W. C. Burkett 70 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 12:25 PM December 24, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Il.

 

Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Clinton Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dan Bell officiating.  Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL with Military Honors.  Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the church.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Clinton Assembly of God Church or the Clinton Christian Academy.

 

W.C. was born March 23, 1946 in Poplar Bluff, MO the son of Alvin and Edith (Smith) Burkett.  He married Doris “Rie” McKee September 25, 1971 in Keokuk, IA. 

 

Survivors include his wife, Rie Burkett, Clinton, IL; children:  Wendy (Gordon) Woods, Clinton, IL; Lisa Burkett, Clinton, IL; Jason (Fatima) Burkett, Bloomington, IL; and Bobbi (Sam) Perryman, Warrensburg, IL; five grandchildren; brothers:  Eugene and Tim Burkett, Gateway, AR; John, Garry and Steve Burkett, Pea Ridge, AR; Bruce and David Burkett, Seligman, MO; Robert Burkett, Anderson, MO; sister, Onida Clubb, Rogers, AR.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

 

W.C. served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1972. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, hunting and Big Band music. W.C. always had a corny sense of humor even up until his passing.
