James O. Peterson

James O. Peterson 93 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 6:20 A.M. October 18, 2018, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Il.

 

Services will be 11 A.M. Monday, October 22, 2018, at the First Christian Church, Clinton, Illinois with Bob Phillips and Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Texas Township Cemetery, Clinton, Il with Military Honors.. Visitation will be 9-11 A.M. at the church. The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to Little Galilee Christian Assembly.

 

James was born December 11, 1924, in Nason, Illinois the son of Guy and Mary (Baker) Peterson. He married Marjorie Belle Gilbert February 15, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, Il. She passed away May 23, 2015.

 

Survivors include his children, Dr. Lana (John) Bourn, Woodson, Il.; James Alan (Lila) Peterson, DeWitt, Il.; Kevin (Sherry) Peterson, Little Galilee Christian Assembly, Clinton, Il.; 9 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren; Siblings, Margie Beckham, Decatur, Il.; Imogene Lance, Oreana, Il.;.; Tom (Nancy) Peterson, Salem, Il.

 

James was preceded in death by his Parents and two brothers: Marlin Dean “Red” Peterson and Bob Peterson.

 

James was an Army sergeant stationed in Germany. He retired from Revere Copper and Brass after 30 years. James was the owner of Peterson Radio & TV in Clinton, IL.  After retirement, he and his wife volunteered for Mobile Missionary Assistance Program for 25 years, where they worked on construction projects all over the United States. He volunteered over 30 years at Little Galilee mowing and painting. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
