Stephen B. Widenhofer

 Dr. Stephen B. Widenhofer, 67, went to his eternal home with Jesus on January 1, 2019. 

 

Born October 25, 1951 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late Norman and Esther Widenhofer and brother to the late David B. Widenhofer. Known to many in the Millikin University School of Music as “Doc,” he was a beloved teacher, administrator, friend, and mentor.

 

He was a dedicated and loving husband and father to his wife Debra (Bouman) and three children, Brittany (Michael) Atwood of Monticello, IL, Dr. Marc Widenhofer of Nashville, TN, and Jacob (Emily) Widenhofer of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by grandchildren, William, Joshua, and Andrew Atwood; brother Gerald (Ronelle) Widenhofer of Ft. Wayne, IN; parents-in-law David and Lorene Bouman of Ft. Wayne, IN; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

 

Above all else he loved Jesus and he loved people. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday January 5, 2019, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1 Bachrach Ct. Decatur, IL, followed by burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland Ave, Decatur, IL, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Stephen B. Widenhofer Memorial Fund in care of First State Bank, 201 W. Main, Monticello, IL 61856. Proceeds go to support students and musical arts at the Lutheran School Association of Decatur and Millikin University.
