James L. Valentine 82 of Waynesville, IL passed away 3:50 PM, September 11, 2017 at his daughter’s residence, Bloomington, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Waynesville Christian Church, Waynesville, IL, with David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville, IL, with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 PM, Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to Second Chance Pet adoption or Wounded Warrior Project.

James was born December 11, 1934 in Waynesville, IL the son of Thad and Mildred (Ellington) Valentine. He married Linda K. Purlee March 10, 1962 in Waynesville, IL. She passed away November 13, 1987.

 

Survivors include his children, Connie (Michael) Underwood, Bloomington, IL; Clint (Teresa) Valentine, McLean, IL; Michael Valentine, Waynesville, IL; 6 Grandchildren; 20 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and 1 Sister, Vicki Furman.

 

James was an Army Veteran, serving from May, 1957 until May, 1959. He retired from Wallace Press, Inc. after 35 years of service. He was a coin collector. He enjoyed Motorcycle

races, traveling and bow hunting. He was an animal lover.
