Barbara J. Stephens, 74, of Normal, formerly of Farmer City, passed away 8:50 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 12, 2017) at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.

 

Her service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Weldon Baptist Church, 437 Route 48, Weldon, with Pastor Clyde Shreve officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded with inurnment at Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, at a later date.

 

Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.

 

Barb was born April 18, 1943, in Mayfield, Ky., to William and Nadine (Ellis) Brewer. She married Bill C. Stephens on June 30, 1961. He passed away Feb. 3, 2016.

 

She is survived by her three children, Sandy (Tom) Corcoran, Pontiac; Kathy White, Farmer City; and William Stephens, Decatur; five siblings, Gene Brewer, Crawfordsville, Ind.; Pat McGlaughlin, Crawfordsville, Ind.; Stella VanZile, Madisonville, Tenn.; Della Nuckols, Crawfordsville, Ind.; and Herman Culbertson, Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 28 nieces and nephews,. She was Grandma Barb to many who loved her.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.

 

Barb attended Crawfordsville High School in Indiana. She was a member of Weldon Baptist Church, Weldon. Barb loved her flower garden and enjoyed painting watercolors.
