Jerry Allen Davenport 70 of Forsyth, IL passed away 6:54 PM October 29, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Services will be 10 A.M. Thursday, November 2, 2017, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Bruce Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Jerry was born March 19, 1947, in Decatur, IL the son of Raymond E. Davenport, Sr. He married Sandy McCool on June 4, 1967, in Forsyth, IL.
Survivors include his wife: Sandy Davenport, Forsyth, IL; Children: Nicholas Allen Davenport, Maroa, IL, Matthew Allen (Melissa) Davenport, Maroa, IL; 4 grandchildren: Devvon Davenport, Maxwell Allen Davenport, Evan Creek, and Sophia Morgan Davenport; one brother: Raymond E. (Judy) Davenport, Jr., Pittsfield, IL; several nieces and nephews also survive; and best-friends: Frank and Diane Friend also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father; daughter: Melinda Sue Davenport; granddaughter: Morgan Rene' Davenport; brother: Clinton Davenport; sister: Shirley Ann Taylor; aunt: Mildred “Mike” Hance; and step-mother: Betty Davenport.
Jerry worked and retired from Caterpillar Inc. He was an Air Force Veteran, volunteer fireman, and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and doing woodcarvings. Jerry loved to go fishing, do oil paintings, and attend his grandchildren’s activities.
