Jeffry Lynn McCartney

Jeffry Lynn McCartney, 73, of Riverton, formerly of Monticello and Rushville, passed away at his home Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was born March 26, 1944 in Monticello, Il to Thomas Nathaniel and Margaret Hendrix McCartney. His wife, Maycell Phyliss Fay, parents, and infant sister Melinda preceded him in death.
 
In high school, Jeffry was a member of the FFA and loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He turned his passion into a career as a conservation officer working for the State of Illinois for 30 years in Schuyler and Piatt County, retiring in 2001. He was very active in the Christian Church in Buffalo, Monticello and Astoria.
 
He will be greatly missed by his children, Douglas B. (Kathy) McCartney of Latham, Amy (Brett) Johnson of Sidney, Andrew McCartney of Ashland, Lindsay (MSgt Dan USAF) Sabraw of Spangdahlem, Germany, and Marcy (John) Loper of Michigan; grandchildren, Christian Johnson, Riley and Logan Loper, Daelen and Annabelle McCartney; brother Noble Thomas McCartney of Pectonicia; sisters, Mary Margaret Duvall of Monticello and Ruth Ann McCartney of Bloomington.
 
His family will greet friends from 10am until the time of the funeral ceremony at 1pm, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL, 62629. Dr. Rich Mc Quinn and Pastor Matthew Thiner will be officiating.
 
Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham, after services. Burial of his urn will be at Willow Branch Cemetery, south of Monticello.
