Diane Lucille Wentworth-Jensen of Maroa

Diane Lucille Wentworth-Jensen, 65, most recently of Maroa, passed away Monday June 3, 2013 at home. She was born June 7, 1947 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, daughter of Fred and Evelyn Wentworth of Warrensburg. Diane was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother.

Diane graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in Nursing and earned her Masters Degree in 1972 from Ball State University. She worked in her chosen profession, starting as a staff nurse on a surgical unit and retiring from the position of Vice President of Decatur Memorial Hospital. Her career also included being an instructor of nursing classes at Richland Community College where she was instrumental in establishing their Nursing Program. During her many years, she actively encouraged others to pursue careers in nursing and medical professions.

Diane had a variety of other interests. As a diehard Cub fan, she always anticipated spring training and the beginning of the baseball season. Working with and training her West Highland White Terriers became her passion after retirement. She not only trained her own dogs, she taught dog sport classes. The many new and close friends she made during these activities added much to her life.

Diane was the winner of the 1st Annual Women of Excellence Award in her field. She additionally served the greater Decatur community on many boards, including the United Way of Macon County, and as President of the Decatur Civic Center Board of Directors.

Diane is survived by, husband, Paul, her parents Fred and Evelyn Wentworth of Warrensburg, Brothers Norman (Linda) Wentworth, Decatur; Dennis (Cathy) Wentworth, Downs; Sister Sharon (John) Dew, Kirkwood. Sons Jeffrey (Rebekah) Jensen, San Jose, CA and Michael (Erin) Jensen of Normal; grandchildren McKenna, Alexander, and Samuel; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation and funeral service will be at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home. Visitation on Wednesday June 5 5:30-8:00 PM with funeral services on Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL.
