband's real estate business. Upon his death she obtained her real estate and insurance license to take over the business. She ran Starkey's Insurance and multiple real estate developments for two years before selling them and moving to Long Beach, Calif., again working as a registered nurse. She obtained her bachelor of science in nursing at University of California Long Beach and later married G.B. Gordon.
She taught missionary first aid and medical procedures at Pacific Christian College, then in Long Beach, Calif. She was very active in her church and most of all was a servant to the Lord; James was her favorite book.
