William Gar May, 92, of Bellflower, Illinois, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.  

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 1:00 P.M. - 3 P.M. at the Bellflower Community Center.  A memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M.  Memorial donations may be made to the Bill May Memorial, c/o Heartland Bank, Farmer City, Illinois.

 

Bill was born January 22, 1925 in Mansfield, Illinois, a son of Garfield and Thelma Warren May.  He married Irene Ashley on November 12, 1947 in Monticello, Illinois. 

 

He is survived by two sons, Gale (Dawn) May of Bellflower, Illinois and Jordan (Barb) May of Bloomington, Illinois; two daughters, Susan (David) Cline of Bellflower, Illinois and Cheryl (John) Anderson of Bellflower, Illinois; three brothers, Bob May of Ogden, Illinois, Jim May of Fisher, Illinois and Terry (Peggy) May of Farmer City, Illinois; one sister, Vivian (Clark) Roemer of Lexington, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and his faithful dog companion, Harry.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Susan May; five sisters, and two brothers.

 

Bill was a Navy veteran.  He always loved tinkering around with cars; fishing; water skiing; boating, and vacations with his family. Bill was a loving father; grandfather; great-grandfather; brother, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
