Richard E. "Cappy" Caplinger

Richard E. "Cappy” Caplinger, 80, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. Clara’s Rehab & Senior Center in Lincoln

 

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln.  Rev. Jeffrey Laible will officiate. 

 

Richard Eugene Caplinger was born on February 26, 1938, in Lincoln, the son of Bert and Genevieve Pushala Caplinger.

 

He is survived by his children: Richard R. Caplinger of Evansville, Ind., Tami (Timothy) Kennett of Lincoln, and  Leslie (Mike) Hart of Delavan; one sister: Diane (Bob) Farmer of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; and  nine great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Michael Caplinger, and one brother: Ronald Caplinger.

 

Richard graduated from Lincoln Community High School and served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division.  He owned a bar named "Cappy's" in the late 70s for many years.  He volunteered as a driver transporting donated supplies to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, making several trips down and back.  He loved riding Triumph motorcycles.  He retired from the Eaton Corporation as  Electrical Technician in the Maintenance Department.

 

Richard is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 1250 and is a 3rd Degree Knight, the Lincoln Moose Lodge, Eagles Aerie # 2708 and American Legion Post # 263 and ABATE.

 

Memorials can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Carroll Catholic School.

 

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home of Lincoln.
