Richard R. Tuggle

Richard R. Tuggle 92 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:05 PM October 17, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Illinois.
 
Services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson and David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL.
 
Visitation will be 5 – 7 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2017, at the funeral home.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Young at Heart.
 
Dick was born July 28, 1925, in Creek Township, DeWitt County, IL the son of Fred and Alice (Willson) Tuggle. He married Marjorie L. Massey November 30, 1947, in DeWitt County, IL. She passed away July 13, 2008.
 
Survivors include his children: Steve (Becki) Tuggle, Clinton, IL, Stan (Barb) Tuggle, Clinton, IL, Stephanie (Bill) Boyd, Clinton, IL; 7 grandchildren: Chad Tuggle, Courtney Tuggle Heisel, Tricia Tuggle Cooper, Rich Tuggle, Kyle Tuggle, Kari Medler Martin, Abby Medler Floy, 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother: Robert Tuggle, Downers Grove, Il. He is also survived by his special friend Betty Gaultney and their dog Sam.
 
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, 1 granddaughter: Kimberly Tuggle Cooley, Siblings, Harrold Tuggle, Mildred Riddle, Margaret Nixon and John Tuggle.
 
Dick was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton, IL. He served in the Navy 1944 – 1947. He and Marjorie farmed many years before retiring and moving to town in 1980. He was President of the Weldon Co-Op Board from 1977 – 1985. He served on the DeWitt County Board of Review, The Clinton School Board and was a member of the DeWitt County Farm Bureau. He was the Secretary of the Elks Club for several years and a longtime member of the Clinton Country Club. Dick enjoyed traveling with the Young At Heart, especially going to plays and traveling to Branson, Mo. He loved eating out with friends and visiting for hours at a time. He always had a jigsaw puzzle in progress. Dick enjoyed life to the fullest every day and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Even though his passing has left a deep hole in our hearts we are comforted by knowing he lived his long life to the fullest.
